Article 128. “Exalt the Lord Our God”

“Exalt the Lord our God and bow before His holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.”

“Exalt” means that if one wants to know the exaltedness and greatness of the Creator, we can obtain this only through Dvekut [adhesion] and equivalence of form. Thus, what is “equivalence of form” and how does one achieve equivalence of form?

“Bow before His holy mountain.” Bowing means surrendering. It is when one lowers his reason and says that what the reason understands or does not understand, I annul and subjugate it. Before which quality do I subjugate it? Before “His holy mountain.” Har [mountain] means Hirhurim [reflections], meaning thoughts. “His holy,” for “holy” means separated from the matter. This means that he removes himself from the desire of reception. “Bow” means submitting the body, even though it disagrees, and taking upon oneself only thoughts of Kedusha [holiness]. This is the meaning “Bow before His holy mountain.”

Why must we submit ourselves to thoughts of Kedusha, meaning retire from receiving in order to receive? It is because “The Lord our God is holy,” for the Creator only bestows. For this reason, one must be in equivalence of form with the Creator, and by this we can obtain the exaltedness of the Creator. Afterward, we can achieve the attainment of the exaltedness of the Lord our God.

M. Laitman: Well, I don't see that there is any questions. What does it say to us here? How do we rise to faith above reason, that we need to hold the exaltedness of the Creator more than our exaltedness? The greatness of bestowal should be greater than the greatness of reception, that exiting from himself, from his will to receive to himself, it is more necessary than staying in the will to receive and to keep feeling him. All the options that we see that in them we can move away from the will to receive and to rise above it, all these options, we need to realize as much as we can on the condition that one helps his friend and, then by that, through great efforts, we eventually start to feel what does it mean to bow to the Creator, bow to His holy mountain. What does it mean bow to His holy mountain? That in this, we are starting to assess and raise the action of bestowal more than the action of reception as much as we can. With these exercises, as much as we do them more and more, although we can't think and we don't understand, although none of us is in bestowal but if we give each other examples as if we are in bestowal, then it will work on the friends in a truthful way. By this, each and every one will be impressed by the friend and would want to attain the quality of bestowal and he will have the strength to do all kinds of exercises so that the quality of bestowal will clothe in Him. This is why we need to do all kinds of exercises. For example, when I am in a group, I need to give them the example that I am in bestowal although I am not in bestowal—in it still. I need to lie to the friends as if I am in bestowal. I do not tell them in words but I do such actions that they understand that I am supposedly in bestowal, in order to bestow, in faith above reason, in spirituality.

Why? By that, I give them an example of what should be done. By that, we give examples to each other and give fuel to each other. By that, when I act in front of the friends as if I am in bestowal, they will also have bigger strength to work in bestowal, as if they are in bestowal and we pray for it to happen. Eventually, the reforming light comes on our MAN. What is a MAN? It is that we want to be in it but we are still not there. By that, we receive MAD and it gives us strength and with that, we enter in action to the quality of bestowal.

Question (PT 19): (07:37) What are the exercises that we have to do and does the exercise itself draw the reforming light, that it works, that I lie to the group and that could draw the reforming light?

M. Laitman: No, I only give them a corporeal example that I study, that I think, that when I talk as if I am in bestowal, in faith above reason, and this arouses them. This is what is called, each helps one another.

Student: Reading the Zohar or TES, that this can draw light but now you're saying, do exercises and that can actually draw the reforming light, the example that I give.

M. Laitman: No, I did not say that. I give them example as if I am in bestowal. They, from envy, also want to be in bestowal because they look at me and they think that I'm already in bestowal. Now they have the desire to be in bestowal and then they ask the Creator, they do all kinds of actions and so they reach it.

Student: What actually draws the strongest reforming light?

M. Laitman: Hissaron, lack by them.

Student: What do I have to do for that?

M. Laitman: For that, you need to show them an example, that you supposedly give, yes, already in above reason, in faith, in the force of bestowal.

Student: Great but how do I express it toward the Ten? What am I supposed to show them?

M. Laitman: You want to imply to them that you are already in order to bestow. Otherwise, how can you help them? They’re egoists. They know only one thing: what the other one has, I want it as well. God forbid, they poked his eye, I want to be—both my eyes be poked. He just wants more. It's like a little boy, child, that yells and screams and I want what the other has. Why do you want that? This is how it is.

Student: To make the friends envious, yeah?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Okay, good. Good, nice.

M. Laitman: You already know how to act in front of the friends as if you are great and by that you do them a great favor, that you draw them to be great as well.

Student: You know, for a person not to start fantasizing, he acted it so well out that, you know, he'll believe it.

M. Laitman: This is not important, don't worry. If he does it in order to arouse the friends, awaken them, he will not get confused.

Question (Kavkaz): (11:28) In the Tbilisi group, we have this one friend that I personally take an example from him. I think that he's already there in faith above reason, really. What can I do for him because he's doing for the entire group?

M. Laitman: You need to take an example from him. All kinds of actions of bestowal that he does, you need to take an example from him and try and do the same as well.

Student: Well, I take an example and I try to do the same.

Question (Asia): (12:23) In the past month and a half or two or half year or 20 years, all the students are around one topic. Everyone perfectly understands how to connect. What I want to ask is, what, to this day—I mean, it turns out that there's a tremendous connection. Everyone's connected. All of Bnei Baruch is one soul so how can we push this Ten into the next degree? What's there? What's waiting?

M. Laitman: The next degree or our next state, that what we need to attain is mutual bestowal to each other and only in the form of mutual bestowal, we can connect between us. We will be a Kli, a vessel, a place for the upper light to clothe in us and dwell in us. This is what we need to do, to do between us, actions of bestowal so that by the equivalence of form, this law, it will clothe in us. Relations between us needs to be the relations of bestowal. When a person wants to work for the sake of the Creator and not for himself, then he sees that everything he does is not for the sake of the Creator but only for his own benefit. In that state, he feels that he has nothing and he is completely empty, and he can fill this place only with a pomegranate, meaning if he goes above reason, which is called “exaltedness of the Creator.” In other words, he should ask the Creator to give him the power to believe above reason in the greatness of the Creator. That is, the fact that he wants the exaltedness of the Creator does not mean that he says, “If You let me attain the exaltedness and greatness of the Creator, I will agree to work.” Rather, he wants the Creator to give him the power to believe in the greatness of the Creator, and with this he fills the emptiness in which he is in right now.

It follows that were it not for the emptiness, that is, if he did not work on the path toward achieving Dvekut, meaning in equivalence of form, called “in order to bestow,” but rather like the general public, who suffice for the practices they observe, these people do not feel themselves as empty, but as full of Mitzvot.

However, specifically those who want to achieve bestowal feel the emptiness within them and need the greatness of the Creator. They can fill this emptiness specifically with exaltedness, called “full of Mitzvot,” to the extent that they ask the Creator to give them the power to be able to go above reason, which is called “exaltedness.” In other words, they ask the Creator to give them power in exaltedness that is above reason in greatness and importance of the Creator.

M. Laitman: What happens to us here? As much as we proceed and make all kinds of actions, we will feel ourselves more and more empty. We have nothing. We cannot attain anything. We do not get closer and even when we connect, we connect and then we dissolve again. We need to understand the essence of this state. Why do we receive such a state from the Creator? Because everything that the MAN has in each and every moment, it renews by the upper light, by the Creator. Why does the Creator behave with us in such a way? What do we have in this? Again, the Creator does it on purpose. We, although we don't have anything, we will start to assess ourselves, our situation, the connection between us as much as we can and we will try as much as we are found in this state, we will start to raise our state. I don't need nothing. I don't want to receive anything. I just want the opportunity to be in bestowal. As much as I think about the upper force, by that I feel my ability, my delight, that I can be in such an inclination to the Creator. This is called to work for the sake of the Creator, not for myself, not for anything else—just one thing, that I will be sufficed with what I have and for myself. I only want to give contentment to the Creator, to relate everything that happens to Him. All that He does, all that I go through during the day, it's all from Him. From myself, nothing, zero, completely, I have nothing on me which isn't bad nor good, nothing, everything I relate to the Creator.

Question (Kyiv 1): (20:46) I feel that my head's completely empty. I can't think about the friends, about the Creator, about nothing. How can I fill this with the greatness of the Creator and do something for Him?

M. Laitman: First of all, agree with that, that what you feel now comes from the Creator. First of all, it comes from Him. So, already, if you accept this feeling that it comes to you from the Creator because there is none else besides Him, of course, it is so but it's only if you want to be in it or don't want to be in it, you agree or do not agree, disagree, agree to the state that you receive now from the Creator, so you have a connection with Him. You already have a connection with Him. Now the question: why are you not pleased from what you have? Try for this moment to receive what you receive from Him in a fashion that you do not need anything else. In this feeling, in this point, if you go deep into this, you feel that you will have a connection with Him because you are in Tzimtzum. You supposedly do the returning light on this because you don't need anything than what you feel right now so, already, in this point, you are in a connection, in contact with the Creator. Try it. You're already in contact with the Creator. Start to expand this contact more and more widely over all kinds of variations that comes to you, all kinds of states, feelings, thoughts, to all these, above all these, start to imagine to yourself that you're in contact with the Creator. You don't want anything besides to relate yourself to Him, just to be devoted as much as you can, to be adhered as much as you can like a baby to his mother. This is already the states that you're slowly progressing, proceeding to be an Ubar. Ubar means that you're an embryo in the mother's womb. That's it and then you start. These are possible things and then all kinds of states go through you. To each and every state, you should say that you agree to be in every kind of state but only that I do not want to forget that it comes from the Creator. I want to be only in this; each state comes from the Creator. Yes, then nothing is interrupting me with all the moments in my life to be in the feeling of joy. Of course, There's None Else Beside Him. Everything I receive from Him. Let us do it now. Start this exercise and you will see how fast you will reach a state that you understand and feel the Creator's behavior towards you.

Student: What I don't exactly understand, you said that, first of all, I have to expand the state and furthermore you said that the reflected light, I build it somehow. This I don't exactly get.

M. Laitman: On the returning light, I am not speaking of now. It is not important right now but what I want now is that everything that comes to me, that I feel that I exist and in some kind of state, this state the Creator stabilized for me and because, that it comes from the Creator, I need to feel good in it. I want to thank Him for what He is doing to me. I do not want to go afar and forget and disconnect from Him and that He will be next to me further and further with whatever He does, with all the mixed thoughts that He sends towards me and all the thoughts which are foreign and all kinds of different feelings which are unpleasant to me. I would know that it comes from the Creator and that it is the good that does good. If I do not feel that there is none else besides Him and He is good that does good, these are the broken vessels and I request their correction. It is not that I want to be in a good feeling and feel the presence of the Creator but, of course, I want to be in it but not from the reason so that I will have a good feeling, but so that I will not be able to curse the Creator, to think of Him something which is wrong. This is why I ask for corrections.

Student: If I understand that were He to give me the strength I would be able to connect to the friends and bestow more to Him and be more grateful, is it possible to ask for that?

M. Laitman: Everything you want, towards bestowal you can ask anything you want. You are welcome. You have a Ten. Start to connect with them and then it will really be the vessel of faith above reason. You will start feeling the Creator and forward, onward.

Question (PT 18): (27:57) Everything you just explained to the friend and to us, it’s faith above reason. How do you come to that?

M. Laitman: What is the work above reason, that I don't feel and I don't understand, but together with this, I have heard enough times that everything I receive, I receive it from the Creator; there is none else besides Him. Let me relate to each and every state as it is that I receive it from the Creator, that's it, that's all.

Student: Work and faith above reason is something that only comes from the Creator. I can't do it by my own efforts.

M. Laitman: You need to do but the work starts from that; you say, everything I have in my brain and heart comes from above.

Student: That's the way to reach faith above reason?

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, that's it. There’s no more questions. Very nice.

Reading: (29:25) 51. Baal HaSulam. Shamati, Article 33, "The Lots on Yom Kippurim and with Haman"

What appears to one as things that contradict the guidance of “The Good Who Does Good” is only to compel one to draw the upper light on the contradictions, when wanting to prevail over the contradictions. Otherwise, one cannot prevail. This is called “the exaltedness of the Creator,” which one extends when having the contradictions, called Dinim [judgments].

This means that the contradictions can be annulled if one wants to overcome them, only if he extends the exaltedness of the Creator. You find that these Dinim cause the drawing of the exaltedness of the Creator. This is the meaning of what is written, “and cast his mantle upon him.”

It means that afterward he attributed the whole mantle of hair to Him, to the Creator. That is, now he saw that the Creator gave him this mantle deliberately, in order to draw the upper light on them.

However, one can only see this later, after one has been granted the light that rests on these contradictions and Dinim that he had had in the beginning. This is so because he sees that without the hair, meaning the descents, there would not be a place for the upper light to be there, as there is no light without a Kli [vessel].

For this reason, he sees that all the exaltedness of the Creator he had obtained was because of the Se’arot and the contradictions he had had. This is the meaning of “The Lord on high is mighty.” It means that the exaltedness of the Creator is awarded through the Aderet.

M. Laitman: Well, there's no questions? I don't know. The excerpts are very similar to each other.

Question (Kavkaz): (31:53) Dear Rav, according to what you just explained, if I understand correctly, there's none else besides Him. Everything comes from Him. When will I constantly be in—how is it possible to not be joyful if everything comes from Him?

M. Laitman: Well, of course, because you have to be always in joy. It doesn't matter because everything you receive, you receive it from the Creator. That's why, if a person knows this and tries to be in a society that holds him in this thought, it doesn't matter what he receives and what confusions comes to him. He already holds himself as in the—there is none else besides Him in his brain and heart, this is what he feels in his life, then he is always in joy.

Question (Moscow 1): (33:06) You explained to the friend very clearly, very rationally, but why doesn't a person recall it during the day, tops once or twice during the day and the rest of the time you fall out of it?

M. Laitman: We, during the day, as much as we want to be in connection with upper guidance and with the Creator, what happens to us? We are incapable of being in the constant faith. It is called constant faith because intentionally we always have the changing of the Reshimot which always changes. In this Reshimot, we reach a state that we always need to renew and renew and renew. Every time we must see it in our eyes as new. Again and again, we must renew the meanings of Zivug De’Aka. This is how it should be because it's all corrections. It's all Tikkunim, corrections. In any state one is in, he can be a servant of the Creator since he does not need anything, but does everything above reason. It turns out that one does not need any Mochin with which to be the servant of the Creator.

Now we can interpret what is written, “Set up a table before me, against my enemies.” A table means, as it is written, “and sent her out of his house, and she departed his house, and went” (Deuteronomy 24:1-2). A Shulchan [table] is like VeShlacha [and sent her], meaning exit from the work.

We should interpret that even during the exits from the work, meaning in a state of decline, one still has a place to work. This is the meaning of what is written, “the table that is before the Lord,” that precisely in this manner does he receive the face of the Creator. This is the meaning of subduing all the judgments, even the harshest judgments, since he assumes the burden of the kingdom of heaven at all times. That is, he always finds a place for work, as it is written that Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yochai said, “There is no place to hide from You.”

M. Laitman: Basically, all our work, at each and every moment, we need to renew our contact with the Creator, every time, each and every time. It doesn't matter that we are supposedly in the feeling of the Creator. It should be in your eyes as new, that you were in a state before that, and now you are in the same state. It doesn't belong. This is not spiritual. In spirituality, every second, if you can say every second, there is a new Reshimo and this is why you need to renew contact with the Creator, thought, feeling, each and every time. This is how you need to be, each and every time and then you will see how fast you move through all the states and reach the corrected states and further and onwards but not forget that you shouldn't let life go by without renewing contact with the Creator. Every moment you need to give the calculation that you need to renew contact with Him.

Question (Volga): (39:07) This is what I don't understand. How can I make it so that I won't do this work ten times a day but ten times an hour? How can we influence the entries and exits so that it won't throw me out for a few hours every time?

M. Laitman: This depends on the environment. Environment, friends, students, dissemination, everything that you take and arrange your schedule, all the things that you arrange basically determine how often you return to the renewal of contact with the Creator. Besides, you also need to ask for the Creator that He will remind you to not go too far and for a long time. But the main thing is the work with the group and each will help one's friend. Besides, try and be busy with all kinds of work that brings you back to contact with the Creator, to necessity.

Question (Asia ): (40:39) We're in this race and in this race we're all the time revealing the Creator and the love of friends as if it's unlimited. The question is how not to be disappointed in never being able to achieve the goal because the goal is growing bigger and bigger all the time. How do you relate to that?

M. Laitman: I don't understand what you get disappointed about. If in this current state I'm in contact with the Creator, then I don't matter in which contact I'm in, close or far, it's a contact, it's a connection. It's a contact. Then that's it. I'm done. It's okay. I've done my part.

Student: I'm not disappointed, to the contrary, I'm inspired, I want even more. For every friend from our society, everyone's ready, everyone's doing whatever he can.

M. Laitman: This is why we have to remind each other about this all the time. This is called faith and permanency, and then our relations with the Creator in between us will come together because we won't be able to turn to the Creator unless we hold on to each other, and we won't be able to hold on to each other unless we hold on to the Creator. Then it's called Israel, the Light, and the Creator are one, and then we'll advance, and it's possible to advance very quickly. M. Laitman: Listen to it again. Why should I make life easy on you?

Student: No, the question is if it's solvable.

M. Laitman: Everything is solvable only through the connection between us and the Creator. There is no other remedy for every situation.

Student: How can so?

M. Laitman: Wait a bit.

M. Laitman: It doesn't matter. It could be in any state. It could be in the worst possible state that suddenly you get such a desire for the Creator and such an ability. It's unrelated. The Creator, He knows when He has to, when does He have to be revealed or when should He reveal Himself. And there's no point in digging into these states. When does He, when doesn't He? M. Laitman: So what's the question?

Student: Let's do what we have to do, let's take the blame.

M. Laitman: Yes, so you don't have to ask me, you know what you have to do. You don't have to ask me, you yourself know what you have to do. You have no other solution, no other remedy but connection. You simply don't. Just think, how can you explain this to everyone? How can you explain this to the whole world? I want for my friends, like Rabash writes, for them to be standing in my heart and not that I'll get blows and more Corona and another million dead. We don't need that. To the contrary, if I'm waiting for that, then I don't love humanity, I'm not treating them the way I should. I have to love everyone. I have to reach “love your neighbor as yourself” toward everyone. That's called loving the world. And therefore, thinking that other more troubles, problems will come, that's not good. That throws us backwards instead of forward. Suppose you have children and you want to advance them in something, so you're asking for them to get suffering, for them to suffer and advance that way, or for them to advance through good things. So be careful thinking in that direction.

Question (PT 6): (56:56) In the start of the excerpt that we read, he says that in all states that a person is, he can be the worker of the Creator. What is it for us to be the worker for the Creator?

M. Laitman: That I tie myself in the Ten and all of my Bnei Baruch and the entire world and with the Creator. And everyone, including everyone besides the Creator, that's the Kli, that we want for him to clothe in that Kli and to enjoy being dressed in us. And we don't, we enjoy, not that he's filling us, giving us an infinite feeling of fulfillment and knowledge and everything, understanding and emotion, but what we enjoy is that we're making room for him to dress in us and enjoy it, because this is his real pleasure.

Student: It is clear. What can we study from these states that we cannot relate the reality to the Creator?

M. Laitman:

Student: So what can we learn from it?

M. Laitman: That you yet have work to do. I also don't understand why not.

Student: I don't know. You just find yourself. Not tying it in the current moment to the Creator.

M. Laitman: That's called lack of faith. Lack of faith means the lack of the presence of the Creator in you. So there will be, don't worry, it'll come.

Student: So how do I evolve this ability to relate in the current moment to the Creator?

M. Laitman: So we can agree on it that we think each for all, and then every moment there are several people that are in it and will be responsible for the others, and this way we will reach a state where eventually all of us are in contact with the Creator, and all of us eventually care for an entire Kli. That's called Arvut.

Student: We need to reach a state in which in the current moment, are you able to relate to the Creator, or are you not able to relate to the Creator, but afterwards?

M. Laitman: That's also good, that you forget, and then you regret, and nonetheless you come to an answer. It's okay.

Student: So, we can conclude that we are mutually guaranteed that we must help each other related to the Creator.

M. Laitman: There are several things here. If the Kli is in a state that you can already reveal it, then you feel the lack of connection with the Creator. If the Kli still has an Aviut, suppose on the second, third degree, and you can't open it up yet, then you miss out on it, but afterwards you're kind of anxious about it, you go back to that, you correct it. We'll see these things.

Question (New York 4): (01:00:44) If I'm in a state which I cannot relate to the Creator, I can go above reason, I can disseminate, and because of the dissemination, I exit the state. And because of the dissemination, is it also a sort of correction?

M. Laitman: Excellent. Continue. Excellent. Very good.

Question (PT 13): (01:01:30) What is it that the Creator clothes in us and enjoys it? When does this happen?

M. Laitman: When you give Him the opportunity to.

Student: What does it mean that He enjoys it?

M. Laitman: He enjoys dressing in His created beings, because by that He delights them, and this is His goal toward them. He created them in order to fulfill them with pleasures of His own, and this is what He enjoys. He enjoys the giving.

Student: And we enjoy, He enjoys.

M. Laitman: We enjoy for Him to enjoy, and so we're arranging a place for Him to reveal Himself, because this is what He enjoys, fulfilling us.

Question (Kavkaz): (01:02:38) If we reach the lesson, and there we do Tzimtzum, constriction, restriction, I do a restriction, nothing else, and relate to the Creator. So my friend's here, Rav is here, and the Creator.

M. Laitman: You do it several times, and then we'll talk. You didn't do it yet, and you're already asking again. That's not good. Try to really have experience, and then ask. And we'll see. What do we do?

Question (PT 34): (01:03:25) I wanted to ask about if we understand correctly- When the Creator reminds us of Himself, is this called the Brit, the unity that He realizes by Himself? And when we bring Him to the Ten, is this unity between us, and this is the dialogue between us about the exaltedness?

M. Laitman: Yes

Question (PT 29): (01:04:00) Why does “above reason” is called above feeling?

M. Laitman: It's not above what you feel. “Above reason” means that despite my egoistic mind, let's put it at that, let's leave it at that.

Student: So feeling we do not…

M. Laitman: Reach above reason, and then we'll talk. You're saying already, no, but it's not that. First of all, try to get there, reach it.Then we'll see. It's different Kelim, but you have both feeling and understanding.
