Daily Morning Lesson: July 19, 2025

Part 1: Recorded lesson - Oct 22, 2021. Baal HaSulam, Shamati 31. Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People

Reader: Dear friends, for the first part of the lesson, we will watch a recorded lesson from October 22nd, 2021, on Baal HaSulam, Shamati 31, “Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People.”

Reading: (00:58)  Shamati 31, Baal HaSulam - Anyone Who Pleases the Spirit of the People

I heard

Anyone who pleases the spirit of the people. He asked, “But we have found that the greatest and most renowned were in disagreement. Thus, the spirit of the people is not pleased with him.”

He answered that they did not say “all the people,” but “the spirit of the people.” This means that only the bodies are disputed, meaning that each one is working with the will to receive.

However, “the spirit of the people” is already spirituality, and “pleases”—that the righteous who extends the abundance, extends for the whole generation. Only because they have not yet clothed their spirit, they cannot attain and feel the abundance that the righteous extended.

M. Laitman: Okay, I will read again and maybe ask. Listen.

M. Laitman Reading: It’s written that anyone who pleases the spirit of the people, Baal HaSulam said he asked, but we have found that the greatest and most renowned ones, the great Kabbalists were in disagreement. Because they didn’t agree with one another, and they were really in some disagreement with one another. That’s how it is with the words of wisdom, we always have this, different opinions. Thus, the spirit of the people is not pleased with him. Meaning, they cannot rise to a state in which they agree. So they answered Baal HaSulam that they did not say all the people but only the spirit of the people. What is only the spirit of the people? This means that only the bodies were in dispute. What are the bodies are disputed? Meaning that each one is working with the will to receive. Whereas the spirit of the people, not the bodies but the spirit; not in the will to receive but in desire to bestow, is already spirituality, the spirit of the people - and pleases. Why? That the righteous who extends the abundance, extends for the whole generation. He’s not thinking about himself, only he clothes all the vessels of the generation and extends it for them. He doesn’t turn to the Creator that he needs something. He addresses the Creator only where he wants to transfer the force of correction and fulfilment for everyone. Just like Galgalta ve Eynaim and AHP, where the Galgalta ve Eynaim connect to the Keter and receive from it for the AHP. Otherwise, there would be no address because they have already corrected themselves to the extent in which they only have vessels of bestowal. And  the vessels of reception are with the AHP, and that is how they use it. So he says, and only because they have not yet clothed their spirit, they cannot attain and feel the abundance that the righteous extended. Therefore, the AHP can feel that he’s receiving from the righteous only to the extent in which he is drawn, to the extent in which he ascribes himself to the righteous, and only that way. Therefore, the spirit of the people to be in there can only be to the extent in which one can associate himself with the vessels of bestowal and then to that extent, through the vessels of bestowal, he receives correction and fulfilment.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (05:27) I don’t understand what it means that the bodies are disputed.

M. Laitman: The will to receive.

Student: What’s divided…what’s disputed and what’s not disputed?

M. Laitman: The dispute is between the desires to receive without a Masach, without a screen or covering. So, we have either being in indifference towards you, and there is no connection between us, but to the extent in which there’s some connection between us, corporeal, then we’re in dispute, can’t be any other way. Let's say you and I live in adjacent apartments in the same building. Certainly between us, there's going to be some kind of a criticism for each one of us on the other. Can’t be any other way. Maybe we'll calm ourselves from time to time, but there will always be some form of claim in our hearts one towards the other. We may forget about it, that’s different, but actually the desire to receive cannot be in a good connection to one another, ever. Not in family, not between families, between friends, in any place. If we look correctly, meaning we want to arrange things between us, then we need to awaken, evoke the dispute, meaning to open up what we have in the heart of each and every one. But to open it wisely, delicately, according to the degree that we’re in, one degree at a time, and then gradually correct ourselves, rise to another degree and correct ourselves. But if we open up all the disputes between us, that’s…we will kill each other. We won’t even divorce or distance we will simply kill each other. That’s why we need to gradually take care of this. So that’s in the bodies. We always have dispute, there cannot be that we don’t because each and every body, each and every desire is in a different place of the system of Adam HaRishon. Hence it is certain that it doesn’t belong to one another. And the fact that we are in groups, in Tens, between us, connected all of a sudden, that’s from above under the upper providence. That’s how Rabash explained this to me. That we are brought to being together, to the teacher and to the group, to the Ten, and eventually we must strengthen the connections between us. If throughout the process that I go through I suddenly lose friends, receive new friends, lose the Rav, advance without him, all those things are direct providence and truly being cared for from above. I need to accept this and to continue in the same direction, in connection. And in these connetions we will always reveal the disputes and that it’s inconvenient to us, between us, etc. And we will learn how to arrange things. To arrange how? In rising from the bodies to the spirit, from bodies to the spirit, from bodies to the spirit.

Student: So the dispute will never be cancelled, thre will always be dispute, division? We’ll have to rise above it?

M. Laitman: Until the end of correction because the disputes before the end of correction are the wars of the Messiah, that’s where every person wants to kill each other. That’s advancement, what can you do?

Student: There are moments when I’m with the Ten and we’re happy. Now I don't feel disputes with anybody. We’re happy, we’re sitting, we feel connected. I don’t know if it’s connection but we’re not disputed anyhow.

M. Laitman: So here comes the question. Either you on purpose are entering into such a state and are afraid to disclose to one another this dispute, to not fight, and to keep some nice mood and good spirit, or you’re not really paying attention to one another and you don't care what’s happening to one another; as long as you can continue the external system, what we call the framework. That’s the problem.

Student: I have criticism but why do I need to awaken division, it will just cause conflict?

M. Laitman: In order to correct, in order to rise above the dispute we need...Look what he writes in the article. And he asked - but we have found the spirit of people, the spirit is above the dispute. And Baal HaSulam answered, he found that the righteous, the most famous of them were in a dispute, who had dispute. How could it be that it’s the spirit of the people is not…how could it be that they were in good state between one another if they were in dispute and quarreling with one another, disagreeing with one another? So he says that they didn’t say all the people, but only the spirit of the people. This means that only the bodies, meaning the desires to receive are in dispute. This means that each one is working with the will to receive, whereas the spirit of the people is already spirituality, in order to bestow. And it pleases that the righteous who extends the abundance, extends for the whole generation. And then he uses the whole dispute that he has on the on the level between the desires, to the extent in which they are in states of disagreement with one another, specifically he uses it as the Aviut of the degree. And by going above it he uses it as the purity or the refinement of it. There’s a Reshimo of Aviut and a Reshimo of Hitlabshut, of coarseness and of clothing. We say Hitlabshut or  clothing, but it’s really a refinement. Because through these two we come to the clothing of the light within the record, the Reshimo, the spiritual record. Only that they have yet to clothe their spirit and cannot attain yet the feeling of abundance that the righteous extended. So he divides each of us to a righteous and a wicked, one that’s in dispute and one that’s above the dispute. And from all those things we connect to the Creator.

Student: In the Ten, I’m afraid if I awaken some dispute, if I criticize some friend, it’s as if I let out a dog, I can’t go back.

M. Laitman: I agree with you, you also see how I relate to everyone. Do I yell at someone here, especially? There are those that I can open a little bit, I can kind of give him a little sting, but that’s a few people who are actually close to me; or that I feel that it’s worthwhile to do that on the spot because it’s going to be a quick healing.

Student: So how do you awaken division? So you don’t awaken division, you’re saying it’s better to…

M. Laitman: I'm not allowed to evoke disputes, but in place of the friend I would evoke the dispute and usually they wouldn’t like it, to the extent in which they would truly display hatred towards me. And yes, we need to know how to do it. I now understand that I didn’t always do it in the right way.

Student: How do we awaken division correctly?

M. Laitman: With have to do it with the proper preparation. We need to really understand this short article. It is really…it’s written, anyone who pleases the spirit of the people. And Baal HaSulam asked, but we have found that the greatest and most renowned - greatest meaning the great ones, those that are in bestowal, those in Lishma, that they were in disagreement. If so, the spirit of the people is not pleased with him. So why is it written that the spirit of the people is pleased? So what’s the question,  how could it be? And he answered, that they did not say all the people all together, but  only the spirit of the people is pleased with him. Meaning that only the bodies are in dispute, the desires to receive. But above the will to receive they are connecting between them even more powerfully. And they feel themselves in a state of pleasantness, of comfort despite the fact that their will to receive is in dispute and they don’t agree with one another. They evoke this dispute on purpose so they will have - love covers all crimes. You can’t reach love if you do not evoke the crime. And the crime is not from you, it’s from the system of Adam HaRishon, from the shattering. If we, do it with the right intention, with the right approach, then we see you cannot have a minus without the plus. It cannot be. And only to the extent in which you have a greater dispute, you have greater love. And to not evoke dispute is called to not increase, intensify the love, not make love more felt, more understood; not to make it in degrees of intellectual and emotional understanding, in a connection with the Creator that includes it all. In Him there's no differentiation between good and evil, in Him, it is all good. Also we, when we try to connect between the evil and the good, only by that we advance to the Creator. We cannot say that only bestowal - there’s no bestowal without reception. It doesn’t exist in us that way. The force of bestowal alone is the Creator, we don’t understand what the force of bestowal alone is. Therefore without awakening the negative, come to the positive? It doesn't exist.

Student: What’s the precondition to awaken division, to open up a wound?

M. Laitman: We are certain that we have the ability, the tools to understand where we’re moving first of all, the importance of the goal. That’s the thing now. I don't care - all the states that we’re going to discover now between us, but rather we’re putting our signature, we need to make an agreement and sign - that all that we will open now in the relations between us is absolutely only in order to come closer to the Creator in the connection between us, and to discover the Creator with intensified clarity. In it, it includes the good and the bad, just like in a Partzuf. Just like in a Partzuf where the greater the coarseness, the greater the refinement, and then we receive a greater light in the Partzuf. If we in such a way approach this matter gradually, not to start opening up everything, but slowly, slowly, and we understand that we are playing with the field that the Creator has blessed - the Creator prepared this for us. Therefore there’s nothing here that I hate you or I love you or this way or that way. We are going in a manner in which we are discerning, scrutinizing nature. We want to discover nature which is the Creator, God, whose numerical value is nature. So each opens himself to a certain extent, in a way that a wise man, his eyes are in his head. Meaning he sees in advance whether we can with this revelation, remain in that connection between us or correct what we He opens before us, between us. This is how we advance. So each and every one, to the extent in which one opens more in one's awareness and understanding, the crimes between us, He causes us to close these crimes together in such a way that we don’t remember them as a bad thing. Rather, we rise above them and love covers all crimes, more and more and more, from one degree to another. This is an art and we will have to learn how to do that and all humanity will have to follow us. It doesn’t matter when it happens, not yet in our generation, but we have to prepare this path for them, for everyone. Okay, I see that now, people are interested in how they can get into fights.

Question (Baltia 1): (21:13) How can we check that someone even has the right to awaken a state in the Ten in order to bring a certain scrutiny, because we're confused each one towards himself.

M. Laitman: This is something that you need to agree between yourselves. You need to agree on this between yourselves, otherwise I can’t come up with something for you here. You have to discuss this and see in what way are we moving forward, discovering the good and discovering the bad, or more accurately discovering the bad in order to discover the good. Try it once or twice but in a very, very, very cautious manner, so there won’t be a negative impression and hurting the ego, but only to the extent that you can rise above the ego, that you can somehow transcend it. In that area, that layer you can reveal the evil and then you can advance. You need to start somewhere and see, but be cautious that you won’t weaken your connection. That how we understand each other better, feel each other better, both in the negative force and in the positive force - it needs to be like a sandwich, the negative and the positive above it, love covers all crimes. And then the more crimes you discover the more love needs to be discovered. Discover, meaning to be forcefully achieved. Otherwise, we're just continuing the shattering between us. Not only we’re egoistic, we’re are going to also find more hatred between us. So that’s why it says about the students of Rabbi Shimon in the Zohar, that they wanted to kill each other in the beginning of their study and then they worked above the hatred they revealed until they achieved unity and love. And that’s how they wrote the book of Zohar. They discovered both bad and good and that’s what they wrote about. It’s the rungs of the ladder, that is what the Zohar is about, all the 125 degrees are written there.

Question (Turkey 4): (24:12) In the article it says righteous who extend the abundance for the generation. So how can I exit from personal concerns that I have and start concerning for the generation to extend this abundance?

M. Laitman: You will just get incorporated with that. You don’t understand in what ways I sometimes start a lesson or how I saw Rabash get up from bed. I told you about how he would forcefully lift himself until he would somehow get out of bed and wash himself and then come to study. It was not because he was old, no. I don't think you necessarily wake up in an easier way than him. We need to understand how we awaken towards bestowal, holiness, by gradual actions. First of all however, it’s physical actions. We come, we drink some coffee, then we begin to hear something, a song at first, like we do, like what we do. Then bit by bit we start getting in, and you don’t understand how it is difficult for me too, to get into the lessons. Sometimes I'm completely just dumb, just blocked, and then gradually we go into connection. And in truth, I receive the awakening from you, when you all start asking and I awaken from you, it wakes me up. And you also need to be awakened by the friends, each one from the others.

Question (ITA 1): (26:43) Until now we felt the division awakens when we go towards connection and we will never awaken the left line. What changes today, something grew?

M. Laitman: No. Start awakening - that you can do it in a corporeal way and talk about it bit by bit, meaning in small portions. Awakening the dispute and overcoming it. How do we cover it? And try to cover it in such a way that we no longer need to feel the dispute and then again, some other dispute between us, a corporeal one. And then we cover it and that’s in corporeality. Later we see how we will do it on higher levels, we will have some experience.

Question (Bishkek): (28:03) How on one way, a gradual way, on the second hand it’s very urgent, you shared with your words in the beginning of the lesson. We see that in the winter things can take a gear up, so we have a dilemma. How much is it worth it to come into connection, in dissemination? Can it maybe diminish the arguments between us, that we have to hasten the times? How should we look at this, or should we just go gradually?

M. Laitman: I can’t answer your questions because it all depends on the conditions you have. I can’t answer, give an answer to everyone that will be equal to everyone. I think that you need to think to what extent you reveal the evil, that through making efforts afterwards you’ll be able to cover it with good. Love covers all crimes, and measure if you can, to what extent you had a connection before between you and to what extent now is your level of connection after you discovered the depths of the ego between you,  and how much you rose above it. So all together what intensity of connection did you achieve?

Question (Moscow 7): (30:12) We went through some question in the Ten, got 10 different opinions that could be opposite from one another, and now what does it mean  that we have to rise above the differences? We have to reach one opinion or turn to the Creator, that He changes something? Meaning in the end, after we overcome this, does my previous reason remain or do I get a new one?

M. Laitman: We have to reach a single desire as much as we can identify that it’s a single desire. A single understanding, intention, thought as much as possible. This means that love covers all crimes. In love we are in adhesion, there we don’t differentiate between all those differences in mind and heart, everything is just immersed in love. But in the dispute before that, we open up as much as we can reveal in order to rise above the dispute, we maintain that. Not too much though. It’s like we’re all, we all live in families. So we know that in the family, we always maintain a certain level to not get into too big of a dispute in order to keep our life working, otherwise we can shatter this whole connection called a family. So similarly, bit by bit by bit, we come to scrutinize the good and bad and good and bad in each and every state.

Question (Tel Aviv 4): (32:27) I understand according to the last article that all the lies and arguments, contradictions are in the will to receive. I also understand that the Ten has to be like a womb, where we only reveal love and bestowal. So why do I see that when I fall, I don’t have Arvut and why if I want to say words of inspiration and nice things to the friends, they disregard it, and I feel that there’s friends that hate me. They are even indifferent towards it. Why do I see that in the Ten if it is a source of bestowal?

M. Laitman: You all still havn’t achieved connection between you. And then, still, you should try to also understand that one judges through his own flaws. You don’t know the friends' hearts. But if a friend arrived in the Ten, I need to accept him as sent by the Creator. Then I have to relate to him in a very unique way, as opposed to any other person off the street that I relate to. I have to see him as a part of my soul, not his  body, not his corporeal nature, but deep within him there’s what we call the point in the heart, and with that point I have to unite, connect. And so it is with each and every friend. The more I feel that I’m inclined towards that, whether it’s by force or even by desire, then this is how I advance towards the goal.

Student: That’s exactly what I'm asking. That if that’s the goal, that we need to connect between the points in the hearts, why do I discover all these things?

M. Laitman: In order to overcome these things and achieve a truly higher goal,  understand? That’s what we need. It’s very good that you feel this. I think you could be very successful. Just accept all these things with an understanding that one who’s greater than his friend, his inclination is greater than himself. You don’t know what disturbances Kabbalists have to go through in order to really achieve the correction of their high soul. Don't forget that what you see is what the Creator lets you see. Don’t relate that to the friends. The world is hidden, it’s a concealment. And you need to try and work with the picture that the Creator awakens in you.

Student: So how in such a state, do I tell myself that I know it’s in me, so I don’t even start working before the friends? How do I awaken it?

M. Laitman: As if you close your eyes and activate as if you have love towards them, as though you love them and that’s what you show them.

Student: So how do you awaken the argument?

M. Laitman: To the extent you can overcome a dispute, then you awaken one.

Student: But the dispute is in me?

M. Laitman: Of course it’s in you, where do you want it to be, between you? But you feel, you feel it between you and others.
