Living between Opposites - Selected Excerpts from the Sources

1. Rav’s Introduction: Living between opposites, we see even in our life that we relate to children and babies with goodness, in sweetness, with warmth, with love, nothing that is even reminiscent of the same negative attitude. This is how a person grows and thus when we enter the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah although we learn about the evil inclination, that this is our nature none-the-less, we are not little children, we are adults, mature and we are advancing. Although we do not know what is spoken about, the ego, the will to receive, because we can only feel a thing from it's opposite, from the force of bestowal and we do not have that yet.

Only the force of reception exist in us and determines everything and controls, rules and thus as it is written when we teach children we teach them out of the good things, we explain to them a bit more and the bit more and study, and give them explanations, sweet and good explanations until they reach some stage in which they are capable of putting up with one against the other which is called a thing and its opposite. The matter is that we as created beings are incapable of feeling anything in itself, a single quality, bestowal, love, there is no opposite. If we the created beings are in opposite form from Him, in opposite quality of reception, the pleasure that we receive we feel, we acquire and we get filled. And when we want to speak about us with respect to the Creator then we already need to combine the two systems, the system of bestowal and the system of reception and between them we exist. And here we need to advance.

Also in our corporeal earthly life, there too when we grow and pass the toddler years and the childhood years we begin to feel more and more that the world is not all good, that there are all sorts of bad things in it, dangerous things, painful things. As much as the parents may guard us, protect us still we feel this and we need to learn how to be open to it, how to use things to guard ourselves against dangers, against blows and not just how to protect ourselves but even how to put up with them, to deal with them face to face, with all sorts of disturbances. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us that these systems, the evil inclination and the good inclination, these two systems are arranged from above by the Creator, that specifically by the correct use of both of them we can get closer to the attainment of the upper root, the whole root.

Whole specifically because the attainment of the root, of both of these systems the evil inclination and good inclination, good and bad, bestowal and reception, they support one another and there cannot be one without the other. Rather only in the unity and connection between both of them can we attain the correct unity between both of them. And this is how we attain the Creator, come and see. Meaning that we need to prepare our will to receive, specifically a big one and along with this the desire to bestow above it, also big according to the will to receive. It cannot be more or less rather only that they will be balanced. And the bad nonetheless will be subjugated by the good force, the force of good will control it but only to cover it and not break it, and not so that the evil would disappear, no.

Rather ultimately that we complete all these exercises, these corrections that the good controls over the bad. We begin to work on this that also the bad connects to the good and by this the good grows even more. Meaning that we have in our progress towards the purpose of creation to resemble the Creator, we have two stages. The first stage is that we only cover this evil with good which is called that we acquire the qualities of bestowal, to bestow on the intention to bestow upon the will to receive that’s buried within. And this is called that we are in vessels of Hassadim, of mercy. And later on we turn the vessel of reception into receive in on the intention to bestow which is the second stage.

This is already when we begin to receive actively light on the intention to bestow, to receive on the intention to bestow which is called the light of Hochma. In both these stages we advance until the end of correction. All the evil is subjugated under the good, and not just that it’s subjugated but later on it also works in the direction of the good, and that’s called that the darkness shall illuminate as the light. In such a manner we reach the whole correction of the nature of creation and in this way we become entirely, entirely resembling the Creator, adhered to Him and this is the path. Meaning all our work is, as it is written here in the title of these excerpts, living between opposites. That specifically these opposites, this contrast, this oppositeness in nature to receive and to bestow, we need to combine them together, mix them together and to subjugate the reception under the bestowal, that it will work specifically in this way.

Then we feel how much the Creator created these things intentionally on our path, and all its details are intentionally arranged such, and we only need to speak and work on the connection between us. That in this is the entire solution to all our problems that are revealed, from the oppositeness of both these forces, reception and bestowal and now let's go to the excerpts and if you want then ask more, and we will delve deeper as much as possible, get deeper into it as much as possible. Because it is not important here who is at the beginning or the middle or end of the path, the process is actually a process that speaks to everyone, so let's read.

2. S. (09:52) When the evil appears it appears in many layers.

R. And according to the path, to the person, to his soul as much as the person needs to advance. Like a child, as much as he is grows then providence brings upon him all sorts of forms of hardship, and then he needs to think how to overcome this hardship. And this is how the person grows.

3. S. (10:28) And the advice that Kabbalists give to cover the bad is to connect.

R. There is no other solution. And where will you take force to cover the bad?

S. But there is no emotional connection or even intellectual connection.

R. We are born only from the evil force. The Creator says I have created the evil inclination and thus we have no choice. Only in such a manner do we feel reality. You see how a person is born, yes? He holds himself like this and he doesn't want anything, he just yells and cries and demands and he understands only what is good for him or bad for him, but in respect to him and what we need is only to give what is good for him because he grows out of this. He doesn't understand other things, he cannot scrutinize anything that is not for his benefit. These are the days of smallness.

S. Exactly, so I would expect that if there is something bad you cover that specifically but it's like the solution is in a different place, in the connection.

R. No, one moment. This, that we are born in such a state and develop such, this is how we are taken care of, yes, that we are given only good things. What do we want from a baby? That he will sleep and eat, he's given a bottle and sleep, a bottle and sleep, that’s it. He’s cleaned up and all the time like this, like a little animal. Later on he grows a bit and he's given toys that he plays with for his benefit, he enjoys them but already he has a thing and its opposite.

He does something and he sees that he succeeds more or succeeds less. Meaning we slowly slowly are drawn to him, meaning nature awakens him to this, that he will also know the other side. And thus slowly, slowly if we’ll see his path, how he grows he’s constantly going towards recognizing the other side of nature. That he does not so much understand or is tied with the force of bestowal, only the force reception and thus his whole life is divided into two, even though he does not understand this, the force of reception which is good for me and the force of bestowal which is bad for me.

S. So how to better connect emotionally and even intellectually between the matter of connection and the only means to cover the bad.

R. Kabbalists write to us about this all the time in all sorts of stories and manners. We talk about this from the first day that a person comes to us, that our entire goal is connection. And a few years we go through in our lives before we begin to feel that there is truth in these words, they are not just empty words. A person who comes to us, even now we see why it is written that a thousand enter a room and one comes out to illumination, why?

Because one out of a thousand, I have found all sorts of excerpts, that’s how it was once. But nonetheless you see how many people come through all our different circles and how many remain, a small percent relatively. Why? Because a person needs all the time to hear about the purpose of connection, the uniqueness of connection, what there is in connection, that through the connection he attains the purpose of creation, the purpose of life. And even if he does not have anything in life, we see today all kinds of wars and problems and divorces and people don’t have much to yearn for, they don’t have such great goals that they are only willing to live for that. But even in such a life to leave all the little pleasures that he has in his life, his laziness not to do anything, this is the main thing, what our ego wants.

To continue to connection through my desire, with my desire with others, to connect with them, maybe there I will find some unique gift, it doesn’t seem to me, it’s not in my vessels, it is not arranged in my mind and heart for this. And thus only people who have the point in the heart, they feel that through this path they can reach something that is important for them. Only these people are prepared to go forward and approach the goal. On this it’s written, also in the book of Zohar. By the way I want to begin to read Zohar, maybe in the afternoon hours. Only in such a manner can we advance.

S. We say that living between opposites, it’s not that one thing and it's opposite is connection and lack of connection, but it is bad in different aspects and the solution, the opposite seems to be connection. So how to relate to the bad, the evil to the connection?

R. Between the evil and connection, the evil and good, I can only through the Creator, that in Him our hearts will be happy. Meaning that everything I receive I receive only from Him although not directly, not in a direct manner, rather through all sorts of people and events and so on. And through this the Creator teaches me. On one hand He manipulates me with all sorts of forces, events, occurrences and then I fall in them through my nature, and later on He teaches me how I can, despite this, connect with the friends and connect with Him. Then by all sorts of these forms of study I see how I nonetheless prefer to be connected to the Creator above all the disturbances, and that’s how we advance. In our times you can even see this on yourself and how we need to arrange ourselves to continue onward despite all the disturbances that the Creator formed for us and arranged them such that that is how it will happen. Thus we don’t need to put up so much against the disturbances themselves, rather we need only to connect between us and to the Creator and specifically upon these disturbances we will quickly attain the purpose of creation, more and more in an intense manner.

4. S. (19:18) In order to make this work more accurate with the two sides of the evil inclination when something bad unfolds what does it mean that we cover it with love? What does it mean that in the first stage when something bad appears to us what does it mean that we cover it with love?

R. I already said just now, if I receive these things that are seemingly bad, to harm me, against me, I receive them in a manner that it comes from the Creator in order to advance me and this is how I receive it and this is how I also show the friends. This is a great big wide study, a learning that needs to be advertised between everyone, that everyone needs to learn from this. We don’t so much pay attention to the person himself or what happened but rather the attitude, that we need to give to the Creator who both arranged and prepared all these states and reveals them, so that we will rise above them and adhere to Him.

S. To cling to Him means to feel love?

R. At least that I owe whatever happens to me to Him. That it is He who does them to me and there is None Else Besides Him in order that I will be directed, aimed to Him and in order that I in such a manner will also draw my friends, pull them to this, and in my case also the students. We will learn everything that is happening to us actively, in action, everything that is passing over us, both you and me and this will be a good study for us how the Creator is arranging everything for us.

S. You said that afterwards in the second stage we will then see that the evil goes together with the good.

R. Of course. We’ll reveal later on that there’s no bad, in truth it comes from the Creator so how can it be that there is no bad? We’ll determine that there is no bad in the world and also the bad turns into good because both of them are built in order to direct me to the goal and why do I need to learn and approach the goal from both directions, from one side and the other, from the side of bad and from the side of good seemingly? It’s in order that from between both of them I can as a created being bring myself closer to one term and be adhered to the Creator, to the single force. It’s not so understood as yet but the words are true. You reveal it and you will feel it.

5. S. (23:16) After we relate everything to the Creator and cover it with love the next stage is to use it as a springboard for more connection. Yesterday I heard you say in the lesson that there is this musical instrument of connection that we should create in the ten. So if we want to take that into the ten and try to create that instrument what do I do? Do I start talking about the differences that I feel from yesterday to today and an hour ago and now or something else?

R. I don't think we have so much opportunity to talk about the manners of connection between us from day to day, how each is playing some note and then each time we reveal some cord between us. I don't think so but it will come quickly.

S. So what is the right thing to do?

R. The right thing to do, to make an effort to get closer and be in one intention in understanding what the Creator is doing with us and how he is directing us to our connection. But we still cannot differentiate what each and every one of us, with what tone, what note he can express himself compared to the friends, but soon it will come. And then we will truly all play as one system, a musical system, yes. It will also be like singing on our part to the Creator, it will come.

6. S. (25:25) It appears that from day to day we more and more relate everything to the Creator. I also feel it in my ten, that everything that is happening to us, all the disturbances, the more delusional they are it is done by Him. It’s like He does it by giving us harder and harder trials. Is one who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater, is this also about the disturbances the Creator sends?

R. Of course it’s like that. Who of us advances more advances less? In who the will to receive is greater, more insulated he advances more. Meaning the Creator presses on him, operates upon him more. It‘s more difficult for him, it takes him more time to understand all sorts of things, to agree with the friends but they advance specifically in such a manner. There is a big difference between how people advance according to the size of their desire.

S. I remember I read from the very pointed sage Menachem he said he needed 300 students and that would be enough for him to ride the wave and achieve None Else Besides Him. It’s so important that we isolate ourselves in this desire towards Him and intensify it?

R. Yes, yes, yes. And basically we will feel in ourselves all sorts of problems small and big and general and private that the Creator will pass over on us, and specifically by this we connect, we pass over them and raise ourselves upon them. Yes, that will be.

7. R. (32:16) This means that we need to understand that each and everything that we attain, we attain it from it's opposite form and if we want to get closer to the Creator, to understand Him, to feel Him we first of all reveal the opposite vessels, the opposite phenomena, the negative ones: lack of understanding, lack of sensation, lack of connection, repulsion, hate. Only against this, in contrast to this to the same extent we can attain the connection, adhesion, wholeness and godliness. Then once again even more separation even more distance even more hate, and then once again we overcome this and get closer to the Creator and subjugate ourselves towards Him and attain the adhesion, unity and godliness.

8. S. (33:19) Can we say the world outside of the ten is actually a reflection of the connection inside the ten?

R. Well we will soon check that.

S. Can we say that the ten is inside another ten?

R. Yes, this is how we reveal each time a ten that is more internal. We attain the ten in a more internal manner.

9. S. (34:14) We talk about the polarity, the oppositeness, we are sitting here men and women, and yesterday we sat here together and we had a meal and the played music. To me it is very interesting to hear how from this contrast we can attain the Creator and the soul.

R. I will tell you, I reveal in this Congress and your assembly, the first time there is some connection between everybody, it is still weak and not so intense, it does not truly cover everybody and tie everybody together but it’s already present, it already dwells in something upon everyone. This is the first time it is possible to reveal in the European Congress and we’re very happy that it’s occurring, it truly is something very unique. I think at this time, you’ve reached, in sum total, to connection in a certain summary on the path to revelation of the upper force towards you and this needs to continue, and you will reveal how much the Creator yearns such to be revealed between you and fill you. We will do this, we’ll make an effort to reach this soon. L’chaim to you European Kli, L’chaim!

10. S. (36:41) Another angle of one thing and its opposites: on the one hand the haters undermine the credibility of Kabbalists, on the other hand the people are supposed to follow the Kabbalists so how will this happen if there are always these disturbances?

R. Do not worry, don’t worry about that, the moment that we begin to connect upon all the exercises that the Creator does with us and there is None Else besides Him, that we receive all this that nonetheless we are going towards connection between us and then you will see how much in this we will succeed and this is what will happen that they will fall. Look what is written in the Book of Zohar on this and in all sorts of places, this actually the Creator is giving and preparing ahead of time, all sorts of such events in order to fail in them and learn from them that there is None Else Besides Him.

S. Meaning in relation to dissemination I’m asking?

R. Dissemination too, do not think it will be harmed, nothing will be harmed from what needs to reach correction. It is like this, the righteous are who justify the Creator in everything He does with them, they will go forward in this and the wicked will fall in this. And thus, do not make your own calculations, it’s all from above and we need to do what is upon us to do, that's it. Every moment that passes you need to say, “there is None Else Besides Him”, every moment ahead of us, is all dependent on me.

11. S. (38:50) One of our goals is to disseminate the Creator in the world and that also brings Him contentment so how do you explain that the Creator disturbs the action that He, Himself?

R. He does not disturb, what are you philosophizing here? He's not disturbing, you need to continue in your bath and understand that all of this is done, the Creator will do what He needs to do, He will do what He needs to do nonetheless and you with your mind do not get into His calculations, what is upon you is only to do what is needed of you. And thus, look today, how I am giving the lesson, like yesterday and the day before, we are going on the same path, that's it. Why are you inserting your mind into these calculations, if you were at least in corrections, but to insert into what is happening in a corrupted mind, this is entirely not understood for me.

S. So tell us, how do we need to respond?

R. Say what, you will tell us what you want to say, ask me and you will pass it onwards. I’ll tell you what you need to say and you will pass it on.

S. Any situation that appears and I am trying to put my brain into it, what do I do ?

R. Don't insert your brain into any place because it’s corrupted mind and you are doing incorrect calculations; rather you need to take your mind, your brain from the group, from the connections and from there to disseminate to everybody. But if you remain an individual, an egoist, then do not open your mouth, it is forbidden for you to disseminate only what you have. Only from the group after you connected, from that each one can disseminate, is it clear?

12. S. (41:18) In contrasting circumstances, how will I see the spiritual vessel of friends rather than seeing their physical faces?

R. We have to see how connected we are in the 10 and work from that. We try, let’s put it more correctly, we try not to work with my individual will to receive but with our group’s will to receive, the ten’s, and with that we advance. And each time if we are drawn to connections then each time, we have a new collective will to receive and with it, from it we make the calculations to advance not with each and everyone's individual will to receive, this is really incorrect.

The moment we want to advance spiritually then each is not taken into account as an individual, only as a ten and from there we have to try to turn to the Creator and not that I myself pray and ask, this is completely not going to work. So we can continue maintaining this individual attitude towards the Creator for years and years and nothing will happen. Only from connecting between us, we try to engender our collective mind and feeling and with it we return to the Creator and then we will see how we advance from moment-to-moment. The moment we let it go we fall and it’s written about that.

13. S. (43:55) It is hard for me to accept that all these negative qualities come from the Creator, so I ask you, do they appear in me when the Creator is revealed or are they truly present already at the root?

R. The Creator says to begin with, “I have created the evil inclination”, you have heard it many times from me, and He's not hiding it, He tells the human that the human is completely zero, he’s neutral, he has an evil inclination that comes from the Creator and a spark of the good inclination called, ‘the point in the heart’. So, man's nature is evil from birth, this is how we evolved until we come to a state that we have some connection, some desire to connect with the Creator through all kinds of forms, wants to know the life, the essence of life, the purpose of life what we live for and so on, and that’s how we advance.

But always, all the states we go through come from the Creator, we are inside the Creator, He governs everything both each one of us and all of us together, we are in the system called, the Creator, Bo Reh, ‘come and see’. So do not think that you exist on your own and even that mine with which you asked me something now, about Him and us and everything, it all comes to you from the Creator, it all comes from the Creator.

14. S. (46:04) What is it inside of us that keeps making us see all these things as disturbances while we know and we keep studying and learning that they are opportunities, why cannot we see it that way?

R. Because we always have to feel ourselves comprised of two forces, two inclinations, the good and the evil inclinations, and we are in between, we’re in the middle. We have to decide every moment how we are comprised of both and this is our work, this is our confusion between us and also between each one with himself and the Creator. And so, this is how we advance in such a way from one thing and its opposite, between light and darkness, and this is how we’ll advance towards the truth.

15. S. (47:25) How can we overcome the strong sensation of hate towards our haters that are revealed? In my mind it is understood, there is None Else Besides Him, but the emotions are very strong.

R. This is a sign that you are not sufficiently bonded with the Creator, not sufficiently adhering to the Creator, that you still have some impression of your own of what is happening. For me, in all of those states that happen, I do not see anything, any person, I do not see here, it’s only the forms of the Creator in which He relates to me. It all originates in a single source and this is how He runs around me, all kinds of elements and actions, and I have to establish myself, by that, and this is how I adapt myself to the Creator more and more.

Everything comes from Him and goes through all sorts of filters and it reaches me, and in return despite all of those different forms I received from Him I have to reach a single source again, is this clear what I said? This is basically my work: from The Creator there is a single light that comes through various small slits in some partition and then it goes through me in all kinds of ways, different forms, different people and systems and incidents towards me and I have to relate to all of those in return that they actually come from a single source that is the Creator. Even though I see all of those things in such a different, varied way I relate all of this to Him and thus this partition between us disappears and so internally I wish to connect to a single source.

S. Actually, in this overcoming in the internal work, a person reaches greater adhesion to the Creator?

R. Of course, this is basically the goal of each and every moment in life that we feel, understood?

16. S. (50:37) You say that we must see only the collective desire and from there we go, we address to the Creator. So, the question is whether each of in the ten contributes separately to formulate a prayer or should we all compose it together?

R. This depends on what group we are talking about, when we hear all kinds of things that come to separate us, confuse us on the path, we have to understand they come from None Else Besides Him, that all of those happen in order for us to connect between us more tightly and to aim ourselves to Him despite all of the disturbances that seemed to tear the connections between us and thus we’ll advance. So, it all happens for us to grow stronger in our connection and from our connection to the Creator.

17. S. (52:10) This that I ascribe to the Creator, as the good that does good, in all of the states that He acts on us in our connection within the ten, so actually I understand that He's bringing me exactly what I need in order to get closer to Him and that gives me the hate for separation?

R. What I get in each and every moment in my life is given to me from above and what is also given to me is how to organize it so as to relate everything I have to the group and to the Creator, and if I do this correctly then I make a big step forward towards the complete adhesion with all of reality which is the final correction.

S. So, what is exactly the condition, it says that “before we reach His love and adhesion and attain all this positive force, I need to attain the hate of separation, what is this?

R. “Hatred of separation” is that I reject all kinds of forms of separation, and correspondingly, the opposite way, I come to adhesion. So, separation was given to me in order for me to rise above it towards adhesion so this means to make a restriction, screen, reflected light upon it and then adhesion, we’ll learn how to do this in practice.

18. S. (54:04) Why does the Creator advances us in repulsion and not drawing us, by pulling us?

R. How can He attract you, what kind of candy can He show your evil inclination that will bring you closer to Him, envy, hatred, honor, lust, what?

S. So what does it mean?

R. We always advance toward the Creator only by rejecting the bad, hating the evil, and therefore, the more we advance, He reveals to us more evil so that we can rise above it, reject it and rise to the good.

S. But when the disturbances are revealed what allows the person to be above?

R. Why do you think it is a disturbance, how is it a disturbance, give me an example?

S. Unpleasant for my will to receive.

R. Not pleasant to the will to receive that’s a clear sign of assistance, it’s unpleasant to the will to receive so the Creator is helping you refrain from the will to receive, to move away from the will to receive, this is called help.

S. So, how to use this aid, this help, in order to strengthen the adhesion to the Creator?

R. To see correctly that help, that assistance, that it is actually helps you to hate your ego and all the various egoistic forms around you which is also belong to you and then you can rise above them to adhesion with the Creator, to help, to love Him with whatever He does to you.

S. So, the ability to see the disturbance’s assistance, what determines that you will succeed to see this help, actually?

R. The essence, the importance of the goal: if the goal is important, I do not care what I have to go through as long the way as long as I get there.

S. That’s clear, so is there adhesion in the Creator without disturbances, does such a thing exist?

R. How, this I do not understand? This path is unclear to me, this part is unclear to me. We can go through each and every moment on the path only by disturbances but we can make them such that they will be pleasant.

S. So, the disturbances are part of the Kli, part of the vessel?

R. The disturbance is the recognition of evil that you transform to good, that specifically by it you cling to the friends and to the Creator more and more.

19. S. (57:41) How can we support a friend that people get up against him?

R. Just to recognize that it is common to and shared by all of us, that we all have to go against that internally. That we have to be more bonded between us and the Creator, that there is no more to do, nothing more to do, and they ask and pray to the Creator to give us the force of connection, we have nothing else with which to defeat all those ‘shells’ that rise against us.

S. We are requesting from the Creator that He’ll give us the force of connection and prayers and order?

R. So that we will win against all the forces of separation. Why do they come, they come against us in order to separate us and separate between us and the whole world. That’s what their work is about and that’s the mind, power and emotion that the Creator gives them and we have to overcome against that.

S. The correct result will be that the disturbance disappears?

R. No, that we will overcome the disturbance with our connection and thus we rise from one degree to the next.

S. Can we prey on a specific friend who receives disturbances or it has to be a general one, on our general correction?

R. Well, it is also possible, yes, but the more accurate is the collective connection. If we are all feel it together, that it comes and separates us, then we work on our general connection and this is really what the Creator wants, that we will come to increasing connection. I am very happy that we came to such a stage. You’re still not aware of how this raises us to another level of our spiritual work. And some will leave and some will fall but what can you do? This is the path, we cannot now stop in the middle and wait for some others to get wiser, who do not invest themselves so much. Only go forward whatever the Creator gives us, we work with it and implement it.

20. S. (01:00:30) The will to receive wants quiet and we don't have quiet now. This actually took me to this verse about the Sages say that “the greatest joy is their relief of doubt”, is this correct?

R. We learn from history that all Kabbalists had such wars due to all kinds of forms and reasons and we have to understand also from their writings that it’s impossible to advance without war, and the war is against man’s ego and what is He trying to hurt? To hurt the person's ego, the person’s ego, and if a person is already ready for it, then he receives such harms that he is able to cope with, that he is ready to take himself out of his ego and cope with the world. Why, because he is bonded with the Creator and it is impossible to differentiate between him and the Creator and therefore, he has no shame, no weakness, nothing, he just stands and faces the Creator and works.

He can have the whole world stand up against him, he can still have who to rely on because he has the Creator and thus, he stands against everyone and we see this also from our history, how everyone had to cope this way, of course on higher degrees than ours, against the ego and slander and all of those things. Don't worry all of that will pass, we will remain and they will fall, this is their role. This is called ‘the audacious dogs’.

21. S. (01:03:10) So actually, we're constantly in this test, how adhered we are to the Creator despite that He put us in this opposite form, is it a type of personal test for each and every one?

R. Each and every one and all of us together.

S. So, what do I need to do, how do you come out of this test that you are at least successful with some good grade, above average?

R. By holding onto the Creator and the friends and I see that I can rely on both these and those.

S. Yes, but why are we given this test?

R. We can’t advance from state to state, moment to moment, if not by trials.

S. They're checking our loyalty to the path?

R. Yes, of course, how much you disregard your will to receive and you're willing to cling to bestowal.

22. S. (01:04:23) I want to sharpen this new degree of ours: always when something occurred we would react on two levels: one is to connect between us and the Creator, and also on the physical level, if somebody beats me, I beat him back, if someone write to me, I write him back. This time we're saying don't engage at all, this is our new degree?

R. Yes, this too, yes; we have nothing to reply, we will influence everything through the Creator.

S. So, if now there are questions that arise from family, friends, we just stay quiet and say “leave it alone”, do not engage?

R. He should tell them what we're talking about right now.

S. What, connection with the Creator and between us?

R. Right, right, so they will say, “okay, he is delusional”, and they will leave him alone, so what? Can I say that or not, am I doing harm to anyone? I say that I'm holding on to the Creator, to me He is the source of everything and everything that happens in the world comes from Him and so I turned to Him, I have no one else to turn to.

R. So what, yes, this is customary also in Judaism.

23. S. (01:06:09) What kind of desperation will be the driving force for us, the right action towards the right work and the solution?

R. Despair of our own strength and with this confidence in the Creator, that’s it. Altogether that leads us to connection with the upper force where we feel there is None Else Besides Him, and correspondingly I have nothing of myself. But “if I am not for myself then who”, meaning that I connect myself to the friends and through them to the Creator.

24. S. (01:07:14) What we are going through now is just unbelievable, the strong connection that we have gone through yesterday. We haven't had such a state yet in the friends even said that something burst out! Everyone, everyone here worked together and made the effort and the strong desire for connection, a strong desire to build this mutual prayer, that we can give something to the world Kli. R. I think you need to determine between you, systems, and you already have some, for how you’re going to advance and to the point that you discover in your connection the upper force.

That you will really work on that, more and more, especially you Alex. For many years you're with us, you understand what it is about, so we have to try to muster all of the European strength and to do that, I think, that it is worthwhile to put together groups from all of the European countries as much as possible and have them work together in one embrace, one bonding. I don't really have the words here but this is day-to-day work where you meet and talk and discuss and review the lesson, perhaps, or part of it and you if you want, once in a while we can have lesson dedicated to you. S. I think that the afternoon lesson, today, is actually the topic today.

R. Very well, I am willing to take part in that however you want, I am expecting that.

25. S. (01:10:54) There is some opposition, yes like a child throwing a tantrum who doesn't want to accept what is given to him, he only wants what is pleasant to him, how do we overcome this opposition in order to accept this state and to do it in love and good?

R. There are few conditions that we need to overcome here, to overcome our egoistic stubbornness. First, that we understand that this rejection doesn't pass easily, and we just have to continue whatever happens and in this life as we learn daily, connect a few times a week or maybe every day, from that we try not to fall, not to go down from that, whatever happens. It’s just like how we have to strengthen the physical body, feed it with a few calories and so forth, we have to feed the soul similarly, and that is through the connection between us.

That we will receive at least some minimal portion of life to be alive, that is one. Two, we, nevertheless, try to work on dissemination because through dissemination something else begins to happen. The Creator has to pass light to us that fits the external vessels that we bring closer, and then we receive something in addition that we would not have received on our own and that is why it is worthwhile for us to do it, we receive additional things through that. So don't let go of dissemination, and besides that, basically, the lessons, meals, dissemination, what else? Try, try, try more, try to develop more manners of connection. I am certain that everyone is capable of coming closer to adhesion and bringing his soul to the complete correction.

26. S. (01:13:53) The sacrifice that reaches a few friends in the ten, does this show we need to work stronger in the connection between us?

R. Certainly anything negative that we the feel, shows us directly the source we have to correct and along with it, anything positive that appears we also have to check what positive means, maybe it is positive to our ego that we receive it without criticism like that. I don't know, but what might be in there for all the positive things, and all the negative things, we have to to check and then sort it out, and only then work with it, and the negative things, that we can watch out, but the positive things.

That is we will talk about it more, because that can be really, really pose a big disturbance to us, it's like drugs it is pleasant, it's nice, it is good, but it ruins us. So with this we will advance and see what is a good friend, what is a bad friend, and what is a good thing and what is a bad thing, and it says that not for no reason, it says one the Creator loves, He rebukes, meaning He strikes him and gives him disturbances on his path because by that he's certain to advance.

27. S. (01:16:33) From the beginning of the lesson you talked about bestowing in order to bestow and then to receive in order to bestow. Can you explain this with regards to disturbances, how can we work with the disturbances that comes in such shapes?

R. No it's not for now, you're asking correctly but it's not for now.

28. S. (01:17:41) States are designed as one opposite the other, why are we still using terms like good and bad, is there any means by which we can depict these qualities to ourselves instead of through the lens of separation, calling them good and bad?

R. For the time being we cannot yet sort them in another way, but rather towards our general will to receive, our desire to enjoy, so therefore that is why we are defining things as good and bad. Later we will join to them also truth and false, and bestowal and reception, and then eventually we will feel how we work with lights themselves, and then I will work not with a desire to receive and what I feel within it, but rather in that which I bestow to others and what I invite in others, and that is according to the measure of my connection with others. I am asking to hear what we are saying now, because in today's lesson we are moving to a completely different state in our spiritual perception, here several times, how to relate to reality, this will help us and raise us to the next spiritual degree. That we don't relate according to what is good for us and bad for us and our egos, but brother according to the truth.

29. S. (01:20:00) How to relate to friends who used to be in very internal circles in our society and moved to the other side?

R. It's written about that, don't believe yourself until the day you die, until the day that the will to receive dies, you're not allowed to believe in it, and you always need to relate to it as if it is un-scrutinized yet and there is nothing you can do there is nothing to do. On the other hand, if they cannot use the force of overcoming that they have, and ask for more powerful force to overcome, they can’t and then they surrender and when they surrender, they are angry at themselves, and truly rise against like little children that purposely want to do, and these forces are evoked in them, which want to harm others in order to prove that they are right. This is all understood to us out of our many hundreds of years of experience where the Kabbalists were on the path with all kinds of disturbances and problems.

S. And can we learn from this phenomena how to cleave to the ten more?

R. Yes yes, that's why we're giving this study, as only through our adhesion between us and the ten and the Creator, we can advance. Yes and not think about them they are doing their work, the Creator is awakening them on the side of the force of evil, and we need against that the force of good, to strengthen ourselves and continue onwards, they are helping us with that, it's not that we need to be thanking them, but actually it is help, the Creator this way awakens us to repentance.

30. S. (01:22:48) Beyond our desire to connect and subjugate and to pray to the Creator, is there something else we need to do, a certain way of making the Creator a partner in the initial step to become this perfect ten?

R. No, we don't define these forms we have with the Kabbalists tell us to do, and in that we advanced day after day, in our connection in the groups, convention to convention, one state to another, and besides that, just like right now, all kinds of such relationships are falling upon us from our haters that the Creator sends us, and we need some battle against them only through the connection between us. You have nothing we can do, but only connection between us is the actual, most powerful force we can activate and it is certain that it will drive us from there. To open ourselves and trust in the Creator and with these two forms of adhesion between us and the Creator, we will triumph over all the Kilpot.

31. S. (01:24:36) We are learning and even today you said that before we connect, in each one there should be two opposites, the evil inclination, and a bit of the good inclination, apoint in the heart, Is that the rule, that's the way it should be?

R. By us connecting, we want to connect the good inclination in each and every one so it will all together be more powerful than the evil inclination. And this is how we connect to make the correct step forward.

S. My question is even before the connection, should there also be a good inclination for the person, with the evil one, is that a condition to connect?

R. Yes, in each and everyone of us we have this and that.

S. The moment, suppose we connect in the ten, when we are successful there is this process of incorporation, each one is only one Sefira, only one sound, or different states between them connect all the sounds?

R. That you will have to scrutinize on your own.

32. S. How to put this principle of living in one thing and its opposite into life? What is the practical principle?

R. To constantly think that the Creator created the evil inclination even though his nature is opposite of that and therefore these two opposite roots appear in us, and this is how they connect in us, and this is how they appear in us, and we need to constantly be in them, both in the evil inclination and the good inclination.

33. S. If this is so, how do we develop that inner force above the events that you feel that are very unpleasant?

R. We constantly try to connect these events to one force, to one upper force which is actually the Creator.

34. S. (01:30:15) What comes first, the bitter or the sweet, hatred or separation or love of adhesion?

R. First comes the necessity to connect with friends, and then from that the necessity to connect with the Creator.

35. S. (01:30:39) If we don't see the true value of the disturbances, hatred, envy and honor etcetera, does it mean we don't understand the goal we are aspiring to?

R. It could be so, all these questions are good but they demand a lot of clarification. I hope that we will move now to the second half of the lesson and scrutinize these questions later.
