Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Vol. 1. Part 2. Chapter Two. Inner light #10 ("Because the lights were divided into inner light..")

Reading “The Approach to Studying the Wisdom of Kabbalah” Item 4 (00:17)

Reading Inner Light, Item 10 (01:46)

1. S. (07:17) Exactly, here at the end of this addition? he says, “we should not ask”, but we learn that we don't receive in phase four, only the first three?

R. We are receiving in all phases, the question is where we can feel it and where we can respond to it. But all of the phases are full of light, only when speaking from the point of view of the vessel, that is what it is all about.

2. S. (07:59) Why does he say that “the first three phases are not worthy of reception, and they cause the appearance of phase four”?

R. They do not have enough deficiency, enough desire; the desire did not reveal itself fully, completely there. That’s why they cannot receive, they lack the force of the desire. It all depends on the force of the desire.

Reading Item 4 “The light of circles is the light of Nefesh…” (08:42) twice

3. R. (11:25) Where are we?

S. Inner Light, item 2, or questions?

R. No let’s learn first, maybe they will understand from Baal HaSulam.

Reading Inner Light, Item 20 “Interprets the Ten Sefirot of circles . . . “ (11:39)

Reading Item 30 “Interprets the light called Light of Ruach…” (13:32)

4. S. (14:34) It is not so clear what is the vessel that receives the surrounding light without coarseness?

R. A light that receives from the surrounding light and the Kli that receives from the inner light; it all depends on the shape or the form of the vessel. If it is a Kli or a vessel without a screen, it can receive surrounding lights and a vessel that has a screen can receive according to the screen inner light.

5. S. (15:18) It is not exactly clear here what is the connection between vessels of circles and straightness, and the inner and outer vessels in both of these excerpts?

R. Vessels of circles are vessels that do not have any screens, they receive from what influences them. They are passive vessels therefore the light that expands in them is called “the light of Nukvah”, female. The vessels of straightness are active vessels, they extend the light, not that they receive the light, they extend it, they bestow it. Therefore, the light that expands in them is called “the light of the Zachar”, male.

S. There is a mutual relations between them?

R. One bestows to the other, they expanded this way: A vessel of straightness, vessel of circles, vessel of straightness, vessel of circles, we need both. Vessels of circles are vessels that are like a storehouse, many discernments there and these discernments gradually get clarified and they get added to the vessel of straightness, to bestowal. By that we rise, we connect, we awaken. From vessels of circles we become more and more like vessels of straightness.

6. S. (17:17) It says here that “the light of Ruach in relation to the light of Nefesh is bestowing and it is male”. What can you even take from that explanation for us?

R. The light of Nefesh expands enough that there is restriction, and it expands passively; whereas the light of Ruach is the light that you need to be with restriction and a screen, first phase and then you bestow. Therefore all the vessels in spirituality are divided into male and female. The female does not have a screen, the male has a screen and yet they could act between them and they work. The female carries within it the desire and the male carries within him, bestowal.

S. This involves only this part of Ruach in relation to Nefesh or any higher light in relation to a lower light. So it is a universal rule?

R. Correct.

7. S. (18:49) I hope the question is in the right place: Baal HaSulam writes here that the light of circles is Nefesh. If so, it follows that the Malchut of the world of Ein Sof received only the light of Nefesh?

R. No, it is called Nefesh according to the way the light expands in it, it can be a very great light, the light of the End of Correction, but if it does not expand through pressure, through pull, it is called Nefesh, Nefisha, non-active, but it is the light of Ein Sof. The light of Ein Sof that exists everywhere, in every state, you can also refer to it as the light of Nefesh, but it is Ein Sof, correct. But from its action it is a light of Nefesh.

S. The Malchut of the world of Ein Sof has no overcoming, no screen, so it received a massive light but only as the light of Nefesh.

R. All the lights that emanate are emanated from that one light that filled Malchut of Ein Sof. There is a difference between what exists in a place and how much this place can respond, pull it in, attract it, work, there's a big difference. It is possible that there is the light of  Ein Sof, but it works in the form of Nefesh, and it could be that it is a very small light, but it works in the form of Ruach, Neshama, Nefesh, Haya, Yechida, it doesn’t matter. It refers to the action as much as these actions are activated by the desire.

8. S. (21:00) We have this clarification, here, that we read when we read it turns out that ‘circles’ is like we learned ‘vessels of reception’ and ‘straightness’ are vessels of bestowal. Before that, in the first part, we discussed how the male was created first and then the woman. Does it have to do with the shattering?

R. I do not want to get confused with what you were discussing there. It is completely in such a way that you can't clarify anything and scrutinize anything. You should learn what he is writing for now and later you will be able to arrange all those things into a certain structure. “First, woman then a female, first man and then the woman comes out of him”, you will start building such philosophies that it is unrealistic. It is incorrect to relate to things this way, you are trying to materialize everything that we are talking about here.

9. S. (22:32) The ten Sefirot of straightness are called to male, the ten Sefirot are of circle are called female receiving from him. Is there an example of annulment of the upper one towards the created being that longs to resemble Him? Because we are talking about circles like the attitude of the Creator to the created being?

R. Right, we always speak of the level of annulment of the vessel which the will to receive relative to the light which is the will to bestow and accordingly we divide it into degrees, into various discernment.

S. The circles are not annulment towards the straightness?

R. No, circles come before straightness.

S. Right, and here the straightness is bestowing, and the circles are receiving?

R. The straightness that comes out as a result of the circles is the Bestower because there was a restriction and after the restriction it is possible to feel the circles only according to the line.

S. So, now the Creator receives from the created being. Can we say that?

R. Yes, certainly.

S. Even nullifies before him?

R. Yes, what is the innovation here? The Creator wants to depend on the created being.

S. So it’s an example for an annulment then?

R. Of course, you have to reach equivalence of form. If the created being has to rise to the form of the Creator, how can it be any other way?

S. To be able to nullify like Him.

R. Okay, this I'm leaving to you.

10. S. (24:46) Is the inner light a feeling of pleasure and the surrounding light a feeling of suffering?

R. I would not say it this way, it’s not speaking of the feeling itself but rather of the goals: what am I drawn to, what am I feeling, what I want to happen. If we're suffering and the pleasure acquires new characteristics, new discernments, it is possible that in my vessels I am suffering, in my will to receive itself; but above the will to receive, in my will to bestow, I’m enjoying myself, I am filled with pleasure. Do you understand?

11. S. (26:05) About the words we read, do I need to look for these words within me or within the common space between us that we are trying to build?

R. I do not understand what you are saying, don't bring me such questions. Question should be very clear. Repeat it.

S. Do I need to look for these words we read within me or in the common space between us that we are trying to build?

R. What does it mean to look for the words inside of me or in the space between us. Explain to me words that are between us, in the space between us? It’s not clear, maybe the translation is not precise but do not bring me such questions.

12. S. (27:05) What can a person do if he detaches from the inner work during the study?

R. Return, the society has to ensure that each one will be awakened, to awaken it itself more and more, go back to the awakening; and also for us, there needs to be someone there who does not forget about a song, about the reading of a certain verse to awaken everyone.

13. S. (29:01) Is there a difference between line and straightness?

R. Is there a difference between the line and the straightness? Of course, this is a line, and this is straightness: a line is a line, meaning the intention for bestow from above down, and straightness is the quality that receives according to the screen, restriction, reflected light. That it restricts things in such a way that it constantly connects to the upper light, the upper one, that is why it is called in addition to straightness, it is also called a line.

14. S. (29:59) If the vessels of circles are passive, why do they have an inner vessel, is that not a result of the screen?

R. The inner vessel as a result of the screen, yes.

S. So the question is: how is there an inner vessel in the vessel of circles?

R. No, this inner, internal, and exterior is relative to bestow and reception where seemingly we do not have that in the vessels of circle but the more they concentrate according to the goal when they come closer to it, that is why you have internal and external, they are nevertheless circles within circles. That is how they, the circle, they wrap around like the skins of an onion, they surround one another. It can't be that they will be an inner circle before you have outer circles that arrange him and turn him, twist him, and stabilize him and in this way he is receiving from them and is being activated by them.

15. S. (31:30) Is TES the description of the corrected state?

R. TES?

S. Yes, TES, is that the corrected state?

R. It is not a state. TES explains to us a few rules out of many that we don’t study, that do not appear in TES. It explains to us several rules, laws that exist between the light and the vessels in this reality that appears before us. Or we can say between the Creator and the created being where the created being is divided into many pieces, many parts and the influence of the Creator is divided into many influences. So, what’s the connection we have between the influence of the Creator on the created being and the influence of the created being on the Creator. The created beings restrict themselves and do not want to receive anything from the Creator only on the condition that they caused Him good the way He wants to cause to them. Then they take into consideration only the doing good to one another and nothing else. They do not consider their desires, their desire to receive pleasure and so on and so forth. Only as much as they can bestow goodness to one another meaning that each one seemingly lives inside the other.

17. S. (33:11) How does a reading of TES bring us closer to correction?

R. In reading TES, we first learn about the nature of the upper vessels, also how much these upper vessels are influencing them or bestowing, and how much the lower vessels can be impressed by them and bestow in return to them. And how much they can according to their ability to bestow the upper to the lower and the lower one to the upper one and how much they can be connected with one another. Meaning as much as they can embrace, come closer, kiss, there are degrees of connection there. Even to mate and give birth to new vessels, it all depends on how much the Creator towards the created beings and the created beings towards the Creator want and are capable of being a mutual connection. The Creator is gradually applying pressure on the created beings more and more as much as the lower ones can tolerate it and rise above their ego in order to bestow and return to the Creator. Only to the degree that the created being rises above the ego, to that extent he can bestow to the Creator. So the Creator gives the created beings such opportunities to rise above.

18. S. (35:07) How to be moved by TES as we are moved by Rabash articles?

R. If we interpret it correctly, TES is like a symphony and opera! I don't know how to say, an oratory. It is the most complete composition that can ever be because all of the articles, the letters that we read, they are like songs, how we call it? Choruses? Choruses no, more like easy listening music to the general public, pop music, maybe. But those who understand, who feel the depth in the connection between the created beings and the Creator, that is the opera that exists in TES.

19. S. (36:16) What are the Sefirot of lights, the lights are also divided into Sefirot?

R. The light is divided into Sefirot in the vessel. The light itself is not divided. The vessels they feel the light according to their qualities that are in them and because the vessels are included of desires, accordingly they feel the light. They divide the light  into many but it’s only how it appears relative to the vessels. Just like we have many colors, colored glasses then we receive the one light through all these colored glasses. But the light does not change, only those who receive it and the way they receive it in.

20. S. (37:19) You said earlier that the line is the intention to bestow from below upwards, but isn’t the intention something we build from below upwards?

R. I don't know what you're talking about, but the intention is something you build from below up.

21. S. (37:42) What is the role of the circle?

R. The role of the circle is to express to us the attitude of the Creator towards us, equal to all,  loving to all, relating equally to all and wants nothing but to relate to all the created beings and to love everyone in one embrace and He wants us to come back to Him with that same attitude from all of us. Because for Him there aren't many created beings only one that divides into many qualities. What can you with children? Now he's behaving this way and then another way and then another way, but in truth he’s a good kid although now he's a little bad, now he's a little angry. The Creator wants us to be together, to connect together as one created being and in this incorporation between us we come to the state of a good, created being.

S. So why don’t we relate to the Creator as a circle but through the line?

R. Because we are not able to relate to all His forms of bestowal who does good for the wicked and for the good. There is None Else Besides Him and it’s all Him. By trying to relate to Him in this way it brings us to a circle.

R. (39:20) I think that we will finish here, we have another meeting this afternoon. We will see each other, okay? Connection, embrace and love ahead of us. Thank-you, all the best.
