Part 2:
Baal HaSulam. Peace in the World (Good and Bad Are Evaluated by the Actions of the Individual toward Society)
Reading Good and Bad Are Evaluated by the Actions of the Individual toward Society. (00:35)
1. S. (06:12) In this mechanism, these parts, what exactly moves everything?
R. The Creator surely, is there anything else besides Him?
S. Yes, but inside these mechanisms usually, there's usually a main part that turns everything, turns everyone.
R. That's the Creator.
S. So our work with the Creator - how should we act? Do we have some certain effort of our own that we have to add or simply to just turn and not hinder anything?
R. We need to attain a state where we move about freely without disturbing, out of complete understanding of what the Creator wants to do with us and in full agreement with Him.
S. How can we resemble and turn to be congruent with Him?
R. At every given moment a person needs to understand that he is under the governance of the Creator. He wants to relate the way the Creator relates to him and he wants to become completely free with respect to the instructions of the Creator. Meaning the person wants to carry out the Creator’s instructions with all his mind and heart.
S. How can I discover and feel everything that He wants to do with me and not disturb Him?
R. Calm down.
S. How to do it correctly?
R. It means to completely agree with the Upper Providence.
S. But sometimes you want to do something, to bring yourself, to express yourself, to do something.
R. Your work boils down to being in complete equivalence with the Creator.
2. S. (08:44) What I saw in Israel in a corporeal way, the people of Israel aren’t one nation yet.
R. Of course. And?
S. I'm not speaking left or right but mentally.
R. That, too.
S. People from Russia, from Ukraine, they have this whole nature, it's not simple, their nature but people like the East or Spain, I feel them closer to me. Why is it like that?
R. They remained with the same character as they had when they lived in all kinds of countries in the exile and it’s difficult for them to connect right now. It’s difficult, you’re right.
S. You also are a Russian, you're not Israeli.
R. Of course, yes, sure. What to do then? There's nothing to do then, only the children or grandchildren will already grow to become one nation but in the meantime, no. This is called a collection of exiles.
3. S. (11:00) Baal HaSulam tells us about a perfect system and that there's a condition - he says under the condition that each one fills his part in wholeness and doesn't take his part away from others and so on. This condition also in the ten and society seems very difficult and each one has complaints about the others, that they don't fill their part. How do you reach this condition that each one in the ten and all together in society fill their place in wholeness and don’t take their place from others?
R. This is called love covers all crimes. That I have to love all the friends as they are even if I criticize them. But after that, above the criticism, I connect to them with love.
4. S. (12:20) If part of the public doesn't perform their role not only do they harm the public, they also harm themselves?
R. Of course.
S. I understand he harms the public but why is he harmed, in what?
R. He sees that the public is harmed?
S. Usually, no, he doesn't do it.
R. If he doesn't see it then there's nothing to say about him.
S. So he doesn't know he's causing damage?
R. No.
S. So why is it concealed from him?
R. That's already not a question for us, it's a question for the Creator who doesn't want to show him how harmful he is.
5. S. (13:22) We need to feel the independence of each one and raise a prayer together? In order for the cog wheels to work together we have to feel the dependency between us and together raise the prayer to the Creator? How to feel that dependency?
R. Think about them all the time.
6. S. (14:07) It's getting clearer and clearer how we're connected in the ten and in the society, how each one depends on the others and we’re all together. The question is, good and bad, towards what do we measure it?
R. Good and bad, we weigh them with respect to the unity of society; how much an action brings the society together or pushes it apart.
7. S. (14:44) How can we collectively demand the correction of society?
R. To connect and ask from the Creator, raise a prayer to the Creator, that's the most effective thing.
8. S. (15:17) If in society they’re teaching us the opposite, that the individual is higher and more important than the collective, the collective is only to serve the individual. How can we come from a society of the importance of the individual to a society of the importance of the collective as Baal HaSulam explains?
R. He explains to us that it's only through expansion of the group to be more and more and more.
9. S. (16:08) It’s similar to the friend's question: what should we do that one who harms the system will be aware that he’s under the control of the collective and not the individual because he harms the system and he's not aware. How can we help him become aware?
R. The group has to talk about it, the group has to discuss it.
10. S. (16:49) Are there things that we could have prevented like the war or it's all according to the plan of creation and was predetermined?
R. Everything was prearranged.
11. S. (17:07) It says that the right of the individual to exist is if the collective gives him all of his needs, so what exactly does he need?
R. The ten.
Reading the four attributes (17:25)
Reading practical difficulties in determining the truth (19:21) twice.
12. R. (21:44) Why is the public unable to accept upon itself the concept of truth?
Reading continues (21:56)
13. S. (25:22) What is the lie that has to be revealed so we can discover the truth?
R. It has to appear severely until the public understands it and wants to correct it.
14. S. (25:48) It's written in the article that they receive no more than what they deserve and don't take from society. What does that mean not to take from society?
R. Meaning that if a person is in society, to the extent that he works to that extent he can take from society and not more, that's obvious.
15. S. (26:43) In the spiritual work in the ten is that the individual or the collective? How to put the ten’s work between the individual and the collective?
R. The individual needs to see himself as belonging to the collective and the collective has to feel that it's comprised of individuals and then they have mutual guarantee.
S. You said earlier that everything was pre-organized but we also have a state of hastening the times. What's the relation between things that were predetermined and us being able to speed up the time, what is speeding up the time?
R. By our efforts, our labor we can hasten the time but that doesn't mean that we replace the times, we only speed it up according to our development like how we study in school. The child can be pushed to understand faster and learn faster and so forth.
S. Does it affect the results, too?
R. Yes, of course.
16. S. (28:33) According to what can we judge what truth or lie is?
R. According to the Creator, according to the Creator's goal we judge everything because our goal individually and any other goal, the final collective goal is to achieve adhesion with Him.
S. We have the instruments to know?
R. If we have a group, then in the group we try to build such a mechanism that shows us our relationship to the Creator.
17. S. (29:28) Is there a connection between these four attributes and the four phases of direct light and can it affect the discernments we develop towards the friends in the ten?
R. I don't know yet.
18. S. (29:52) Me as an individual, can I feel what my role is in the collective and implement it?
R. Become incorporated in the group and then you will know your role.
S. What's written here that according to hours, how can we do it in the ten, work a few hours? When one of the organs doesn't work the whole body can die.
R. Make efforts and that will teach you how to put things in the right order.
Reading “Thus you see..” (30:55)
19. R. (36:02) So how do we achieve the final correction? It's a question.
Reading “In the absence…” (36:27)
20. S. (41:45) How can you explain that the successful ones had to support the unsuccessful ones in order to not weaken society, how can you explain that?
R. You worked in the union for a long time so what was your main concern?
S. For myself, each one’s concerned for himself. We’re supposedly concerned about all people, that was the policy, but really?
R. I'm not asking about the truth, you corrupted the truth and that's what came out. But the truth on your flag, you carved a quality.
S. Right, look it was the Communist method. It didn’t start from the people who came to Israel and said we’ll be concerned about everyone; it came from a completely different method. That's how it started but then I saw personally in the system each one is concerned about themselves and not really about the others. He says that for society to exist the successful have to support the unsuccessful and if we would see it like that it would all be successful. It wasn't successful because they weren't concerned for the weak ones.
R. Because the nature of man is to care about himself, you can’t change it.
S. So he says that they had to work in mercy and I'm saying it wasn't like that it was just talking, it wasn't like that.
R. Of course it wasn't.
S. So what should have happened?
R. It's not about what should have, there was no other way. With human nature as it is, no other way was possible, you’re just behaving according to human nature.
S. Do you think it would work if we behaved differently?
R. That's what Baal HaSulam wants to teach us, what are we missing in order to achieve truth?
S. What are we lacking to succeed?
R. To rise above our nature of course, what is he writing for? If you could achieve a quality without the wisdom of Kabbalah and goodness for everyone then you wouldn't need the wisdom of Kabbalah.
S. So you’re saying it's destined to fail. Each one isn’t really concerned about others, it will never work.
R. There's no chance anyway, not this way or that way.
21. S. (45:22) We know about three states, man and Babylon and now a conflict of interests. What should we do…?
R. We have to build ourselves as a single whole where we’re all interconnected and interdependent. What arises from that if we correct our society in such a way is that everything will be good.
22. S. (46:18) In the beginning he defines truth as each one gives as much as he can and gets according to his exertion. He says you can’t measure it, it's not practical and that's why justice and mercy came. Then he says the truth is something else, mine is mine and yours is yours. It’s two opposite things, this is one truth and that's another truth?
R. No, truth has to be only one.
S. So what is mine is mine and yours is yours?
R. What's mine is mine and yours and yours is not truth, it’s a distribution that works according to the will to receive.
23. S. (47:12) Why is the truth in the hands of liars, why is it like that?
R. People who are deceiving other people are wise people who know how to use their intellect and manipulate the public and therefore they’re successful. That’s all.
S. Why did the Creator do it that way? It’s not the truth, if they’re liars what truth is that?
R. Their truth, according to their truth. Without correcting the will to receive, if you work with the inclination that exists in each and every person, then anyone who has more success is able to manipulate the public better.
S. But where is the truth, there is no truth?
R. There is no truth, of course there's no truth, no. How do you get the truth? You instead reach mercy, justice and peace and give up all those things to achieve truth because truth means world war.
S. So today we see that there's no peace, no justice, no truth so what’s left?
R. We’re left with soon having to do the calculation.
24. S. (49:18) We learned that there's None Else Besides Him so it turns out that these attributes of mercy, justice and peace they, too, are organized in our world. Is there anything we don’t need to justify in our egoistic world?
R. We need everything, the question is how do we achieve that? If we come to that through truth then mercy, justice and peace will fall into place.
S. I'm asking what's our work area? If this egoistic world is completely managed by the Creator it wouldn't exist without these attributes. So from what I hear, what is our work area?
R. Mercy, justice, and peace are the things that we need to sort out and then ‘truth will grow forth from the land,’ as it’s written. Meaning we’ll see how truth gradually becomes revealed between everyone.
Reading (50:52 - 55:43) “Hopes for Peace - Once those conditions brought society a great deal of strife and risked the well-being of society..”
Reading (56:03 - 01:00:06) “The Well-Being of a Certain Collective and the Well-Being of the Whole World - Do not be surprised if I mix together the well-being of a particular collective…”
25. S. (01:00:42) What truth do we need to ask the Creator to reveal to us?
R. Right.
26. S. (01:00:50) Will we, one day, one time, see a reality, mercy, truth and peace in the world?
R. Yes, we will get close to it, for sure.
27. S. (01:01:35) Today, the situation in Israel is that there is this concept that Baal HaSulam writes about, the well-being of the individual and the collective are one, it’s really felt in the bones! People feel that we are in the same boat and everyone’s sense of security is very much undermined; and there's also a connection, some connection between the separation we had here, the division and these cruel conditions, circumstances. How can we take all these conditions the Creator set up in our feeling to bring people of Israel closer to correction?
R. Read what Baal HaSulam says and do it in our life as much as possible.
S. He says, "how do we implement it?" He says “truth is destroyed and,” what do you mean when you said to implement it?
R. To implement that all these three components: mercy, justice, peace, we have to see them, look ahead and see how we can reach them.
S. How can we unpack these concepts a bit?
R. It is not right now, next lesson.
28. S. (01:03:18) I have a feeling that peace in the world, we can create it not with the concepts Baal HaSulam writes about but only in the connection between us, only when we achieve connection between us we will understand these concepts.
R. Yes.
29. S. (01:03:50) How do we reach justice? Can we love for others as we love ourselves, the root to reach justice and peace?
R. Yes.
30. S. (01:04:33) What is justice of the Creator towards us?
R. Each one has to receive according to his exertion only.
31. S. (01:05:06) These qualities of the peacemakers and the truth seekers that Baal HaSulam describes, when they appear in my attitude towards the ten and I think I'm working with the best intention. In what way can we discover and stop the destructive force?
R. You need to organize your demands as Baal HaSulam writes and then you will discover the right dependency between them and you will reach the truth.
32. S. (01:05:58) For the first time since I'm in Israel I saw a spirit that never existed in Israel, connecting everyone who lives here, all the spectrum of the people of all differences to a single desire that everyone now wants to help each other without any… to calculations we just in a way of mutual guarantee in all aspects. We feel as well in the army now all of the aiding forces and hospitals and other places. All there is is a society standing together. What can support this unified spirit that was burned out of the tragedy but it still feels like a spirit of salvation to all of us?
R. As Baal HaSulam writes it is good to have such spirit that works that way on one hand, on the other hand we need to see how we can really cause connection and unity and in that unity and connection between us we bring the spirit of unity to the whole world, to the whole world. That is what we need. To pray to the Creator that He does such actions with us.
33. S. (01:07:51) I want to clarify, there's a headline that will be of a certain collective and the well being of the whole world. Can we think of this certain collective as Bnei Baruch? That we want to be a model for the whole world and bring peace to the world basically?
R. Yes.
S. Speeding up the time is about hastening, ending the war?
R. Yes, it all depends on our desire.
R. (01:08:51) For now we will end because after this we are going to our virtual meal and we will meet and talk and the main thing is to come closer to each other's hearts.
