Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. The Gatehouse of Intentions (Chapter 1. #10)

Rav reading: Well let's continue. Afterwards the world of Beria was created in the exact same manner, meaning like the world of Atzilut where through the screen, that is the bottom of the whole of Atzilut, it illuminated downward and imprinted there an imprint of all that was in the world of Atzilut, it is called the world of Beria. Since it is a light of consequence and not the upper light itself however since it is the seal of Atzilut it must contain all of the phases that exist in Atzilut, meaning it's a replica of Atzilut only made of different matter. That's how it is concluded from the world of Atzilut to the world of Beria. Later on he continues here with an asterisk so we’ll first see if we have item ten and simple light there is none.

Reading number 11 (01:32)

Reading item number 12 (02:09)

Reading item 13 (02:49)

1. R. (03:50) That's clear these and those and these and those Hitkalelut and all of them in the Hey.

Reading item 14 (03:54)

2. R. (04:52) In other words each one is included from Hey and each one in the others.

Reading item 15 (05:03)

3. R. (05:48) All in all what he wants to tell us here is that everything is included in everyone and by that we conclude chapter one. Every world here is included of five phases and every phase, also five phases and so on and so forth until Ein Sof. So there's nothing really new here.

Reading simple light item 12 (06:38)

4. S. (12:16) Can you explain the connection between the Sefirot themselves to all the five discernments of the roots?

R. In fact the Behinot are most inclusive and according to them the discernments of what differentiates what separates between one in the other, one desire and the other desire, because everything is only a desire right, so we have desires which are separate from one another all in all five desires, then from these five from each and every one we have five more and five more and five more and so and that's how it continues until the Ein Sof, that is the system, and all of these desires they need to receive the form of bestowal. That is their correction to be similar to the Creator for being opposite of the Creator to resemble the Creator that is the wisdom we are studying.

S. But if he for instance talks about the world of AK which is the world of the Keter and then he says that there are these five discernments, root, soul, hall, and clothing, and there are ten more Sefirot there.

R. In each one ten Sefirot and in each more ten more Sefirot and that’s how it is.

S. So what's the connection between that being the world of Keter and five Behinot?

R. It depends only on how you count it, only how you count it. The Creator created a desire and this desire broke the Creator broke it in order to bring this desire to be similar to Him to the Creator, so he broke it into many different egoistic desires and now each and every broken desire needs to get its correction, so it gets its corrections in an awakening from below from within which are its Reshimot that are awakened, it receives the awakening from the lights that influence him from above and then through awakening from within and awakening from the outside upon each and every desire, the desire receives an awakening and it cannot remain in a state of calmness. These awakenings which are actually the lights either from within or from without they awaken these desires and that's how these desires eventually reach correction.

S. So the incorporations comes in.

R. Yes and that awakens them towards connection to be similar to the Creator to be as one like Him otherwise they feel themselves bad.

5. S. (15:44) There are Behinot, discernments, Sefirot, Partzufim, and there's also a Koma degree, can you explain this?

R. Sefirot, worlds, Partzufim these are things that we define according to the will to receive and the degree we define these according the will to bestow, according to the Masach the screen that exists in the same created being. That is the definition.

Reading Chapter 2 item 16 “The State of Intentions”

6. Rav Reading: (16:52) Now we will discuss the meaning of each of these worlds. Know that the root and the souls and the bodies are one phase and there is no separation between them however the garments and halls are two phases that are separate them from the three above phases, meaning from the Shoresh, Neshema, and Guf, from Levush Heichal, like we say at ourselves we have Shoresh, Neshema, and Guf, that’s within me and there is the clothing, what I'm clothed with, and then there is the Heichal, palace which is where I'm in, this is the structure of the worlds.

7. S. (17:50) Where is this place of ZON?

R. I don't understand the question. The place of ZON is below Keter, Hochma, Bina.

8. S. (18:09) We read the tip of the Yud. What is this tip of Yud?

R.  Tip of Yud is the Keter because Yud itself is also Keter but the tip of the Yud, what ties Yud to Ein Sof. That is the tip of the Yud.

9. S. (18:37) How can the Guf and the Neshama not be separated, the body and the soul?

R. Body and soul are not separated because Guf body is the Kli vessel and Neshama soul is the light that fulfills the Kli so it's impossible that one exists without the other.

10 S. (19:03) Does this article present what we need in order to build the real prayer for connection with the Creator?

R. Gate of Intentions is a very special book by Baal HaSulam, from which we can understand more of the creation in general, what is the structure of creation, the relationship between the Creator and the creator of beings and vice versa, in other words this is an article that he wrote in general for all of those that are interested.

It's not like TES where it's all written meticulously but also there it's relative because you can't write something complete about the wisdom of Kabbalah it would be thousands and thousands of books and no one will be able to finish it, because it's endless. That's why the Gate of Intentions is a book that follows, revolves, that surrounds the wisdom of Kabbalah and it brings us to the general view of it, and we learned this with Rabash and Rabash he truly respected this book. For newer students I would say it's good after they learned Pticha to study the Gate of Intentions. I think it's good because it's much, on the one hand it's a thin book, on the other hand it gives nevertheless a general overview of all of reality.

S. (21:30) How do we summarize this lesson Rav?

R. Read again what Ushpizin of Abraham and Issac is. We should invest in it more because all the rest of the topics we can study in different times, but in the times of Sukkot we should study what is related, what ties to Ushpizin how we draw upon ourselves the upper light that will build in us the qualities of Abraham Isaac Jacob Moshe Aaron Joseph and David. Good luck to you until tomorrow.
