Passover - Selected Excerpts from the Sources. #33
Passover - Main page for all chapters
1. Rav’s Introduction: (00:15) Yes, yes, I think although I should say a few words about the importance of the material that we are studying but in truth we can see it from the material itself. How it is in the center of creation and around which everything we feel daily and if we could see, we would see all the actions and deeds, all the news, everything that is happening in the news between the nations. Each one it is all happening because we are coming closer to more and more tangible corrections according to what we study. Let's continue and be pressed more deeply about what we are studying and how it's passing over us and it is changing our reality and everything around us because soon we will have to enter this system and feel how to what extent it is alive and is working and surrounds everything.
Reading Excerpt #33. (01:52) “Before they saw the situation-..”
2. R. (03:00) Meaning we are going through periods in our study, in our lives, in our inner development, our spiritual development where we reach a state where we are attracted to knowledge, to intellect, to reason. The most important thing for us is mainly to know what is going on, what is happening, in which world, in what place, in which degreed, what incident.
We go through such a period all of us some more, some less men, women, people who are drawn to knowledge by nature and those who on the contrary can't stand it. Either way this period is the first of its kind similarly and it may take a long time. The light works and operates until we come to a state that changes a person, until we come to a state where we learn not in order to know but in order to connect between us and to the Creator.
Therefore we gradually come out of the study itself de facto, but we do it like a science and we stop trying to find out how something is happening according to the text, AG ,SAG, restrictions, degrees and so on and so forth. Rather, more and more we become sensitive and we want to know how we can come closer to one another and not move further apart from one another. How do we come closer to the Creator and not move further away from the Creator? In that stage comes after the study itself since by that we come to know our state, our spiritual state, our own state, and not something that is written in the books and the degrees, AB, SAG and so on. We come closer to a feeling, to feel where we are, who are we dealing with, how are we connected? We can raise ourselves to a degree where we can feel the essence of the connection, which is the creator. Here with you, now, we can say this is where we are right on the threshold between exile and redemption.
Exile is when we are disconnected from one another as friends. That's how before the brothers fight they can't enter Egypt. From this recognition of evil, this recognition of the ego we come to the next degree where we can't stand one another and that causes them to go down to Egypt. I keep reading and hence we will give the exile to feel that they did not progress in nearing the Creator. All their work sinks in the Klipot, the shells of Egypt. Finally they saw that they had no other choice but to take upon themselves the work of loneliness which is faith above reason and yearn for bestowal. Otherwise they feel that they are in the domain of the Sitre Achra, the other side. Baal Ha Sulam writes in Shamati 86.
3. S. (09:18) To be successful in nearing the Creator you have to take up on yourself faith above reason?
R. We will reach everything we need because even to say now to reach 'faith above reason',for that we need before and during or after but we need to work. We need to work on the connection between us. According to what he recommends and to say these words of 'faith above reason', if we are still not in it. We don't feel the need for it even, then what good does it do?
S. That's exactly the matter, that each time we learn about the exile and we read about it a lot and the question is: what does it help us with the knowledge of the exile because we ourselves don't yearn for it?
R. Yearn for the exile, we can't yearn for the exile. When we are in exile we can't know that we are in exile because it is opposite to our state. On the contrary,we need to yearn for connection. This is also against our will to receive, we have no need for it, rather we are in this state we keep going, wherever we can. This means that we are not entering Egypt, rather we are in the preparation for going down into Egypt. It's like Joseph's brothers who are still outside of Egypt and they have a conflict between them and they sell Joseph and all those other things according to the story of The Torah. By the way, I recommend you read what is written in the Torah regardless of the language but read the story itself. It will help us understand better the flow of what is going on with us.
S. What do you recommend for a story from the Torah concretely?
R. Well first of all the Torah itself, what is written in the Bible which is the sons of Jacob, the sons of Israel, the sons of Jacob. Except the smallest is called Jacob and the greatness is called Israel, Gadlut. When they arrived near Egypt, roughly a place where we are, something happens to them and they begin to argue. They can't get along. They come out of that place in the direction of Egypt when there is nothing to eat there is only famine in the land and they come to a state where they sell Joseph because he interrupts them. We have to understand that Joseph is the one who keeps telling them we have to gather, connect between us and then this inner voice that exist in them, this light and faint (voice) They don't want to hear the voice, they want to to leave it according to their egos and they seemingly sell Joseph and that's what caused them to to go down to Egypt. We will learn about it some more.
4. S. (14:49) Is every moment that a person is not thinking about the friends and through them to The Creator that means that is under the domain of the Klipot ?
R. Yes.
S. What does it mean that the brothers sell Joseph?
R. Except for one quality in a person called Yosef, Joseph, the one who assembles and collects all of the qualities no other quality by itself can recognize that they are in exile. Only Joseph explains to them where they are and what they have to do, that they need to gather. The name Yosef [Joseph] comes from the Hebrew word Osef, to gather, to assemble,
5. S. (15:48) Is it better to read the Torah or there's this book,'The Secrets of the Eternal, book ?
R. You can get away from it at least reading it once, maybe not only once, until we get a copy of it inside of us. Then there are other additional books that we wrote. Simon v.. wrote. It's good it's good but their Torah, the Torah is above everything, it is the source.
6. S. (16:51) When it happens in such a way that the brothers fight what helps us not disperse not fall apart, how to hold on?
R. The greatness of the goal, the greatness of the goal. I am in a group and I feel like leaving and running off. I am in contact with the family and I feel like running away and then I feel myself free. A man has all those tendencies and inclinations. I need to say to myself only one thing that is the most important thing is to remain on the path to the correction of the soul. Somehow the end is near with respect to this life so that's why I want to take the opportunity that I was given in this life and reach the goal; which is to attain the goal, to open it up, to live in it and fly with it to all the highest degrees that were prepared for me. That's what I need. Everything else is not too important. How do we actually live and what's so great about our lives if not that through this life we can attain eternity and wholeness.
7. S.(18:49 ) What inner thought and inner intention we need to have in order to read the Torah even though it is very difficult and we don't understand anything about it, what are the intentions?
R. We need to read, we simply need to read. One time to read or twice three times, to have a certain copy of it in our brain in our memory. Later it will help us to connect the text of the Torah and the flow to all kinds of articles by Rabash and Baal HaSulam and in general; we will see in our life how much it is actually working. Whatever it might be, this is the source upon which everything else is built. Everything else is built upon this.
8. S. (20:06) You mentioned that there are different levels of feeling in a passage that reads that ‘we need to be able to see and feel how opposite we are to The Creator’. Where do we get the vessels to feel and see that we are opposite the Creator, are they corporeal vessels or do we need to acquire new kelim?
R. We can't do anything, we need only to realize what is written. Meaning to be as close as possible to the text that the kabbalists wrote and to be as close as possible to one another according to what the sage's wrote. Then, gradually one influences the other; the text influences our feelings and the feelings influence the way we understand the text and we begin to discover what is written.
9. S. (21:13) What is this force within a person that enables him to hold onto this path of correction?
R. No one has the power to traverse the path from the ego to Lishma, to bestow, no one. Because those are two ends, two opposite states: the nature of the created being where we start from and the nature of the Creator that we come to. Hence what we need to do is simply to do what is written as much as possible and when we feel like we can’t do anymore, we can't pray? The Creator will do and that's what will make us enter a level of bestowal, to the forces of bestowal.
10. S. (22:38) You said before that a person himself cannot come to the recognition that he is in Exile and only the feeling of Joseph or the quality of Joseph can bring him to this recognition. What is Joseph in the ten?
R. Joseph, from the word L’esof, to collect together, gather together, assemble, that’s called Yoseph, Joseph; that’s why he kept telling them in the story in the Torah that they needed to connect and they didn't agree with him, to such an extent that they ended up selling him. They didn't want to work on the connection and that's what we feel about our nature that we don't want to work on the connection. But then reluctantly we go down to Egypt and through much suffering and many actions against the desire and with no other choice, we will reach a state where we have to connect. We have to help each other because a person cannot help himself but when he is with the friends then ‘each shall help his friends’. Then only in this way can we advance. Therefore the quality of Joseph is that special quality that we need to acquire, that is the connection between us.
11. S. (24:52) The selling of Joseph is felt as a personal deficiency towards the creator or we sell the collective Joseph and only that loss creates a void that we need to fill with something?
R. We want to connect and we cry out and we are mad at the Creator for having such a work in connection, but since there is no other choice we reluctantly over time we do those actions until eventually The Creator helps us and brings us together and that's how we advance. Everything is being done over time through our non-stop activity.
12. S. (26:04) You said at first that we are in that border line in the connection between us. What is that state?
R. On the one hand we don't want to be connected. On the other hand we somehow hold on to one another because the Creator is holding on to us, He is holding us in this way so that for the time being we’re between the two. Let's hope that over time we will understand that we have to hold on to, to maintain the connection between us, to collect all the means for connection and bring them together into one steady connection, and in this way we succeed actually.
13. S. (26:58) I feel that we want to connect, we long to connect but not in the right intention we want to connect for ourselves to receive the fulfillment that the Kabbalists discuss.
R. That's ok. We will see in the future how much we can or cannot, want or not want, but we need to check these things. Your direction should be connection: You should check today how much will you drawn to connection and tell us tomorrow what you find out? How do you yearn for connection? It is written ‘I am Lovesick’ that indeed you will feel that you are sick for not having the love of friends. Let's see. Let’s see to what extent you can reveal that.
14. S. (28:17) It says that they have to take upon themselves the work of lowliness which is the work of faith above reason, so they are in lowliness and the work in faith above reason is low for them?
R. Yes.
S. Why is the work in faith above reason low in Egypt, they want to exit?
R. No, they don't want to. We haven't discussed it yet. They don't want to come out of Egypt, they want to stay in Egypt and they don't even feel that their work is in lowliness. That is ahead of us we will talk about it.
15. S. (29:08) There are a few questions about the longing for connection: First, I have to examine myself when I examine myself I don't always find this great desire for connection but specifically when I can't find it and I follow the ten to some activity of connection it transforms inside into something else, you get Incorporated with the friends you become part of the process. That's one meaning, If I check I see I have no desire then I go with the friends and it appears. The second thing is, we have many events of connection. What do I aim for when I make the choice to go or not to go?
R. As much as your ego is rejecting you outside, nevertheless through the influence of the environment you are going towards the connection, towards the assembly, towards the gathering and you are moving towards them in spite of the ego.
16. S. (30:44) If Joseph is the one who looks for connection and bestowal, what does it mean that Joseph arrives in Egypt? What is the goal?
R. The goal, the purpose of Joseph in Egypt is to gather together all of those fragments. Meaning all those distant brothers and what was born out of this family; 70 people entered Egypt and those who came out of Egypt were like millions. So, what are they talking about? They say that the force of Joseph is what held them together.
17. S. (31:52) Is only a small group at the end of connections to the world come out of Egypt or is it a personal state that we are going through and I personally see the world going through that state?
R. I work in a ten even if I am weak in my intellect and I lack a special sensitivity in my heart; the ten complete the missing qualities in me and I also come out of Egypt. But for that I need to somehow be connected to them.
18. S. (32:49) The quality of Joseph that gave the brothers the ability to connect, opposite from our state that we need to connect the ten?
R. What is the opposite? Joseph also wants to gather them together so that they’ll be ‘as one man in one heart’.
S. the difference is that we news as a ten to include the whole world in it?
R. We are not talking about the whole world, for the time being we are talking about the ten.
S. So how is it different from what we do today?
R. Check it and see? Check it and see?
Reading Excerpt #34. (34:40) “ He went out to his Brethren and saw..” twice.
18. R. (39:09)) That's what we need, to reach a state where we want to be A Man, Adam, Dome, meaning similar to the Creator; and to see that we have no quality in us that resembles the Creator, the quality of love, bestowal, coming out towards the others and so on and so forth. Then we ask that we must reach it, that we feel ourselves inside that will to receive as in Egypt, inside the exile or in a closed place as if we are being locked in and they don't let us run away from the exile to freedom, just like in prison. That's the state in which we need to see ourselves in, then we cry out, we disagree with this state, we wish to escape our ego that is closing in on us; and through these cries we obligate The Creator to take us out from exile to freedom, from the will to received to the will to bestow. Then we begin to reveal instead of the will to receive of this world; to discover the upper world in the desire to bestow.
19. S. (41:17) How is the quality of Moses born in the Ten when we are in Exile and we don't even know it?
R. That's how we begin the work between us meaning we don't know the state between us meaning The Creator assembled us gathered us from all the countries all the languages from all corners of the world and he brought us together this mixture of people and took some form of connection and he told us that we must connect. Meaning, He placed this idea in our head that we have to connect, we have to come closer, we have to help one another to give examples to one another. How can we be connected and then we need to realize it and implement it? This is our work.
S. When we read the sources and we hear your explanations that can help awaken this quality, this human quality?.
R. It is desirable.
20. S. (43:29) In the text it says that there was no one. What does it mean is this the preparation of a person?
R. Yes and he saw that there was no one he discovered that there was no one he is looking for the quality of Man of Adam in him the quality of bestowal of connection and he can't find it inside of him this is the meaning of and he saw that there was no one no one.
21. S (44:10) There are plenty of allegories in the text, How to correctly Define the states like An Egyptian man striking an Hebrew man?
R. It means that in every person it says that a man is a small world therefore he includes in him the Seventy Nations of the world and the quality called the nation of Israel. Man needs every person to examine this quality in him and to know what to do with it. So the fact that it is written that he discovers that the Egyptian man is striking a Hebrew man it means that the will to receive in him called the Egyptian because Egypt is called harsh shell it means that the Egyptian man is striking the Hebrew man everyone who wish to come out of Egypt that is called that means to go out of to crossover over to come out of Egypt that it is why is called a Hebrew called …. those who wish to remain in Egypt are called Egyptian and those who wish to come out of Egypt are called Heberw and one strikes the other the Egyptian strikes the Hebrew man because he wants to run away from Egypt. we will understand all of those things. It's not a problem that everything is quite smoothly.
22. S (46:07) It says in the excerpt that he is not using the desire like that of a beast so the question is how can a person choose what desire to use it's looking like the desires are managing me and not the way other way.
R. But I can check and I can examine with each and every desire that awakens every moment what desire operates me and that is how I advance. If I have a desire that brings me closer to the friends or pushes me away from the friends and through the connection with the friends connection with the Creator, am I drawn to that or not? One drop joins another and another one until these are a great some total. If I work this way day after day then I discover gradually bit by bit not on the first day of doing this test but I later discover how much discernments I accumulate both in regards to getting closer to the friends and moving away from the friends and through them towards the Creator and that is how I come bit by bit from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.
S. But it looks like the desire to come closer doesn't awaken on their own, only egoistic desires awaken on their own.
R. Don't worry it takes a few years but we have enough years in order to make all the corrections happen. I'm telling you that from my experience I have not yet completed all the corrections but I can tell you that you get there and you improve and change and transform and see the path as a successful path.
S. What does it mean not to use the desire how do you do it? How can you truly control the use of the desire?
R. To use or not to use the desire it is how I weigh this desire as important or not important. Let's say I wanted to lie in bed today and not wake up. Really I haven't slept half the night, I fell asleep maybe at 10:30, 11:00 p.m. then as usual I had to wake up before 2:00 a.m. So not enough hours to sleep what can I do? But I overcome and now you see me coming to the lesson giving the lesson. There's no choice it all depends on the importance so we have to work on importance.
S. In the story about Joseph I heard at the beginning of the lesson that he wants to connect the friends, the brothers, and the brothers resisted him and they do not want to hear that voice so they sell them. There is this point that they are mad at him because he seemingly wants to control them to rule over them with his dreams. So what is this anger that they feel when he comes to them he's not coming to them as equal he seemingly comes from above them.
R. Because he tells them that you all have to listen to my voice and bow before my opinion and so fourth and of course they do not agree because they each have a different point of origin, why do they need to hear Joseph? Therefore they do not agree with him and that caused them separation and the descent to Egypt.
S. That is the question why does he tell him them that you have to bow down before me why doesn't he…?
R. Because he understands according to his quality called Joseph that he needs to gather them, that only by gathering them as one they will have the force to move towards corrections.
S. Where do we see in the work this thing where we have to bow down and we are not ready for it?
R. We have to bow before the quality of the gathering, of the assembly, of the connection. That each one must lower his head towards the connection meaning the connection is above all.
S. What is this annulment what is subjegation of the head? What does it mean in practice to annul yourself?
R. In practice it is that the group that is connected is a strong group and it has the power to overcome all the disturbances and reach the final correction. What is this that the person that he says that the group does what it wants to do with me?
S. How is that expressed? I want to annul before the friends in the ten, what do I do?
R. What do you do you just need to slaughter yourself if you are asking about yourself. Such a big ego is yours you have to completely nullify towards the friends and connect to them and be with them just as one man with one heart.
S. How can a person slaughter himself what does he do?
R. The will to receive, his Beast is being slaughtered.
S. Thank you.
23. S. (52:57) What is the essence of Benjamin the brother of Joseph from the same mother?
R. No, no, no. We are not going to get into all those details about the different brothers and all their characteristics each one of them it only will confuse us . It is just sufficient for us to know what is Joseph.
S. We know that that the father Javov didn't see his son Joseph for years and he cried over him but in the Torah we know that it's also happened with Isaac and Aaron, our fathers. Is there a connection between the two of them?
R. Yes we will learn that also afterwards of course there's a connection. We will see it.
24. S. (54:15) He sees the Hebrew man. Torah is said to be the attribute of Moses. What does it mean for the attribute of Moses to strike the Hebrew man?
R. The Hebrew man or Jewish is not Jew in the way that it is referred to today. Jew means one who yearns for unity, for connection. That quality within each and everyone regardless of nationality that quality has to be a conspicuous, unique quality that exists in those that want to be near the Creator. These people are called the people of God. because they long to cling to the Creator. Sometimes they are called Jews from the word Yehud and they're called Israelites from having this direction,Yasher El, straight towards God, straight to the Creator but it has nothing to do with nations and nationalities that we see in our world meaning every person as Baal HaSulam writes black, white, yellow, red or so forth so all can enter the same framework that connects everyone and everyone comes to a state where they are called the people of the Creator, the people of God or nation of God and they arrive at the final correction.
25. S (56:50) The Exodus from Egypt comes only from the fact that we have no other choice or does it come from the fact that we gradually feel that bestowal?
R. No the Exodus from Egypt we feel it as a necessity to do to escape the rule of the will to receive.
26. S. (57:41) When I do not see the friends and don't look at them during the morning lesson or during the gatherings. the question is how do I collect how I gather the friends all in the same direction the same direction desire to reveal the Creator>
R. You will have to get closer to them after all and connect to them and embrace them and that they will embrace you because otherwise you will not leave your corporal place and move to the spiritual space. you have to feel their embrace literally and how you are all rising towards the Creator meaning you are becoming connected and reciprocal more and more. without that you will not be able to move from your corporeal place to your spiritual place.
27. S. (59:05) Right now when I'm thinking about the Klipot and the exile, you see that the exile is some kind of exile but this is my my swamp, my dirt, my stench and I begin to get use to it, accustomed to it and the instead of crying out to theCreator. In general who am I calling on to the Creato does this exist in this place with the wrong that I did.
R. You still do not even imagine to yourself how much you are lying in this filth and how close and beloved it is to you. The Creator prepared everything for us and He knows how to take us out of it and raise us to the peak to the top above everything.
tells a person to come, you can do it .you can do it, no it says you cannot do it. What is the purpose of it? We are seemingly in it.
R. The Klipa changes us from one end to the end there and beats us and from right to left and confuses us so that we leave this will to receive for itself that we have and be a little bit more mixed with other discernments. We have to just continue. It doesn't matter the state that I am in, even the worst. I hope that soon it will all change and I will emerge.
Reading item #35 (01:04:58) “The Egyptians despised the food of the Hebrews since all the bread of the Hebrews..”
28. S. (01:08:00) This story of the exile from Egypt is depicted as a long journey prepared by the Creator to bring us to bestow. Is there no quicker way to do it, for example with a strong desire.
R. Please if you have another work plan then what is written in the Torah, let's see it.
S. Maybe from heart to heart, when we unite heart to heart in the ten in order to look for the Creator with heart to heart in order to look for the Creator. I think not mouth to mouth but heart to heart.
R. It does not matter, it is the same. In short , let's learn and then you can ask in a really serious way that is based on something.
29. S. (01:09:16) Is it possible to discern that we are in Egypt at the bottom of the pit without fights and arguments in the ten.
R. You need those to understand that we are at the bottom. Well we have to recognize in a mutual desire that we are in the complete ego and that we have to rise above it. That is our work regardless of.. forget Egypt and all those terms. We have to rise above our egoistic nature and connect together in the ten, that is our goal. Try to make this action and it will be called the exit Exodus from Egypt, exiting the ego, overcoming yourself. That is it and then you will see what becomes revealed to you. As you are doing it you will discover a completely different nature within you, different relationships and most importantly the Creator, the quality of love and giving that governs the world and not the quality of devouring and competing.
30. S. (01:11:31) It says in the excerpt that the Egyptians dislike the bread of the Hebrews because their bread, meaning their nourishment, was in order to give. And for Egyptians, the bread was evil eyed. If in the 10 we see the friends as bigger than us, they have to set the example. We have to sense ourselves and examine ourselves and discover that we are in the quality of reception, is this the correct work?
R. Yes.
S. If I see the friends as great, they awaken the 10 towards connection, towards being constantly in the quality of the Hebrews. How not to worry that I'm also not in the quality of the Hebrew and instead look for the evil eye inside me.
R. Well every person has to scrutinize it within oneself. I do not even know how to say it. When I long to exit my ego, that means that in my aim I am already called Yehudi or Jewish or ivri-Hebrew which comes from the word to cross, to cross over. I'm trying to cross over from the quality of egoism to the quality of altruism, otherwise I'm not considered Yehudi Jewish.
S. How can I check that in the 10 I am in the quality of the Hebrew and not the Egyptian. Even if I, right now, I think that I'm awaking the 10 and I am uplifting.
R. You can examine yourself along with the Creator.
31. S. (01:13:49) Why the pleasure a person derives is so great, where in fact it seems that we are in torment and we are suffering. We seem stubborn, why is that?
R. We will soon discover that. We will discover it ma’am. In the meantime it is closed from us.
32. S. (01:14:16) How can the Egyptian feel the taste of the food of the Hebrew, the taste of bestowal.
R. The Egyptian cannot feel this taste, they can just feel that it is repulsive, that it is gross to them.
S. How can the correction be?
R. Correction means that we have to replace the quality of the Egyptians with equality of Israel's to aspire to the Creator.
S. That is only going to be with the help of the Ten and the prayer?
R. It is only through the connection in the Ten. Sometimes it takes a long time, months and even years until a person realizes there is no other way. If he has the right environment and if he has a soul that opens up, then he will understand where he is and what he needs to do. If a person feels that he is in order to receive and he has to reach in order to give, meaning that he is in Egypt in order to receive and he has to emerge from this quality of Egypt. Meaning to move in order to bestow, which is called Israel, the land of Israel. Then he begins to move towards that, to advance towards that but it does take a long time.
33. S. (01:16:46) In relation to what Baal HaSulam says the end of an act is the initial thought. Do we need to imagine or depict how it is to be outside of Egypt? How can we depict such a thing if we did not taste it and have not experienced it?
R. From being in the will to receive so in comparison to it we can imagine what they will to bestow is that we can still depict this connection and disconnect love and hatred. The Creator is playing with us and taking us through contradictory states and by that we slowly begin to be included from the two.
34. S. (01:17:44) In reason everything is relatively clear but we need to move everything towards feelings this transition to feeling needs to be as a result or does it happen?
R. Does need to be with some order of cause and quality consequence it has to be emotional we have to constantly chew it and process it.
S. Is it a means to move to the feeling?
R. Yes you need to chew it and chew it and chew it and feel it in all different manners until it will enter your inner sensation.
35. S. ( 01:18:38) Where is that middle line between the Hebrew and Egyptian?
R. The Egyptian meaning the one who is working working on the will to receive in that place that he needs he decides that he needs to exit towards bestowal.
36. S. (01:19:14) Is Arvut our means to reach Israel and is Israel the perfect connection?
R. Yes, correct.
37. S. (01:19:29 )What is the difference between the Hebrews and the Jews?
R. There are a lot of names that I cannot interpret now. This depends on the heights and qualities and the intensity of the connection between them no we will not do it now we will learn all the discernments along the way.
38. S. (01: 20:10) Can there be evil eye bread in the Ten?
R. Try try. if there's likely that there is.
Reading item #36 (1:20:54) “ Pharaoh is the evil inclination that is within man's body”
39. S. (01:21:47) We really see that we are doing work to overcome and we're making some step above reason, suddenly there is this fall where the body resists everything and pharaoh, this evil inclination, gives you all the possible excuses why not to do this act of connection. The question is how can you silence this or will it always be with force?
R. You learn that from actions. There is none so wise as the experienced.
S. So what do I do the moment after I do this overcoming, that second after right after?
R. You start working with the quality that you overcame and as a result acquired.
S. And there's always this gratitude right?
R. It doesn't matter it could be gratitude it could be that you were going straight towards the action.
Reading item #37 (01:22:56) “When the person begins to walk on the path of the creator, Pharaoh king of Egypt..” twice
40. S. (01:24:06) I'm in the young group in the point in the heart and I have all these things in me and what I'm saying to myself to be a sponge in water to be incorporated and it is already the beginning of going. How do I make some form of scrutiny?
R. We are constantly speaking of these scrutinies; they are done by the mind and the emotion.
S. My question is not precise. How do I know where I'm doing this scrutiny from?
R. What do you mean where from?
S. If I have this Pharaoh in me that is constantly throwing me all kinds of things I need to check just about my connection connection and incorporation in the world Kli and my desire is to be, just like everyday at three there's a player so I feel my body is being revived just before that, like 1:30 is already living but besides that I do not know to truly do a scrutiny. What can I contribute to the ten, what can I contribute to the Kli?
R. Well scrutinize according to these questions, what can I contribute, how can I invest all of my strength in advancing my ten, meaning that I'm leading them I'm pushing them forward. How can I scrutinize this? What do I need to add to them for my qualities? Through what actions can I awaken in them, awaken them, revive them, scrutinize this.
41. S. (01:26:09) Why does pharaoh detain the body so that they will not be able to bestow?
R. Because this is His nature, He wants them to work for Him for the bodies and not for the soul.
S. Sometimes there is a feeling that we are doing everything correct and still the pharaoh holds us back. why?
R. I guess still not everything is being done correctly.
S. What aren’t we doing correctly, what needs to be done?
R. To demand help from the Creator to be together through prayer to the Creator so that He will help us and take us out of Egypt.
42. S. (01:26:57) Can we say that when I resist the action of the ten which compels me in some way with the excuse that there is no coercion in spirituality it’s pharaoh telling me to do so?
R. Please repeat.
S. Can we say that when I resist the actions of the ten which obligates me some way or demands something from me and I say there's no coercion in spirituality is it possible to say that pharaoh is talking within me?
R. The ten cannot force spirituality onto you because the ten is in itself a spiritual object.
S. We have this contradiction in us a lot of times where on one hand we are really connected in the Ten and the ten in some way kind of obligates, on the other hand when it happens then we say that there's no coercion in spirituality, if I want I come if I don't want I don’t come and I don't owe anyone anything.
R. This has nothing to do with spiritually you have nothing to do. To come or not to come to a gathering of the ten this is not related to a spiritual choice, it is before choice.
S. Rav, if you can scrutinize this, I don’t know.
R. Why do I need to explain? If you do not want to get together and connect that there's nothing to explain. You are before the beginning of the act.
S. What actions can we do before we are in spirituality?
R. Give an example to others, an example.
43. S. (01:29:29) Is Pharoah effective until we enter spirituality because a person overcomes ego enters into spirituality or are the Egyptians still fighting with us or are they silenced once we succeed.
R. Pharaoh helps the Creator to bring a person to the goal, for and against in both directions. Help against him and the opposite as well.
44. S (01:30:37) Does Pharaoh at some point start being help against them?
R. No, but by resisting he is helping the nation of Israel exit Egypt that is why it is help against him. It helps, but it is as if against. If he would treat the Jews Israel nicely they would not escape Egypt. That is why by resisting, he is doing them a favor.
S. A friend is asking if Pharoah can deviate a person from the path?
R. No. Pharaoh, all in all, is the Creator's force.
45. S. (01:31:50) How can we use the help of the Creator to our benefit in the 10?
R. When we're speaking of what we are experiencing, we are reaching the understanding of the act of the Creator through the act of Pharaoh on us and then we know how to take an action on our behalf towards him and this is how we walk, and this is how we advance simply to open the state and to speak of it. And you will see how the state itself tells you how you need to do a certain action.
46. S. (01:33:19) To talk about Pharaoh, it sounds like some immense power but it comes from the Creator. We cannot even feel how great he is. So how can we, on one hand, feel that he's imprisoning us and on the other hand we have to free ourselves from him?
R. On the one hand he's pushing us towards the purpose of Creation and on the other hand he's doing it from the negative side. We need both this and that. Pharaoh is the Creator's force acting seemingly against him that we will feel one thing and its opposite-ness, from the opposite.
47. S. (01:34:37) When I reach an agreement with the Pharaoh in us and the quality of giving that we just read, does the form of my giving become from a simple form of giving to the form that is benefiting the Creator?
R. Yes.
48. S. (01:35:07) There is a certain picture, some concept of surrounding light that I depict to myself, every person depicts to himself and sometimes it does not exist in our perception. Is this a sign that now Pharaoh is now in control?
R. Yes. Now we are more under the domination of Pharaoh.
49. S. (01:36:24) If I want to emerge from my desire for myself and want to be a Jew and my friends each has a desire he's supposed to annul his desire for the benefit of the others. If so all the desires differentiate and seemingly no desire remains. So question is how to build a common desire in which the desire of every friend will be connected to that same common desire and to unite under that desire and not to cancel all the desires but to adhere to the common desire.
R. You need to work on this, scrutinize this and then apply it. You will not be able to scrutinize this verbally so quickly, it will confuse us.
50. S. (01:37:19) When I perform a scrutiny inside of me between the Hebrew and the Egyptian, how do I know who is right and who is the Hebrew and who is the Egyptian? What gives me that discernment?
R. Whoever is inclined to connection is considered the Hebrew and whoever is for reception is Egyptian.
S. But each of the sides always try to give me justifications..
R. I do not justifications or not it's very simple, simple as that I'm not going to go argue now.
51. S. (01:38:07) What are the klipot that govern the body below reason to make it resistant. Can we name them?
R. Oh yes, of course we have the name and and the values of every single klipot, but it's not for now, we will learn it.
52. S. (01:39:20) When we emerge from Egypt does Pharaoh remain behind or does he always accompany us along the path, that force of Pharaoh.
R. No no no. When we are exiting Egypt, Pharaoh is leading us until the border and then he shuts the door behind us. That is it.
53. S. (01:39:42) How can we correctly use the force of Pharaoh? When he resists always, do we always need to resist? Do the opposite of what he says?
R. Yes
54. S. (01:40:32) Friends in the 10 have different qualities and I cannot connect with each and every one of them. There is a resistance within me to connect fully. What can I do to move forward from this point?
R. To nevertheless find a quality, that through which you will be able to unite and start uniting, start uniting.
55. S. (01:41:08) In Torah there is something that took my interest. Why is the only person whose birthday is mentioned is Pharaoh?
R. Because he considered his birth date, that he was born, he exists this great will to receive against the Creator and that is why it is written like this in the Torah, that it is a birthday for Pharaoh. In general we do not celebrate birthdays. For children until the age of five six but not for people older than that.
S. So the meaning behind that is that the difference between righteous and the wicked is that righteous does not adhere an existence to himself and says ina matov.. but Pharaoh says that I exist, I work and I live and I'm alive. So, he is claiming an existence in front of the Creator and can we say that this makes difference between Pharaoh and Moses.
R. Let's say. There are many more discernments.
56. S. (01:43:16) I heard that when we exit Egypt, Pharaoh closes the door behind us. But until the final correction, there are degrees we have to rise upon. So what actually causes us to move from one degree to the next afterwards?
R. Still when we receive from that same will to receive that we revealed in Egypt, we discover upon it corrections and rise. Everything is built as we say as a remembrance to The Exodus.
S. How do you discover it if he is no longer there?
R. It's there, just not to reveal that it's dominating us. It is still in any state, in any desire, in any action.
57. S. (01:44:23) What is Pharaoh and what is body in a person?
R. Pharaoh is a will to receive in order to receive and the body is just a desire to receive pleasure.
S. Another question, Exile is a feeling that we cannot connect with the friends or a lack of connection with the Creator?
R. Lack of connection with the Creator.
Reading Excerpt #38 (01:45:00) Pharaoh comes from the words “Parah … (Twice)
58. R. Yes and then the person does the action in order to receive, these are actions…
59. S. (01:47:20) Pharaoh comes at a later stage of the exile?
R. He is revealed from within the person as a demand in order to receive.
S. It seemingly feels that the feeling of Egypt is this general blurred feeling and then suddenly?
R. Yes, yes before that a person doesn't really feel that he is in the ego, the revelation of the Pharaoh is already the revelation of the ego in man, it is a step forward.
S. How do we in the Ten come to the actual necessity of the necessity that Pharaoh is being revealed and we are showing it?
R. Pharaoh is revealed in us as much as we want to connect between us. The Pharaoh is revealed between us as one that resists connection and then we begin to be, it's called ' help against him' and these actions against him. Then they began to be this battle between Moses and Pharaoh, until we started experiencing these different stories we have in the Torah. Pharaoh coping with Moses, that Moses says to him "Let my people go" and Pharaoh doesn't want them leave his dominance, Until eventually they reach a state that there is eventually no choice and the people of Israel want to escape Egypt to such an extent that it forces the Creator to take them out.
60. S. (01:49:14) The question is if Pharaoh himself is corrected and if not, then what is this help against him, what is corrected?
R. We will learn it. I don't want to talk about the role of pharaoh in degrees that are close to the final correction and to extend that it's necessary and to the extent that we need to do everything to remember all of the Exodus. We will learn all these things so we have entire panorama.
S. What is corrected if we don't correct Pharaoh what is corrected nevertheless?
R. Pharaoh corrects people the parts of creation that are in each and everyone of them. and he gives them the opportunity to resist the actions of connection, bestowal, love and this is this role.
Reading Excerpt # 39 (01:50:48) "Generally, Amalek is called the “evil inclination…."
61. R. (01:51:30) Okay that's for our knowledge.
Reading Excerpt # 40 (01:51:37) "Baal HaSulam interprets that the Sitra Achra…"
62. R. (01:52:17) That clear? all the organs all the desires that we use in order to receive are called the workers of a Pharaoh.
Reading Excerpt # 41 (01:52:35) "Israel means Yashar Kel…"
63. R. (01:53:30) Also I don't see questions.
Reading Excerpt # 42 (01:53:37) "know for certain etc. That…"
64. R. (01:54:52) Yes, if a question awakens in men "who is the Creator that I should listen to Him?" Then the person is under the dominance of the Klipot.
65. S. (01:54:52) What does it mean that the abundance comes down and then Pharaoh…?
R. The abundance comes down to a person but on the way Pharaoh has the possibility of grabbing and holding on to this abundance for himself.
S. Is it possible that when pharaoh dominates the will to receive the abundance still comes?
R. Yes, certainly.
S. How because if the work is…?
R. The will to receive is meant to draw, to take this abundance, to suck this abundance that's why the Pharaoh can do this.
S. So during the work you can always draw the abundance even when we still are not working for the Creator?
R. It's by this that we come to the states in which we later feel darkness that we cannot receive.
This is called the help against him.
66. S. (1:56:09) so the article says that there are there are organs that serve the Pharaoh. What are the opposites, is it the connection between us in the tens the organs that serve the Creator?
R. Repeat.
S. So the article says that there are organs about 248 organs in us that serve the Pharaoh, the will to receive, so my question is what are the organs that serve the Creator, is our connection with the tens and all the different tens that connect the organs that serve the Creator?
R. The corrupted organs meaning in order to receive and serve Pharaoh and the organs that are corrected, serve in order to bestow are called the servants of the Creator.
S. So she's asking, are the corrected organs the connection between us and the tens?
R. If we can come to in order to bestow and bestow to the Creator that way then certainly yes.
Reading Excerpt # 43 (01:58:04 )
67. R. (01:59:29) Where if we don't rise above the will to receive we cannot run away from Egypt. That is how it is. It is a very big problem.
Reading Excerpt # 44 (02:00:50): "We find such as this in…"
68. R. (02:01:55) Yes, meaning with the force of faith above reason we can emerge from the control of Pharaoh but not in any other way, okay?
69. S. (02:02:17) A question of a friend is all of our work to bring Pharaoh closer to the Creator?
R. No, we need to separate between them, between the quality of desire to receive in order to receive which is Pharaoh and the final bestowal which is the Creator. On the contrary we need to differentiate, to distance between them to invert this from that.
70. S. (02:03:04) What does it mean that Pharaoh is no longer in control of a person?
R. Pharaoh no longer controls the person meaning the Creator gives His forces and the evil inclination is no longer is in control of a person.
S. What can he do now that he couldn't not do before?
R. He's between the two. There still is the ladder to the extent the person is under control of Pharaoh or outside of control or in the middle and that's it.
S. How is it expressed that a person can now do what he couldn't do before or what does he have that he didn't have before?
R. To be a free people in our land that is what he can do, that he is in his desire free from his desire to receive in order to receive and he can choose for himself the direction of development that he decides.
S. What can he decide? what does he now decide that he…?
R. He can decide to run away from Egypt even in darkness to run away, escape.
S. Where's the person escaping too what is he…?
R. It doesn't matter where as long as it's from the desire to receive in order to receive he doesn't want that force to control him, to govern him.
71. S. (02:04:48) What does the evil inclination do by absorbing this abundance, where is he hiding? Does it collect?
R. Of course. He fills himself, he becomes big and powerful and by having this abundance he can temp the other desires so that they too will join him and receive filing from him. That is the entire force of the evil inclination in which it draws to her direction anyone that can fall under her desire to receive.
72. S. (02:06:09) How do we discover that we cannot beat Pharaoh within reason? How do we come to this place when we discover this?
R. We reveal Pharaoh from his opposite form. We want to discover him through the force of bestowal and not through the force of reception therefore we go through restriction, screen, reflected light, we raise ourselves upwards and then we start to work with the help against him and this is how we get to know Pharaoh. When we begin to get to know him we see that it is a great gift from the Creator that he prepared for us. He prepared for us Pharaoh and by the two of them Pharaoh and the Creator we can come to knowledge and connection with the whole of creation it is called to receive in order to bestow.
73. S. (2:07:48) I am in Egypt. How can I even do one action that is outside of Pharaoh's dominance?
R. By connecting with your friends
S. There are many concrete actions that I can do thanks to the group. How do I not let Pharaoh steal these actions?
R. That is by you connecting with the friends.
74. S. (2:08:34) It turns out that Pharaoh is closer to the Creator than I am from doing his role. Is that correct?
R. Of course. Pharaoh is the servent of the Creator he's truly carrying out everything that the Creator makes of him. We have a lot to learn from Pharaoh to the extent in which he does everything that the Creator demands of him.
75. S. (2:09:46) I understand that everything begins from a person's disconnect right, through all the actions throughout the day right?
R. Yes.
S. As soon as there is disconnect he needs to scrutinize is he in exile?
R. Yes.
S. Now I understand this entire process is in a state that there's detachment and we need to go through the entire process that we are learning about Joseph, Pharaoh in steps.
R. Yes.
S. And in scrutiny it comes out of the thought, it escapes, how to connect these parts all the time?
R. We will get this slowly, slowly we will receive it from above.
S. What, it comes with experience that I keep repeating it etc.?
R. Yes.
76. S. (2:11:06) Our friends that are with us in the morning lesson close their cameras during the lesson is that part of knowing Pharaoh?
R. I don't want to say that way but of course it's not okay.
S. Cause we have to recognize evil through the connection between us.
R. I understand you have nothing to do, you influence them and make an impact on them. That's it, what can you do?
77. S. (2:11:50) I remember from years ago that at a certain moment you were not pleased with our work during Passover, you said that we have the great numbers but it's better to be with small numbers and quality. Could it be that now we are in the state that we both have quantity and also very high quality of friends of connections? So my question is if we speak about it, how would this be expressed during the days of Passover? Is it more about inner work or should we focus on dissemination or how is it expressed this attack during passover?
R. We need to ask from those people that are mostly preparing the study material for us. That they bring us something that is closer to Passover that we will be learning what is considered Passover, what makes this holiday special that we rise above the desire to receive in order to receive and therefore all our corrections begin from passover from the Exodus from Egypt in which we arrive from the desire to receive in order to receive to bestow in order to bestow and then to receive in order to bestow and this is how we come out of Egypt towards the general correction. So we need to ask them to prepare for us materials according to that in the correct flow.
78. S. (2:14:03) You said that pharaoh does all of the Commandments of the Creator and we have what to learn from him but I also heard from you that the same is done by angels that they too execute all of the Commandments of the Creator? Can you clarify the difference between the Pharaoh and angels?
R. Pharaoh is an Angel. He doesn't do anything of his own, he executes everything according to the commands of the Creator.
79. S. (2:15:02) Asking regarding Excerpt 41, what a friend wanted to ask about the narrow sea. It says that it's narrow in Hassadim. Can you elaborate what is the narrow sea?
R. It doesn't give the possibility to bestow, that's very simple.
80. S. (2:16:00) Can you say that the same crafts that Pharaoh put on Egypt are the different forms of the will to receive?
R. Yes, well that's correct.
Reading Excerpt # 45 (02:16:44 ) The exile and enslavement in Egypt (Twice)
81. S. (02:19:31) From the excerpt: "And "You arose in Egypt who did not know Joseph", Question, Can you relate to what is happening in the world today?
R. Don't put me into your politics.
S. No, no, not politics.
R. I don't know I don't belong to this world.
S. What does it mean you don't belong to this world?
R. I don't belong to it. I don't know how to interpret these things. I don't know how to connect those things.
S. A new King, who is the new King?
R. What's the new King in the world now?
S. Money, economy, banks that are going bankrupt now
R. No, things like that have already been.
S. Like this. the whole world has been in turbulence?
R. Yes, we have been shocked more.
S. What does it mean that we are in a state like this? I remember you said after the convention that there will be a chance that we will overcome difficulties we have experienced and I see things are becoming worse and worse.
R. We overcame that state very well over that state and also the state today we are overcoming and it seems to me I look in a very optimistic way of the future of the world.
S. There are huge banks in America going bankrupt and it will influence Israel as well.
R. That's the problems of the banks, that's not my problem
S. It's going to reach our homes and we will not have food to eat.
R. Banks are not food to eat
S. What will happen to us?
R. We will eat.
S. I remember you once said that we're going to grow vegetables in our garden?
R. We will live and see, be calm, do what is upon you to do.
S. I'm doing but I'm seeing what is happening around in my work. I see hatred and the world is in shock ,you don't know where to go to the right or left. The question is, are our prayers helping? How can we improve the world state?
R. I don't know if you probably pray better than others and therefore there is such a mess.
S. The more Kabbalah you study, the more evil you discover in the world?
R. If we can't correct it with the good, then we correct it with the bad.
S. How will that fall into place in the end?
R. Will it fall into place in the end?
S. How?
R. Either from the good or the bad we will want the correction of the world. When I hear you now, then already I see that you are more concerned about the correction of the world than before.
S. Nice, I see that even personally I am being hit by it. I see friends and I see people in the world, I don't know how to improve this. How will we suddenly see that everything is good, everything is working, nobody's going bankrupt, everything is pure and pleasant? I'm with friends and everything and there won't be what to correct and people won't even know what to correct?
R. Correct the relations between people, that is it, nothing more than that.
S. Then will everything fall into place?
R. Then everything will work out because it all just depends on the relations between people.
S. With the help of the Creator.
R. Wonderful, that you said correctly with the help of the Creator.
82. S. (02:23:52) According to the excerpt Pharaoh isn't in contrast to the quality of Joseph and connection so why do they fall?
R. Joseph wants to collect everyone and bring them to correction. Pharaoh is the opposite. He doesn't want for everyone to connect and to come to the final correction. we are constantly between these two forces. they could be called differently.
83. S. (02:24:40) Do we need faith and patience? Can we pray for patience for our friends?
R. Yes, this is the most important thing.
84. S. 02:25 08) What is the order in which our qualities are revealed first? Moses, then Pharaoh and Joseph?
R. There's a connection between them and a certain order between them as well.
85. S. (02:25:33) What do you advise in the Ten so that we can direct the goal as the greatest goal of our lives?
R. Connection, connection is the preparation for every new state until the final correction in which we connect once more to the vessel of Adam HaRishon
86. S. (02:26:20) Throughout the lesson what is the most important desire that enables us to reveal Pharaoh's resistance?
R. The aspiration for connection.
S. There are different desires to study, ask questions, for the Ten to ask something?
R. There are situation where there are Ten people not just one, if they want toeventually connect they succeed eventually
