Part 1 Rabash. Each One Shall Help His Friend

Hello, today we will learn from the writings of Rabash. In the article, Each One Shall Help His Friend. You can find the study material in the Arvut system and on the other sites. Anyone asking a question in the study hall should stand up, hold the microphone close to his mouth, and speak loudly and clearly.

Reading Article: (00:46) Each One Shall Help His Friend

We must understand how one can help his friend. Is this matter specifically when there are rich and poor, wise and fools, weak and strong? But when all are rich, smart, or strong, etc., how can one help another?

We see that there is one thing that is common to all—the mood. It is said, “A concern in one’s heart, let him speak of it with others.” This is because with regard to feeling high-spirited, neither wealth nor erudition can be of assistance.

Rather, it is one person who can help another by seeing that one’s friend is low. It is written, “One does not deliver oneself from imprisonment.” Rather, it is one’s friend who can lift his spirit.

This means that one’s friend raises him from his state into a state of liveliness. Then, one begins to re-acquire strength and confidence of life and wealth, and he begins as though his goal is now near him.

It turns out that each and every one must be attentive and think how he can help his friend raise his spirit, because in the matter of spirits, anyone can find a needy place in one’s friend that he can fill.

M. Laitman: Questions, please?

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (03:41) It turns out that you don't have to find a friend with a deficiency. But every friend constantly has a deficiency, you just have to find it and give him high spirits. Even if he is happy because it is a constant state. How do you do it, how do you search for this deficiency?

M. Laitman: That is our work, each will help his friend. You can find it in any state, in any situation. There is an opportunity for a person to add something to what he finds in his friend.

Student: What is it meant for? He has a deficiency, I make him happy, he is happy, he continues on the path. What should we obtain from it, what is the desired outcome?

M. Laitman: The desired result is that you bring him uplifted spirits – high spirits – and by that he becomes closer to the Creator and that is how he advances. And he also does this to others.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (05:08) It is said that high spirits is when his friend lifts him from the state he is in, to a mood of life, when he begins to obtain the confidence of life. What is the mood or spirit of life?

M. Laitman: The spirit of life is when he has joy from the feeling of reality; when he advances to the feeling of life, of connection with the Creator, connection with his friends. And that brings him gladness.

Student: Is the power of confidence that he obtains from being on the path, that he’s with the friends?

M. Laitman: I guess he acquires the force of confidence from that.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (06:23) It seems like helping one another is the exact opposite of our ego. We, automatically, try to hide where we need to get confidence, it is so difficult. It seems like we are completely opposite from it. There is such a difficulty between us.

M. Laitman: But if I am thinking about how I need to pass my confidence to the friends, then there is no problem in it. No one is interrupting me, no one is standing in my way.

A person has nothing else to do in life except think how to reinforce, to strengthen, himself in the Creator. Because of that, he begins to bestow to friends and to his entire group, in general, where he studies. This is called, each shall help his friend.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (08:13) When he talks about having a concern, let him speak of it with others. What is the concern and what does it mean to speak about it with others?

M. Laitman: When I share my concern about our spiritual state, from me to others; and this way to each and every one.

Student: Is this speaking with words in the heart, wanting for others will have it? What does it mean to speak of it with others?

M. Laitman: To pass, to deliver, maybe more correctly, it is to pass. Whatever is in a person's heart, he can pass it to his friends.

Student: In other words, if there's a concern for spirituality, you're forbidden to keep it to yourself. You have to immediately pass it on to the friends.

M. Laitman: That's clear.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): Is this concern a deficiency? Is it a deficiency for the goal? Because helping one another also to provide a deficiency for the friend if he has a positive deficiency, a fuel for the goal?

M. Laitman: Right.

Student: And when he speaks about how each one can help his friend, does he speak individually or generally? In other words, it seems from the article that in the end, in the matter of high spirits, there's always an addition. And we know that high spirits, or the mood, is the importance and greatness of the goal. So, the question is, should a person generally provide the importance and greatness of the goal and that's the cure for everything? Or on an individual level there are all kinds of particular and specific issues you need to deal with?

M. Laitman: It could be a thousand people together, it doesn't have to be specifically a Ten by the numbers. If we feel ourselves in contact, in connection between us and we have a certain worry about our connection. Then our work is to pass this concern to others that, when we begin to feel that there's no problem in it whatsoever. Rather, certainly just like we can support one another; by that we eliminate all the disturbances.

Student: The concern is, in general, for greatness and importance of the goal? Or should it also be specific because every friend has things he needs. Not talking about corporeal, physically or materially, but on the path.

M. Laitman: No, I don't think we need to get into details of each and every one, but where each will help his friend, in general, the general concern.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (11:52) What spirit do I have that I can give to the friend?

M. Laitman: The spirit of joy. When we walk on the path and everything opens up before us and to the extent that we come closer to one another, all of us together come closer to the Creator. Each will help his friend is not simply giving a good example to my friends, but that through that, I help them rise toward the Creator, to Him. And by that, we attain the goal.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (12:48) Is it about an actual feeling that I have or about acting out?

M. Laitman: No, this is a serious feeling in each and every one.

Student: If there is a concern in my heart, I pass it on to others. I set an example, I increase the joy. What do I do when I don't have that concern in my heart?

M. Laitman: You should awaken it? Try to think about how to awaken this concern about a friend's state, the state of the group. And ultimately to what will happen to you.

Student: When a person is in a state that he doesn't have the strength to awaken this concern within him, what does he give to others? Does he give anything?

M. Laitman: He delivers the deficiency to others.

Student: In any case, he always gives something to his Ten.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: And what do you do if you see that there's a friend who is not accepting our spirit, despite all the examples and the goodwill?

M. Laitman: Think of him; you can pass to him your desire, your spirit, your mood. You can awaken him.

Student: Should we judge a friend according to his mood?

M. Laitman: The concern in one's heart passes from one to the other, as it's written.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (14:46) This morning, we started talking about helping one another. And you used a word that each friend has to be ready to replace, to swap the friend in his task. You, also, said that you were throwing it in between the lines in the last few months. And in the summary of the lesson, we talked about it among ourselves, and we found that we don't really understand this task of swapping one another, exchanging places, replacing each other?

M. Laitman: This is simply an inner understanding of the rule of each shall help his friend.

Student: That's what I'm asking if you can explain a little more because we understood it, until today, that you have to give high spirits, and greatness, and confidence, and set an example, and by coming to the lesson, by continuing on the path. But there's something more internal here. How do I elevate the friend to adhesion with the Creator? Is there a different task that the friend faces that I have to worry about, besides this one?

M. Laitman: There's a more internal assignment. I have to care about my friend to be higher than I am; otherwise, I won't be able to rise to my own role.

Student: That's the zero and one, that Rabash writes about?

M. Laitman: You can say, yes.

Student: But what is the task? Does each friend have a different task in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Each friend possibly has a different task.

Student: How do I know what the task is of the friend that I may have to replace?

M. Laitman: We can't replace each other, completely, the fact that we're ready for it doesn't mean that we actually swap places with friends, or take their roles, and so on. We need to try and be in such a state of connection where, eventually, it won't matter to us who is working in place of whom, who is rising in place of whom. And our main yearning is that I'm willing to support everyone.

Student: Is it to work instead of the friend in the relation between him and the Creator?

M. Laitman: In the relation between him and the Ten.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (18:24) The concern in one's heart, let him speak of it with others. Can there be a situation where we are passing concern from one heart to the heart of the other? And then the friend might stay with the concern for the friend more than she's supposed to be concerned about her?

M. Laitman: This is a living thing. The important thing is that in this way we awaken all the friends.

Student: I'm assuming that I'm speaking in the name of all the Tens, we're reaching a level of closeness that I think we've never experienced in life. It's clear that we have a long way to advance but it means that if a friend of mine is in some sort of trouble or distress, and my concern immediately passes to her, we feel it even without words. But it seems like there's something more we can do past this action, after we lift the spirit in order to pass it on to the Creator. Is that possible?

M. Laitman: You need to feel inside your connection in the Ten, what else can you add? What else would you want to attain in the connection between you?

Student: I mean, can there be a situation where my friend is worried about me, then she remains with the worry all day? And maybe I've moved on already, and went up already, but she stays worried about me, can such a state happen?

M. Laitman: It could be, and it's a more correct worry because if someone doesn't realize his worry, then he doesn't move from it.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (20:29) Is it equivalent of form that we come into the connection of the Ten that let’s us truly feel what faith above reason is?

M. Laitman: We need to try and connect as one man in one heart, and by that, we'll begin to feel what else we lack in the connection. Do I get the same awakening from my friends such that it can raise the connection between us?

Student: The point is constantly as one man with one heart, right, each one.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (22:03) How should we work practically in order to lift the mood of the friends in the Ten? Especially in moments when each one feels a state of lowliness and doesn't see the goal before his eyes?

M. Laitman: This is truly a difficult job and the state you're describing is not simple.

To begin to elevate all the instances and all the incidents in the Ten, to raise them together, is not simple. We need to talk amongst ourselves since we are the group and each one depends on others and we cannot raise ourselves, let alone extract ourselves out of the pit we fell into. And so, this is how each help is friend. There's nothing special here, let's support one another, strengthen one another, just like I see before me so many groups all over the world. In this way, we can lift one another, and the Creator is, deliberately, doing all those states in us, for us. Occurrences and incidents that eventually through the connection between us, when we try to bring ourselves into it. Through this connection we will raise everyone. Each will help his friend means that each and every one of us is a cause of spiritual help to each and every one; and we're on the way to it!

Question (Petah Tikva 35): (25:27) It's written that the friends should give me a spirit of life. But if the friends I feel only recite words superficially that the Creator is great and it doesn't give me any high spirits, can I ask them to stop?

M. Laitman: That's not customary, here, but we need to try and help one another in such a way that each one will receive an ascent. Even the smallest ascent, it doesn't matter but something that he will feel how our external connections even help everyone.

Question (Turkiye 2): (26:39) How can the soul of the friend and I become one? How can I unite with the soul of my friend and really become one? How can I unite with the soul of the friend?

M. Laitman: I think this is something that has to come first. When I connect with a friend in the way that we feel ourselves belonging to one action, one place. And we have one goal, one purpose, I have to scrutinize this while he's thinking of me and I'm thinking of him and each one is thinking of the other.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (27:52) Another student asked you a question about concern between the friends, that she might be worried about a friend, a certain friend, and everything is fine with that friend already, and the friend who was worried still remains with the worry about that friend that she was concerned about. From what I heard, you said it's good that she remains with this concern and if she didn't stay with the concern, it means she didn't realize it all the way. What does that mean?

M. Laitman: I guess he doesn't know in what way he can receive his deficiency and realize it.

Student: When I'm worried about a friend, should I realize her deficiency?

M. Laitman: What does it mean, worry?

Student: What does it mean to realize her deficiency if I want her to feel a spirit of life? Shouldn't it be in her? What does it mean that I realize it? She feels a spirit of life already and I stayed with the worry that I think that she still hasn't realized it.

M. Laitman: You stay with the concern, and with your concern, you connect with her concern. And then together you seemingly rise from this state to a higher state.

Student: In other words, with my concern, I should feel some sort of a revelation of the Creator in that concern. So basically, we cause a love to spread between us, the Creator to spread between us in that concern? I need to constantly be concerned with that feeling?

M. Laitman: Please! You can awaken such a worry.

Question (Women Turkiye 7): (30:27) How can I emerge from my personal perspective and incorporate in the perspective of the friend so I can give her what she really wants, what she needs?

M. Laitman: I connect with her, I try to connect with a friend and build together, with her, a state where then, when we feel I am in her state. Then I begin to elevate myself and her together and this is how we rise from a lower state to a higher state.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (31:54) Question not translated.

M. Laitman: Justify, there are such things, of course. When you speak of your relation to the Creator and you want to justify His action, then you have to justify your friend where she is.

Student: When it's not my state it's easier for me to justify it and then it's easier for me to justify the state of the friend. Does it still mean that it's justified? How can I take this as something that's truly mine and justify it as the state that the friend is in?

M. Laitman: We're going to learn about it, but that's how it should be.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center):  Our spiritual ascent as a Ten, as a group, depends on each Shabbat friend, yes? And we can change states very quickly through mutual support and being sensitive to one another.

M. Laitman: Yes, that can be.

Question (Women Petah Tikva Center): (33:48) How can we awaken this concern inside of us so the friends will have the importance and greatness of the goal? How can we arrange ourselves in this way to constantly be in it?

M. Laitman: If I have a goal in front of me that I have to be adhered to with all the friends and together with them to be adhered to the Creator then I am facing a problem. What do I do, how do I improve my position? And here, comes the matter of the mood that he's trying to talk about in this article, Each One Shall Help His Friend. That the main thing is for us to provide one another, all of us together, with high spirits, that's the main thing. And then from where do I arise from a deep state or to a higher state? That's not important, already.

Let's read the next article.
