Part 1:

Rabash. Article No. 32, 1991. What Are Banners in the Work?

Reading Article: (00:37) “Midrash Rabbah says about the verse, ‘Each man by his own…’”

1. S. (35:16) I have a question from the article he writes about the matter of nourishment and the sustenance he makes here so that will make it without any reward. How is it possible to do something that maybe you will make a miracle of this for us, to be able to work without any reward since this is above reason? Nevertheless, we have no reason to tell you in what way you will nourish us. About this verse, we have another question.  We said in the last few days that the prayer needs to be discerned, and scrutinized to know exactly what to ask, and only such a prayer the Creator answers. Here he's saying he's in a state that he nullifies his reason, his opinion altogether. He says we have no reason to even tell you in what way you will nourish us. It sounds the opposite?

R. Okay, we hear you.

2. S. (36:27) He writes that when a person wants to work in order to bestow without any reward, then the body asks where will we receive from the work In order to get the answer should be that we're going above reason. Where does a person even have the vitality to work above reason?

R. Okay, I don't know more.

3. S. (36:59) He writes in the article that we need to go above reason and also that a person doesn't have those powers or forces to do so. We need to ask for these forces, now in states of descent when we are trying to work above reason. The friends are doing many efforts, and then I say these things as if I'm looking at it from the side. The Creator intensifies the pleasure a little bit and you fall to some state of descent, distancing you fall from above reason and you feel this lack. Eventually, you understand that he's doing this to you. The question is when I feel that there's a lot of time being wasted between the state that you're falling and it's hard to connect it to the Creator, to feel anger or frustration that each time you're falling to the desire to receive. The request will come to turn to Him. First for us to give him the force that he's doing this to us. How do you overcome this? How do you work with this?

R. Okay, we hear you.

4. S. (38:25) There's a state he writes, and the people of Israel were created in order to do for the sake of the Creator. Therefore, the desire that they wanted to do for the sake of the Creator and couldn't, that desire will awaken love above and the Creator gave them the force to do Lishma. This is in that state that they want to do against nature, and they discovered that they can't. He describes it as the Creator helping them. It sounds like it's closer not in the request and that the Creator helps but it's enough that you want to do for the sake of the Creator. You discover that you can’t, that's already kind of like a prayer, like a request, so just to me it sounds closer.

R. Yes, yes fine.

5. S. (39:35) There's also something very interesting in the Shmita with the remission that you have the six years towards preparation. Then to expect and await this thing that's called, that you can work without a reward. Then the seventh year you merit it and it's a miracle. It means that the main work is the preparation and interesting.

R. What is interesting, that they're expecting a miracle or?

S. Every moment is actually the expectation to work without reward and the desire resist us. There are many degrees of resistance until in the the seventh he receives it. Why do we need so much preparation in order to merit something that we're supposed to live in all the time actually.

R. You have to accumulate forces in order to receive that seventh state in your vessels.

S. I didn't understand. Well, I don't understand, the order of the process is clear, but why this relationship of so much work and preparation?

R. All the work is in preparation.

S. It's like 1/7 is the reward for this.

R. No you shouldn't say it like this.

S. That's what it turns out to be, no?

R. It's not that you work for six years and on the seventh you'll receive it for free. It doesn't mean that you receive it for free. You work for six years.

S. Every moment of these six years is for that seventh?

R. Yes, and?

S. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying it's interesting that it's like that. That most of the time is preparation or maybe that's just how I'm grasping it.

R. No, all of these six years when one works in order to nourish the Creator on the seventh year it is all a result of the work in the six years. How shall I put it? This is what he wants because on the seventh year what happens to him is that he seemingly gives the Creator what the Creator gave him. You see this is actually the seventh.

S. Meaning for six years he studies from the Creator how to work on the seventh?

R. How on the seventh to give back to him.

6. S. (43:06) What does it actually mean to skip from one verse to another in our work?

R. You skip from one verse to another means that we look at only what is written before me right now. That's what I look at. Let's say, what is written before me in the verse and that's it. Besides that, I don't want to know anything.

S. What's written in the book I need to aim it in my work before the friends too. All together here, the whole environment that we're in, to one another to aim it in order to bring contentment to the Creator?

R. Yes.

S. I feel from this article how we constantly need to awaken this thing, to evoke the force of bestowal and love between us in order to bring Him contentment. Because this one moment that we sleep a little bit and rest in the work, in this common thing, we're actually lowering the contentment of the Upper one, we're actually also losing the connection between us. I’m saying it's a great privilege to be in such a special environment where we're constantly receiving the forces from one another and constantly raising it to Kedusha and bringing contentment to the Upper One. So, I'm saying this in gratitude and also it's this endless gratitude.

R. It's a miracle. It is a miracle.

7. S. (44:51) When a person comes to a state in which he expects a miracle as the reward of his work he starts to understand that also the previous reward that he received was also a miracle.

R. Yes.

8. S. (45:21) He writes about skipping, skipping from Lo Lishma directly to Lishma he writes we need to be to the liking of the Creator for him to and then to emphasize that we can't know how to do this, and it doesn't depend on the person only on the Creator. You once said that one of the elders said that you have to be favored by the Creator and everything will be revealed.

R. So?

S. How do we find ourselves in favor of the Creator?

R. I don't know. I haven't reached that yet. I don't think that I deserve it but actually, I haven't reached that yet.

9. S. (46:11) You once told us that Rabash told your daughter to leave this little rag doll there's a baby there will take care of it. It's felt this way also that Lo Lishma, Lishma is like letting go of ragdoll and taking care of an actual baby.

R. We want the ragdoll. The baby, well with the baby a little girl feels more taste in the doll than in the small living child.

S. From this allegory what are the six days of work that we work in and labor that we exerted in to give us the push to want the ability?

R. We correct ourselves. These are the six degrees before the Shabbat.

S. What does that mean you put forth your effort, to make the exertion, they're all in Lo Lishma because otherwise, you'd be caring for a baby already?

R. Yes.

S. What's there that the Creator favors you?

R. It’s the labor, the effort, that's what we have there. Then I receive a reward, let's say.

S. The labor is something that awakens within the one who labors for him to want to have a change?

R. Yes, it is something that is tremendous, above nature.

10. S. (47:54) The will to receive is seeking security things that give him confidence and security. In this article, there's a feeling like the above reason is to give up all that security that whole to put all your confidence in the Creator and the greatness of the Creator. When does the person have the strength to make that absolute concession for all the things that he's constantly looking for and put the confidence only in the Creator?

R. He reaches a decision that if you will work for his own confidence, then he's not working in order to bestow. Only on the condition that he's going towards the Creator, and he uses his forces of bestowal then on this condition he gives contentment to the Creator, and he has no chance to perform these actions in any other way.

S. How does a person overcome the fear from that step? Because it seems like a step that he gives up everything he knows, he's used to.

R. Nothing is left for him. He works for six years, and the seventh year comes so nothing else remains for him to do but only to be willing to do it for free.

11. S. (49:57) Rabash gives this the title, it's like what are the banners in the work, it's actually the heading of everything we read now. He writes that due to the love of the Creator he loves us, therefore he gives us these banners, meaning these are moves that a person engages in their Lo Lishma. The Creator gives them the force to skip the degree of Lo Lishma and to come to the degree of Lishma. Someone says here that he gives them the forces to skip the Lo Lishma and we're sitting here for many years in Lo Lishma and he's saying that we can skip a degree. What’s hiding behind us?

R. You're able to skip from where you're right now from Lo Lishma to Lishma.

S. I can’t skip it. I can be twenty years in Lo Lishma, even more.

R. Fine.

S. What does it mean to skip he's giving us the force to skip?

R. As much as you need to be more in Lo Lishma, he gives you the possibility to already skip from that state that you're in in Lo Lishma to Lishma.

S. How can we explain that we learned this yesterday? It says the Creator advances us drop by drop without skipping any states. It considers that the Creator doesn't give us Lishma and immediately goes from Lo Lishma. On the other hand, here he's saying that you can skip over the state of Lo Lishma

R. Bit by bit means according to nature and skipping means according to the miracle.

S. To ask to skip is a miracle?

R. Yes.

S. How to come to this miracle?

R. Through the Upper force, through the Upper light that influences a person, and that person shifts from the state that he's in right now where he's incapable of doing anything truly in order to bestow, and he is suddenly able to receive forces and carry out in order to bestow.

S. Yes, but that's work when you have to do labor to get there, you have to exert it's not suddenly you get a skipping over without any reason, right?

R. Well the whole reason your whole life you exerted.

S. That's it, so you have to exert to get to that?

R. Of course, nothing comes truly completely for free.

12. S. (52:44) I didn't understand the seventh year a person doesn't work? He just doesn’t receive a reward, or does he work?

R. In the seventh year, he doesn't work but rather he receives a reward.

S. What is it to not work if we say that the work is in connection, how not to work in connection?

R. No, no we're talking about corporeal work. If you're talking about spiritual work, then in the seventh year a person receives the result of whatever you invested. Let's say, in the six years beforehand, now he received the result, the reward.

S. I understood that there is no reward here but the seventh is actually working without the reward and that's the remission, the Shmita, that you're working without reward.

R. No, but what you receive is called the reward.

S. Before that, what is the six years?

R. Well, in the six years you were working and each time that you work you invested in your work and in giving part to the Creator.

S. That is to receive a reward, six years is with reward?

R. Yes.

S. Six years of preparation then reward?

R. Yes. There are all kinds of rewards. We're talking about working in this world where there are all kinds of conditions and limitations there. There is a lot to it. Okay?

13. S. (54:38) Does the article say that in a state of descent, a person doesn't have the ability to bestow?

R. That in a state of descent, a person cannot bestow?

S. Yes.

R. Well it's possible that that's how the Creator wants, for a person to feel how helpless he is.

S. There's no chance to bestow?

R. In the state of a descent, it depends on what form of descent but if the Creator does not give us forces then a person cannot do anything.

14. S. (55:22) About the skipping from Lo Lishma to Lishma, when a person is in Lo Lishma during the act does he know that he's in Lo Lishma or each time he feels that he is?

R. He knows because he's trying to perform the actions of Lishma.

S. This means that during the action itself, he already knows he’s in Lo Lishma or does he believe he’s in Lishma and in retrospect he discovers it?

R. No, no he doesn't discover it inevitably but he's just trying to perform acts of bestowal and acts of connection. This is how he progresses until he comes to a state in which he has nothing else he can do. He doesn't feel that he has additional forces.

S. Up to a state where seemingly he believes in miracles that the Creator will eventually help him. He truly believes that the Creator will help him, and these are the miracles in the end. The miracle is that he understands that in the end and actually to skip from Lo Lishma to Lishma only the Creator can do it?

R. Yes, that’s correct.

15. S. (56:57) He says that on the sixth miracle appears when they saw these revealed to Malchut and nourished it. How does Malchut in relation to Yesod make it to this action? It says that she has only what her husband gives her, so by action, how does she make Yesod nourish her? Is it by asking to resemble it all the time more and more by acts of bestowal and by wanting it to grow all the time?

R. I didn't quite understand, repeat yourself.

S. In the article, it says that the sixth miracle appears which is that Yesod nourishes Malchut and it's not that Malchut through the work in tilling the soil that she nourishes herself, but rather she receives the nourishment from the Yesod. My question is Malchut actions toward Yesod, which is now revealing her. It is written that she, the woman has only what her husband gives her, she has nothing of her own. So, this action where she asks for nourishment, is this an action where she asks to resemble Yesod more? An action of imitation, of resembling? Secondly, does she ask all the time that Yesod goes back to the root? Meaning, it will constantly grow in her eyes, and this is how she's nourished?

R. Yes.

16. S. (58:50) He writes that for the body all the answers you have to give it is that you're right but I'm going above reason.

R. Correct, because the body behaves according to nature, and according to nature he is always right.

S. What does this mean to answer the body that I'm going above reason?

R. Where you're going to resolve your problem with the forces that are above nature, forces of bestowal.

S. From where do you bring it? I mean the body always wants to have a result inside the desire.

R. You demand from the Creator, you don't have it.

S. If you don't have it, now in practice the body wants something from you, you seemingly say you're right but if the Creator will not give it to you, you will not be able to go above reason. What does it mean that I'm going above reason?

R. You appeal to the Creator and demand to have the forces above reason, the forces of bestowal.

S. What are the conditions that need to be in the lower one so that the Creator will give him this above reason?

R. That he really shows that he wants to bestow.

S. How is this manifested?

R. That he worked in it, that he labored in it.

S. Seemingly, you're always working in this direction.

R. Yes.

S. What does it mean that you're truly willing to already work above reason?

R. Because six years have passed and you received each time from above all kinds of forces and try to be in them, in order to bestow as much as possible.

S. Why do the six years prepare you to go above reason if, in the end, you do get a reward from them? You give effort and you receive a reward during the six years, so where is the preparation for above reason? Above reason is work without a reward.

R. My reward is that I received the force of bestowal.

S. Why do you get it as a preparation by the six years?

R. I demand to have the ability to bestow from all the six forces I am demanding to have the ability to bestow by them.

S. Isn't this considered a reward?

R. The fact that I want that is called the reward but the fact that I want to bestow to this, that is not considered that I am receiving.

S. Okay so the lower one has a way to obligate the Upper one to give him the above reason or it's not within his hands at all?

R. The lower one can obligate the Upper one so the Upper one will give the forces to work above reason, yes, that is already considered inside the system of nature.

S. How do you obligate him? That's what I don't understand if he says it's a miracle, it is a skipping that is done for you.

R. This is on behalf of love like a baby, the baby is like the head of the family that's because he has the forces to demand from the whole family for him to be cared for.

17. S. (01:02:51) He writes that the people of Israel crave to work for the sake of the Creator but we’re not able to. So, with their desire, they wanted to work for the sake of the Creator, but they couldn’t this desire evoked love above and gave them the strength to work Lishma. The question is to which desire do we have to reach that it evokes love above, so much so that the Creator gives you this skipping to Lishma?

R. The person wants to do bestowal above his forces that he's not capable, he’s demanding and requesting of the Creator to make it, so he is capable.

S. How did we evoke the will to bestow in the Ten?

R. By example.

S. What is an example of bestowal?

R. An example from himself.

S. What example is it to bestow?

R. Perform an act of bestowal to the friends and make sure that the others too will be impressed by it.

S. What example is there of the intention to bestow? Not the act, but the intention to bestow, is there such a thing?

R. Intention is connected to your request to your action.

S. Where does the person have forces to give an example of bestowal?

R. For that he does have forces. Envy, lust, and honor, we have forces for that.

18. S. (01:04:38) What does it mean that the lower ones correct Malchut?

R. In appealing to Malchut as they want to receive forces of bestowal, how should we say this, they push Malchut to being closer to ZA.

S. It turns out that Yesod when it bestows after the correction of the lower ones, it turns out that we need to constantly pray for the vessel, for Malchut. Maybe it's a prayer that we're asking to raise the intention, so what is it to pray for the Kli?

R. We want to have the desire to bestow through the group of friends to the Creator. The Creator is our goal and the friends together, all of us connect in order to bestow to Him.

S. From this common prayer of the Ten the abundance can expand, and he writes here then there is room for the blessing to expand, the blessing to Malchut. What is this blessing?

R. Blessing is usually called the reflected light, Ohr Hozer.

19. S. (01:06:36) It is known that on the seventh-year people who till the ground let the ground, the soil rest stand for the fact that the seven Sefirot from Hesed is Malchut who is the Assembly of Israel, who gathers all of the souls and because of the awakening from below that the person gives, a new cycle should begin. This is why there is rest?

R. Yes, yes, that's the source.

S. There is this cycle of every seven years and in the seventh year the person should nourish himself because in the seventh year, we don't till the ground, we simply have remission, we have rest?

R. Yes, but you saved in all the previous years.

S. This means that in the seventh year when we don't till the soil in order to make a living, it comes out of the savings of those six years.

R. Well, let's say.

S. Is there anything else?

R. We're not allowed to let go of the land; we’re not allowed to work the land.

S. The question is, what I said that on the seventh year which is actually the Sefira Malchut, here the cycle has to start again, there's a kind of cycle which is always seven years from Hesed to Malchut and back?

R. Yes, yes.

20. S. (01:08:20) How do we learn from the Creator the quality of love?

R. I don't know, I don’t know. The quality of love of the Creator, you can't quite learn because all our relations are built upon the will to receive, upon our ego, upon the fact that we are truly demanding from one another without it coming out of our mouth, and if we were to know how to truly relate to one another, what a relief we would have. It’s simply, we would be freed of all the shackles.

S. When we read the articles, we see that the Creator actually hides Himself all the time and He gives us flavor so that we want to be like Him. He is like an educator, a teacher.

R. He is doing double work, dual work. He conceals His giving and on the contrary, He reveals His actions on the opposite side.

S. The egoism that is revealed in us in relation to our reality, how does it teach us about Him, how do we?

R. I didn't understand.

S. In the article, he also says that all the time the person should perform all the Mitzvot with the intention to eventually reach the Creator's quality. This means that we are always in school, and we have to learn all the time. Which of these actions should we learn, we should also do the same?

R. If we want to resemble the Creator, we begin to perform acts of mutual bestowal towards one another, and this is how we come to adapt ourselves to the Creator.

S. He doesn't show it to us physically, He hides Himself. Should we hide ourselves toward each other? You keep saying an example, what kind of an example can we take from the Creator to say oh, He does that, we will also do that?

R. I don't know, I don't understand what you're asking. He does this way and then we do this way, what does that mean?

S. That we learn, when you learn you look at what somebody does, and you say I’ll do the same.

R. You cannot see the actions of the Creator in a revealed manner.

S. I see that He's hiding himself, what does it mean? What should we do on our side, what should we do in the Ten in order to be similar to the Creator?

R. Only mutual bestowal, mutual bestowal, mutual help, mutual coming closer until we start to discover in these ways His qualities.

21. S. (01:12:49) We learned now that we don't quite know how to learn from the Creator because He's the quality of bestowal and our nature is to receive and we demand from each other without even bringing it out from our mouth, but you said that if we would have known how to correct our attitude correctly what a relief it would be. The question is first of all, why are we unable to understand what the correct relations are and why is it built in this way? What do we learn in this process when we’re not able?

R. We will connect to the Creator and be dependent on Him, otherwise we won't be able to learn from Him.

S. On the other hand, you said we cannot learn from the actions of the Creator because it's a different nature so how then do we truly learn from the Creator?

R. We ask that He will give us that same strength, that same nature that He has.

S. Apparently, we need to learn how to ask because.

R. That's the main thing.

S. Here in this process of learning how to ask we need to ask, see that it doesn't work, and then change the request?

R. Okay.

22. S. (01:14:17) He says that Malchut when a miracle comes, she reaches bestowal and equalizes to the quality of Yesod, so that's why Yesod is righteous, and he bestows to her. What is actually happening there? Who is Yesod? Yesod is also foundation.

R. We don't talk about that, for the time being, we haven't learned.

23. S. (01:14:57) From a feeling maybe, sometimes I feel that the Creator is giving me the forces to skip over, the friends are great, the lessons are sweet, and I feel that I'm in the seventh year. I can work with no reward, He gave it to me and then He drops me down, no flavor, no taste, I cry, I pray, cry, and pray again, I skip up, I’m in the seventh year, the friends are great, I'm in Lishma. It's like skipping up, down, up, down. I'm like a horse, He's riding on me like a yo-yo, I tasted this.

R. Like a yo-yo?

S. It’s horrible.

R. It's our nature.

S. He gives me that feeling Lishma, the seventh year. I'm floating, I exerted, I prayed, I cried, He gave it.

R. He gave you?

S. Yes.

R. So learn from this.

S. Here's where I'm missing out on something.

R. I have nothing to say, learn from this.

S. What am I supposed to learn from this?

R. Learn how to be similar to the Creator.

S. I'm missing something here.

R. You're missing a lot.

S. If He already gave it to me, I want to stay there, that He won’t drop me down again.

R. I have nothing to say, learn from this what the Creator has given you.

24. S. (01:16:47) It’s written that Malchut is a law. What is this law of Malchut?

R. The will to receive that is directed from in order to receive to be in order to bestow. This is a matter of changing the intentions, first Malchut receives with the intention for herself and afterward, she performs the restriction and shifts herself to the intention to bestow.

25. S. (01:17:52) When you speak about us having to turn to the Creator constantly in order to get help, did He give us this quality or is it like a certain connection on our initiative when we have no forces? Does He give us the forces to turn to Him, or do we have to do it on our own?

R. Doesn't it bother you when there are two languages? Okay, let’s continue and we will see.

26. S. (01:18:52) About the transition from reason to above reason, we decide within reason that we’re going to above reason, right? It’s clear that in reason is one state and above it the other state, the transition itself is what worries me. How should I annul my own reason and let's say devote it to the group? What exactly disconnects for me?

R. He is taking us from Lo Lishma, not for her sake to Lishma, for her sake. That transition He does it.

S. I in some way need to put like brakes on myself so He, does it?

R. Yes.

27. S. (01:20:09) If the quality of Israel in a person is under the control of the nations, how can one advance to the Creator in freedom of choice?

R. Only through the friends, the person himself is powerless. Only through connection with the friends does he discover how he can take all the forces of the Ten and use them in the direction of the Creator.

28. S. (01:20:58) We pray together and do all kinds of activities and our purpose is to change man. From the Creator's point of view are all students as one man, and what’s the importance in being true with the friends in such a state?

R. From the respect of the Creator we're all one man but from our perspective, we're not. To adhere to the Creator, to connect with Him we also have to come to such a feeling, as one man with one heart. This is the answer.

29. S. (01:22:20) When does a person get the forces to work with no reward?

R. It depends on the Creator and not on a person. A person has to show everything, he has to perform acts that he really wants to work in order to bestow but when he actually gets it from above, it depends on the above. There are articles about it, there are all kinds of calculations, he does little or not and is rewarded and so on, there are many things in this regard.

30. S. (01:23:26) How can we maintain faith above reason?

R. Through the examples of the friends, we’re all holding each other and want to show an example to each other how much we’re working in connection above reason and in actions above reason. If we direct ourselves this way, we will see that it's not such a problem, really.

31. S. (01:24:19) I'm not sure I understood you correctly as the friend asked where to get the forces from in order to have the intention to bestow, and you answered that from envy.

R. Envy, lust, and honor, yes.

S. Isn't that what feeds my ego? It starts swelling up from this, if I do something so good, I become great.

R. Without the ego you wouldn’t be able to obtain the Creator.

S. It's not the intention to bestow, it turns out it's the intention to receive feeding my ego?

R. Yes, precisely because of this you can attain the Creator.

S. That's not something I need to conceal?

R. No, absolutely not. It doesn't diminish you; it doesn't degrade you or diminish you.

32. S. (01:25:42) How to reach the longing for those banners towards the Congress?

R. If we perform exercises every day, we will decide that we are doing exercises in groups in each and every group. Ten minutes each day and we will succeed.

33. S. (01:26:32) Ten minutes of what, what exercise for ten minutes every day?

R. What were we talking about?

S.  Many things, he was asking about the banners, and he asked towards the Congress how to get a desire for those banners. What exercise every day for ten minutes should the Ten do to come prepared to the Congress?

R. Connection every possible moment but in the morning, we do it for ten minutes straight without disconnecting.

S. What’s a connection for ten minutes without disconnecting?

R. That we're all connected and we’re drawing into our connection, we’re drawing the Creator, and we don't want anything other than to remain this way forever; that all the qualities of connection and all of our pleas to the Creator will be with His qualities.

S. Are you speaking about preparing for the lesson, when we enter the lesson?

R. Yes, yes at the beginning of the lesson.

34. S. (01:28:28) In the article it said that when they wanted to work for the sake of the Creator they couldn't, the desire awakened love above and the Creator gave them the forces to work Lishma. Do we always have to reach that point when we can't advance anymore and lose all our forces and almost despair for the Creator to be revealed and for us to work in Lishma?

R. Yes, we have to demand from the Creator the actual strength for Lishma.

35. S. (01:29:17) About demanding forces from the Creator and working Lishma, I also saw that Rabash stated that we're under the control of the nations and sometimes I feel where I know that I don't feel that I'm under their control, and I also see here, sorry for saying it, but I see that in the faces of my friends there is not a face of despair yet. I don't see their cries, Creator help me, I want to release myself from the will to receive, I feel the control of Ishmael, Esau, I feel it. The question is yesterday I heard our friend and I really felt that he is fighting, he’s really in a war so how to feel it every moment here in the lesson, that we’re really in demand from the Creator who will release me, I can’t keep going?

R. Pray to the Creator to give you such deficiencies that you too will ask in this way.

S. How can you be so calm?

R. I'm old, I’m too tired to get angry and yell, besides I've been through it many times.

S. Maybe there is a pill you can give me?

R. What can you do, there is none so wise as the experienced.

36. S. (01:31:55) What's the connection between the seven days and Egypt and coming out of Egypt?

R. We use all kinds of signs like this in order to mark, to indicate what states the children of Israel were in Egypt, in the exodus from Egypt, in the exile, in the redemption, we use these signs.

37. S. (01:32:42) I heard you say that if we learn to relate to one another, and release ourselves from our handcuffs, what do we have to do to change our relationship between us?

R. Open our hearts.

38. S. (01:32:58) What does it mean that limitation and concealment are taken off from a person?

R. I don't know, it's an emotional thing. Let's hope we will succeed and discover it and feel it.

39. S. (01:33:19) It says from your deeds we will know you; how do we see the deeds of the Creator if He’s concealed?

R. If we are ready then we will also see them through the actions that we experience.

40. S. (01:33:41) I heard that we can’t work from the thought that I’ll get a reward but what is a reward given for those seven years?

R. To go out free, to come out free. Free meaning from no cost, we come out of all the limitations.

41. S. (01:34:12) Are the six years of work actually six years?

R. No, no it has nothing to do with six years, you could say six Sefirot but it's not according to the corporeal, material time.

42. S. (01:34:42) How can a person shorten the time of Lo Lishma, how can the Ten help the friend in that?

R. As much as they manage a shorter time to achieve Lishma, there's no time here, there really is no time. We are getting closer to a state where those who prepare themselves for bestowal above reason will be rewarded.

43. S. (01:35:16) In working above reason, is above reason one of my states or is it a calculation?

R. Reason is a state in my policy, in my states or? Again.

S. In working above reason is reason one of my states or is that a calculation?

R. It’s both a calculation and a state.

44. S. (01:36:15) What causes a person to yearn and ask to be an Adam?

R. When he feels himself as a beast.

45. S. (01:36:34) You're saying to open your heart again, how do you open the heart?

R. I don't know, I don't know come on, the Creator does it. Ask.

46. S. (01:36:52) What’s more important in the prayer, sensitivity or the form of the prayer, that we're asking for the right thing in the right order?

R. Even without words, we turn to the Creator and He feels our hearts and what we have in our hearts.

S. During the lesson there's a lot of work to reach the right prayer, that we all together feel that we want to serve the Creator, to give Him contentment and if we receive a small desire in that direction, we're happy. Our friends, the soldiers, once we think about them there is big, great sensitivity and desire and everything together. What will give the Creator contentment, that we're together in the same sensitivity, to ask for something in the same motion or together to be concerned of something except for us, or to ask for something correct that the Creator will take care of us?

R. Did someone understand?

S. I think he's asking what is right to ask for someone outside of us or to ask for a change to happen in us?

S. Which is more valuable, which will give more contentment to the Creator, that we're all here asking that He’ll change us from the will to receive to the will to bestow or that we have great feeling on behalf of another, that we're all together in great emotion, that the Creator will protect and care for our friends that are in a field of battle, really the front of battle on the will to receive or do we sit here and say connect us to receive the light that reforms again and again until we feel something?

R. To be as close as possible to the Creator, all of us together.

S. That shows itself in the prayer how most effectively, because you're saying open our heart but here’s a stimuli that really magnifies our desires to care for the friend, that the friends will be cared for, or do we sit here and try to fit a square peg into a round hole?

R. I ask the Creator to open my heart. What for?

S. To ask, to ask for the friends, for the friends. If the Creator gives me a feeling on my own I can use it towards the friends and if the Creator gives me a feeling to be concerned of the friends so I don't even have to work. Is there a screen built into that desire that the Creator will care for our great friends?

R. Yes.

S. Why not go straight to the gold? The Creator wants from us a desire, a single desire.

R. Of course.

S. What's most important is that we have emotion together in the direction besides ourselves? All day to think of these great friends that show us an example because the emotions are right on the surface there, we have to put all of our hearts together right in this point? The tears are just right behind my eyelids for these friends, let them fall, let them fall.

R. Yes.

47. S. (01:42:07) About the jump from Lo Lishma to Lishma, he writes that the nation of Israel yearned and said when can we skip over the work from our own benefit and reach the work for the Creator's benefit and that yearning awakened love above. What is the right yearning to reach Lishma, that they want to skip over the work for themselves? What does that mean?

R. We want to be adhered to the Creator, that He bestows upon us, we bestow upon Him and in this action we are adhered to one another.

S. What prevents a person to make the efforts to go above reason from the concealment? What does it mean to yearn for this correctly, to Lishma and not to receive it as a reward, this adhesion in the Creator?

R. I don't quite understand the question.

S. What characterizes the work in Lo Lishma that is increasing, is that the ability of a person to agree with Lo Lishma or not to agree with it?

R. Yes.

S. What yes?

R. A person doesn't understand whatsoever what it is, what is Lishma.

S. Doesn't understand. In that Lo Lishma is he willing to accept the state more and more as he writes in Shamati, that the future depends on the gratitude of the past, that even if he has the preparation that's enough for him and that shows him the advancement of a person even though he’s moving back he's willing to agree even a little bit with what the Creator is giving. How does a demand for Lishma develop from this? Why should it develop, a demand for Lishma?

R. He can no longer remain in Lo Lishma, he feels that he is not acting, he's not helping, he's not assisting anyone, not to the created beings and not to the Creator.

S. That degree of Katnut, smallness that he tries to stabilize there, it’s an illusion, a lie, it’s fake, what?

R. Yes, yes, this is what he feels, that I’m better off dead than alive.

S. That he feels good about dying from my life. What does he actually want from this situation?

R. He wants to come to a state where he is compatible with the Creator.

S. He doesn't know where that state is exactly.

R. Even though he doesn't.

48. S. (01:45:24) Another small question: just to scrutinize this exercise, every morning ten minutes to sit connected, drawing the Creator into our connection. We don't want anything, just to stay like that forever. How do you see this, in the preparation? It sounds like something silent, ten minutes that we're just?

R. Yes, to sit for ten minutes and think how we can be connected in our hearts, in one heart, and to feel this one heart, that besides this we don't need anything besides where we are now. Where we feel ourselves, to feel the Creator there.
