RABASH, Article No. 587, "The Upper One Scrutinizes for the Purpose of the Lower One"

1. S. (04:27) What is that the screen is doing, what does it mean to not want to receive the abundance?

R. The screen is that decision of the lower one that he will not receive anything for his own sake but instead his whole existence is only to bestow through others to the Creator or in order to bring the others closer to the Creator. Because to the Creator himself there is no way to bestow, we cannot relate directly to the Creator, as it says if you are righteous what can you give him, there is nothing to bestow to the Creator. We can give him only a place, a desire he can fulfill and what can we do about this, this is to bring people closer to the Creator. This is giving contentment to the Creator because there is no other action therefore when we disseminate, let’s say we expand our groups, this is actually the only action we might say by which we can give contentment to the Creator in practice, this is how it works out.

S. He writes that the lower one wants to cancel his existence only to be in for his name, how is this possible?

R. The lower one which man feels that his whole existence is in the will to receive so he wants to get rid of this and to get rid of this means to stop existing so much so, he hates his own will to receive, doesn't want to accept it. As it says I am better off dead and with that he turns to the Creator asking for correction.

2. S. (07:03) I always wondered how much I can use my desire to a lower percentage?

R. How can you know that now I am working with this part of the will to receive or a different part of it. This is only after you are already in control of it, but when you can work with it, then you gradually have the ability to somehow relate to it in such a way but not to start with, how would you know where is your will to receive? In which form? What are you cutting from it right now? Some slices and working with it, it is not possible. First you need to attain these things and after you have attained them on different degrees, smaller degrees, in the preparation, then you can start to work with them but not to begin with that you know that right now you are cutting off from your will to receive some 20% and you work with it, how can that be, it does not make sense even according to our own reason.

S. It is written that the upper one prepares for the desire, everything, to the degree in which the lower is ready for it. He prepares the infrastructure and I need to operate there.

R. We will advance and then you will see how it is done and we will talk about it. You think that you will be able to work with your own mind and sort out the will to receive and decide that I am doing this and I am doing that and in which form. Everything is done only through nullification to the upper one, not that you decide and you weigh things and you do things. Only through nullification to the upper one, increasing the nullification more and more and we will learn it along the way. It is impossible to explain but you need to know that with your own mind you can hardly do anything, our mind only helps the emotions a little bit.

3. S. (09:43) It looks like from this writing that the moment a person builds alone, the prayer is given selfishly?

R. If it isn't selfish request it is not called a MAN because it's cannot rise up you cannot make any impression there is no action in the Creator but rather MAM is called Mayin Nukvin, waters of the females and the Nukvah female means weak will to receive that ask for a screen, asking for understanding, feeling, help, this is all called: MAN.

4. S. (10:55) It says that the upper one corrects this MAN. What is this correction of the MAN? What is actually corrected here?

R. It is that the lower one raises a request and this request is still not fit for the upper one to take care of it and the upper one then corrects this request so it would be truly in a form that it is possible to answer from above in order to bestow, it should be in the right form in order to bestow and then he gets an answer. Like a baby that somehow speaks in such a form that only his mother can understand him and then she understands and she answers and then he feels that he has some connection to the mother but this connection is only because the mother wants to understand him it is not that the baby is raising the request in the right form. This is the same with us, there are many kinds of MAN, there is the first MAN, the second MAN etc. as we correct ourselves more and more until we reach an answer and we understand the upper one and He understands us.

5. S. (12:44) There is the manner of communication with the upper one when the lower does not understand then he's not in that area, he doesn't understand the upper one, relative to the upper one that is correcting the MAN and giving what is suitable for the lower one what is this mechanism that works here in that way?

R. That the lower one very much wants to bestow to the upper one, wants to connect with Him, he is ready to connect with the friends and by that he builds the infrastructure for connection with the upper one. Then the upper one is ready to help the lower one and to arrange this request for him as well, we need as much as possible, as much as we get the possibility from above to organize our connection with the upper one. Which is to show the upper one how much we depend on Him, we’re in adhesion with Him like a baby with the mother. Because there is a connection between them then the mother helps the baby with everything, she does everything for him. This is how we need to do it. The connection to us from the upper one as from the mother to the baby exists however the connection from as to the upper one, like the baby towards the mother it is still non-existent it is not felt in us and this is what we have to develop and we develop this through the group. To the extent that you are not connected to the friends, to that extent you are not connected to the Creator. You remember what Rabash writes about the friends that the flat ground does not separate between us and I feel that they are standing in my heart etc. How he writes in that letter. This is how it is, this is the vessel for the connection with the upper one, this is the vessel to raise MAN, a deficiency because the deficiency should only be about the connection between us the upper one is ready for all these connections but this is only the connection between us that is missing so we could receive from Him all the corrections and fulfillment.

S. Can we define this kind of connection as one directional from the upper to the lower at this stage?

R. That always exists but this connection is not a connection that develops because we are in a state, in relation to Him, where only according to us raising a deficiency to Him the upper one performs all kinds of actions on us, He develops us.

6. S. (15:59) Yesterday you said that we have to learn how to raise a MAN, can you tell us how to build this?

R. Usually we get deficiency from the environment as much as we want to connect with the environment we get an illumination from above and this is what built-in us the deficiency to connect with the Creator.

7. S. (16:41) The lower one hates his will to receive and therefore he wants to cancel himself to the upper one or is it the reason that he wants to cancel his existence?

R. The question is not correct, it is not that I cannot stand, that I hate my will to receive, I hate it only that it is separating me from the Creator and it is not the will to receive on its own but it is the intention to receive. So here I have to sort precisely what is my desire and to what extent it is necessary, essential on one hand and to the extent it requires correction on the other hand, then it will be more clear what it is that I need to want.

8. S. (17:50) I am constantly trying in the work between the friends to nullify, to feel like a zero before the friends but it is very elusive, it runs away and I try again and again and I go back to being me again all the time, I fall back into myself even when I think about this and I try but I go back to being the same selfish self that I was before?

R. This is excellent, this is what you are given from above so each time you can renew your connection with the friends and the group, each time, every moment it should be new, every moment should be as new, so it is good you can progress thoroughly, each and every time, truly.

9. S. (18:49) He writes in the middle of the paragraph that he wants to nullify his reality and it turns out that all his existence that he feels at the expense of Lishma, for her name and it is not the other way, how is that?

We do not feel this, we feel something that is something that are on nature establishing for us which is entirely the opposite, is not even opposite, it is completely not the Creator it is called an imaginary world, what are nature is depicting to us, giving us this imagination and our whole work is to cancel our own false senses and the gradually instead of them to reach the five truthful senses in which we can feel both the space, that place and also what exists in this place which is the upper light.

S. So who is here that is at the expense of ‘for her name’ (Lishma), what is this?

R. It is regarded as for her name (Lishma) it means that I do not want to perform any action to my direction but only for the benefit of the Creator, only outside of myself. Through such efforts I acquire the nature of the Creator which is pure bestowal and then I start to feel truly what it means to exists outside of me because as it is I can only feel myself and I feel myself, I feel this world everything that I feel in this world, these infinite distances, the whole universe and everything it is only in my own world. It is all about what I discover in my desire for myself and in that there is nothing that is truthful, nothing that is correct. Then I begin to cover this in order to bestow then you do discover a completely different world, a completely different reality, a different force that operates and this is the Creator.

So when does he work at his own expense and not at the expense of Lishma, so when can the person start working at his expense and not at the expense of the Creator?

R. He is always working for his own account, always working for his own sake, this is the person's nature.

10. S. (23:04) Is it necessary to be able to name a deficiency, to effectively turn to the Creator for a correction or is it enough just to feel that deficiency and turn to the Creator with that feeling of deficiency which we cannot name at a time?

R. R. All of this is possible only on the condition that we aim ourselves to in order to bestow this is the force of Bina, the force of faith and then inside of this force of faith dresses the light of the Torah. This is difficult to explain for the time being, we will get back to this for sure, in the let's go to the next question.

12. S. (29:33) What is cancelling his reality? Is there a difference between his cancellation and existence?

R. How could I explain to you these are things we have to attain and our whole attainment is in feeling and then we will understand what it is about, revoking, nullifying reality is when I remove myself from determining what reality is or will be.

13. S. (30:16) What is this principle of the commandment of the Creator which rejoices Him?

R. The precepts or the laws of the Creator, the main one is love your friend as yourself because if we attain the love of others whatever is existing outside of us by that they attain the force of bestowal and the Creator already places in this force his own light, revealing himself because in respect to the Creator we cannot work, we have no vessels for that. All of our vessels are in respect to others. This is why the Creator created the will to receive and broke it into pieces so through the connection between these broken pieces, giving to each other mutually, we can give opportunity to the Creator to reveal himself to us. That is, the reality we feel, that spiritual reality which we feel which we discovered through nullification, connection, concern The Creator created it artificially it seems to us, so world is from the word, Olam, meaning concealment and as much we relate to this world in a way that we want to give to it by this we invite, drawing the same quality from the Creator so he will bestow to the world through us and then in that world, in that area, place, we meet with the Creator and we reach adhesion with the to the Creator.

14. S. (32:24) When you say that we have to get out of ourselves, it doesn't mean that we have to get out of our physical body but it's from the will to receive for myself this is through what I perceive all this reality? Is this correct?

R. Yes, our physical body does not appear in a single word in the wisdom because it is not related to spiritual think it was given to us for the time being to bestow us this feeling as if we lived in a physical world, in a physical body in the still, vegetative, and animate, and speaking in order for us begin to develop our senses but in truth, it is all called an imaginary world. When we begin to develop relations to this imaginary world gradually through it we get bestowal and influence from above and then we begin to think, to feel, to detect, all kinds of phenomena that do not usually exist in our senses in this world but rather we can somehow depict to ourselves what spirituality mean, what is in order to bestow mean, because this is the primary thing. Our whole world is operating according to the law of reception and the whole upper spiritual world operates according to the law of bestowal. These two worlds do not meet as if, even though the upper world fills everything which is the force of bestowal. However the force of reception cannot feel if you can only feel whatever exists in its corporeal realm and therefore it does not hinder or belong to the upper world. All our work is how we can reach the feeling of the upper world which is by developing within us the force of bestowal, and here we have a problem, that it is against our force of reception and these two worlds exist in contrast to each other.

Therefore, each has to help his friend through the study, drawing the reforming light, whatever we need in order to gradually acquire the vessels of bestowal, the desires to bestow, intentions, more correctly, it is the intention to bestow, for this we can be grateful to the Creator for creating this world and this society where we can practice and perform exercises such that through them we more and more draw light from above, the upper light even though we still exist in order to receive. However, we can try to perform actions in order to bestow and this also builds in us actions in order to bestow and this is how we gradually begin to feel that there is such a thing in order to bestow, this is not inside of us, we are opposite it. We do not want this, this quality of bestowal, of love which is the quality of bestowal, love, concern for others, instead of concern for ones selves. However we, nevertheless, get such discernments and gradually out of that we get closer to these things and the light works in the meantime another lesson, another meeting and this is how we suddenly begin to want it, that I actually want this things out of envy, lust, and honor that brings a person out of this world. I begin to want this. Everyone is doing it, how come I am not and then we begin to ask and then we begin to learn how to ask correctly which is called raising a MAN, that indeed the deficiency toward bestowal and the deficiency toward connection and love, this is what we want. We want what is called not exactly in order to bestow, but nevertheless we come from Lo Lishma, as much as we annul ourselves in the connection between us as much as from the connection between us, we ask and then there is in it, already an element of annulment. Then according to how much we annul ourselves to each other, to that extent we annul ourselves towards the Creator and then we are in some small percentage of equivalence of form with Him. Then He is able to bestow to us and He helps us to rise above our will to receive and then to reach the quality of bestowal, and then in the quality of bestowal we begin to feel a sense as we call them and then we fall again to our will to receive, which is considered a decent. This is the way ascents and descents all kinds of changes in states and we actualize them and therefore each and every time, even though you don't feel them, it is a great charge. It is like you are filling the batteries and this is how you advance. Sometimes by charging them I might feel worse, where this is the recognition of evil, this is also a new revelation. Sometimes I feel that I am actually ascending and this is called good but there is no bad or good but these are the two forms of the same spiritual reality and this is what we are getting closer to.

15. S. (40:09) I did not understand but one sentence, what does it mean that the person must renew the faith which is called Daat and Dvekut above the intellect?

R. A person has to each time renew his inclination to bestowal, to love of others, leaning towards the Creator. All together the Creator we say He is everything, He is the inclusive. You probably heard it from me more than once, why is He called everything that includes everything because as much as we care for the general correction of reality that is how we care for the Creator. He is the source of all of reality, He is the place for the whole reality not that reality is His place, this is why this is how we relate to mankind to reality outside of us in such a way that through this we come to his essence which is the Creator him, we call the Creator, BoReh.

S. What is the function of the reason in this, Daat?

R. Daat (knowledge) is what connects Hochma and Bina and builds in us the feeling of reality with the understanding of reality that is called Daat.

16. S. (42:35) I wanted to ask, that every lesson is a spiritual charge you say that in every lesson you give us a spiritual portion that is unique, what does it mean that we as the 10 absorb this charge, how to receive this how do we know if he received it or not what exactly is this process of getting the spiritual charge?

R. You need to connect before the lesson together and for this we have the preparation, let's say for 15 minutes and we in this connection between us we try together to receive the lesson. Meaning what the teacher teaches us and mostly it is Rabash and the earlier teacher what they try to give us for connection, not for each and every person but for the connection, what we received from the connection between us how we advance from lesson to lesson in an increasing connection between us with a changing feeling in it. This is very important for us to move from ‘I’ to ‘we’ and by this we begin to feel more that the Creator is there where the Creator’s attitude to us exists.

S. There is the preparation before the lesson and then the lesson when we get this portion and then after the lesson during the day how to get with this charge during the day?

R. Whatever I received during the lesson throughout the day I want to scrutinize, I want to implement, I want to connect to my friend's, we talk, we learn, we read all kinds of verses, do all of these things at least a couple of times a day. This is how we do this and this renews me and brings me back to the same direction and I scrutinize these things and it has nothing to do with the intellect, it is mostly a feeling, the more I can feel these things then I can understand. It has to move through our feelings first because it is not the wise that learns, that’s what’s written and this is what is right. Only through our feelings and here too we have to understand patiently, to the extent in which the soul of man is higher or greater or heavier, then it is more difficult for the person to grasp these new things to agree to them and he becomes very stubborn with his ego and incapable of changing himself. It is truly very difficult for him to bend himself and to change himself, also when it comes to the connection with the friends and with his new perception, it is only to the extent that his will to receive is great. This is why it takes him a very long time and efforts but as it is written, how to attain the Torah by the form of anything but leave. Meaning anything but leaving this path you have no choice, you have to attain the purpose of creation for yourself and therefore continue and then you will get there. Later on, later than others, this means that you will attain even more than the others.

17. S. (47:13) In dissemination, the reality we exist in, there are states where we want something but we are not successful then we give up and ask, then sometimes things happen when we feel we did not do them. Does it work according to this principle?

R. It is written what you can do with your own forces, you do, and this is all that I can answer you in this.

(49:09) This is the truth, it’s not too bad, it is good that a person feels this way because each discovers his own shattering and this is why there is no person in the world with the same breakage like him so he is truly worse than the others. It requires a lot of learning & education to understand this and each time you have to test yourself to see if you are not fooling deceiving yourself and it is also helpful to lower yourself in front of the friends in practice, but you have to be mindful that you lower yourself only before those right people. If you want to do this in practice then you will be able to nullify before the friends and the group and not before strangers, but he should know with certainty that he is the worst and the lowest in the world since this is the truth. We have nothing to be afraid or ashamed about in front of each other, we are all in a state and the more we grow, this is how we will feel ourselves as smaller and the wiser we become, we will discover ourselves more foolish and it's always like that, this against that. This is why we have to stabilize ourselves correctly in the balance between good and evil and between the same scale, between truth and false because the most important thing is to arrange a state between us all, that we are like on this flying saucer and then we fly towards the Creator.

19. S. (52:45) It says that you should test yourself to see that you are not fooling and deceiving yourself, how would I test myself?

R. This is not important whether you deceive yourself or not. In truth we do not know but we have to test ourselves, we try to examine ourselves to somewhat enter into ourselves, this is the point. It is not an issue whether deceiving ourselves or not, of course everything is a lie and deceit for the time being. But that’s how we do it, we need to check we need to try and that attempt, this trying has to be together between us all in the group and it should awaken us all towards the scrutiny and examination of our claim to the Creator to give us forces to understand, feel and examine ourselves correctly.

20. R. (54:29) A student and his teacher the truth is, it can be each towards his friends, one’s this way and one’s that way, it is not a matter that one is the teacher and then he is high and the student is low. But rather each needs to be in nullification like he says, always a student before his teacher needs to be in true annulment and this is how it should always be towards others and my soul shall be as dust to all in every possible way. Because then, he unites with Him and can operate for Him because then the Creator can enter into this annulment as much as he nullifies himself and there corrects him and sorts him, arranges him correctly in a higher degree in the system, to the extent he shows himself as lower, he becomes higher in the system and this is how we advance from both sides.

21. S. (55:40) It seems that annulment is the opposite in contrast to prayer, what prayer can one have who nullifies himself?

R. No, the fact that I annul I don’t erase myself from reality, I nullify my ego I do not want to be critical towards all of reality but I remain, it doesn't mean that I erase myself and I do not exist whatsoever. Annulment is the cancelling of the intention in order to receive, towards it we work, because the will to receive for itself is not good or evil, it is the matter of creation but the intention in order to receive, that is what we need to nullify and we talk about that. Usually we say the will to receive, and it’s not correct, it’s, in order to receive. Meaning that we do not need to cancel the desire, you also cannot cancel the desire because that is the whole matter of creation, that’s the whole of creation, but all in all what needs to happen here is the intention, for the benefit of oneself in place of the intention of others, for the benefit of others or for the Creator which is the same thing.

22. S. (57:17) Recently you talk a lot about the topic of the heavy souls, how to relate to a friend who always seems to be depressed and doesn't turn the camera on, what should we do about it?

R. He should be happy that he has a big soul and therefore it’s heavy and that’s why it is hard to correct it but from that he actually, he specifically gets from that good results, a high soul, that's how it is. Anyone who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater and because his inclination is greater than him then he reaches a higher degree and becomes greater than his friend.

S. (58:09) The thing is, it lowers the general spirit?

R. This is completely not correct, we need to understand that from here till the end of life and from incarnation to incarnation until we reach the complete adhesion, we cannot come out of this. Not by your desire you're born, it is not by your decision when you die, but rather take the reality you were given and perform corrections and reach the goal. You only have one possibility, to choose the same thing the Creator chooses or if not then He will have to teach you that you need to choose what he chose anyhow, towards you. There is no possibility here of running away but more suffering or less suffering, more time to waste on stubbornness on your behalf or you could reach the goal faster and reach adhesion. You could look at the whole world and see what's happening with the whole world, we are in the last generation and we have nowhere to run to. You will see day after day what happens and even more and even more, that we are being closed down like in a vice, where everyone will have to enter this work but everybody at their level, their degree in a personal and individual way like us, where we unite into groups and connect to the Creator but life, as others have different work, they have the work of the collective of the general folk. But they will also have to, from the suffering and from our explanation, have to understand what to do to survive in the world. We in order to adhere to the Creator but them in order to survive in the world and without any explanation. Look how people are living, they do not know for what or why and what is going on. In short let's go, you need to feel yourself, on the contrary that what you have received and not to throw it out.

23. S. (01:00:53) Rav you explained the excerpt, annulling before the teacher should also be the relations between the friends, we learned that between the friends should be annulment in practice which is felt, so the question is internally, when we go to the world and we want to disseminate to the world should we also be internally have this feeling of annulling before all the people in the world?

R. No, and he explains this more than once that a person needs to annul but only towards his friends, we clarified this today. In excerpt number 30 where he says, if you wish to cleanse the sins from you, you should engage in annulment in place of mortifications, meaning for you to feel that you are the lowest and worst than all the people in the world and we require much learning and education to understanding this and each time you should try to test yourself and see if you're not fooling and deceiving yourself and it is also beneficial to lower yourself practically before his friend, however you should be mindful to not lower yourself anywhere but before the proper people, and if you do so practically, you can do that before your friends and that’s the main thing. And you should be certain that he is the lowest of them all.

24. R. (01:03:44) It is clear that we are closer to the Creator to the extent that we diminish our will to receive so it is in order to bestow.

25. S. (01:03:58) I can understand why I need to see myself as the smallest of the friends but I do not understand why I need to see myself as the lowest of the whole world.

R. You see the truth or you do not see but you seemingly are being like an example, a simulation of the truth. You are broken and shattered. You have no attainment in spirituality, no degree in order to bestow. You are completely in the will to receive in this world. To the extent that you are in the attainment of the will to receive, even a little, even if you do not suffer from this too much.

Even in this world you have no true attainment, no true emotional attainment. To the extent that you imagine yourself as being in the worst possible state, worse than everyone else, then at least in potential, not in a true feeling, but potentially you will depict yourself in the true state.

This is how it is with each and every one. It is not one at the expense of the other. In spirituality there is no one at the expense of the other, where if I am the worst, then the others cannot be as bad as me. It is all relative to the person himself.

26. S. (01:06:97) How do we apply this to family members who are not on the path?

R. We show them that we love them. Only that. Without changes on the path, without the ascents and descents, without the purpose of life, or the purpose of creation. We just show them that we love them.

27. S. (01:06:54) When I cancel myself will I see that the Creator is constantly bestowing to my 10 through me?

R. Of course you will.

28. S. (01:07:17) When do we make the friends great and when do we lower ourselves?

R. I cannot explain right now when we exactly raise ourselves and when we lower ourselves, when we raise and lower the friends in our eyes. It seemingly sounds like the same thing to raise the society in my eyes or lower myself in my eyes, but it is not the same thing. The action and the result is different. Therefore the question is very good but I can't say what will be in place of what. We need to raise the friends in our eyes and we also need to lower ourselves towards them. This is what Rabash writes to us, also in The Social Writings, in his articles. Try to do this. It is a very good question, we will get back to it again.

R. I'm worse than them all. I am the worst of all according to the forces, the qualities that are in me. What gives me the ability to exist is because the Creator is sustaining me. That in my entire life, in my essence, I have nothing of myself of my own. I am being held this way from above on a string and that is why I exist. I cannot say that I that have something in me but from that that feeling of dependency on the upper the force that is holding me on that string, from that I can actually come the recognition of my greatness so that I could be connected to Him to bestow to Him, to be beloved upon Him and so on. R. I do not think it is worthwhile for you to engage in that for now. You can just take the materials that we recommend for dissemination. Do not talk and do not explain anything yourself because it will confuse you and them. Nothing good will come out of it. We have plenty of material for dissemination. Just try to spread that in all kinds of ways.

R. No. That is just the beginning of each and every degree, where we start to feel ourselves how much we lack correction and from that we raise MAN and we receive forces from above called MAD. We correct ourselves and that raises us to a higher degree. A new world opens before us, a new reality, a new connection, and a new Creator. Each day I have a new Creator.

32. S. (01:13:50) Why is there such a gap between the corporeal and the spiritual worlds?

R. Because they are opposites, there is no distance between them. The corporeal world exists only in our imagination. The spiritual world is called the world of truth and the corporeal world is called the imaginary world, the imaginary one, and this is what we need to attain. Then you will see that there are no distances, only that one of them does not exist. As it is written, ‘we were as dreamers’

and we are now lacking understanding, lacking awareness and this is actually our reality.
