TES:

Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 1. Part 1. Histaklut Pnimit [Inner Observation]. Chapter 10, #35 (“Know that the will to receive in the emanated being.")

34. R. We were speaking about the intentions, how to approach the study of TES to receive new vessels of connection, of love come up vessels of bestowing contentment to the Creator through the connection between us.

Item 35 “The entire substance that is attributed ....”

35. R. (01:19) That means that only the desire to receive belongs to the emanated being and all of the rest that can be revealed, in it around it all that except for the desire to receive comes from the emanator, also the desire to receive itself came from the emanator but the rest, except for the desire to receive comes only by the awakening of the emanated himself to receive the addition upon the desire to receive.

Repeats Item 35

Item 36 “The will to receive is the first form of any essence.” Twice

36. S. (08:11) One of the previous years that we studied TES you said 5% listen to the text and 95% pray is this still valid for now?

R. 5, or 6 ½%, we're speaking about as much as we need to be in contention according to the text itself as the text is important. We are learning about it as it settles on your mind and your memory but actually what do we need from here? We need the text to influence us internally to affect my qualities, my essence and from this I will start feeling the spiritual reality otherwise what will it give me if I fill my brain right now? As he says about the donkey carrying the silk.

37. S. (09:38) There are things that we can't understand with our intellect but we need to understand them in spirituality. I'm asking what is the first substance in its essence that I will begin to understand?

R. You stay here and you think until you understand what the essence means and we will move ahead.

S. What is the initial substance?

R. I can't explain it because it's beyond our perception.

S. What is the first substance?

R. The desire to receive.

S. What is this in spirituality or corporeality?

R. He is speaking about forces that are not felt, soon we will reach the interpretation of the meaning of the words and then you can read the definitions there.

38. S. (10:52) Did Baal HaSulam already know while he was writing this about the works of Niels Bohr on atoms?

R. That it goes against?

S. No, that it is very similar.

R. The fact that it is similar has nothing to do before or after whether he knew it or not as Baal HaSulam writes from his spiritual attainment the other wrote from seeing it in our five senses. It is a different approach but it all clothes one within the other.

39. S. (11:58) Question about the substance and essence Baal HaSulam wants to explain, certainly the

essence and the substance. But from our desire we learn and contain this matter, can we influence the development of the essence and substance from our study?

R. We need to study as we have heard many times, that we want to give contentment to the Creator, what is happening beyond that intention doesn't even matter as according to my intention to give contentment to the Creator all of reality will open before me of which I don't know but only in that way can it open up.

S. If so, will we have an entrance to the world of the Creator?

R. Only in that way.

40. S. (13:12) In this part that we are reading we finished the inner observation. What does Baal HaSulam want to give us in this whole part?

R. He is going to write a few definitions, we are going to be more acquainted with the wisdom of Kabbalah, what the substance is, what the essence is, what the Creator is, the created being and the connection between them in a very initial way. This is what the Baal HaSulam wants to tell us about. All of this study of the wisdom of Kabbalah is what we have learned and this is what he writes in the introduction to TES, this is in order to draw the light that reforms upon us as the main thing is the light gives us new senses next to the sense of bestowal. We will have a mind of bestowal that is connected to that sense and how to activate the force of bestow on our behalf. In this extra part here once it is stabilized within us, we will be able to understand what the spiritual world is and what the laws are and only in such a way.

41. S. (14:58) He writes here and I understand it all depends on our desire to receive and in the previous paragraph he spoke about something outside that is connected to the emanator. How do you obtain the Creator if it's something beyond?

R. We have nothing but the desire to receive but we will have in addition to it the intention to bestow that we can use that same desire to receive that is in us, not directly but after the restrictions screen and reflected light we use it in order to bestow. Then in such a way we begin to know the Creator and even though our vessels are opposite our desire to receive in my intention I resemble Him I receive Him, I feel Him and I learn Him.

S. It turns out we have the desire to receive and the opposite nature of the Creator and something in between?

R. It is the quality of the Creator in the created being, the desire to bestow of the Creator clothes in us and works in us as the intention to bestow of the created being.

42. S. (16:54) We can sometimes feel that we are 100% desire to receive and sometimes there is some form that is me and that I'm not the desire to receive, so what am I actually?

R. You are the desire to receive.

S. Feels like there's some something, some half a percent that I am something else, what is this?

R. You are mistaken, see, you are only the desire to receive, you don't have anything. Nothing, you are only the desire to receive.

43. S. (17:54) The desire to receive, correction: what do we attribute this to, substance or something else?

R. The desire to receive always remains as this is the created being in the foundation of the created being, it’s nature and it does not change itself. A created being has an ability to increase or decrease the desire to receive and use it with an intention not for itself but for the benefit of the Creator. This is what you have, by the fact that the created being uses its will to receive. If he receives a spiritual force from above then by this, he can use his desire to receive for the benefit of the others, what is this? We don't know, we feel a restriction on our desire to receive for ourselves and an ability to overcome it. Meaning to see the others as more important than me and in such a way to take into account their desire as the main part and my desire as serving in everything. Then according to that I can perform a restriction on my desire to receive for myself and activate my desire and everything I have for the benefit of the others.

S. The request for correction, what do we attribute that to?

R. The request for correction is a deficiency.

S. It is a deficiency that belongs to the desire to receive?

R. It is revealed in the desire to receive but it is in order to rise above the desire to receive. The request for connection works on the created being because in the created being there is a feeling of the others that we have to begin with. That is why we are called Adam even in a corporeal way that we have shame and envy, lust, and honor and by those tendencies we can overcome above our ego end start performing actions even better anti ego because envy, lust and honor that we feel can make up our something opposite, that we start using our ego as if we are already bestowing. We see this in people in this world there are such who do all kinds of actions as if in order to bestow, yet that everything is in the desire to receive but we still start feeling the others somehow and from that when we start feeling the others, we get a desire to be in order to bestow. The Creator starts shining with His light and we have from our creation we have Reshimot, impressions from the shattering and this is how we develop.

44. (22:17) Item 1 What is Light?

R. Everything in the world that exists as existence from existence is everything but the substance of the vessels. Meaning that everything that is received in the desire to receive is called light, so all of creation includes only two things, the lights and the vessel.

(24:09) Item 2 What are light and vessels?

R. The desire to receive in the emanated being is called vessel and the abundance that he receives is called light.

(24:23) Item 3 What is circular light? Circular light is a light that makes no discernment of degrees.

R. You see the definitions that can be special that he doesn't discern between the different degrees this is why it is called circular because the light is a force that works.

.

(24:56) Item 4 What is simple light? Simple light is a light that contains within it the vessel to the point that the light and the vessel are indistinguishable.

R. The light that includes the vessel within it and then from here come out the lights and the vessels which is why he writes that simple light filled all of reality meaning that the simple light that filled all of reality is where we have all of the light and vessel that are revealed in all of the world.

(25:53) Item 5 What is the light of Hochma? The light is the light that extended to the community being in the first expansion.

R. Meaning the light that extends from the Creator, from the emanator to be created being, to the emanated and it includes everything in it this is called the life of Hochma.

(26:20) Item 6 What is the light of Hassadim? Light of Hassadim is the light that closes the light Hochma and extends to the emanated being at the first intensification.

R. Meaning after the emanated being discovers himself and what he receives from the Creator then he can make a response upon it, that response can be instinctive, not from his own desire but from his nature that the Creator created and then instead of what he felt that he got from the Creator he also feels the way he participates with what he receives from the Creator. He received the desire to receive from the Creator and also the fulfillment and now he feels that he has a response on what he received, a vessel and a light and this response is called the light of Hassadim. So, what is the light of Hassadim.

(27:38) Item 7 What is empty air? Empty air has to light up Hassadim before it is closed in the light Hochma.

R. It is light inside that doesn't have any fulfillment which is called empty air.

(28:11) Item 8 What is afterwards? That would stem from its previous phase see item 20.

45. S. (28:35) The light of Hochma is the light that fills all of reality?

R. I think when we come to 18, he writes about the light of Hochma.

S. How to relate to these definitions?

R. We need to know them a bit as much as you can understand or depict it for yourself right now is enough, afterwards it will come, we don't have to remember everything by heart.

(29:35) Item 10 What is one? The upper light that extends from Ein Sof is one and it is simple as himself as it is in Ein Sof so it is in the world of Assiya without any change or addition to form whatsoever and that is why it is called one.

(30:40) Item 11 What is Creator? The name Creator relates only to the actual innovation, meaning the existence from absence, which is the substance of the vessels, defined as the desire to receive in every essence. It was necessarily absent from himself prior to Creation.

R. The Creator is a force, state, action that is in creation relative to the created beings, it is not that the Creator we use such words that include it all but in truth the Creator is Boreh, “Come and See”, something to words the Creator that is a change from the darkness. All of those things are defined very precisely.

(32:25) Item 12 What is adhesion? It is equivalence of form that brings spirituals together, attaching them to one another while disparity of form separates them from one another.

(32:38) Item 13 What is equivalence? Where there is no discernment whatsoever among the four phases of the desire to receive it says that they are even and equal.

R. Okay I think we can stop here with this and let us try to go over this alone, between you during the day as you meet. Let us go more to the answers to the matters.

(33:38) Item 55 What are the terms that are absent in the wisdom of Kabbalah? From the beginning to the end of the wisdom there is not even a single word that relates to any tangible or imaginary term such as space, time, motion and so on. There is no absence in spirituality and change in form does not mean the first form is absent. The first form remains in its place unchanged and the disparity of form that had been acquired is added to the first form.

R. Each time we have the initial state with the initial form and upon it more forms are added to it.

(36:03) Item 56 What is the ordinary language in the wisdom of Kabbalah? This language is a language of branches that points to the upper roots, that is because you haven't even a single blade of grass below that does not have a root above. Therefore, the stages of Kabbalah have put them together as a language that is equipped to imply through the branches and teach the upper roots.

(37:26) Item 57 What separates and discriminates in the wisdom of Kabbalah? The disparity of form distinguishes and departs the spirituals from one another.

R. Only the inner quality of each and every one.

(37:52) Item 58 What is the origin of the desire to receive? The desire to bestow in the upper light necessitates the existence of the desire to receive in the emanated being.

R. This is how it comes to us from the Creator. The desire to bestow in the upper light necessitates the existence of the will to receive in the emanated being.

(38:30) Item 59 What makes the light exit the Emanator and become an emanated being? This emanated part starts being regarded as the Emanator and becomes an emanated being because of the form of the desire to receive that was innovated with the upper light since it wants to bestow.

S. It is not clear he says the desire to receive is activating the Emanator to become emanated.

R. As the emanated being, the emanated part stopped being an emanator because of the form of the will to receive with the upper light and wants to bestow.

S. It is clear what is first and what response?

R. What is the question?

S. The question is what makes the light exit the emanator and become the emanator thing?

R. It is as if the desire to receive suckles the light from the Creator connecting to the light and by connecting to the light builds a new reality where the desire to receive is together with the feeling.

S. This on the desire to receive?

R. Yes, because the Creator operates it to begin with in this way, it is a desire.

S. This happens in every state?

R. In every state it is something different.

(40:52) Item 60 What is the first substance of every emanated being? The new form that emerged existence from absence meaning the desire to receive that is in every essence is the first substance of every emanated being and every essence. Moreover, everything that exists in the emanated being or in the essence that is more than that substance is regarded as light and abundance and extends from the upper light as existence from existence. Not at all as an emanated being, a created being it is not surprising that a form becomes a substance because it is also in corporeality as well as our conduct is to regard the first form of the essence as the first substance. This is because there is no attainment whatsoever in matter of the entire reality since our senses perceive only incidences of matter are forms that incriminate and manifest in the first substance.

R. What we feel, our actions that are common between our senses and certain offenses that are maybe before us, maybe within us, maybe I don't know how as I only feel the result of what has happening.

46. S. (44:00) What are our senses?

R. Our senses are the desire that is willing to receive bestowal influence from outside and to show forth a response from itself.

S. The light is not there at all?

R. Of course there is light in all of reality, all of reality and it sustains reality and arranges our senses and our reactions within the senses. These are all the upper lights.

S. That is the question that only by the light our senses can interfere?

R. I don't understand which state you are speaking from.

S. He says that only the desire has, what does it have?

R. It is from the Creator, yes.

S. So senses are in the desire or a result of the desire drawing the light?

R. A sense is a result until the desire feels within it something it is not called sense.

47. S. (45:47) Trying to understand what you're saying about the way we study Kabbalah, said the Sages use the language of branches to learn about their spiritual roots. Baal HaSulam who did he write this for, those in attainment or the whole public?

R. He wrote this not for this or that, he wrote this for those who are interested to know what true reality wants.

S. Because I remember that Baal HaSulam came to Jerusalem and he saw the Yeshiva the way they were studying and he was angry at them.

R. I don't know, don’t ask me about private issues.

S. What is the true form of study that we have to study in?

R. This is what he writes about in the introduction to TES.

S. Only intentions?

R. Yes.

48. S. (47:05) He writes that there is no absence in spirituality and in 57 he writes that the disparity of form distances the spirituals from one another so how does this work out that there is an addition of a disparity form and he also distances from one another?

R. A differentiation in the quality of form one from the other distancing one from the other until it is disconnected and maybe even being opposite on the other.

S. The previous form remains along with it?

R. Yes, that is already not associated with us as the previous form always remains as there is no absence in spirituality.

49. S. (48:08) The point, existence from absence is the only point in reality?

R. Existence from absence is our desire.

S. All other forms are clothed on existence from absence?

R. Yes.

S. What is the transition from the reality Ein Sof to the reality of forms of bestowal clothed on existence from absence.

R. Until the upper bestows upon us and our desire to receive changes and takes on a new form.

50. S. (49:20) We only feel the result of what is actually happening? Is this how we come to feel what is actually happening?

R. What really happens we will only know at the end of correction if you're talking about the truth, because truth is the name of the Creator, we're all of the letters with all of the feelings and their combinations are revealed only at the end of correction. The word truth is very confusing, Emet, we cannot talk about the truth without any attainment until the end of correction, but we speak in such a way, but nevertheless it is proceeding something as the part of the truth.

51. S. (50:26) He writes that the emanated saying afterwards, it is a result of the previous discernment?

R. We will see how he reads it and how you speak about it.

S. Afterwards meaning the result of the previous discernment?

R. That there is a previous discernment that dictates the next phase and is obligated to take on the new form which is why it is called afterwards.

52. S. (51:34) In the end of correction the created being reveals the essence?

R. No, we don't attend the substance as much as I understand as this is all according to my understanding, I don't think we attained the essence ever because we always remain within our vessel, within our desire to receive even if it will be corrected and as much as it will be corrected in order to bestow it nevertheless it is from his imagination to be as a beast or we don't reach the substance or essence of the Creator. We remain the created things, corrected understanding and feeling the Creator, everything that He operates towards us, that is what we attain and no more than that. Him we don't know what He is, we just attain the light, He bestows and influences upon us and that is enough for us. Our desire to receive was created from that and the desire to receive doesn't feel itself as lacking anything just like Baal HaSulam says you're not missing a sixth finger on your hand. Other than the essence of the Creator, the actions we also don't know what the Creator is relative to some other thing, some other world. I only know what belongs to me, the others and something else I can't even grasp, I cannot attain. I can only just say it in some way but how or what this is I don't know. Maybe this will also be revealed later, we don't know. What happens beyond the 6ht, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th millennia who knows what happens as development can take place and be endless. We will see. We have come to the end of the lesson. We will see what to do with the questions and answers and how we will use it from here on, how you think and tomorrow we will continue. During the day I really think it is worthwhile but with the correct intention to go over the meanings of the words and also the topics. We can continue from there.

(54:55) Baal HaSulam writes in item 12 from the introduction to the Book of Zohar “The thought has no perception in the essence and even our own essence we don't know what it is because I feel and know that I take a place in the world and I am warm, still, I think and from knowing and learning about my essence but if you actually ask what my own essence is and all revelations come from this I don't know what to answer you. The providence prevented us from obtaining any essence and we only attain the revelations and the resemblance of actions that are revealed from the essence.”

53. S. (56:06) Is my essence only the will to receive and if so where is None Else Besides Him?

R. Outside of you see, you are the desire to receive what you could say the eye is the desire to receive that the Creator created in you and besides the desire to receive there is another desire to bestow, the Creator towards you. Then we learn how we can know from our desire to receive something that exists outside of it, the desire to bestow which is the Creator. This is the whole wisdom of Kabbalah, how we can digest, receive within the desire to receive the feeling and the essence of the Creator. That is, it, but in that we can obtain everything there's nothing beyond that according to how we are built.
