Preparation passage before TES - Nov. 08, 2020 Reader (00:01 - 01:52)
Baal HaSulam. "Study of the Ten Sefirot" (TES). Part 1. Table of Questions for Topics #94 " Why is it not possible to turn a Kli for reception into.."
13. (2:00) Question 94: Why is it not possible to turn a Kli for reception into a vessel for bestowal, except here in this world, and not in the upper World?
Answer: Corruption and correction in the same carrier exist only in this world.
R. From the world of Ein Sof, Malchut of Ein Sof, that decided up there in the world of Ein Sof to be inverted to in order to bestow, to resemble the light, by that it caused the falling of the entire system all the way down to this world to return from this world back to the world of Ein Sof. Only then in the descent and the division in two worlds, the Partzufim, the Sephirot and the souls, and the still, vegetative and animal and the shattering and correction, shatterings and corrections, when it returns back it turns the vessel of reception into in order to bestow and all of it is because it is standing in this world and from this world, specifically from within this world here it can correct itself. What is the question? (repeats question) It's a question about how important is this world, look how important. (Reads answer) Both the will to receive and the will to bestow they meet together only in this world it cascades down from the world of Ein Sof in this way to one point in this world and in return from this point back to the world of Ein Sof, but only in this world is there contact between them they can become as I mentioned in the previous lesson, they can go from a billion dollars to bestowing contentment because of the greatness of the Creator. The Kli can arrange itself by disconnecting from everything and connecting with everyone in the group, The vessel can do this only in this state called this world, Olam Hazeh, this is called this world, where we can connect both the opposites into one to determine where we belong to, either to this or to that. In the human of this world two systems connect, it is truly a miracle.
14. (5:09) Question 95: What are the two Behinot of the light?
Answer: Ohr Hochma and Ohr Hassadim.
R. The light that comes from the will to receive in order to bestow and the light that comes from the will to bestow in order to bestow. Where I don't have the vessels, not enough strength or intention in order to bestow, then it is the light of Hassadim. Both the light of Hassadim and the light of Hochma work in the vessel in order to bestow. Rather, because of the lack of coarseness in the vessel, the lack of the screen, the vessel is only bestowing, is the light of Hassadim, I seemingly don't have anything to give to the other except for my attitude. This is the light of Hassadim and if I have what to give the other in addition to my attitude I can also give him and fill his vessels of reception, capable of doing this, then this means that I'm working with the light of Hochma. (Reads question again) Two forms of bestowal, light is a form of bestowal, so you have the light of Hochma in the light of Hassadim. The light of Hassadim is if the desire of the bestower is too small and it doesn't have enough of a screen, the reflected light and the light of Hochma is when he has the screen and reflected light, enough to bestow. Let us say, I have a million dollars in my pocket and I can bestow to you high spirits through a meal or something, this is called the light of Hassadim. The light of Hochma is when I can take all my vessels with everything I have in them I divide it all between you, meaning bestowal from the vessels of reception of the giver is the light of Hochma, bestowal out of only the desire to bestow of the giver is the light of Hassadim.
15. S. (7:55) The mechanics when we out of our world can make a correction in the vessels can you elaborate on this more how it happens?
R. It is because in you there are desires to receive and desires to bestow and through the group and the study, various actions in this world you can awaken both sides and it exists only in this world. It is not in the still, vegetative and animal in this world but only in man, man is included in the upper and the lower a desire to receive and a desire to bestow and this is why this poor guy is sometimes here and sometimes there we don't know who is this person everything that awakens within him seemingly accidentally. One time and he's a good person and another time he is a bad person and this is why he's able to connect these two worlds inside of him the world of bestowal in the world of reception, the portion of the Creator and a portion of the created being and he can be one time and this and one time and that. The correction is in our ability to move between, including ourselves in the will to receive of this world and another time including ourselves in the will to bestow of the upper world. So you're taking a piece of bread, or a cake as Rabash writes, you dip it in the whiskey and this is how you eat, the whiskey so that you can be a one-time bad and one-time good, one-time bad and one-time good. There's no righteous person in the world that has done good without sinning because if he didn't sin how could it be righteous? A Tzaddik, a righteous, is the one who takes the bad things and transfers them to the good side.
S. This neutral point of the scale that you speak about, is this a point of restriction?
R. It is the point of the Creator, it belongs to nothing it is above the two. just like when you're holding the scales, they are connected. You have the two pans and they're connected on top and you're holding it, that point is the Creator and you can play with the scales.
S. True that work in the group I integrate with the friends I can choose how to use bestowal and reception?
R. You can say yes, it will change many times.
16. S. (11:08) On the one hand I have a billion dollars, on the other hand a friend gives the importance of bestowal. How do I know that I don't change a cow for a donkey?
R. Only in the integration in the group.
S. That can also be in the will to receive?
R. Yes, it can but at least you get to scrutinise it.
17. S. (11:44) Say that the feeling of the darkness is the mating of the vessels of reception and of bestowal?
R. No, darkness is darkness, there are many styles in darkness.
18. S. (12:12) You gave an example that you give to the group something and then in the light of Hochma, you pour everything you have. What is the difference between the two degrees?
R. In the light of Hochma you have the will to receive that works in order to bestow, and in the light of Hassadim you have the will to bestow on a small-scale, the and Shoresh and Aleph. It's like a little child that doesn't want to bestow, it gives pleasure by annulling itself.
18A. S. It's not clear, how it's possible to correct the vessels in the upper worlds if you have to make a correction in order to rise to them?
R. I don't understand your question.
S. In order to rise to the upper world's I need to correct my vessels to the vessels of bestow otherwise I remain here so the question is in what world do we correct the vessels?
R. In the same world where you are is where you make the correction.
S. Why is there a question if the correction happens in our world?
R. The correction takes place in the same world where we are.
19. S. (13:55) What is the principle that correction and corruption in 1 carrier only happens in this world?
R. Because a person is one time in his will to receive and in his will to bestow and the point of this world exists in all of the world because we climb from this world to the world of Ein Sof and this point the point of this world constantly remains in us and one time we are in order to bestow, and one time in order to receive. This is why the students of Rabbi Shimon wanted to kill one another after that, they switched over to the end of correction, because they were included in the point of this world and they climbed higher from this world to the point of Ein Sof how the corrections happen.
S. I would expect that the Creator is inside the ten because he appears inside the ten, so how do you say that He is in the middle and the right side of the scales?
R. The Creator is both in the vessels of reception and the vessels of bestowal. To the extent that we can balance them and use them in order to bestow, the intention to bestow drives in the middle.
20. S. (15:28) The mutual guarantee, is this a mechanism that creates or directs this desire that shifts the importance of the desire from one world to another?
R. Yes, we can do it with mutual guarantee, you are correct.
21. S. (15:58) A person in spiritual attainment still wants the million dollars?
R. He who is greater than his friend, his inclination is greater. As you climb up the spiritual degrees, you are given such temptations, you don't give them to beginners, and you can't do anything about it. The Creator is seemingly making fun of you, you're a great one, you're there up in Atzilut, giving you such desires, which are called Klipot, what you fall into as unbelievable how suddenly certain low, unspeakable desires grab a person and turn him into a rag. Just wait.
S. Even though you feel the Upper World, the attainment and the pleasure from spirituality still this pleasure rises...?
R. About that, it is written, don't believe yourself until the day that you die. Until your will to receive, all of it dies, meaning you rose above it and you are determined that it is dead, entirely dead in your eyes. Then don't believe in yourself and a greater will to receive can come and the Creator does everything to drop you and humiliates you even more than before. Just as beginner students are starting to overcome certain nonsense that kind of tiny nonsense, That kind of tiny nonsense a great Kabbalist can't overcome because he's given to see that in his degree.
22. S. 18:20) We learned that the Klipot guards the fruits of these desires that we relate to as Klipot, how do they guard the fruit?
R. We're not talking about the Klipot that we create, it is the Klipot, shells that surround the fruit from the beginning, that you can't reach the fruit before you have the power to overcome the Klipa and then the Klipa becomes the fruit itself. Like with an apple if an apple is not ripe then the shell of the apple and the internality of the apple are almost the same, whereas later, when it ripens inside, the insides are sweet and the shell, the peel is the peel. It all depends on whether the person is ready for it or not.
23. S. (19:28) We talked about the Klipa. What's the state bestowing in order to receive? The state where we want to receive more reward and we're in that state, not advancing towards bestowal? Can we fall into the trap called bestowing in order to receive?
R. Yes.
S. And remain in it forever?
R. No, there is no such thing as forever. You fall into it and you come out of it you follow into it and come out of it
S. Who can help you come out of it?
R. There is no such thing.
24. S. (20:19) To explain more about this meeting of the will to receive and the will to bestow in this world?
R. In one carrier are these two things that happened in one person, one time in this and one time in that, where does he write about it?
S. He writes in many places about the two opposites in one carrier.
R. And only in this person who is integrated in both?
S. Understand, I'm talking about the approach that there's no reason to get confused and try to connect things from this reality to the reality of the upper world. Only from the upper one the lower one learns, so how is your connection between the things now?
R. I'm not certain of the picture that you're drawing there. What is the lower world? Right now are we also in spirituality or only in corporeality if you define it as the desire to bestow then we don't have it but in the system we are in the general system, everything is included in the one system.
S. I thought only in a person who enters spirituality these two systems connect but you said in this world the two systems connect?
R. Yes, that is what I am calling this world, that if a person is not in the spiritual process, he is not in this world, it is also called this world but it is only by name, it is a state that doesn't belong to spirituality, it is before all of his attitude towards spirituality.
25. S. (22:22) How does the ten keep the balance of the scales and not fall to one of the edges?
R. My yearning towards the center of the ten and connecting there together.
26. S. (23:01) Bestowal and reception if I understood correctly are concepts of the corporeal world and they are like two legs that we are supposed to go between them and move to the Creator which is the source?
R. Let's say I don't know, I'm not certain what you're depicting there as to whether I disagree or agree and I don't hear a question.
S. Simply trying to understand.
R. Reception and bestowal are the two forces that exist in nature, we learn how to work correctly with both.
S. The source of both of them is one. In the source, there is no definition, just wholeness?
R. Above, there is the Creator who creates all of that in one system.
Excerpt (24:28 ) Introduction to Panim Meirot uMasbirot Item 12. Therefore, we need a person in this world that he inherits the vessels of the other side in the empty space and then he rises and connects with the building of sanctity by the merit of Torah and Mitzvot, to bring contentment to his Maker. He transforms the greatness of reception that he acquired, so it is arranged in the him only in order to bestow, and by that equalizes the form to his maker and the intention takes place in him and this is the secret of the reality of time in this world and you find that first the two opposites were separated into two opposite things, meaning the sanctity and the other side, as it is said this against that. That is where the correction did not happen to them yet because they have to happen in a single carrier which is man. Therefore, we necessarily mean that the reality of times, that the two opposites come into the person one after the other meaning in the time of Katnut and in the time of Gadlut.
Excerpt (26:15) Baal HaSulam Letter 51 The whole difficulty in serving Him is that, in the worshiper there are always two opposites in the same carrier that his uniqueness is simple but must clothing in man's body which consists of a body and a soul which are two opposites. Therefore in any spiritual concept that one attains, two opposite forms are immediately created in him, one form on the part of the body form on the part of the Soul. By Nature a person cannot scrutinize the body and the Soul as two carriers, rather he is composed by the Creator as one, meaning one carrier. For this reason spiritual attainment is as difficult for him as two opposites that cannot properly clothe in one carrier. It is similar to the binding of Isaac where the Creator said to Abraham: “for in Isaac shall a seed be called to you” and the Creator said to him “and offer him there for a burnt offering,” from the perspective of the Creator, it is as was written, “I,the Lord do not change,” but in the perception of the receiver they are opposites.
R. The receiver is both from the will to receive and from the will to bestow and in the will to bestow is eternity and wholeness as in Isaac you shall have a seed and in the will to receive he hears the opposite kill him, sacrifice him. The receiver is in such a split where he cannot connect the two and that is how it is and all of the degrees on each degree, it is split and wholeness, it is our path and it is difficult.
27. (28:36) Question 96. What does the Hitpashtut, expansion of the Ohr, light from the Ma’atzil contain?
Answer. The will to bestow and the will to receive.
R. The will to receive and the will to bestow are in the light that expands from the Creator.
28. (29:08) Question 97. Which light appears with the intensification of the will to bestow?
Answer. The light of Hassadim.
R. That's how Baal HaSulam mentions it simply and concisely and that is it.
29. (29:36) Question 98. Which are the two lights that are contained in every emanated being?
Answer. Light of Hochma, wisdom in the light of Hassadim, Mercy.
30. (29:58) Question 99. Why is the light of Hassadim inferior to the light of Hochma?
Answer. Because it is extended by the intensification of the desire of the Ne’etzal.
R. Therefore it is weaker.
31. (30:25) Question 100. When is the Kli of reception completed?
Answer. When the Behina Dalet of the desire appears which is the great will to receive.
R. There are many questions and what we're going over now, the light of Hassadim, which extends by the intensification on the part of the created being. How does it also draw with it the light of Hochma, how does it invert itself to receiving an order to bestow? This is GAR, there are many things here that we learned in the wisdom itself, the important thing is to see that the light of Hochma comes from the Creator, the light of Hassadim comes from the created being.
32. (31:25) Question 101. What is the difference between one who receives within and one who receives without, as in Ein Sof, Infinity?
Answer. The one who receives within can hold with it a limited amount of light.
R. Like in a cup, receiving within or outside of it, Inner Light and Surrounding Light.
Answer continued. Because of the limitation of the Kli. When receiving without the vessel does not limit the light and it holds and it is without it Kitzba.
33. (32:17) Question 102. What are the Sephirot of the Igulim?
Answer. When there is no differentiation of above and below among the four Bechinot in the desire, they are regarded as four Igulim, one within the other, like onion skins.
R. They are concentric, they have the same center, all of the circles are one inside the other.
34. (33:06) Question 103. Why are the degrees in the Igulim not regarded as being one below the other before the appearance of the Kav, line?
Answer. Because the Tzimtzum did not occur because of the inferiority of the Shinui Tzura, disparity of form.
35. (33:44) Question 104. Is there evil in the will to receive by the nature of its creation?
Answer. There is no wanting in it by the nature of its creation, nor would it appear in it had it not been restricted.
R. Then the Tzimtzum was revealed and the inferiority was revealed inferiority, because it can’t bestow like the Creator. That concludes Part 1 of TES. Let's wait a little bit of Part 2, just to bridge it.
Part 2 Chapter One: (34:55 - 36:42)
36. R. I think we will leave it at this point and move on to the next part.
