267. The third chamber from which the Garden of Eden is nourished is the name Elokim [like El, it means God]. It is a red brightness, glittering like gold. Bright, for sometimes it shines and is good, and at times it darkens in darkness and it has no glittering like gold.
The second chamber is Hesed, the right line of ZA, the name El. The third chamber is Gevura, the left line of ZA, the name Elokim, the red color. When it shines in illumination of Hochma, it glitters like gold. However, all this pertains to when the left is unified with Hassadim in the right line, but if it is not incorporated with the right, the Hochma in it cannot shine and it is darkness and not light.
268. The name Elokim on the left side is the awakening to the Nukva, Malchut, since Malchut is built from the left side. That name is in the secret of secrets to those who know the Hochma. That name is male, Gevura of ZA, and the awakening in that name to the Nukva awakens everything, as it is written, “His left under my head.”
269. Were it not for the awakening of the name Elokim, the left line, the righteous, Yesod of ZA, would not awaken. Although that name is all judgment, and the righteous is from the right side, Hesed, the awakening of Yesod is only from the left side.
ZA is the right line, meaning it is ruled by Hassadim that are covered from Hochma, and the illumination of Hochma does not awaken in him, unless when in a coupling with Malchut, for then he bestows upon her the illumination of Hochma. Hence, when ZA sees Malchut, he awakens for unification with her in order to be completed in illumination of Hochma, as it is written, “Turn your eyes away from me, for they have overcome me,” for eyes are Hochma.
Although that name is all judgment, and the righteous is from the right side, Hesed, since Yesod of ZA, who is called “righteous,” is the right line, whose way is only in Hassadim that are covered from Hochma, so how was it said that were it not for the name Elokim, the righteous would not awaken to the Nukva? However, the awakening of Yesod is from the left side, since because ZA craves the completion of the left, he awakens for the unification with Malchut.
270. Adam left the left side incorporated in the right, God, and awakened in the waste of gold that emerges from the filth of its fusion, for by eating the tree of knowledge, the gold melted, namely the left that is incorporated in the right, and the left parted from the right, and then the left became waste of gold, which is good for nothing.
271. In the name Elokim, Aleph of Elokim is male, ZA. The letters Lamed-Hey-Yod-Mem of Elokim are the awakening of the righteous, Yesod of ZA. Lamed-Hey-Yod-Mem are the letters of Milah [Hebrew: circumcision], which are cutting and removal, without any side of foreskin whatsoever. This is when the name Elokim is mentioned favorably, as it is written, “And God remembered His covenant,” when the covenant, Yesod, awakened. It is also written, “And God will surely visit,” which is cutting and removal [two stages in the circumcision].
The name Elokim is sometimes mentioned favorably, and at times it grows dark. When the left is incorporated in the right through the middle line, it is good. If it is separated from the left line, it becomes dark and punishes the wicked.
Aleph of Elokim is male, since Aleph indicates the three lines, ZA, which are incorporated in one another. At that time, Yesod of ZA awakens in the cutting and in the removal, which removes the shells so they do not suckle from the left. The letters Lamed-Hey-Yod-Mem of Elokim are the awakening of the righteous, Yesod of ZA. Lamed-Hey-Yod-Mem are the letters of circumcision, which are cutting and removal, without any side of the foreskin whatsoever, when there is no suckling from it to the shell called “foreskin,” which suckles from Yesod. Wherever the name Elokim is mentioned favorably, it is in that order.
272. When it is not incorporated in the right, the Torah testifies to its judgments, since from there comes the foreskin. At times, the Nukva inherits the name Elokim in order to sentence the world to foreskin through the shells called “foreskin.” This is so when that name Elokim grows strong above in judgments, when it is the Nukva, and the foreskin has difficulty sentencing the world, and the removal, which is the revealing of the Mochin, is not present.
Circumcision is removal of the shell called “foreskin,” and the removal is the revealing of the Mochin of Yod-Hey, the letters Yod-Hey [the Lord] removed.
273. For this reason, Elokim for the better is through removal, since the foreskin has been removed and passed away, and the holy covenant has been revealed, the Mochin of Yod-Hey. It is all in the name Elokim since the color of the name Elokim changes: At times, it is this, and at times, it is that, in the name Elokim.
