Part 1: Recorded lesson - Sep 6, 2020

Excerpts from the sources: “Work with Faith Above Reason”. #28

Reader: Hello friends, in the first part of the lesson, we are going to learn from a lesson dated September 6, 2020, on the topic of the “Work with Faith Above Reason.” We're going to continue with excerpt number 28.

Reader: Hello, we're in a lesson about faith above reason. We'll read excerpts from the sources, we'll continue with excerpt number 28. You can find it on our website and ask questions there. Selected questions will be answered in the lesson.

M. Laitman: (00:43) Yes, we're continuing to enter the spiritual work, which is the work in faith about reason. Each time the upper light shines on us, and it shines to us more and more within reason. Within reason means that the “judge only has what his eyes can see,” because we see reality, and this is called our reason. It's inside of the ego, and in the development of each and every person, this is what he determines. And along with that, we also need to be in faith that we are in wholeness, in wholeness with ourselves, in wholeness with the Creator, in wholeness with the world. And here we have a day and a night and all kinds of different states. We have a projection from them also in corporeality. Let's say, day and night, and different times of the day, and all kinds of things, and we meet all the people of the world. And we have to determine what is the relative form, what is the true form, how it should be in our relation, in how we determine our situation with them. And to realize that the spiritual process is on the one hand related to time, we get guidance from God, and it happens sequentially, one after the other. On the other hand, it's not so related to time, because as much as we will determine to ourselves that all of the states we're going through, how much they all come only in order for us to determine through them an equal, uniform attitude to them, that it all comes from above, and it is all the Good who does good, and it all comes from a single providence, single management, from a single supervisor. And accordingly, also our situations with respect to that, that all of the darkness of the night and the light, the day, in all kinds of different manners, in all kinds of different forms and shapes, they should not change for us our attitude, that the darkness should shine as light. And this is how we will advance and relate to the upper source from which emerged to us all of these discernments of the darkness and the discernments of the day, that this is how we will relate to the Creator. So let's see next, let's advance. So where are we?

Reader: Excerpt number 28, in the chosen excerpts about work in faith above reason. Excerpt number 28 is an article by Rabash, “What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?”

Reading: (04:07) 28. Rabash. Article 7 (1990), “What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?” - Twice

A person must believe above reason that he is in wholeness, and so is the whole world.

It follows that in this way he can and should thank the Creator for giving us abundance. This is called the “right line,” which is the complete opposite of the left line. That is, in the left line, we walk within reason, as was said, that “A judge has only what his eyes see.” In other words, it is specifically with the intellect and not above the intellect. But when shifting to work with the “right,” the left is the cause that the right is built on the basis of above reason.

This is as our sages said, “The left pushes away and the right pulls near.” In other words, the state of “left” shows a person how he is rejected and separated from the work of the Creator. “The right pulls near” means that it shows him that he is close to the work of the Creator. This means that when he engages in the left, the left should bring him to see a state of rejection, that he is rejected and separated from the work. When he engages in the right, he should come to a state where he sees that he is close to the Creator. He should thank the Creator for the “right,” and pray to the Creator for the “left,”

Reader: We'll read it again. Excerpt number 28 by Rabash. What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?

M. Laitman: (08:15) The question. When I read what it says here, I remember yesterday. And maybe I spent a few minutes during the day, in the morning or in the evening, with all kinds of scrutiny or questions. Is this the right? Is this the left? Is this above reason? Is it within reason? A few minutes. And all the rest, I was, I don't know, like I was a place in the air, truly. How to make it so that I will constantly be either on the right or on the left, or in the connection between them, scrutinizing what is my situation, how to do that. Wholeness means that it doesn't matter to me if I'm on the right or on the left, that for me, it is the same. The most important is that I am in a state where I'm blessing the Creator.

How, throughout the day, will I constantly be on the right, on the left, on the right, on the left? There is no right without a left. This is why I have to be on the left as well. And then, very quickly, as much as possible, shift to the right. And accordingly, how do I make it so that I will be thrown back to the left? And I, through my efforts, will again shift to the right. How will we do it so that we will be working at the speed of time, tick-tock, tick-tock, all the time? And this way we will advance? Talk about it between you, please. How, throughout the day, will we catch ourselves as being either on the right or on the left? Because if we're not in this or in that, it's a sign that we're not progressing. Go ahead.

Focus Group workshop (not included).

Reader: Excerpt number 28, I'm reading again. Rabash, What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?

Reading: (14:28) 28. Rabash. Article 7 (1990), “What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?”

A person must believe above reason that he is in wholeness, and so is the whole world.

It follows that in this way he can and should thank the Creator for giving us abundance.

M. Laitman: This should be our permanent state, to depict that the whole world is in wholeness, and we are grateful to the Creator since it all comes from Him.

This is called the “right line,” which is the complete opposite of the left line. That is, in the left line, we walk within reason, as was said, that “A judge has only what his eyes see.” In other words, it is specifically with the intellect and not above the intellect.

M. Laitman: That is, in our emotions, in our ascending, in our mind and heart, but when we look at the world, this is called the left. The fact that we get everything, a hundred percent, as it is, as it seems in the eyes of the Creator, this is called the right.

Reading: (15:43) 28. Rabash. Article 7 (1990), “What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?”

When he engages in the right, he should come to a state where he sees that he is close to the Creator. He should thank the Creator for the “right,” and pray to the Creator for the “left,”

M. Laitman: Any questions? So, a few minutes between you, speak in each Ten, and later ask a question out of the Ten, not from a single individual. Go ahead, please. So, for a few minutes, scrutinize, what is it that we, each Ten, want to ask? Go ahead.

Focus Group: (17:36) How can a Ten help each one to hold on to the right? To hold on to the right during the day, and to look at reality the way the Creator is looking at it?

M. Laitman: Bring each and every friend back to the right. This is actually the work of the group. How do we do it? Right? Great. So, now we will try to answer this. So, please, everyone should think about this. How do we help the group to always be on the right? But, always on the right means that we constantly renew the right. Otherwise, it disappears. In spirituality, it cannot be that something exists without renewal. Spirituality exists at infinite frequency.

So, how do we help the group, or establish in the group more correctly, a state where we are constantly in the right, and we have no connection between us for the time being, maybe only two times a day, maybe for half an hour, or as much as it is. So, how do we establish the group on the right always? How do we relate? How do we think? How do we speak? And what do we speak about? Go ahead.

Focus Group workshop (not included).

M. Laitman: Yes, this is true. However, how do I hold the whole group on the right, not just myself? How do I want the group, I can't always speak with them and hold them, each and every one of us is in a different state. And these changes of states is something that we do not determine, rather it is the upper providence in order to advance us constantly. One is up, one is down, one is up, one is down, etc. So, how do I influence the group, bestow to the group, so it will constantly be on the right? Please, go ahead.

Focus Group workshop (not included).

Question (New York 1): (23:58) It says that the prayer is the left line. It turns out that if we try to raise a prayer, so are we awakening the left line?

M. Laitman: No, well, in that too, you have the left and the right, either you ask or you're in gratitude. This way and that way.

Question (Volga): (24:30) You said that a person can be in the right line, or in the left line and he also can be disconnected.Let's say, I disconnected, the hours have passed, and now I remember the work again. So, our question in the Ten is, what happens between these two points?

M. Laitman: If you're not on the right or on the left, then you're dead. You are dead. And then from above, they do a calculation with you, when to revive you, and it also depends on the group, and how it all works, and how it also puts you to work. But you, in that, are really as dead.

Question (ITA 4): (25:29) Is there a left line or a right line outside of the Ten?

M. Laitman: You can't really say, you can talk about a single person, but it's not practical. It's easy to describe it this way, about a single individual, that one time he relates from the side of his ego, and the other time he overcomes, and he relates from the side of his force of bestowal. But really, it is from the Ten. The right and the left are from the Ten.

Question (Piter 3): (26:17) When you're on the left line, you also give contentment to the Creator. Where to take the strength to come out of the left line, where I don't want to be on the left side?

M. Laitman: The fact that we're on the right, and we also give gratitude to the Creator for elevating our egoistic will to receive, so we fall. As it says, a person should be thankful for the bad as for the good. Of course, it is true, but that's not the work. This means that I received some material to work with. Now I need to work, now I need to overcome, to perform actions of coming closer to the group, to bring to the group my intensified will to receive, to start to work with them, and through them, to advance everyone through them, and through my will to receive.

The group is the right, and the will to receive that I now receive from above is the left. And then I combine them together, we and the group, we take a step forward. This is how it is with each and every one. At the same time, at the same state, we're constantly advancing. It's like we have such cars that have four wheels that are constantly moving, engaging, meaning that the engine, the motor, is connected to all four wheels, four-wheel drive, not just connected to the two wheels on the back or the one in the front, but to all of them.

So this is how we want to do it in the Ten. So everyone is working, and we're not waiting for anyone else to finish the work, and then we will start. And therefore, each one discovers in that he also has ten Sefirot from everyone, and this is how we work. And this is wonderful work. If we start to feel it, then it is truly a place for advancement.

Question (Latin 6): (28:41) How can we identify in the best possible way if we are on the right side in a prayer, and not to confuse it with a state where I'm only curious or inactive?

M. Laitman: Start to work. Start to work, and you see that it is impossible to be confused about it. It's impossible to be confused. These things are so clear. Either I'm immersed in my will to receive, and I see the world through my will to receive, that it is entirely negative, on the left. Or I try with the group and with the Creator to ascribe everything to progress, I justify the situation to start with, that we are advancing through it. That specifically this way it is possible to advance, that when I shift all the left to the right, this is how we advance. When do we reach the perfection, the wholeness of the work? In each and every stage– when the left and the right are equal for me. And I need to be grateful for the bad as for the good, and that darkness will shine as light. And this way, each time we advance towards this state.

Student: How should we relate in the workshop when I speak in the Ten sits quietly? I need to accept that as value, as the right side. But how to add to it?

M. Laitman: If you get forces from the Ten by adhering to them, and then when you adhere to the Ten you get forces with which to work with your left. Not just in order for you to feel better and calm, but rather in order to work with your left state so that you can take your ego, your will to receive, your criticism and now you can add it to what you receive from them - the strength, the awakening. And then you advance both of them inside of your adhesion with the group. This is the right action. And then for you, the right and the left are equal. This is important, and that is important. You connect the two of them, and this is considered that you've taken a step forward.

Question (New York 2): (31:11) How can we hold everyone together above reason in the Ten?

M. Laitman: I see from all of the states that I'm going through that I have to relate to them as to greater ones that are in the end of correction. It just works out this way for me. Over each and every bad that I have, I go to them, I ask from them for forces. Even without any words, I adhere to them, I get forces from them. With these forces, I balance my attitude to my left, and this is the correction. You understand? This is how it happens.

Question (French ): (32:17) It's written that the left is a prayer and the right is gratitude. A prayer is an efficiency. What is gratitude? How should gratitude be expressed in the Ten?

M. Laitman: They reached the state where the left and the right are equal, connected. In that, I see progress. You know what wholeness means? Even if I am awakened through my left to a small height. However, if my left begins to be equal with the right, that is wholeness. And in terms of height, it could be that the left is greater than the height, and then it is incomplete. That is, in each and every degree, we have the state of wholeness. It's on the middle line. And on this middle line, following a few such actions, we discover the Creator. The Creator is depicted to us on the middle line, where there is no right and no left, and everything is whole, to some extent, on some micro dose. But this is how we advance.

Question (Asia): (33:42) I wanted to ask about the point, the middle line that we have mentioned. It seems to me that movement stops there. We reach a whole state, the connection with the Creator. So there's no more fluctuations.

M. Laitman: On the middle line, there is no movement, You're right. For the time being there is no movement, no motion on the middle line. We will also reach how to work correctly with them in the middle line.

Question (Bulgaria): (34:27) Can we ask the Creator during the left line for faith above reason as means to leave the left line?

M. Laitman: You are right, yes.

Question (Kyiv 1): (34:47) If I connect with friends during the prayer, I feel the connection with the Creator and gratitude. Does it mean that I'm on the right line?

M. Laitman: I don't know. It depends on which conditions you're connecting with the Ten. Do you have work there or not? You have your ego there towards them that you have to annul, that you have to elevate them. These conditions for connection, they determine if it will be the right or the middle.

Student: What determines the right line? Is it the gratitude in the request when we feel the wholeness of the connection?

M. Laitman: That's incorrect. This is already the middle line. Look what it says here.

Reader: Again excerpt number 28.

A person must believe above reason that he is in wholeness, and so is the whole world.

M. Laitman: That everything in his eyes is in wholeness, then he is in adhesion with the Creator, and for this he says, “thanks.” This is natural.

But when shifting to work with the “right,” the left is the cause that the right is built on the basis of above reason.

M. Laitman: If we won't have the left, then upon which will we rise? That is, first of all, there has to be the left. This is why they say, left and right, left and right, this is how we walk.

This is as our sages said, “The left pushes away and the right pulls near.”

M. Laitman: Then the right has what to bring closer, to pray, to connect with the group, to look for all kinds of tactics in order to bring closer, because the left revealed how far away you are.

In other words, the state of “left” shows a person how he is rejected and separated from the work of the Creator. “The right pulls near” means that it shows him that he is close to the work of the Creator. This means that when he engages in the left, the left should bring him to see a state of rejection, that he is rejected and separated from the work.

M. Laitman: But this happens because a little bit more of his will to receive was revealed to him. They opened up for him what is in him. And then on top of this will to receive that was revealed, this new one, he can see how far away he is.

(38:43) 28. Rabash. Article 7 (1990), “What Are the Times of Prayer and Gratitude in the Work?”

When he engages in the right, he should come to a state where he sees that he is close to the Creator. He should thank the Creator for the “right,” and pray to the Creator for the “left,”Okay? Good.

Question (New York 1): (39:22) If we're not on the left line or on the right line, but instead of slumber, can we awaken by ourselves, meaning remember ourselves?

M. Laitman: A person has no possibility, if he's not awakened from the outside, to awaken by himself. Unless, as it is here, rather as it is in this world, you put up an alarm clock, let’s say. And this is the group, and you ask of them to wake you up. Or it comes from the Creator, both of these sources. But you, by yourself, if  you are disconnected, you cannot get up.

Reader: Friends, we're going to do excerpt number 28, and, no, we can't hear anything, sorry.
