Excerpt 11 Reader (00:01 - 01:31)

50. R. We see how Kabbalists respect thieves, this is how we, towards the upper light, we do all kinds of actions around it because directly you can't approach, we prepare ourselves and all kinds of actions in order to steal it into our vessels.

Excerpt 11 reads again (01:58 - 03:00)

51. S. What is the shattering of the heart?

R. The breaking of the heart is a desire, breaking the heart is breaking the desire, that I for certain in my desire cannot attain anything, I also discover even more than that, that I connect my friends also in are connected desire to the friends, also we can't break that lock. Then we not to break, but to open the lock sorry, from our efforts, from our attempts wanting to open the door we see that there is no choice but that we have to break in forcefully, but that is against the desire of the host. We will do it at night when he's not there, but you're not afraid of the host? No we're not afraid of anything, how can that be that you're not afraid of the host? Because we want to come there and bestow to him, but it is against his desire, even if it is against his desire, even that. There is a matter here in spiritual work that we didn't really speak about, but here and there the Kabbalists mention it, we need to find more excerpts about it, that actually breaking into spirituality. This isn't for beginners, this comes later, but it's on the degrees of breaking through forcefully that we come to a state where we all connect like a group of burglars, like criminals that we work against the laws of nature we don't agree with what is going on but the law of nature is in us, it is our ego and this is what we need to break through. This is what we need to break and then from that breaking we do reach the Creator, that is it. Then supposedly comes to us and says, where you're where you I was waiting for so long you didn't show up as if it wasn't him giving us all of these states.

S. Do the writings of the Kabbalists always direct us correctly, it shouldn't go against what they write?

R. No you can't turn them around whichever way you want because a person is always turned around according to your will to receive, even if you turn it around and turn it around again it you will still be in your will to receive and this is why we should only go in one direction. We always break through the will to receive, the personal and common, so through the connection between us we can reach the Creator. Breakthrough, yes.

52. S. (07:01) Breaking the ego means turning it into bestowal?

R. No we have to learn how to do that, that is not simple, not simple.

53. S. (07:51) It says here that the essence of the key must be as a thief who breaks everything, meaning the hearts, must this be applied in all degrees in our work and how does it work on each degree?

R. Also on every degree there is something from it that we can break our heart, our egoistic desire and as he says the main intention is breaking the heart in subjugation and adhesion to the Creator, meaning breaking the heart in subjugation that I don't take anything I think or want, the main thing is how to be aimed through my 10 to the Creator. That is it and through them I want to be in adhesion, I have nothing else in life that can aim at me correctly only that, as it is written that every frame has a key that opens in the right direction according to the frame so is the key directed. However there are thieves who open without a key, meaning they don't understand all of these things with the frame, without the frame, with a lock or without the lock. Thieves don't understand and don't want to agree with all the limitations and they open without a key. But to open without a key means faith above reason it's not that you're going with your ego and breaking it like a burglar in our world. You are using the force of bestowal, faith above reason, breaking through the key, breaking through the lock in your heart meaning they break the frame, breaking the lock, so is the matter, every hidden thing has a key which is the intention that aims toward that thing, however the essence of the key is to be a thief who breaks everything mean to break the heart thoroughly with great subjugation and the separating screen above will break by which it locks the person.

S. Concerning the thieves and the Kabbalists who like to learn from them, you introduce this in one of your books and I have it here. We read an excerpt 11 that the author of Yosher Divrei Emet, the book that we are reading now, he quotes the Maggid of Mezritch. There are other sayings of this Maggid, the great Kabbalist from the 19 century who was the successor of the Baal Shem Tov says there are 10 laws in spirituality.

Three of them you can learn from a baby:

1: A baby is happy regardless without connection to anything.

2: A baby is never called not even for a minute.

3: A baby demands with all of its might what it wants.

Seven of them you can learn from a thief:

1: The thief works at night.

2: What the thief did not steal in the previous night he tries to steal in the following night.

3: The thief is loyal to his friends.

4: The thief risks himself to obtain petty things even meaningless.

5: The thief does not appreciate what he obtained and sells it for pennies.

6: The thief suffers blows but never comes down.

7: A thief sees in his engagement, advantages and does not want to replace it.

The Maggid adds, every lock has a key but if the lock can't be opened the brave thief breaks it, the Creator loves those who break their hearts to get to the king's Palace.

R. These words are very piercing. We should be like those thieves that know how to break their heart and then discover the Creator.

54. S. (14:08) What is the difference between opening the lock with a key or breaking it?

R. The key cannot open the lock, the lock can be open by the key, we say that they are suitable for one another because it is not enough desire that you go and resemble the conditions in order to attain the Creator, you even have to be above that, above reason, you have to break through upward, above. That is called that you want to be like to see if even though I don't deserve it. I am going to do everything to break my heart, to reach the Creator who is inside.

S. It is written that the key is the intention for adhesion with the Creator and the breaking is the breaking of heart, the breaking of the ego can you explain?

R. It is very simple, we should not stop before everything that disturbs, no, but in everything that disturbs us on the path supposedly it comes from the Creator and we want him to push that disturber away in order to reach him, that is it. Not to be afraid to break your heart, breaking your heart meaning break your ego, that nothing will be left of it.

S. The intention to the Creator is the standard and breaking means breaking the disturbances towards the Creator?

R. Breaking the whole egoistic desires.

55. S. (16:51) It seems like the process of the breaking is normal, regular in the method we see that the breaking of the vessels happens involuntarily, the light does it but here it is an act, voluntary act of breaking the heart in order to get to the king?

R. Yes, but it seems to us that it is us doing, the Creator stands behind all actions, all desires, all intentions, all of our requests and he turns us around as if we think it's us doing it but actually, he does it he just conceals himself more than it seems to us as if it is us. We do break through all of the keys and locks, the Manula and Miftacha, we will learn that from The Book of Zohar as much as we reveal it and how we reveal it, it is worth preparing it and we will learn it in some morning lesson. There is a lot of force of the lights, so we should learn it together, that it will help us.

56. S. (18:28) Our sages wrote that the Creator likes insolence, chutzpah, where is ours in the work?

R. Chutzpah is revealed in a person with himself, that he doesn't want to hear anything from his will to receive and only to be aimed towards the connection between the 10 and the Creator, his own will to receive that stands in his way is like a lock, a gate that he must break.

S. So breaking the heart, the ego what is it at the center of the 10?

R. Specifically through the connection with the friends that they will help you this is why the thieves like working in groups and also we who are very similar to those thieves, we want to break into a state that isn't opened, it is locked by all kinds of locks that every time we need to open another lock and another lock until we reach all of the degrees, until that King that we want to steal him for, that he will be our King. That is why our work is the work of thieves in the night, we don't want any limitations, we are willing whatever we didn't get today, we will get it tomorrow and that is how it will happen to us.

S. The thieves that night, is that waiting for the right deficiency?

R. Not to wait, these don't wait, they constantly invent for themselves all kinds of new states just to reach what they desire.

57. S. (21:19) What you just mentioned do we really want to make the host our King where we break into him without even understanding who he is?

R. Yes there are a lot of stories and novels, how the Creator behaves with the created beings and how the created beings need to organize themselves to reach Him to break through to his place it is all in order to bestow and how we can break into a place where we can’t. There are forces like in a magnet, so there is an anti magnet that is pushing you away constantly and you can't break through, so what do you do? In order to break against that force that you can't go through, you need to receive from him, to steal from him some kind of force that by it you do break through the screen.

S. Everything that was read is clear, what is not clear is that in the beginning the baby was being happy without a reason, what does it mean without a reason?

R. If it is spiritual work, by this you are going to go with the group to the highest goal in reality so it can't be that you're going to get there crying, with sorrow. It is not to the same goal, it is not the same person, but specifically to be in happiness and against your desire that you are happy to break it and in this way reach the Creator, it all has to be in great efforts and great inspiration that you open life. You see what's written in many books.

58. S. (24:10) The Maggid gave it over as three lessons to learn and 7 is this an implication that the 10 must learn it as a whole or it is an individual taking it on in the upper Nine helping him with it?

R. Each one and all the ten together, both.

59. S. (24:49) These excerpts go down very well when you are in connection with the friends in the 10, the more you love the friends the less you care about breaking your egoistic heart, in the connection with the friends, does that give you the strength?

R. Yes, only in the frame can we do it, we hope we are going to learn about it and break through that frame together, but I am happy that these excerpts awaken you. We will find suitable ones for us and we will work on it to read them together. We see how it awakens you on the path more than all the books and other things so that is great.
