Passover - Selected Excerpts from the Sources. (“And the King of Egypt Died”. #201)
Passover - Main page for all chapters
1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:44) So we learned that the children of Israel, those who wanted to come out of Egypt eventually do come out of Egypt and what remains in Egypt is only the King of Egypt and because he doesn't have what to live off, to be sustained by because the children of Israel who brought him lights by serving him, so he dies, he dies. So, let's read what happens then, very simple.
Reading Excerpt # 201 (01:50) “We should interpret..”
2. R. (03:05) Yes, this means that they reached a state where they have before them neither a goal or what for or anything but rather there is no rule of any kind and then they are in a state where and then they sighed from the work. That they can't see ahead of them any purpose in life. They cannot work for themselves because they see that this is not the goal, that is not life and this is called to work for the King of Egypt. Then in order to bestow, they can't yet, they didn't yet receive new forces, spiritual forces. And then they cried out. They started crying out "so how will we live.” A person who doesn't have a purpose in life, when it is completely clear to him that he doesn't have a purpose in life, he has nothing to live for and this is what happened after they came out of the rule of Pharaoh. And the children of Israel sighed from the work and they cried out, they started to cry out out of the fact that there is no purpose in life, in each and every action that they didn't feel, “what am I doing it for” and their cry rose up to God from the work and out of that, this cry in the heart of each and every one it reaches the Creator.
3. S. (05:15) How do I come to an awakening when the King of Egypt dies?
R. I don't know, we didn't read this yet. We read that after they came out of the rule of their ego they rise above their ego, they reach a state where there is nothing to work for, there is nothing to live for. I thought that I was living and I get a benefit out of it for now, for the future and if that disappears, if it disappears from me then there is nothing to live for. We don't know this state because in each and every state that we are alive, that we feel life, we know what we are breathing for, working for, living for. Why do we move from one place to another? There is a certain goal but if this goal disappears, already, entirely, then we come to a stop. We don't know what to do. And this is what they felt and they sighed, they started to cry out so the Creator left them the forces to cry out so that at least they can cry out above this, why should we live?
S. It is as if there's an expectation on my part, that's what I feel?
R. There's no expectation, there's nothing. They cannot see ahead of them any goal: it is simply a person who loses all of his power to live. Total indifference and apathy, it fills him and turns off all of his desires and this is worse than death because he feels in his life that he is dead.
4. S. (08:00) Yesterday, I heard that the king of Egypt comes out of Egypt with us. What happens to Pharaoh when we come out of Egypt?
R. Pharaoh the King of Egypt, remains in Egypt. They want to get out. He receives a command, a directive from the Creator to let them go out and they come out of his rule and he remains alone without them. When he remains without them it means that there is no one to carry out the commands of in order to receive for Pharaoh. So he has nothing to live from and then he dies.
S. So he doesn't come out of Egypt with us?
R. No, Pharaoh remains in Egypt. He is the King of Egypt and we run away from him. We exit Egypt. What for? In order to come out of the rule of in order to receive, the rule of Pharaoh.
5. S. (09:43) How to transform this personal state to a group state?
R. Even before that it was already a group state because of the fact that they turned to Pharaoh saying, “let my people go” through the force of Moses. It means that they are already connected in tens, they are already organized, this is already a group that wants to come out of the rule of in order to receive. They discover this in the group, in the ten, that they want to bestow to each other and out of their bestowal to bestow to the Creator, then they see that it is impossible, that the will to receive in order to receive rules over them, resides over them and then they have no choice but to run away from its governance. This is why they cry out and they run away.
S. Yes, but we were talking again about then and I am talking about now. How does this state come from personal to a group state?
R. It's not again, I don't know what you mean, they were in a group already, they ran away from the rule of the rule to receive, the rule of Pharaoh. They ran away when they were already organized somehow in a group. A person cannot come out alone but only if he is connected with the group and they decide that they want to come out of the rule of their will to receive that they cannot bestow to each other and out of this they cannot bestow to the Creator and this is called, considered that Pharaoh rules over them and then they have no choice but to run away from his rule.
6. S. (12:05) What's the difference between stopping to work for Pharaoh and escaping Egypt?
R. That the in order to receive no longer rules over them and in order to bestow doesn't rule over them yet so they are in between Heaven and Earth, considered an exiting.
S. Yes, but they stopped working for him in Egypt, right?
R. This is considered that they go out, this is what it means that Egypt gradually turns into outside of Egypt and later even the land of Israel, it's not about geography but rather it is the matter of what forces are in control.
7. S. (12:55) We have learned that there is no intermediate state between Klipa and Kedusha. Rabash talks about an intermediate state now. Can you explain it?
R. Well it has to be because they were in order to receive, that is considered the rule of Pharaoh over them: they were slaves of Pharaoh, now they come out of it and they enter a new rule which they will have in order to bestow and this is a transition that happens gradually over time. And therefore, it doesn't happen instantly, so there's this situation where Pharaoh doesn't rule over them but the Creator also doesn't rule over them yet. And they are in this state of confusion.
S. So what does it mean that there is no intermediate state?
R. That there is no one else who rules: no one is ruling them.
S. What should we generate with us in that intermediate state where there is no control of anyone?
R. It's that we want to come out of the rule of in order to receive, the rule of Pharaoh, of the rule of our ego, this leads us to a state where the intention of in order to receive gradually disappears because I work in a group and I want to be this way with the friends and that's it, so we reach such a state where it's not this and it's not that and I seemingly remain in an open empty space.
S. [No translation.]
R. No, no I don't want to get into all of these stories.
8. S. (15:52) This state where on one hand there is no corporeality, there is no spirituality and you also can’t die, and it feels like no prayer helps. The question is: how to escape towards the Creator, how to cry like this in order to cling to the Creator because it is impossible and we can't go this way or that way. It’s also not clear where to cry to and where do we get the strength for this?
R. When you will feel this state to the fullest then you will have advancement. It will occur to you.
9. S. (16:38) So working for the Creator, we understand that's complicated but we get to the conclusion that we don't want to work for ourselves. How to reach a decision that you want to stop receiving for yourself?
R. It happens by connecting together and in the connection between us the Upper Light starts to shine, the Creator because it is the law of nature. If we connect, even well, I'm not saying physically but as much as we are capable of emotionally, willingly want to be closer to each other according to our spirit then we awaken the Reforming Light, the Upper Light and it doesn't enter into us but it's shines to us from afar. And it turns out that this is how it works in such a way that we gradually lose our will to receive for ourselves and even the desire to bestow to the friends it also seemingly disappears, it is not felt so much because this desire to bestow to the friends was also as a desire to receive and so they were connected when we were in Egypt we were connected in groups also before the exodus but it wasn't a connection, it was a connection in order to receive under the rule of Pharaoh still.
And therefore, it turns out that we are in a state of confusion that we don't have a will to receive but we also don't have a will to bestow, so what about the rule of Pharaoh or someone else instead of him. We are in between this and that we don't know what to live for. It is a very apathetic state, unknown where we feel between Heaven and Earth. And then we will truly cry out, “why does this state happen?” It is in order for us to feel how much we must work with our will to receive either in order to receive or in order to bestow either for Pharaoh or for the Creator, and if it's not this or that, then it is a state where there is nothing worse because we then seemingly do not exist because the will to receive is our entire nature; this is actually that state.
S. If I understand correctly this state of not being here or there every person needs to go through it each and every moment?
R. Yes, of course.
S. For the efforts in connection, the right amount of light will come?
R. Soon we will see what needs to happen in order to get out of this state but in the meantime they are crying out right and the king of Egypt died, meaning that the work that they were doing for themselves which is called the Klipa for the King of Egypt, they have stopped working for him. Meaning they felt that working for themselves called the control of the King of Egypt is regarded as death. Instead they took upon themselves to work for the sake of Creator. This is the next stage but then they had no power to work because the King of Egypt governed them. He didn't die yet but rather they want to shift to in order to bestow but they cannot and so in between they feel this state where they are empty-handed from both sides.
If a person works for the King of Egypt he feels himself like Pharaoh, truly. According to his work he gets paid, he has a gain, he gets pleasure, he has a purpose in life, he has something that shines: whatever Pharaoh has, the person also has some of it. Whereas, if he comes out of the rule of Pharaoh then it is already a problem. It follows that they do not want to work for their own sake yet they cannot yet work for the sake of the Creator. This is the meaning of the verse “And the children of Israel sighed from the work and they cried out and that cry rose up to God from the work.” That they are actually willing to work but they don't see that from this work there is any fulfillment. They had before the feeling of in order to receive, like the feeling to be in order to bestow, it doesn’t matter which but in between coming out of Egypt and the entrance to the land of Israel they do not feel that they are getting any kind of feeling; this is why they cry out.
S. [No translation]
R. Let us read, let us just continue.
Reading excerpt #202 (23:43) “They were very fond of the work in Egypt..”
10. R. () Meaning with those people who work in order to receive there’s no problem, they mix with them. Those who even want to reach, to get to know the essence of life, the purpose of life, they mix with them, mingle with them and they understand each other. It's just that these work in order to discover the Creator and those work in order to discover joy in ordinary life.
Continuing reading Excerpt #202 (24:30)
11. R. (24:44) Just as we see that for the time being we cannot disconnect from the world, the world is the world for all the people, for their purposes from whatever they are drawn to.
Continuing reading excerpt #202 (25:10) twice.
12. R. (26:40) This means that in the in order to receive when they are in that, there is no problem. If I am more with an intention towards the Creator or less with the intention for the Creator I want it for myself, right? This world, the next world, to pray, to perform all kinds of movements - that doesn't matter. As we see the entire religious world, it doesn't matter which religion. This is why we have to realize that the work in Egypt doesn't go against a person or against the Creator and when a person is in Egypt he feels good. I have this world, I have the next world, everything is fine, everything works out and I understand and I feel, I understand and I feel that I have a connection with the Upper Force that I also accept His rule and it is to my benefit and this is how we advance. And what does the Creator do? As it says, “the King of Egypt died.” Meaning that they no longer feel that they belong so much to the will to receive in order to receive and therefore, there is no wholeness in their work and so why work?
Well it says here, “The King of Egypt died, meaning that they had lost this servitude. Thus, they could no longer work. They understood that if the Mochin is incomplete, the servitude is also incomplete. Hence, so the children of Israel sighed from the work. From the work means that they did not get satisfaction from the work since they had no vitality in the work. This is the meaning of and the King of Egypt died. And as much as they work they don't feel that they are getting anything, so where do we take power, forces in order to perform any actions? That all the dominations of the King of Egypt who managed and provided for them had died. This is why they had no prayer and once they prayed then they were immediately saved, right. Meaning it’s a process here, where we bit by bit, we need to discover how much those forces that were helping us to advance egoistically, now they can no longer do it and also they cannot direct us towards anything but rather we are without any feeling, without any satisfaction from any of our actions and so then what do we do? And from this came the outcry and they sighed, okay.
13. S. (31:10) I heard from you now that we have to determine if we want to work either in order to receive or in order to bestow. What is this place in us where we can determine it, when will this place even become possible so that we can determine anything?
R. This is a correct question. We don't yet feel what exactly we are going through but rather we feel that we don't have the forces of justifying our work not in order to receive nor in order to bestow and we can't really, let's read on, let's read on. We don't have what to ask about.
Reading Excerpt #202 (32:30) “They were very fond of the work in Egypt..”
14. R. (32:55) Meaning in order to receive.
Continue in Reading excerpt #202 (32:58)
15. R. (34:23) This means who promotes them towards the prayer: Pharaoh. He doesn't give them any feeling and then they see that they remain empty. This is considered that the King of Egypt died, meaning all of the dominions of the dominations of the King of Egypt nourished and provided for them had died, this is what it says. This is why they had room for prayer and once they prayed they were immediately saved. This is clear?
16. S. (35:18) They looked for another force that would govern them or they just wanted to escape the other force?
R. This doesn't matter, what matters is that we work for something, that we can perform some movement for something because if there is nothing for which to do it: that is the worst. Let's make some agreement that the local guys should not put their hands up, okay, so who besides them?
17. S. (36:15) Does the whole world need to reach a state where the children of Israel sighed from the work?
R. Out of the connection that they made before the exodus from Egypt, each one feels what everyone feels: it goes over everyone.
18. S. (37:00) The Pharaoh died and it means that no one will take his place?
R. Well, yes, is this a question?
S. Yes.
R. So the will to receive dies with respect to that group of people who do not want to be under its rule.
19. S. (37:38) We learn to receive fulfillment from the work itself for the Creator, why couldn't they do it?
R. This is a strong question but it didn't reach that yet. They didn't yet rise to such a degree where they can bestow to the Creator where they want to bestow to the Creator and out of that they will get a feeling. But it is a good question.
20. S. (38:30) When we work between us there is a state of bestowing in order to receive that you feel like you are doing some actions in the work and it goes towards reception. So what do I do in that state? Do I stop myself artificially or continue anyway because some movement is happening?
R. We will talk about it and I asked the local folks not to ask so that we will manage to go through the materials otherwise..Oh, he lives in Germany - poor guy!
Reading excerpt# 203 (39:28) “As long as their Minister was given..”
21. R. (41:20) It means that here there is a replacement of the forces that work on a person who is in a group. Earlier he was ruled by the will to receive and the person was forced to perform the actions of the will to receive and now the will to receive died and instead of it comes the will to bestow. And then the person has to try to enter a connection with the will to bestow, meaning it requires of him to have a connection and a new intention.
22. S. (42:20) So we come out of Egypt and the King of Egypt dies or he remains in Egypt, so how do we work afterwards?
R. I don't know about this. We didn't yet read about it. We haven't read about this state yet. What do we work with if the King of Egypt died? We just read now that he died. What happens later, I don't know?
S. [No translation]
R. We do not read more than what is written and we don't want to know anymore than what is written, in pieces, in slices, slice after slice. This is how we advance.
23. S. (43:43) A person for whom Pharaoh hasn't died yet, he waits for the state to come from the Creator or should he do something in order to reach this state where Pharaoh dies?
R. A person who is in a group and who wants to get out of Egypt, he directs himself towards the exit and he knows that he is going to a place where the will to receive does not rule but rather the will to bestow rules. So he arranges the force of connection between the friends in the group so that they will have a mutual power of bestowal, as much as they can of course. It is within the boundaries of in order to receive for now but this is how it works. So in the meantime through their efforts, the Creator advances towards them, He gets closer to them and He shines on them.
And out of this the illumination is replaced over them from Pharaoh to the Creator, bit by bit, and then they can no longer hear Pharaoh’s voice. Meaning to perform actions in order to receive but rather they already have an inclination towards in order to bestow but they do not get into that yet. It is a transition and a transition where we can also fail in it. There are those who go back to Egypt, there are those who do not believe in Moses and the exodus from Egypt and so this is how he explains it to us, in small pieces. And the most important as he says.. did we read 204 yet?
Reading Excerpt #204 (47:00) “The Zohar says, and since their exile..”
24. R. (47:10) Meaning it's not that they cried out a lot and together and something else but rather once their exile has been completed, that it also depends on time. As much as we cry out, to whom do we cry out, who cries and so on but also time is important.
Continuing Reading Excerpt #204 (47:32)
25. R. (49:25) This means that we need to work and put in effort so much so that we will feel that suffering came over us because we are in order to receive, that we can no longer tolerate this. And then it is considered that this is the time when the suffering is completed, then the Creator arranges for us to exit the exile, not the suffering themselves but the exile. All right, this means that our work should be that even though we are under the rule of Pharaoh we want to get out of his rule and we get up and work towards connection. The moment that we feel that we are able to connect ourselves with each other then it turns out, it turns out that we are ready for the exodus from Egypt. Meaning to get out of the control of the evil force, the egoistic force and we cross over and come out. We run away at night and we will learn about that, it is not so simple. To come out of one force and to enter under another force, it doesn't happen quickly and it's not just one action. Okay?
26. S. (51:47) Does it mean that they have the love of friends but they don't have the love of the Creator?
R. Yes, you could also say that they don't reach love of friends that fast but on the way there.
27. S. (52:34) Where do they get the desire to connect since there is no reward?
R. From the Creator of course. Because it's an action of bestowal and a desire to bestow, the intention to bestow; it is all from the Creator.
28. S. (53:10) In excerpt 202, it says that they realized that if the Mochin is incomplete, then the servitude is also incomplete. What does it mean that they realized that the Mochin is incomplete?
R. They felt that there is no wholeness in what they received yet.
Reading Excerpt #205 (54:00) “When they were rewarded with seeing,..”
29. R. (54:35) Meaning that they have discovered that there is no Upper Force in Egypt as they thought before. And this is something very great that the will to receive is simply a force of nature that can be moved and shaped and the Creator is above it. Because before that we have a feeling that the will to receive dominates and rules all levels of nature.
Continuing Reading Excerpt #205 (55:15)
30. R. (55:55) Only waited for them to feel how much they are in a will to receive in order to receive and that rules them and they accepted it truly as nature as a higher force and afterwards it has been discovered to them as one of the forms of the Creator. The Creator has two forces: the will to receive and the will to bestow and He plays with both of them towards the created being,s influences the created beings through both of them in order to teach them to rise above both right and left, both forces all the way to rise to His height, so left, right, left, right and thus, rise up the ladder. So that is now becoming revealed.
31. S. (57:17) Is the state that goes by, before the Creator helps, does it depend on the suffering? Is the Creator the source of suffering?
R. It doesn't depend on the amount of suffering but the extent that the suffering influences the person in helping him clarify the difference between the will to receive and the will to bestow, the force of bestowal and the force of reception. Because without the difference between these two forces then we wouldn't be able, it is like light and darkness we wouldn’t be able detect any forces in creation.
32. S. (58:41) It says that if the time hasn't come yet then there is no possibility: what is our work at that time?
R. Our work in connection all the time, that is the main thing. It is to clarify the influences of the Creator. What does He bestow and what does He want from us? How can we respond? How can we direct ourselves towards each and every influence of His to move closer to Him? That's basically our goal. You feel it, you understand it and ask, go ahead.
33. S. (01:00:00) I went to clarify after Pharaoh died and he's no longer controlling us but we still don't want to bestow but we are in the desert, is this state the state where they sighed, they sighed from the work?
R. Yes, look we have to understand a person can only work with one of two forces, the will to receive or the will to bestow, what does he want to gain? The fact they came out of Egypt and escaped to the rule of Pharaoh and they understand that Pharaoh probably died, their Minister fell, the king of Egypt died, and then what can they cry for? That they don't have a king us before? Bit by bit a new king becomes revealed and the true form as he writes, the one who wants to receive for himself becomes revealed in a more truthful way. Then the Creator hears their cry in a different way. They understand they worked in order to receive at first and now they realize that this isn't correct and they have to move to be under a different force in order to bestow.
That is a continuation that they cried to the Creator that they have no way to work meaning, the fact that Pharaoh died didn't make it easier for them. We see that not many people are drawn to in order to bestow, but many more come to in order to bestow meaning want to know what it is and get these things but then they return to, in order to receive. What's the benefit? There at least I have some gain. I do all kinds of actions like all other people, I have support from a big crowd of people, not just a few individuals and so I feel confident and satisfied that I am together with many people and the more people the more support for the herd. The herd becomes stronger, greater, bigger, but if that multitude of people goes away, then you have to start connecting to the upper force as it always was in the wisdom of Kabbalah throughout all generations. The Kabbalist were few, just a handful of people in each and every generation, so they were always in contrast to the majority. They would be banned from society and ridiculed and so there is no place here for the true revelation of the force of bestowal.
S. They find themselves under a new rule and then they reach a state of crying out?
R. Yes.
Reading number 205 (01:05:42) " What Does It Mean that Before (again)
34. R. (01:06:52) Meaning that now they see that this control over them is there it's the will to receive for itself, and by that they see that they're outcry is heard by the Creator.
35. S. (01:07:30) The revelation of the will to receive, the evil happens because the created being understands that there is no feeling in whatever he wants? Then he changes his direction towards the Creator and cries out and prays and then Pharaoh dies, did I understand that correctly?
R. Let's say so we'll think about that more.
36. S. (01:08:14) It's written that they saw that there was no minister of Egypt who detained the prayers of Israel, if the Creator indeed heard their prayer and there was no detaining of the prayer does it mean that they were under the rule of Egypt?
R. They were under the rule of the Creator but a certain control of the Creator over them Is considered the rule of Pharaoh, the rule of Egypt.and that's how it is, but everything is None Else Besides Him, None Else Besides Him.
37. S. (01:09:00) How will I know that the king of Egypt died?
R. How will you know that the king of Egypt died? You will feel it within, that you no longer have a desire to receive or to hear or to determine what he tells you, that means that it's dead and it dies in you meaning for you there's no longer higher upper important thing it's with respect to the person.
S. It's not clear for me, now I'm among the friends, so after Passover what's going to happen?
R. I don't understand?
S. What will happen to us after Passover? Our situation is clear to me but what will happen after passover?
R. To you?
S. Yes.
R. I don't know ,I don't know the future, I don't want to know the future. I only want to adhere to the Creator with everything that He sends me in the present right now.
38. S. (01:11:13) You said that the suffering is because we are in the will to receive but the exit is not for the suffering themselves but it's from the exile, meaning even after the exit from Egypt the suffering continues but we don't cry out because of it?
R. I want you, yourselves, to go through these discernments on your own and determine how you feel them. The feeling of Egypt, the feeling of being under the rule of the will to bestow, the will to receive, the good Pharaoh the bad Pharaoh, that we will feel these things and not just talk about them as something that we read from a book.
Reading number 206: (01:12:54 ) :“Who caused their minister..” twice
39. S. (01:15:45) If I understand correctly this state is more important so I identify the depth of the evil within me
R. Yes. and also how much the good force and the bad force come out of one source and we need to treat them matter of factually since each one of them came in order to turn us and twist us in position as correctly before the Creator. In order to understand the Creator we need to include the good force and the bad force and the force of bestowal and the force of reception in such a way that between the two of them we will reveal the Creator who is the source of both.
S. For example I'm more of an animal that I am a person and I have spirituality for myself and not for my friends.that I give myself more benefit than I give to the friends and in this gradual recognition I reach out to the Creator as a result of this pain I have in my heart?
R. For the time, yes.
S. By this I need to serve my heart to search for the heart?
R. If I have the correct thought then that's how it's happening, yes.
40. S. (01:18:15) The question is we need to reach a conclusion that we determine who is the Creator and He takes us out of Egypt and He leads us under the dominance of Moses and puts us under the force of faith which is what takes us out of Egypt and out of Exile, and all of this under the dominance of the Creator.
R. Let's say that it's okay, meaning there will be many corrections here, but for the time being it's enough.
S. Now in the remaining 40 years, seemingly we will use the force of faith until we will reach the love of others?
R. We will see I don't like to talk so far ahead, be it for it settles in people in the students .I don't like to talk about it, we have to talk about it according to the foundation we have at the very least.
41. S. (01:20:33) It turns out that this dominance of Pharaoh which is the evil inclination is not actually evil, in the excerpts here the word repentance was mentioned so what is this evil and which we need to repent upon?
R. There is no evil in nature in the world, not even in man, however we need to see that if we don't correct what is required of us to correct right now then those forces that we failed to correct are called evil, that is it.
S. What does it mean to be sorry to repent?
R. To regret the fact that I did not correct it in the right time.
42. S. (01:22:12) How to overcome the state when despair brings me to indifference?
R. To keep going in spite of the indifference, there is nothing to do we always have to keep going, and there is no other solution for it.
Reading number 207 ( 01: 23:22 ) “And the children of Israel sighed from the work”
43. R. (01:24:12 ) It's truly tough times were difficult and that's why those days are called many, and the king of Egypt died and there's no great force that passes them in a ranges them and there's no one to pray to and the children of Israel's side from the work, because they wanted to come out from under the will to receive that is dead in their eyes and even though they see that he is dead there is nothing that they can do. They continue to be connected to it and they cried and they cried and came out up to God from their work. Nevertheless they cried to the heavens what will we do, why do we live, why do we work, what should our effort yield, we do not see any goal before us, they suffered so much that they could not bear it, and they so pleaded the prayer that their cry came up unto God. Meaning, there is no choice if a person does not know why does he live or what for or for whom to bow or for whom to go with the King that he had that he was connected to and it's very important for a person and now he doesn't have it, it is gone and the king of Egypt died.
44. S. (01:26:15) I want to check that I am depicting this state correctly, can I imagine it as if I am in a sailing ship and there's no wind and I want to go and I don't know where I want to go but at some point I want to go somewhere.
R. What's the question? Whether it's right or wrong we will see later, you should develop a little bit more in it.
S. What I mean is, there's a state where there's a desire for something but it's almost like it's like the two opposites don't exist and I just want something that isn't either one of the other, or can I already feel the two opposites, I'm just undecided.
R. We will see exactly what it means, the difficulty of the work it's still not clear, it is still not clarified.
Reading number 208: (01:28:16) “It is written and the children of Israel..” twice
45. S. (01:30:50 ) It's unclear what work they say from it seems like the king of Egypt died. The work should have been easier but here they are sighing from the work ,why?
R. Why would it be easier from before I had a reason to work for, I saw profit in my actions and everything and now I cannot see any profit, I cannot see for me it's not a profit it's not a reward so what to do, why do you think it's better, before I used to invest in my friends and connecting with the group a few hours a day, in certain actions and certain forces and now I'm don't know why I need it why should I do it? I understand what it means in order to receive I can… I can weigh it, I can profit but in order to bestow I don't know it slips from between my fingers it simply goes everywhere and I am left with nothing.
S. What is Pharaoh's motivation in the spiritual work that I want to work in order to receive?
R. He sees some profit that he personally sees some profit.
S. Friends come to me I see how good it is and everything falls into place?
R. I can arrange for you many such societies where you will see the friends and eat and drink and rejoice and think that's a spiritual work.
S. Yesterday in the Yeshivat Haverim we spoke that there's nothing like this in the world so what are we doing this for for ourselves that's how it turns out?
R. If we would disconnect this motivation for self, then I would be sitting here in an empty hall.
S. What motivation should there be?
R. Contentment to the Creator brings contentment to the Creator.
S. Through the connection between us?
R. Yes of course, and the fact that I connect with the friends and then I have a force of bestowal and I can direct this bastole for each and every friend and through him to pass it to the Creator because the Creator stands behind every friend and then I feel how in that I profit greatly in what in bringing the Creator pleasure, and I don't owe anything besides that.
S. It's very subtle who we dedicate this connection towards?
R. Yes, I don't know if it's that subtle it's clear, it's clear to anyone who thinks about it even a little that if we do not receive pleasure we cannot budge even as much as a tiny finger.
S. What is the better option in this world not feeling pleasure from work with the friends and still dedicating it to the Creator or feeling pleasure towards the friends and getting it towards the Creator?
R. What does it mean that you're dedicating it to the Creator? Let's say you have a million dollars in your pocket and you give it to someone. Does that mean you dedicated it to him but if you don't have it what are you dedicating.
S. I don't know, you said that the question is what are we doing this for and who are we doing this for so we it's not just a gathering of some people?
R. Yes, we want our gathering to gradually build for us a vessel where we will feel am I aiming myself at the Creator, and my intending to bring him contentment by that, and to one extent I am arranging that process so the society helps me to build this process, if the children of Israel did not connect before the Exodus they would not come out of Egypt they wouldn't feel the direction towards the exit from the Creator. What does it mean the direction towards the exit from Egypt, you feel that in this direction, on this path using these forces, we can be more connected between us, and that is our direction toward the exit.
46. S. (01:38:33) The king of Egypt died and they sighed from the work and the prayer rose to the Creator then the new king came and again they fell to a state of work of the Pharaoh. How long does this cycle continue, what is it, an endless cycle?
R. As much as needed. We need to approach the Exodus of these waves so it's possible that what we have not revealed yet and not corrected yet in the previous step we have to now advance it and correct it in the current step.
47. S. (01:40:00) It turns out that there was despair before the exodus and after the exodus the suffering grew even more, and the despair that brings to a true prayer is the force of Moses?
R. There's something to it, but the fact that we are advancing towards a greater revelation of evil, that is qualitatively and that's how we advance. We come out of Egypt and we walk for 40 years in the desert, 40 years. We constantly discover how our path is the scrutiny of forces that go against the Creator and by passing over them we overcome and we come closer to the Creator until we finish going through the entire desert and we come to the land of Israel. Then we are ready to enter the desire the land of Israel the land first straight to the Creator, we are ready for it, so within 40 Years of the desert meaning 4 degrees, we are ready to enter a state where the land of Israel Eretz, land and desire and straight to the Creator and that's how we come to it.
S. We need to reveal all the evil and completely cover ourselves in order to receive the Torah and Israel?
R. Right.
S. That's the hardest and longest part of our entering of Israel?
R. No, I think the hardest is nevertheless to come out of Egypt.
48. S. (01:43:36) Covering with love is that an egoistic request?
R. What do you hope to cover and what do you wish to get out of it?
S. I want to have the love of friends as a result of that?
R. Okay if you want to get love from friends what do you need love of friends for?
S. That I will be able to give them strength, because if I hate them I cannot give them strength
R. Okay, that's very good what's to ask here keep going.
49. S. (01:44:25 I heard that this state is dangerous because it can lead you to fall back into egoism?
R. Yes. Because in the ego you have all the covers, all the garments and the covers honor money, convenient comfortable feeling and help on all sides and how do I put it, invest nothing.
S. You can play with these things and then get stuck on it, and then the Exodus is to overcome this spiritual matter in order to enter bestow?
R. Well it's not that simple because you have to convince yourself that you have some spiritual profit in it . Spiritual profit means that you are giving contentment to the Creator but how important that is to you that is the question and here you see that without connection to the society who can provide you with this kind of support, where to give contentment to the Creator is the most important thing if you don't do it you will not be able to advance.
S. In the state of overcoming for the sake of the friends and there are outbursts of joy from this work, how do I understand these facts for the sake of the Creator and I don't fall again to self love and self pleasure?
R. You have to feel it, you will see, if you are in a group, if you are studying with us then eventually and quite quickly you will scrutinize all those things.
50. S. (01:47:07) What are sufferings in order to receive and sufferings in order to bestow differentiated?
R. According to the feeling of suffering, you cannot distinguish. No,suffering is suffering except there is sweet suffering and bitter suffering. There is a difference, and the difference is how much a person can be drawn to work for the sake of his children, and hard labor where they obligate him to work for his enemy, it's a big difference, I can talk about it a lot but you have to understand it after all, what's the difference between the sufferings ultimately we need to enter a state where ahead of us is suffering or pleasure and we need to see by what do I advance towards the true goal and accordingly to a way to evaluate my vessels.
51. S. (01:49:08) Does the Creator need contentment?
R. The Creator needs contentment. He is waiting to receive contentment from us.
S. If so, why do we need to feel this motivation to give Him contentment?
R. Because we wish to love him all of us together and this way it says that we can give him contentment.
52. S. (01:50:17) I'm trying to understand the lesson we had yesterday where you talked about the miracle, that exiting Egypt is a miracle, because I spent the entire evening watching that lesson over and over again, but once we've exited Egypt–you talked about 40 years, which of course is not a calendar year. Is the work that we need to do after that point strengthening the vessel to bestow because there's more evil that's going to be revealed as we go along and is that what the 40 years means?
R. The vessels that grow in us become more subtle and not heavier in their weight or volume they become more subtle more refined. It's like in every profession and in every field the more we advance the more we are able to grasp the finer details, finer and finer details.
S. The work doesn't stop because I think sometimes we feel that the work stops at the point of exiting Egypt. It's beginning to feel like the that's where the work begins at the point of exiting Egypt because you do not get into Israel immediately and you need the ten and the environment to continue the journey until you come to the end because there will be more evil to be revealed and correct it in this path, is this correct?
R. Yes, you can't say that it never ends. We need to reach the complete correction and it's written about it everywhere, rather it doesn't end with the exodus from Egypt that is correct. When the exodus we only exit from in order to receive and begin to acquire intentions, vessels, in order to bestow and accordingly we correct ourselves.
S. If there is no evil as you answered before, what can we fully reveal in this work and what is the Egypt in itself?
R. Just imagine if we were already corrected in advance, we were corrected in advance, what would we feel? If the Creator opens up before us once again this entire movie we have to go through, so what, we would feel anything bad in it? It would have been a process like a nature film but we wouldn't feel like we’re in it and we’re going through all kinds of troubles and problems, meaning everything is only relative to a person who has to go through correction, only in order to correct him.
S. I'm leaving tomorrow and I just wanted this opportunity to say to you that for all my years I've always yearned to be here for Passover because I felt that Passover belonged to the Hebrews and it doesn't belong to us outside, and I was telling the friends that even though I've studied for over 10 years I've never actually attached myself with the Passover and I've always just listened to the lesson and go away because I thought this was just for the Hebrews. You brought Passover to my heart and you dragged me here and I felt for the first time that Bnei Baruch has done a miracle and the miracle that you don't know that you have done is that you've brought Passover to the entire nation of the world and as I was listening I couldn't help, I felt it so much, I said the entire nation of the world is represented on the screen and in this room and if we think we have performed a miracle, that in itself is a miracle, because I've been explaining to my own family that I'm here and they're asking me whatever you doing here and I'm saying to them I'm bringing Passover to the entire nation of the world and if you hadn't done it if you had invited us, the world would not have known about Passover so I want to thank all those who live in Israel. I want to make sure that you know that you brought Passover to the entire nation of the world.
R. So, Passover wasn't for nothing.
53. S. (01:57:37) Is there a difference between the Egyptians and Pharaoh or is it just like wordplay?
R. Pharaoh is the name of a force that is activated, through an individual, specific forces called Egyptians.
Reading excerpt number 209 (01:58:13) “ The work must be in faith..”
54. R. (01:59:48) Good, okay.
55. S. (01:59:57) Is it true that if I care for the friends and ask the Creator to help in this it becomes very easy and joyful?
R.I don't think so. I don't think that it's easy. If you enter this work or you have to care all the time for all the friends and be in it and be devoted to them in such a way where it's more important to you than how you think of yourself. It's not so simple but this is the work.
S. When egoism awakens in me it's not easy work.
R. That's what it's talking about. You feel how much you have these forces that oppose the care for the friends and you have to constantly live in the care for the friends.
S. But when I awaken the Creator then it becomes easy through prayer?
R. We shall live and see. For the time being I don't see anyone who is coming to the state where he is entering care for the friends and that's where his life is and he’s drawn to it and don’t stop me, I only want that, meaning that he wants it like a great big will to receive. I don't see such a thing yet. I didn’t see people corrected in this way.
Reading excerpt #210 (02:02:05)
56. S. (02:03:38) I wanted to ask about the hard work. Do we need to ask her hard work because at the end of the day it's suffering?
R. No, we don't need to ask for hard work. If the work is according to the desire then it is not difficult, it’s not hard. Only work that is against one's desire to the extent that it is against the desire we feel the difficulty from it.
S. According to the example that you gave, the hard work, is it sweet pain or bitter taste?
R. Which example did I give?
S. I heard you say that there is a sweet pain or bitter pain?
R. Yes.
S. So what flavor do we get from hard work?
R. Doesn't matter if it's hard work or not it depends on the type of work it is. If I work for myself or I work for someone else in my will to receive or in the will to bestow one factor does not say anything it does not mean anything it is clear to us I think.
S. Sometimes we feel that working is warm, and sometimes we feel like the work is burning. Is there any connection here?
R. No, we can feel it only through the group where all of us agree, all of us reveal the force that is keeping us, holding us, the upper force, and then we can somehow aim ourselves towards the Creator.
S. Thank you Rav, another question about Passover. We have experienced a week here and I wanted to ask, did your expectations be fulfilled?
R. I think you went through a great process this week, a long process, you dug deep into the desires, intentions, and actions; and you deserve to enter the work in order to bestow. Each one in his place will begin to receive I would say announcements, messages, whereby you will be able to connect even more between you and feel that you are more in one heart. And that will be as a miracle from above. You will feel that this time that you moved farther apart, physically you haven't moved farther apart, internally, spiritually.
S. Thank you.
R. You are many and I am one, and that's why I am out of energy. Let's have a workshop between us, maybe share what we received through passover. Summarize the lesson, collect the questions and soon we will connect here again at noon.
Workshop: Summarize the lesson and put together questions.
