Excerpts from the sources: “Work with Faith Above Reason”. #47
Reader: Hello, friends, in the first part of the lesson, we will learn from a lesson from September 24, 2020, on the topic of Working with Faith Above Reason. Note that this lesson contains many workshops. We'll give three minutes for each workshop. Now let's move on to the lesson.

M. Laitman: (01:34) No translation The first part of the lesson is called, The Will to Receive that Created, and to what extent it is more and more prominent in our lives. And although we already hear and understand a little that we need to rise above it, we need to connect above it.
We see how the Creator raises the level of distance between us – not just between us but all over the whole world – we are talking about the dimensions or the scale of the whole of mankind and it’s happening from day-to-day increasingly; and this is a process where we’re coming towards the last generation. That’s what we’re intended for, that’s where we must make the connection between us. We’re being invited to make that connection between us, and from that connection we want to make contact, to create an introduction between all of humanity and the upper force. So, every day, the Creator gives us new conditions, new states, each time a little bit worse than yesterday. Just like when we were kids, we are given, each time, some challenges to overcome, and thus grow – that's how we have to see ourselves. Don't be discouraged but, rather, understand that we're already people who have experience in life. Most of us have children or even grandchildren, and we understand that, in this way, we only need to grow. And so, saying thank you to the Creator for the obstacles that He sets up for us every day – see His treatment in that and try to connect above the disturbances. If we can connect above the disturbances, then see why this is so, why did we succeed? Because, truthfully, the disturbances are given by the Creator so that we see that we're not capable and then we ask Him to be our partner. That we are like a little child who wants something – let's say he doesn't come to some high place so he drags the adult to show him what he wants which is up high. And then the adult who is tall brings him what he wants.
Similarly, we have to identify in each and every state in our connection, in our life, that we, wherever we don't succeed, that it's actually success to feel that we don't succeed. Because that's the place where we ask of the Creator to help us be in contact and that the connection will be so successful between us, so the Creator can also be revealed through our connection. That's how we should try to see—it's what we should try to see in everything in life – and so, if we approach each and every moment in our lives in such a way, then we will see that the Creator specifically gives us such opportunities. We just weren't so, perhaps, attentive to them before, focused on them. Now, when we recognize that in every moment in life, the Creator gives us an opportunity to connect between us. And see that this connection is not that successful and we ask of Him to connect us. And to reveal the connection so much so that we can invite Him to dress into our connection, and thus we'll advance. Then, when the Creator dresses into us as a force of bestowal on top of our force of reception, that will be called the revelation of faith above reason and that's what we're expecting.
Let's have a small workshop about how should we, in each and every moment in life, try to envision such a state for ourselves, where we try to connect and we can't and we turn to the Creator to help us to make the right connection between us. And the connection will be successful if we feel that without Him we cannot do that; and with Him we do arrive at that connection and it's a connection of mutual bestowal on top of each and every one's reception. That's called, force of bestowal above force of reception, faith above reason. And thus we expect that in this correct connection between us where we have the level of Bina, where we connect through mutual bestowal on top of the level of Malchut, on top of our egos. Then we're building the actual place where the Creator can be revealed in us, and rejoice and that's our goal. Now, let's discuss this in a short workshop, go ahead.
Workshop: (07:35) Why does specifically the lack of success from our own forces bring us to great joy, to turning to the Creator and to true success?
M. Laitman: (10:27) How can we be happy about being unsuccessful, that we don't succeed? We're unsuccessful in connection, in progress, in connection between us; we don't feel successful in anything. And how, at the same time, we are delighted with it, we are filled with joy because it's the place where we turn to the Creator. How the lack of success brings us to great joy, to turning to the Creator, and to real success. Please, speak.
Workshop: (11:18) Why does specifically the lack of success from our own forces bring us to great joy, to turning to the Creator and to true success?
M. Laitman: (14:16) How do we approach a spiritual action which is only connection in such a way that it is certain that, in the end, we will demand the Creator to make the connection on every detail? Because otherwise, our connection will not succeed, it will be incorrect because only through help from above, from the Creator, we can connect two contradictory things, two desires to receive. How can we connect them? Only when the Creator is between us giving us the power of connection, the restriction, the screen, reflected light—all those things. We always need, always, to ask that He will be between us, that He will connect us, that He will dwell among us, that He will control us. We just need to help each other, all of us together, to keep us all directed toward Him and expecting Him to make the connections. How do we hold each other so that we all turn to the upper force in which we all hang our hopes? How do we help each other in this? What is called mutual responsibility, how do we realize it? Please.
Workshop: (15:51) How will we hold each other, so that we turn to the upper force in which we place all our hope?
M. Laitman: (18:56) How do I reveal the Creator both in lack of success in the worst states just like in the best states? As it says, Even if I walk in the valley of darkness, I shall see no evil for You are with me. How does it happen that on the one hand, I'm in the darkest, most horrible, fearful, helpless state with lack of success and lack of hope and yet I feel that it's coming from a Creator and He's leading me forward? Please. How could it be these two so very opposite feelings together; Even as I walk in the valley of death, etc., I shall see no evil, for You are with me. Meaning, I feel You with me in that. Please.
Workshop: (19:54) How does it happen that I’m in frightening darkness, in lack of success and lack of hope, and yet I feel that it comes from the Creator and that He is leading me forward?
Question (Focus Group): (23:11) It's exactly like our great friend said, that ultimately it doesn't matter what's the situation, what we feel, as long as we know, in our feeling, that it comes from the same upper force. And we're close to it and we rise above the bumps that we have in the ups and downs.
M. Laitman: Can we be in a feeling of the shadow of death – of death, helplessness, hopelessness – and at the same time, feeling that it came from the Creator and, specifically in that, we are connected with Him in such dark feelings and states? How do we find Him there?
Student: Specifically, during a time of trouble, a person remembers more, he's reminded. So it's already help when you receive the blow, you also are reminded of where it comes from.
M. Laitman: Okay, last question, tell me: Now that the world is declining more and more each day, how can we be incorporated in that decline and that fear and that helplessness that people feel in the world – e really don't know why and what for, where it's coming from, what will happen tomorrow. They're losing their minds, they are already prepared for all kinds of states and actions. We see, they don't know what to do, how to guard themselves, how to keep themselves from blowing up and losing control. And it's not the end of the road, we see that; who knows how long it will—when it will come. How should we behave among ourselves and with the world? How should we, through our prayer, see the world, in what state? How do we want to see the world in a better state, on top of the intensifying trouble? Please.
Workshop: (26:00) How will we see the world in a better state, specifically on top of all the intensifying troubles?
M. Laitman: (28:49) What difference is there between waking up from sleep and a state where I come into the lesson? What are these states that we go through – from one to the other – before the lesson from a state of getting up, waking up, to a state of waking up corporeally, to a state that I awaken spiritually and I come into the lesson? Let's talk. Each one will give his impression but concisely.
Workshop: (29:38) What are the states I go through between the moment of physical awakening after sleep, and the state where I awaken spiritually and enter the lesson?
M. Laitman: (32:40) What influences me more: When I hear the friends or when I read the sources or hear the sources? So hearing the friends or hearing the sources, what influences me more?
Workshop: (32:55) What influence me more, when I hear the friends or when I hear the sources?
M. Laitman: (33:12) What awakens me more out of sleep towards the lesson that puts me in a state where I'm ready to enter the lesson? What awakens me more, what directs me, what resets me?
Workshop: (33:35) What influences, directs and stabilizes me toward the lesson more: hearing the friends or hearing excerpts from the sources?
M. Laitman: (36:34) The more we advance, we see that I'm actually more and more impressed by the friends. As written, I received from my teachers, and more so from my friends, and more so from my students. Meaning from everyone but from those closest to me, I'm most inspired. Yes, well, what else do we lack to enter the lesson? Still, how can we, today, define perhaps, give a definition for what is faith above reason? That's the spiritual vessel. Please, last question for this workshop: What is faith above reason being our spiritual vessel?
Workshop: (37:44) How will we define in our current state what is “faith above reason”?
M. Laitman: (40:38) Let's, now, put together a prayer. As we think, without talking about it, let's put together a prayer within the Tens that we are praying for humanity, that it will understand what is the purpose of all those states we're all going through. That we are like the Rosh, like the head, toward humanity, which is the Guf, the body, that they will be incorporated a little bit with the purpose of these changes, the purpose of creation, where we are coming to, why we feel that we are declining, what is happening to us. We want humanity to look at these things in a more mature way with the purpose of creation, that it will receive from us a little bit. How do we want to turn to humanity – not in words – but what would we like to convey to them, to pass on to them? Please. Each Ten puts together such a message to humanity, please.
Workshop: (42:19) How will we turn to the broad public, so that they accept reality in a more purposeful way?
M. Laitman: (45:19) How can we imagine a state where we connect to the Creator and all that He has, all that is in Him, we pass on to all of humanity just like a pipeline, a conduit? We only connect the Creator to humanity so what's in Him enters humanity; that's the only thing we wish to assist. We are without a mind, without a feeling, without attainment, without understanding, without nothing. Just being the passageway like a conduit. Let's think, are we ready for that, capable of that, and pray for that to happen? All in order to bestow to humanity and the Creator, to both and for us, nothing. Let's imagine that state for ourselves. Please.
Workshop: (46:49) How can we serve as a conduit between the Creator and humanity, without thought of personal success, but only with the intention to bestow to the Creator and humanity?
M. Laitman: (49:40) How will we feel it every day as we hear from day to day that the world's state deteriorates and becomes more dangerous, how much suffering increases? Should we wait, God forbid, for greater suffering? If we relate to the world with love, so how should we accept this tendency each and every day, which for now continues? Please.
Workshop: (50:32) Humanity is deteriorating and suffering is increasing. How can we accept and understand this trend that the suffering doesn’t end, despite the love that we flow to the world?
M. Laitman: (53:30) How, along with us feeling all the suffering of humanity and sharing their sorrow can we justify the Creator, Who, certainly is the cause of this state? How can we, as we walk in the valley of the shadow of death, to not see evil for you are with me. How can we justify the Creator in all the worst possible states that come down to humanity? Please.
Workshop: (54:08) How do we justify the Creator when we see the state of the world, and reach “though I walk the valley of the shadow death, I fear no evil for You are with me?”
M. Laitman: (57:09) How do we, by understanding and somehow feel, that the purpose of creation is to do good to His creation, of course it's all for the best. How do we, at the same time, do not let ourselves calm down because we know that everything is for our benefit. But rather we incorporate with all of humanity, and precisely because they don't feel, and we do feel, it will make it hurt us, it will be more hurtful for us. Give us more of a deficiency to pass on to them the familiarity with the Creator. Because this is the cure for all the blows. How do we not let ourselves relax because we know and understand the process we're going through, so it doesn't calm us down, pacify us. But we would rather incorporate with the suffering of all humanity that doesn't understand it and suffers, and we will incorporate even more. And moreover, we will incorporate with the suffering of the Creator who wants to heal them. But He cannot without us because He set us as the conduit. And when we are incorporated with the deficiency of humanity and the deficiency of the Creator together; by this, we build from this a conduit. Please.
Question (PT 27): (59:21) What does it mean to be a conduit? How does a Ten enter a state of being a conduit and pass on to humanity all the light?
M. Laitman: This is what we just talked about, that we incorporate ourselves with the deficiency of the Creator and the deficiency of humanity. And we want to provide fillings for both deficiencies together, and then we become like a conduit. Because we don't exist except we have the ability to incorporate with both, to connect these two pipelines, so to speak. The one which come from humanity and the one that comes from the Creator, and we in the middle, make that connection. And through that connection, what there is in humanity passes on to the Creator, and what there is in the Creator passes on to humanity. And we have nothing more but deficiencies from humanity that we have to receive and correct – receive them and envelop them with our reflected light, with our faith above reason – we receive from them the deficiencies and envelop them with our envelope that's suited for the Creator. And in this way, we connect to the Creator. Afterwards, we receive from the Creator the filling for humanity, we receive it in that same deficiency that we pass on to Him, and that way pass it on to humanity. And we are right in the middle, we try not to have anything from this or from that, we're only incorporated from this and from that, and by this, we build ourselves. Now, of course, we have all the Hissaron, the whole Kli of the world. And the filling that the Creator gives us, all the deficiencies, we have that, and all the corrections. We have, we relate to it, even though everything is in us, we relate to it as to our task. Not for ourselves, by this, we are aiming ourselves only toward our task, and this is what we have to do.
Student: How can we include ourselves in the deficiency of the Creator?
M. Laitman: We have to try in all the states He takes us through, personally, see how much He wants us to grow and be as His face, as His presentation to humanity. This is called, May the name of the Lord be upon you, when we convey to all of humanity the form of the Creator. All of His relation, the example, who He is, what He is, everything. The Creator's relation to all the created beings, we have to receive it from Him and pass it on to humanity. The Creator, Himself, meaning the upper light, can't clothe in all the created beings unless we receive Him with our Ohr Hozer, our reflected light, with our faith; and that way we can pass Him to them.
Question (PT 27): (01:03:07) We spoke in the workshop about rising above the disturbances, rising above reason. And almost in the same breath, we talked about humanity and how to bring them the solution. Can you explain the connection between those states: Our work, and humanity?
M. Laitman: We have to work both with humanity and with the Creator, and also between us. Between all of these, you have to work, not even one after the other, you try for it to flow in all the different directions and all the discernments. Like in our body, when all the systems work together. Along with that, there are actions that carry out one after the other; or one as a result of the other. So, to communicate between ourselves in a way that will work, this comes from above, we only have to try. Today's the first time we're talking, basically, about – if we can say so – about our connection with the Creator and the created beings. That we need to practically try to be more connected to both; that we don't have a reason to connect to the Creator without bringing Him a Kli from the world. Because the Creator, look what He does, look how He awakens the entire humanity in a way that all of us, we all feel that something is happening. And here, there's danger that we may be proud, that we certainly understand why and what for, and the Creator has a good intention always, and ultimately, it will all go in a good way, so I'll wait and see what's going to happen. God forbid, this can be a very big obstacle, where we may suffer as a result of the Creator not performing this whole process through us. So, we have to be ready for it already; time will do its work on the way, we'll learn all the rest, that's it.
Question (USA Northeast): (01:05:57) How much does taking part in dissemination and group work influence the building of the prayer to the Creator?
M. Laitman: Dissemination has to give us all the discernments, in what way do we address the deficiencies of the public to the Creator? We have nothing in between, except for passing on these deficiencies, to connect the deficiencies of the world to the Creator. But to connect means to wrap them in the right way, in our Ohr Hozer, our reflected light, this is the meaning of being the conduit. It's not just being a connector, it's when we process the Hissaron of the created beings with the Creator's Hissaron. We adapt these two deficiencies together. One is a deficiency to receive, the other is a deficiency to bestow, and how we, in between, make this adapter, a passageway from the desire to bestow from the Creator. There will be a connection to the will to receive of the created beings. They're distant, they're opposite from one end to the other, and we, as the force of Bina that only wants to be in the soul, we can relate to Keter and relate to Malchut. That's how we work, we have to learn this work – it's called the work of Israel.
Question (New York 4): (01:07:55) In our corporeal life, we can anticipate night. Every day, the night comes like clockwork. The question is, in our spiritual life, can we anticipate night, or must it come unexpectedly each time?
M. Laitman: I never expect darkness, what for? I'm preparing myself that from all the different states I'll reveal the Creator in order to give contentment to Him. So, when I'm in darkness, I don't think He enjoys that. This only can be a preparation to do the work, but it's not a desirable state.
Student: If He enjoys the work in Achoraim, so then I do also; and also, if I want to achieve love, I need to achieve hate. So, I'm always ready for the darkness.
M. Laitman: No, no, no, this is wrong, I always yearn for the good, not for darkness, nor to hatred. Rather, in my attempt to achieve good, to attain good, I reveal bad; and I understand that revealing this bad helps me to reveal the good, the light. But we never yearn for darkness or bad. It's against the cause of creation, the purpose of creation, this makes me the opposite of the Creator. But when it appears, I understand it's necessary for my state as a created being to feel the opposite – the oppositeness – and this oppositeness will later lead me to scrutiny.
Student: The question more accurately is, we're always moving with two legs, I know that the left side is going to come. The question is, does it come like in the corporeal world, in a certain time?
M. Laitman: No, I don't intend to that at all. In each and every degree, I aim myself to give the most contentment to the Creator, and this only happens if I yearn for his revelation to be revealed as much as possible to the created beings. If I take that upon myself and I think about it personally, I may have all these calculations; but if I think, how can I reveal the Creator to everyone, there's no question about it. Just to reveal more and more and He'll know how to be revealed. I have to carry out my role to try to reveal Him, to show Him to all the creative beings. Darkness is something I never attract myself to in any way. Later, we'll see how we awaken the left on purpose in all kinds of degrees. This is where you as a musician, you understand that there's major and minor, and there has to be some connection between them, but that comes later. That's in order to awaken and to advance times. We'll see that, but not yet, it's not the time.
