Breaking the Barriers to Spirituality #4
1. Rav’s Introduction: Yes, we need to rise to the first spiritual degree first of all, and later on to continue. Continue rising on those degrees and as we read from Baal HaSulam the first degree, the first contact is the hardest one and of course it is the most important one because we by that begin to know the opposite world, it's attitude, it's values, relations, laws and before that we can only imagine it inside of our ego, inside of what we have now. What seems to us as spirituality but in truth we don't feel it and the spiritual world exists with new other qualities, new values and when we begin to know it we see how much it is the opposite as it says I saw an opposite world, on the one hand, and on the other how much it isn't really, as the confusion diminishes from one day to the next we feel increasingly more what states, what actions we have to focus on, to concentrate to go from success to success and to ascend in such a way. Let us now read these excerpts, they are not difficult, we should just try together as much as possible to depict them to ourselves and by that we already will also achieve a certain proximity towards the first-degree.

2. R. This is how we should count our efforts, the preventions that all of them, we don't know what spirituality is we only know that the first moment that we can connect between us, at least to the very first measure, it is considered that according to the Kli we are reaching the spiritual state and then we begin to feel that we are entering the connection between us called Ibur, conception and later on additional degrees Yenika, Mochin, all of our work is the connection between us into a single group, one single mass, one desire made from many desires that become one desire aimed towards connection, towards bestowal. The main topic that lives in this desire is the bestowal to the Creator and is more important than anything.
S. Distancing and coming near, are they felt in the same vessel or is this to different vessels?
R. The nearing and distancing is the same vessel by which we perform actions, one time we feel the coarseness and another time we feel the refinement, coarseness and refinement over the same desire but the desire changes each time. It becomes more coarse meaning when they add to us the will to receive and we perform actions on it of overcoming on our side and also on the Creator’s side, as what the mind doesn't do time does, the other component here. That way we get closer, that is the distancing, which is the first thing, as we said not too long ago at first there is the formation of the desire, the deficiency and the filling of the deficiency is what awakens us to take us a step forward and when we try then we get help from above. Then the nearing occurs, or the same distancing, it doesn't erase the distancing, the desire does not disappear but rather on top of it we feel that we are achieving a certain familiarity with the upper force.
3. S. (07:25) What causes the disturbance, the distancing to become the revelation of the Creator what is the transition between corporeality and spirituality?
R. Corporeality meaning the will to receive and spirituality is when it already becomes in order to bestow.
S. According to what I gather from the text it is done above the interruptions, the hindrances so these are with respect to the will to receive?
R. Everything is in respect to the will to receive besides the desire there is nothing I think about your question.

4. R. Here there is something and its opposite, in our life the more we grow we understand life better, even though we are discovering new systems of connection in the society, in the family, country, world, however we understand increasingly more what is going on because we are familiar with these things as we already had them before us. In spirituality it is not this way, the more we advance each and every step is for us revealed first of all through greater concealment and then accordingly revelation, so we should discover the concealment and then we have to make efforts, putting in the required labor, the quota of labor. Then we begin to discover the degree as it is, this is how we advance really as it is like the difference between an ordinary person going through his life and let's say a scientist, the more he advances in his work, researching some new matter he doesn't discover it as things that are easier as we understand them better, as an ordinary person discovers life but to the opposite, he enters harder work in his research, more complex. Seemingly, each and every time he has before him greater barriers, greater disturbances but that is his work and each time he is opening up something new. Whereas an ordinary person in his life doesn't open anything new but rather what others have discovered and now he is discovering. This is why here we need to understand that we will always be in states where disturbances will be revealed before us and above these disturbances we will have to with faith above reason, with the connection between us with our efforts to reach such states where each time we are breaking through, trailblazing the new degrees.
5. S. (12:24) This difficulty, the disruptions, how are they related to our purity or our corruption?
R. Because all of these disturbances are no more than the revelation of a greater desire than we had. It is simply another degree of the will to receive and then we are outside of spirituality and we can see the height of the will to receive that is now being revealed before us, not corrected, as a barrier, as a wall and behind it we cannot see anything. Then we are in a state where only through faith above reason, if we try to be equipped with the force of faith, the force of bestowal and we have no proof for it, no support for it seemingly and here we have to find these means to overcome the will to receive, to overcome the barrier, how do we go over it or through it. Here my work is above reason, that I imagine to myself that this will to receive that has now appeared before me is mine and I have to work above it. This is called faith above reason, bestowal above reception that I must raise the greatness of the Creator in my eyes more than the greatness of anything that I see here in this world before me.
We have such a topic also in those recent days, when I imagine to myself this way, that the most important is the greatness of the Creator and I reach that through the greatness of the group. That I depict to myself in such a way, I already make all kinds of efforts where how can I go through the barrier, I cannot do it but increasingly more it becomes clear to me where I am, what kind of barrier I have before me and how I can overcome it. I'm not capable of it but nevertheless I know that in such a way I can do it, maybe and then I make efforts, how can I put together the force of bestowal, the force of connection, the force of support from the group and when I do all of these things already together with the group, connected to them it becomes clear to me that here I have only one thing left. I am not succeeding, the group does not succeed, rather the prayer, the demand, the request from the Creator that he will help us, it makes the last step and then we go forward to the next step. There are a few such actions here and we need to learn how to do it and he talks about each and everything, first as earlier, we had lessons almost about each and every state that we have to go through in order to rise from degree to degree.
6. S. (16:21) Throughout the day we have all sorts of revelations and discernments from this world, how not to relate to that how to relate directly and not necessarily through bad relations?
R. I do not recommend to relate to this world too much and to the revelations that we have here because it is all in order to push us even more to spirituality. We see what the Creator is doing in this world with the whole of humanity, this is his way to explain to the whole of humanity, how much we are all interconnected, we are all dependent upon nature and nature is him, however he is hidden behind this corporeal nature but nevertheless more and more it is becoming revealed to all people that we all depend on one another and that we all exist inside an integral system. Right now we don't have to work with that because we don't yet have our vessel where to begin from.
In spirituality, the spiritual vessel, what we have is the 10 and if we don't have a 10 as one, at least on the first degree of connection between all of us, we still cannot advance more than that and we need to build the 10 this way. The second thing is we also need to realize that only afterwards when from the 10, from the construction of the 10 we will understand what it means to be in a connection between us, above the disturbances then we will also be able to come to the world practically and explain to everyone what the world needs to do also, the same actions like us but in a corporeal way. It will be more clear to us on the condition that we will build ourselves as tens and this is why we are not relating toward what is happening in the world but the most important is our whole outlook should be towards each and every 10, where each and every one of us is in order to feel that we are connected internally with one another. Our only concern is about that.
7. S. (19:31) Does it mean that the Creator builds the system of his revelation in such a way that the expansion of the vessel each time makes new room for light and his revelation?
R. Yes, you can say that also. First of all, a new desire is revealed on each and every degree, if we upon this new desire that is separating between us, are able to connect them by that we build a place for the revelation of the Creator, a new place.

8. R. It says that you always elevate in sanctity and are not lowered, what does this mean, in our whole life we have nothing by which the Creator is truly rejecting us from advancing towards the truth, towards spirituality, towards him. Rather this is how we think, how it appears to us but if we are aimed correctly towards the goal, toward spirituality then we will always be able to detect each and every state of ours as an invitation from him to come as quickly and in a short way to him.
9. S. (24:48) What does it mean to place a screen over the coarseness?
R. The screen has to ride on top of the coarseness, as much as I have a desire and the desire is an egoistic desire, I have to make a restriction over this desire and have a screen starting to work with it in bestowal, the opposite of what I have. Now what does that mean? That anything which comes to me in my mind or in my heart, I have to arrange it so I receive it from the Creator because there is none else besides Him. I received it in such a way that it is in order for me to reach connection with the friends and in the right connection between us, in mutual bestowal as much as we are capable of it under the conditions which we have and the Creator arranges for us these conditions, so that we will reach a connection on the way where we can already feel him more and more. The nature of the connection should be as mutual bestowal between us which is called the Creator.
S. What does it mean to admit desires into Holiness?
R. In order to bestow this means Holiness, Kedusha.
S. So some thoughts or an egoistic desire comes to me then I think that it comes from the Creator, what next? How do I admit it into Holiness?
R. if you already think that it came from the Creator, now you have to actualize it because what you are thinking is not enough yet. How is it revealed in the 10, out of this new state you need to reach connection with the 10, with the friends such that the Creator will be revealed in the connection between you. That the connection between you and the friends will be renewed in the new states so that you will feel that the quality of bestowal is dwelling among you and this is the Creator there is already some nearing to the revelation of the Creator.
S. ....
R. You are not using it for yourself, you are using it to reveal him in the 10, the entire 10 and by that give contentment to the Creator.
S. ....
R. Yes of course, the desire if it is yours, it is egoistic nevertheless, whatever it is as much as you can be confused about it will remain egoistic. However, if you connect the desire with the friends and you want to discover in the connection between you the mutual inclusive common force of bestowal between you then you discover a new desire already on the level of bestowal. What resides within is already the force of bestowal, the force of Bina, the Creator and this is how we advance and everything will become clear on the way. There has to just be an inclination towards the scrutiny and if you talk about it, yearn for it, making efforts together then it should become clear very quickly as we are truly ready for this action. The only problem is throughout the day we forget about it, disconnect from it and this is why we are circling around it all of the time but not realizing it. We need to try more throughout the day to be around this.
10. S. (29:22) Perhaps I'm asking incorrectly, but I don't feel I'm together with the 10, I do however feel the thoughts and desires that the Creator awakens in me when I restrict it and I am making this action every second with all of my thoughts and desires, so I restrict those that I cannot work with and those that I can work with, that I can cover with them I connect to the 10?
R. The moment I feel myself disconnected from the 10, I fall into this world and it doesn't matter what thoughts and desires I have, I am in the framework of this world. The moment that I with all of my desires and thoughts I am connected with the 10 even though I don't feel in it any benefits, any addition, any sensation. The moment that I try to find together with them some network of connection between us, something common, this means I am already taking care of spirituality, of building and establishing the spiritual vessel. According to that we can feel where we are each one inside of himself and where the spiritual vessel is which is between us. Fill this gap, the difference between one and the other as much as you are capable, as you try to be inside of the vessel of the group, the common Kli it is considered that you are making efforts towards spirituality.
S. Am I doing something wrong?
R. You think that you can reach awareness, feeling, a spiritual sensation by yourself and that is not going to happen. Spirituality exists in the connection with others and everything starts from the fact that there was a shattering of the vessel and therefore the entire ascent in spirituality is according to what connection do you have of the broken vessels. The broken vessels connect by remain broken, that is the gap between them remains and above this gap we have to connect, this is called love covers all crimes. Then we have coarseness, increasingly more and on top of it connection and connection that increases, this is called rising on the spiritual degrees. If we don't envision it in such a way then we are simply staying put on the path, we are not advancing.
S. Are their desires what you fulfill?
R. No, desire we can realize by ourselves, it is a grave mistake and just wasting time, prolonging time. As we were born in this world so we will die without any spiritual result if we will continue in this manner. Therefore, we have to really understand well what is spiritual advancement in the connection, in the 10, if there is no 10 then you are not even in the right place. This is called that the Creator brings a person to the good place, to the good fate and says take that, it is impossible any other way, I didn’t make these things I am just explaining it to you and I know myself how hard it is, we have to turn the switch here that spirituality is about coming closer it is written everywhere about that.
11. S. (34:09) The more we advance the more we discover how different we are, the difference is, the gaps between us grow and I here I need to imagine to myself the main thing is the greatness of the Creator is through the greatness of the group, this is what can connect us?
R. How do you measure the greatness of the Creator, the more we are separated that each one is great on his own, the distance between us is great, accordingly if you connect above it you discover a greater Creator. The force of connection is greater.
S. What is included in that concept of the greatness of the Creator?
R. The greatness of the Creator first of all, that we should try to reach an emotional state where I have nothing before me except for this force who is arranging every moment in my life and also he is awakening me in the opposite way. He brings me throughout the day taking me through all kinds of states where I am disconnected from him, from the 10, from each and everything and I am preoccupied with all sorts of nonsense of this world as you can see with all people. This is how he is arranging us to depict him that he is behind all of these actions that we go through. That we must constantly be connected with him through all of these disturbances, that is first of all.
S. Why is this called the greatness of the Creator when through the disruptions we are connected with him?
R. The greater the disturbances are and I discover him he becomes greater in my eyes through this, the disturbances are only for me to make an effort, to detect him even more and by this I magnify like with a lens, I bring him closer. The greater the disturbance and he becomes blurry I make additional effort to detect him, that he is doing it. Then he is covering the world more and more in my eyes where I see that everywhere he is confusing me but also in a more essential way he becomes revealed until I can see that his glory fills the world.
S. How to see him through the greatness of the friend specifically?
R. We work together in this way, so it turns out that what we build between us, we are building this lens through which in the center of the lens and its focus between us, there we discover him. That he is the one who establishes the group, he is establishing us, the world, yes.
S. How to see that all of the friends are acting through him and towards him?
R. In that you have to make an effort for that, actually as Rabash writes that the Creator stands behind each and every friend otherwise, how will you discover him if not through the friends?
S. It seems the opposite, that we are only drifting further away from each other?
R. In order to discover Him more, this is even how devices, instruments are built in this world. If you want to discover something, you have to discover the opposite things and inside of them you've discovered the desirable phenomena, the advantage of light out of darkness. The friends will become revealed as more distant from connection until they will be hated, wanting to kill one another, everything that we read about in the sources of Kabbalah, the excerpts. We're not in kindergarten, being so nice to each other, holding each other by the hand and singing in a circle, this is on top of all of the bad feelings and sensations. It is nothing now because the one who is greater than his friend his inclination is greater and he will have hatred, rejection and all kinds of things where we will discover a lot of it. We will have between us, even some that you see now as friends, that they are truly separating us, that they are wild and breaking all boundaries, it will all come.
S. How to call Him for help through the friends.
R. As much as you connect together above all of the disturbances, we're together you can sit and cry and hug one another and you go inside, hating one another, this is how you turn to the Creator. This is called that there is nothing more whole than a broken heart.

R. We need to make such exercises especially now towards the Congress, maybe we should do it, let me know when and at one time and we will find special materials, brief, not too long and around it we can do what we call the breaking of the heart.
12. S. (40:25) How should we focus in the right way, what is missing between us?
R. What is missing in us is only one thing that what exists between us is the Creator and we have to connect on top of whatever he is doing to us, the distancing until we will feel ourselves as one man with one heart, in each stage on each and every degree this is what we are missing and nothing besides that. If you will read all of the Articles and in general everything that the Kabbalists wrote, they only wrote about that. You will see, I went through all of the Articles of Baal HaSulam and Rabash I don't know how many times, some I did with Rabash and some without Rabash and it's all written about this. How do we connect above the distancing, the Creator is distancing between us and all different matters and there he is hiding and as much as we want on top of it not to cancel the differencing distancing but with this distancing to overcome it with connection and we need to learn how to do this.
It is not simple as it seems that we will cancel the distancing and everything will be okay, no. We leave the distancing there, we are aware of the rejection, the hatred, the misunderstanding and all of these things, specifically one who is greater than his friend, his inclination is greater. The more a person resists the connection, we also have to keep him in the 10 not to expel him because he is bringing us a special coarseness so that with this we will try to advance. Only if he truly, seems to us that he can't work on connection in any way shape or form, so he already belongs to a different level, a different degree and in truth he belongs to a higher degree. His egoistic desire is not from our degree it is higher and it requires special treatment. We will talk more about it.
13. S. (43:11) How can the 10 help the friend who justifies it because his disconnection comes from the Creator, so it's all fine?
S. The fact that the Creator says everything is clear there is no doubt about that, there is nothing else besides Him. The fact that we need to accept it as coming from him this is also true but if you position yourself opposite the Creator meaning that you received this from him, then from that point onwards you can advance in spirituality even though you feel that you are in the very worst state and that you don't want to connect, that you are incapable of anything and that you hate these things, that you're tired of it, but with that the Creator brings it to you, you understand it comes from him. From there you have a point from which you can advance because you are connected to Him also, so you have two points, the point of disconnection and the cause of the disconnection, which is the Creator and then you can advance.
The problem is that when we fall, we fall and disconnect from the Creator. Meaning, that it is Him who did it and here the group needs to throw a rope to you, a safety float, in what way? It is to remind that everything comes from the Creator. So don't disconnect as it all comes from Him, let us create the connection for you we hold onto the Creator and you hold onto us and then we will rise together as each one helps his friend. It is forbidden for us to disconnect from our connection to the 10 that is actually the most important point.
From that if we disconnect from there we come out of spirituality and if we are still connected, then we have a path to advance on. The group has to be between me and the Creator, the group is between me and the Creator and even if I disconnect from the Creator then I am in a stormy sea, it doesn't matter if I am connected to the group then through it, I am connected to the Creator and I am always rescued from every situation. The main thing is not to lose contact with the group.
S. What is the difference between the Creator that I'm saying is disconnecting me from the group and the Creator that is connecting me to the group?
R. It is the same upper force and by that it promotes me, that is how he promotes me, how do we teach our children? When we start them with walking, let's say with a child a year old we set him in front of us and he needs to start walking, he stands he cries, he doesn't know what is happening and usually he falls down because that is safest. Again we pull him up and we move away, when we take him in our hands he grabs on and doesn't want us to let go but we place him down and let go so that he takes the step forward towards us. For lack of choice not knowing what to do, crying he starts, we even take his foot and set it and then the other foot and place that one and move it, this is how we teach. S. The disconnection becomes an invitation for unity because of the force of the 10?
R. Yes, the Creator wants us to connect, to embrace each other more strongly and with him also together, he elevates the feeling of disconnection between us but it is not disconnection, it's only revelation of a place in which we can become better connected. Before we didn't discover this empty place, the free space in the connection between us and it is revealed each time increasingly more the place which is deficient, where connection is missing until we close it up entirely and this is how we discover in the connection between us, between our desires that the Creator is the feeling. Then we have a vessel and a filling which are complete and this is the end of correction.
14. S. (50:07) How do we raise the importance of our connection above everything when there should be hatred otherwise there will be no progress, how do we help those friends not to disconnect?
R. First of all, there is no situation in which we are in a group and there is such great hatred between everyone that we can't emerge from, the Creator never arranges such things for us. He always plays with us in such a way that it's time we discover within the 10, such distances, contrast, hatred, rejection which will bring us close. We have to understand that everything that appears is in our benefit, that is for certain and it all depends on how quickly we organize and understand that it is all in our best interest and engage in the process of correction. You are always elevated in Holiness, never demoted and that is how we need to advance organizing as a group, what do we mean how do we meet what do we discuss, how not to waste the time, how can we feel that we are performing scrutiny, criticism on ourselves so we advance correctly or not. We need to engage in such scrutiny, what else are we missing and what else do we think we need to do. That way, that is how we will clarify things.
15. S. (52:22) There's nothing more whole than a broken heart and we need to make such exercises before the Congress, what does this mean?
R. Exercises means to try to make as many connections through the disconnections and you can say we're not disconnected it's all fine, that means that you're disconnected and you don't feel that you disconnected. It is like a man with a broken leg but he doesn't feel it, he received anesthesia, an injection and he doesn't feel it. We don't feel, if we don't feel the shattering, the disconnection it means that we are asleep, anesthetized that we don't feel the proper state, the real state which is where we are there feel disconnection or connection, disconnection or connection.
16. S. (53:38) Today we are together in the tens, because we are organizing the preparation for the Tuesday Morning lesson, what should we do in the tens so the unity will be correct?
R. First of all, don't forget that you need to be as a single heart meaning a single desire, where do you discover that desire. Always be thinking in that direction.
17. S. (53:38) You gave an example of a parent and a child and ....
R. No, the parent let the child go, they set him before him because they see that he's capable of walking and they let him go, they don't hold him all the time.
S. The parent dies one day and no one can support, the child becomes a grown up on his own, how will it happen for us?
R. You first of all begin to take your first baby steps then we will speak, you still don't know what walking means, such an intellectual I don't want to explain. You don't know what it means to take a step forward in spirituality and you're already thinking about the spiritual mother and father, the question is out of place. Think carefully about what you're asking.
18. S. (57:10) Whatever the mind doesn't do time does, this sentence, faith above reason, our emotional perception and the knowledge of wisdom of Kabbalah, this is what shapes us?
R. What the mind doesn't do time does that means that everything comes by the order of the degrees, a person just needs to continue on the path with the group and he will receive what he needs to get, what he deserves by order of degree, cause and effect from here through to the end of correction. The main thing is to connect with the group and then with the group when you annul yourself before the group you advance in your proper pace with the group through to the end of correction.
19. S. (59:01) If in the 10 a question comes up and we want to reach a decision, let's say two friends are against and 8 are in favor, should we follow the majority or wait for the entire 10 to be unanimous?
R. I don't understand this spiritual approach where you do things not as a whole group, what are you talking about, about the daily schedule, something corporeal?
S. Yes, let's say participating with another group in preparation for Sleep where we are deliberating to join another group where two friends say they want to do it in their own group and 8 say they want to do it with the other group.
R. I suppose you are all still not ready to do it together if there are people who are opposed. It's not preferable to advance if the group is not whole with it.
20. S. (01:00:33) To see the 10 as whole is to see the friends as perfect?
R. No, I will never see the friends as perfect, I will see the opposite, but with that I will see that they want to be connected and that they are working together towards the Creator. There is a thing and it's opposite here that appears in the group, each friend is different to the others and seemingly we can't accept him as close to us due to his qualities. Because of his intention to reach the goal, we can see that we are all actually close, each one from his own individual desire not that we will be equals in terms of our wills but it can be with our intentions that we will be.
21. S. (01:01:55) Corporeality gives us all kinds of difficulties so our relations with the Creator seem very personal, how do I operate opposite the Creator, how can the 10 help us to simply devote to the friends?
R. Example, each friend needs to give that to the others even though each one is acting, that it is false, regardless we awaken the others to perform proper actions and so when I act out love and giving, to awake in this society in the direction of connection and the goal I do it as an act, it is a lie but my friends accept it as the truth. So, in them I awaken a true inclination and when they do that I get the same impression from them and that is what we call each one helps his friend.
22. S. (01:03:24) In our 10 we make great efforts to connect, to connect the Creator well beyond the times that we had defined each and every day, by detecting the Creator's actions will it always be from a distance?
R. Usually yes, the actions of the Creator we reveal when we feel ourselves separate, opposite that there is distance between us and we need to ascribe that to the Creator that he is giving us an opportunity to connect in order to discover him between us, to bring him contentment from the closeness between us.
23. S. (01:04:17) When we are rewarded with seeing the disturbances for the first time that are coming from the Creator?
R. When is it for the first time? I don't know what to tell you, it simply appears more and more it's felt we need to pay attention to it also to prepare ourselves for that, that the disturbances come from the Creator alone. That is the meaning of I have created the evil inclination it's not that I have created some unknown state it's rather that I have created the evil inclination and it appears within us each and every moment.
24. S. (01:05:07) Turning to the Creator depends on the general dynamics of the group or there is a correlation between the individual, particular and the general?
R. Both.
25. S. (01:05:33) Where is the limit of discerning in the bad things that I see from the friends, I can see that they are things that come naturally or if they are things that I'm supposed to correct him myself, that these are bad qualities and me where is the boundary between how they should be aware I correct myself?
R. There is no limit you need to correct everything that you see before you until you see everyone connected together.
26. S. (01:06:05) I run to the 10 not out of the fear that I disconnected from it but out of the fear that the Creator arranges for me from the outside, so the intention is not clean that it is egoistic so how do I correct it?
R. Start working in the 10 to connect it together where one's desires are, that is where he is.

R. We are still before the breakthrough as we still need to envision, see our true state and then envision the next date which is on the path to correction.
