741. “And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east. It is written, “I went down to the walnut garden to see plants by the brook.” See how much one must reflect and be meticulous in his heart each and every day, and probe into his actions and be meticulous about all his matters, and reflect in his heart, for the Creator has created him and placed in him a sublime soul and more merit than the rest of His creations only in order to reflect on His work and to adhere to Him, and not to follow vain matters.
742. When the Creator created the man, He raised him before Him in his shape, and the Creator sat and appointed him and said to him, “I have made you so you will be the ruler and king over everything for Me. I above, and you below, like Me.
743. “I am placing within you a soul for knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom, unlike the rest of creations. Be careful with My honor, be vigilant to do My commandments, and besides Me, no one will have a governance as honorable as you have.”
744. How do we know that He appointed him and cautioned him about that? It is written, “And He said to the man, ‘But fear of the Lord is Hochma, and turn away from evil is Bina.” That is, when the fear of Me is upon you, you will attain Hochma, which is above everything. When Adam saw that he was a ruler honored by everyone, he forgot his Master’s command and did not do what he was commanded.
745. The Creator did not make the man except in order to exert in the honor of His maker, as it is written, “All that is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory.” “For My glory,” and to try to know My glory, and to reflect on His works, so He will give him a good portion in the next world.
746. Each day, a voice emerges from above when the sun goes up and says, “Woe to people who do not see My glory and do not look to know and search My glory.”
747. When the sun turns its wings to follow the might of its wheels, they flap as it walks like an animal that walks and its hooves strike the ground, the leaves on the trees in the Garden of Eden, and all the high angels and holy animals, and the king’s throne and the perfumes in the Garden of Eden, and the trees and the sky and the earth and their hosts are rattled and praise the Lord of Everything.
748. They rise and see the letters of the explicit holy name engraved in the sun on its journeys, and praise the master of the world. A voice comes out, and they say and warn people, those who are not careful with the honor of the high king like all the creations that are mindful and praise His name.
749. For this reason, it is forbidden for a person to praise in his prayer except with the redness of the sun, which is seen over the clouds, since soon after the rising of the sun, as well as after sunset, a shade of redness is seen on the clouds, as it is written, “May they fear You with the sun,” before the rising of the sun.
750. The prayer and praise of the night, the evening prayer, is from the time when the sun has set, and as long as the moon is not seen, at twilight, as it is written, “May they fear You with the sun,” which is the dawn prayer which should be at twilight, “and as long as the moon shines, through all the generations” is the night prayer, which should be at twilight before the moon is seen.
751. It is implied from this that it is forbidden to pray before the twilight appears, as it is written, “Since from the shining of the sun to its setting, great is My name.” In what place, “in the nations,” in those of whom it is written, “For what great nation,” which is Israel.
752. The Creator made the ministering angels above to praise and glorify Him, and they sing and chant before Him each night. Corresponding to them, He made Israel below to praise and glorify Him and to sing and praise Him each day.
