Part 3: Lesson on the Topic of “Preparation for Convention.”

Reader: We're reading selected excerpts: Preparation to Growing Stronger in the Ten Convention. You can find the study materials on the websites. Number one by the Rabash.

Reading Excerpt 1: (00:24) RABASH, Article No. 10 (1984), "What Is the Degree One Should Achieve in Order Not to Have to Reincarnate?"

We have to know that all the souls extend from the soul of Adam HaRishon, for after he sinned in the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, his soul divided into 600,000 souls. This means that the one light that Adam HaRishon had, which The Zohar called “upper brightness,” which he had in the Garden of Eden at once, spreads into many pieces.

M. Laitman: Yes, go on.

Reader: Number two.

M. Laitman: If there are questions, go ahead. According to these excerpts. Two.

Reader: Two by Baal HaSulam.

Reading Excerpt 2: (01:22) Baal HaSulam, "600,000 Souls"

It is said that there are 600,000 souls, and each soul divides into several sparks. We must understand how it is possible for the spiritual to divide, since initially, only one soul was created, the soul of Adam HaRishon.

In my opinion, there is indeed only one soul in the world, as it is written (Genesis 2:7), “and breathed into his nostrils the soul [also “breath” in Hebrew] of life.”

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (02:13) It says that there were 600,000 souls and each one divides into several sparks. How can you explain that in every soul it is divided into a few sparks?

M. Laitman: It is divided. Yes, there are additional divisions in each soul so we will feel the soul that dresses in us. When we feel it, we will also feel its parts, the sparks in it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (02:55) The Ten, it's a spark, it's a soul, it's... what do we build there?

M. Laitman: A Ten is a complete vessel that seemingly you don't need more than that. But because the Creator created more than that, then we need to collect everyone into the Ten. And what we need is to feel what is being revealed in the Ten, which is already either a bigger Ten, or a Partzuf, or a world.

Student: So I'm going back to the quote. What's a spark?

M. Laitman: A spark is a record that has awakened.

Student: A record that awakens towards the Ten?

M. Laitman: Toward each one, toward the Ten.

Student: And we in the Ten that we're building are a common connection.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: What's the result of that? Do we discover our soul?

M. Laitman: We discover the general Kli, vessel, in which everyone are incorporated. What is the filling of that vessel?

Student: You're using the word Kli. So what's the difference between a Kli and a soul?

M. Laitman: A soul is a personal corrected Kli, vessel. A soul is also a general corrected vessel. And that's it.

Student: So the Neshama, the soul, it's a vessel, a Kli?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Many years ago you used to use the word prison, that through the Ten a prison.

M. Laitman: No, no, no, no, no. What for? What for? We're past it already.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:19) There's that concept that is called the soul of a person will teach us.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So it's more of a software than a vessel.

M. Laitman: This is what we say.

Student: So, to reach that state, which is called wholeness, it's shattered every time anew?

M. Laitman: I don't understand what you're saying.

Student: A soul is called wholeness, right? The sparks that..

M. Laitman: A soul is not wholeness. Wholeness is a state, a specific state in the soul.

Student: A special state in the soul.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And we discover it every time and it shatters again? The desire to bestow shatters again into the will to receive?

M. Laitman: No. It was breaking once and we are correcting it.

Student: Correcting it every time anew?

M. Laitman: No. Another degree, and another degree, until we come to the final correction, the end of correction.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (06:50) What happened to the soul of Adam HaRishon that was divided into 600,000? Is that a process of the shattering like the shattering of the vessels?

M. Laitman: It's a process like the breaking of the vessels, yes.

Student: What's the difference between the shatterings?

M. Laitman: When you correct this, you correct that as well.

Student: Why does the shattering happen?

M. Laitman: It's the Creator's will that it will happen, that through these corrections we can attain what is happening there.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (07:34) Baal HaSulam writes that according to his opinion there is only one soul.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So how does he write that there are 600,000 souls and one soul?

M. Laitman: That one soul contains 600,000.

Student: It's not one thing, a soul, that we have to discover inside, because it's only one, and this division is confusing?

M. Laitman: You need to learn it some more. The main thing is to feel. When we feel it, as a result, we'll understand it.

Student: So each one of us has to feel that there's only one soul and it's inside him?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And it's nowhere else, not even in the Ten?

M. Laitman: No, it does exist in the Ten.

Student: But this Ten is an internal thing in a person, right?

M. Laitman: Mister, what do you want from me? We'll attain, and feel, and see.

Reader: Number three by Baal HaSulam.

Reading Excerpt 3: (08:46) Baal HaSulam, "A Speech for the Completion of The Zohar"

The body with its organs are one. The whole of the body exchanges thoughts and sensations with each of its organs. For example, if the whole body thinks that a certain organ should serve it and please it, this organ immediately knows that thought and provides the contemplated pleasure. Also, if an organ thinks and feels that the place it is in is narrow, the rest of the body immediately knows that thought and sensation and moves it to a comfortable place.

However, should an organ be cut off from the body, they become two separate entities; the rest of the body no longer knows the needs of the separated organ, and the organ no longer knows the thoughts of the body, to serve it and to benefit it. But if a physician came and reconnected the organ to the body as before, the organ would once again know the thoughts and needs of the rest of the body, and the rest of the body would once again know the needs of the organ.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:38) So, each one of us is an organ and our body is the Ten?

M. Laitman: Our body, let's say it's the Ten.

Student: So is it worth thinking that the Ten has thoughts and desires? Is there such a thing?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And we don't recognize it because we were sliced off that body?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And the doctor is the Creator?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And how do we cause him to come and glue us back together into the body?

M. Laitman: Prayer.

Student: And in that prayer, what's the reason we're asking from him? Just to say, I want to be adhered to that body?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Does it matter why?

M. Laitman: We have to scrutinize it.

Student: How to scrutinize?

M. Laitman: Scrutinize, I don't know.

Student: I'm trying to understand, it means to discuss it in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Yes, why do you need to be connected with everyone?

Student: And in what way will it be a request for bestowal and not for reception?

M. Laitman: Scrutinize.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:01) I wanted to ask, when we do a convention, what does that work on exactly as compared to that one soul?

M. Laitman: On connection.

Student: Yes, I understand it's on connection, but I'm speaking on relation to that soul.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How does that work on the soul of Adam HaRishon when we do a convention?

M. Laitman: We revive a part of Adam HaRishon.

Student: This action, it's something personal from everyone? How does it happen? What does it mean that we're bringing it back to life?

M. Laitman: We connect a part of Adam HaRishon, its elements together, its components, and we draw the upper light to tend to it, connect to it, and fill it.

Student: What is that soul of Adam HaRishon made of? From individuals, from Tens, from what?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, all individuals, all the Tens, all the people, when they all unite as components of Adam HaRishon.

Student: So when a person, when we say that you have to go attain the vessel of your soul, what exactly are you attaining? What is that thing to attain, the vessel of Adam HaRishon?

M. Laitman: Ten Sefirot that together carry out some function in a general vessel called Adam.

Student: So it turns out that every Ten has a role compared to that soul of Adam HaRishon?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (14:13) Is a convention, it's an action of quantity? How do we turn that action in quantity to an action of quality?

M. Laitman: By wanting to achieve adhesion with the Creator, bestowal upon the Creator through a connection between us. This is how we come to it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (14:49) How does it happen that on one hand separate organs from one another, and on the other hand they're connected to one another without being separated?

M. Laitman: I don't know.

Student: Is it right to say such a thing?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Is the separation only in my feeling or in each one's feelings?

M. Laitman: Ask them.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (15:29) Can I put together a soul only from my private Malchut?

M. Laitman: Well, so?

Student: So where do we meet? Where can I meet the organs of the general soul?

M. Laitman: We all meet at the center of the common soul.

Student: When I try to put together the connection in the Ten, do I feel my private soul or do I come out to the general soul?

M. Laitman: You come out to the general soul.

Student: And my private soul, how is that connected? Is there such a thing?

M. Laitman: Yes, it's incorporated there as well. Maybe you should stop already for today.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (16:33) On one hand he says that the body and the organs are one, and then he says if some organ was sliced off, so they become two separate entities. And then he says that it's a whole body, and then he says that if it's sliced off, so what happened? You always say that there's no descent. How can an organ be sliced and fall? What happened? There's no fall, so?

M. Laitman: There is disconnect.

Student: How? How can it be a descent if he's..?

M. Laitman: There is a corruption.

Student: How does the corruption happen?

M. Laitman: We learned it in the breaking of the vessels.

Student: Let's say otherwise. A Kabbalist, past the Machsom, he's already on high degrees. He can suddenly be sliced by the organs as if he fell from bestowal?

M. Laitman: There is no righteous man on earth.

Student: So it really falls that he's not a Kabbalist anymore?

M. Laitman: Yes, there is. Don't believe in yourself until the day of your death.

Student: Yes, but you taught us that you reach a degree and you don't fall, that you don't reach a state that there's a disconnection between the organs, so I don't understand.

M. Laitman: So we'll have to get to know this as well.

Student: When we say that Rabbi Shimon went to the market, is that a disconnection?

M. Laitman: I don't know. I know, I heard you, but I don't know what it is.

Student: You don't know what it is?

M. Laitman: No, what do you think, it's a joke?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (18:30) Can we take a step back in order to go ahead?

M. Laitman: Please.

Student: We talked about the shattering of Adam HaRishon that was divided into 600,000 souls. He wanted to give contentment, he had a mistake in his calculation with the wrong deficiency, whatever happened, happened, and he didn't turn to the Creator for help. He was separated between the state that was there before. We have that allegory of the king who wants to pass the treasure so he gives it to everyone. When we gather from Bnei Baruch, each one carries that small part of the treasure, and if we close off towards one another, it is as if it resembles the deficiency. But the Creator says, I need your help. I made a mistake. I wasn't responsible enough. He didn't do it. I don't remember which letter it was, I think the second one, and the friend asked on the AHP of the upper one and all that.

And it's about the happiness and good deeds between us in the work that he was saying about the scent if I remember correctly, that the scent is also reflected light, and the happiness of the reflected light towards the friends is what gives back to them, to the place between them, to their attitude towards the studies, and to make sure not to steal from them. Even though he performs actions, he still thinks of himself. If we now, in the time we have preparing for the convention, we'll search very good in our deeds, how we, we always say to see the Ten is important, or the place between them, that they let me study with them. Will it be such an attitude as if to gather those little bits that the Creator has scattered so we won't steal?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Okay, sorry for the, all the words.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (22:00) We want to reach that there's a difference between Adam HaRishon and our purpose, so which innovation do we want to come to?

M. Laitman: We need to discover what separates us from the perfect state. All the other states, I don't mind them. They'll become clarified along the way, but between us and the perfect state, the perfect state is when we're all connected between us in mutual bestowal, unlimited, unbounded, mutual bestowal upon each other, all of us like that. And out of this to the Creator. From this to the Creator. This is the form that we should see as the end of correction, as our goal. That's it. Is that clear?

Student: But I heard that we want to discover what separates us.

M. Laitman: It's in order to correct. So along the way, we also need to tend to all the shatterings, all the broken vessels.

Student: It's not the Creator that separates us?

M. Laitman: If we don't pray and don't ask, our way will be very hard. Because then the Creator will have to give us such blows and such difficult states that will make us want to get out of them. So, that's it.

Student: We're so lucky to be sitting with you.

Question (Women PT 6): (24:35) If what we need is only prayer, what can the convention add to that?

M. Laitman: A prayer during the congress and after the congress, so we can during the congress and after the congress, we'll be able to pray in such a way that the Creator will not be able to leave us without correction.

Student: So the convention, a lot of friends are coming from around the world with very strong desires. How do we synchronize everyone's prayer together into one?

M. Laitman: That's not our problem. We need, each one, to really pray from the bottom of his heart. If we all pray from the bottom of our hearts, our common heart, we will attain everything.

Student: To pray from what? From the bottom of the heart?

M. Laitman: For connection between us and with the Creator. That's it. We don't need anything. This formula is a relatively easy one. Anyone can imagine it, can depict it, and each time more, and more, and more, until it becomes completely clarified.

Student: So the focus is on the connection between us, but we learned in the past that prayer has to include the whole world and us on the end.

M. Laitman: Okay, yes, of course. It should be, we should arrange all of that every time in the prayer, right? Okay, good. So, for today, we're done.
