Part 2: Baal HaSulam. Introduction to The Book of Zohar. #45
Reader: Item 45 (00:29) “And that light of Nefesh…”
M. Laitman: Questions? None. Okay, next.
Reader: Item 46 (02:04) “Bear in mind that although…”
Student: (05:25) When he says that there is no difference between the Sefirot from the top of AK to the bottom of Assiya. What is this Sefira? I thought there was a difference.
M. Laitman: Sefira comes from the word, Sefir, that it shines. The Sefira shines according to the light that passes through her to the extent that she is in equivalence of form or change with Him.
Student: But the lights are different, right?
M. Laitman: The lights aren’t different.
Student: They're not?
M. Laitman: No.
Student: What does it mean that it covers? It says that it covers, or it covers the light?
M. Laitman: It wraps it, it is better to say that.
Student: (06:20) What is so dangerous about the light that it needs covers and diminutions and decreasing?
M. Laitman: That you will not receive it in order to receive because it will cause a shattering.
Student: We learn that it's impossible to receive the light in order to receive, meaning if I want, even if I want to, I won't be able to.
M. Laitman: That is the whole thing, if you will want it.
Student: What would happen if the vessel wanted the light in order to receive and received it? What would happen, why is it so terrible?
M. Laitman: A shattering.
Student: What is a shattering?
M. Laitman: That the vessel shatters.
Student: What does it mean? If I don't want to imagine it as a broken vessel, what breaks?
M. Laitman: The desire breaks, it wants to receive in order to receive, and it cannot, and you have to perform many actions in order to correct it, and fill it with the light that used to be in it in order to bestow.
Student: We, in our world, in the process from below upwards, we've passed the breaking, the breaking happened already?
M. Laitman: Right.
Student: So, what is the fear of receiving the light, we're broken already, so?
M. Laitman: No, no, no, it is not that we are broken and there is nothing to do. We have to watch out for ourselves and correct ourselves in order to receive the light in order to bestow.
Student: Because if not, what would happen to us, that's what I'm not getting. What would be the terrible result if we received the light not in the right way?
M. Laitman: The light that is entirely to bestow will enter the desire, the Kli that is in order to receive, and because of the disparity of form between them, because of the contradiction between them, there will be a shattering.
Student: Then the desire that was in order to receive, what would happen to it?
M. Laitman: That desire in order to receive that was entirely a vessel, it will break.
Student: I get it. The desire to be a vessel is like a degree above simply a desire. Then the light that would enter it in order to, would be opposite from it? It would break it and turn it into something that is not a vessel?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: What is a desire that is not a vessel?
M. Laitman: That is not destined to be a vessel because it is broken.
Student: When we begin our path, we are in that state, right? A desire that is still not a vessel, right?
M. Laitman: Right.
Student: The connection between us and the work we do creates a vessel?
M. Laitman: We want to make one vessel for all of us together in order to receive the light in order to bestow. So, from us being in order to bestow a bit, one towards the other, and we want to help each other, so from that, we gradually come close to the ability to bestow, one towards the other, between us.
Student: When the Ten connects in the first stage, will there be ten Sefirot in this vessel or will it be one Sefira or something, I don't know, greater?
M. Laitman: When we all connect we will be as ten Sefirot.
Student: Right now, I'm talking about the Ten, we're working in Tens. When the Ten connects for the first time into a degree, it becomes a vessel, like you explained. Will that vessel have ten Sefirot, already, or will it be one Sefirot out of something bigger?
M. Laitman: It cannot be one Sefira because there is no one nature. It will have ten Sefirot that they will need to come closer to one another.
Student: (10:39) Let's say the Ten connected, first degree, that's called the world of Assiya, that the light can be revealed in?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: It's revealed, and it's called the light of Nefesh.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: What is the light of Nefesh?
M. Laitman: A Nefesh, resting.
Student: What does that mean?
M. Laitman: It does not have its own movement, it was allowed to enter the vessel and fill it.
Student: What does the vessel feel towards that light?
M. Laitman: The vessel feels, in this light, that it has a feeling of, how should I put it? Very, very small, like apathetic, indifferent.
Student: The light of Nefesh, what is it, an expression of the Creator?
M. Laitman: The light of Nefesh is an expression of the vessel that feels the light in this way.
Student: (12:02) I heard you say that the state of the world, or our nation, that the Creator comes down, and we feel pressure or suffering from the Creator coming closer to us. The vessel, or the world, isn't prepared, yet, so how does it work with this description we just read?
M. Laitman: Here it talks about states where we must correct the desires of the Sefirot, connect them, and adjust them to the Upper Light so it can bestow upon them, meaning so it can clothe in them.
Student: If the desires aren't corrected, yet, and there's a need from the system that they will be corrected because there's time?
M. Laitman: So, they need to be corrected.
Student: What happens then? In that state, the light doesn't come because the desires aren't corrected?
M. Laitman: Of course it is not, it doesn't come.
Student: Because you're describing that it comes in a negative way.
M. Laitman: That, too, is possible.
Student: There’s a difference between those descriptions?
M. Laitman: There is a difference, there is this way and there is that way.
Student: But if it's a system.
M. Laitman: I am not going to go with your intellect, now.
Student: But the feeling of the world, does the world feel a lack of light?
M. Laitman: The world will feel what it needs to feel, just understand that. We will learn it, it is not that simple.
Student: Technically, if I can ask, it's as if there's no opposite relation between lights and vessels here, right? Malchut gets Nefesh, the smallest light?
M. Laitman: That is how it should be. Bit by bit, we'll get used to it. There is room for everyone.
Student: (14:14) A Sefira is light and vessel so where is the concealment here? The Sefira reveals, it doesn't conceal.
M. Laitman: A Sefira reveals the light that can shine in it.
Student: Where is the concealment when we say, on behalf of the Creator, there is a concealment.
M. Laitman: From the perspective of the Creator, there is concealment and the Sefira reveals the light that it can reveal.
Student: We know that in the light, there are no divisions or cuts, so how can the vessel only reveal a part of the light and the light doesn't only present a part of itself?
M. Laitman: The vessel can reveal a part of the light as much as it can, and that is how the light is revealed.
Student: When the light works towards that Sefira, it also presents only a part of itself, what does it mean that there are no divisions in the light?
M. Laitman: There are no divisions, no pieces, no parts, no breaking in the light.
Student: Why can't the Sefira reveal the whole light, let's say?
M. Laitman: It does not have the screen that is suitable for it.
Student: The light that works on the Sefira, so what, it works partially?
M. Laitman: It wants to fill up the whole Sefira with itself but it is impossible, there is no equivalence between them.
Student: Now a person that wants to reveal the light, he must reach an incorporation of ten Sefirot, he has to complete the ten Sefirot. That's a condition for him to be in contact with the light, he has to be incorporated?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: Let's say, if we want to be in connection with the light, we constantly have to be incorporated in one another?
M. Laitman: Yes, of course.
Student: If we disconnect, so we need to renew our incorporation between us, constantly incorporate and incorporate?
M. Laitman: Yes, yes.
Student: (16:40) Who causes the shattering?
M. Laitman: The light causes the shattering.
Student: Why doesn't the Creator protect us from the shattering? Why does He want?
M. Laitman: Because it is according to His plan.
Student: How many shatterings do we have to go through?
M. Laitman: There was only one shattering, only once. The shattering has to happen in order for us to know, to feel, to detect the difference. The oppositeness, contradiction between the light and the vessel.
Student: The Creator, through His control, the Creator is controlling my prayer, right?
M. Laitman: The Creator controls your prayer?
Student: Yes, so in the prayer, suddenly, if suddenly my desire moves to the quality of reception. If I'm in the quality of bestowal, I ask for the friends that the Creator will find joy in them, and suddenly my desire moves to the other side.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: That will cause the shattering, right?
M. Laitman: Put it this way, yes.
Student: So, why doesn't the Creator protect us from that?
M. Laitman: Because then you will see, through the shattering, that you are opposite from the Creator, from the light, and what you need to correct in order for it not to happen again.
Student: A moment ago, I didn't want to correct, I wanted to draw the light for the friends, for the Creator to enjoy. Now, I'm picking up, I'm picking up pieces. I'm picking up pieces of the system of creation and I don't understand.
M. Laitman: The Creator wants to reveal all the corruptions that are in creation so the created beings will understand what needs to be corrected. He does it, Himself.
Student: He is putting all the corruptions in me.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: He puts me in America, like the source of corruption.
M. Laitman: The Creator is the source of all the corruptions.
Student: Also the refinement, the purity.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: He didn't put purity in me, he put corruptions in me.
M. Laitman: Right, He, Himself says.
Student: How long do I have to reveal these corruptions?
M. Laitman: The Creator says, I have created the evil inclination. That is it, He's telling you,. I have created the evil inclination, I have created the Torah as a spice.
Student: I don't want it.
M. Laitman: It does not matter, He did not ask you.
Student: I want something else.
M. Laitman: I understand, I understand you but the Creator does not ask you.
Student: Why does He take my prayer away again and again?
M. Laitman: So that the prayer will develop, more and more.
Student: What benefit can I give the Creator with my prayer? Why am I here if I have no prayer?
M. Laitman: Ask Him.
Student: I can't ask without a prayer, I'm asking every lesson to wake up to a prayer. Why don't I have a prayer, give me a prayer, give me. Still, I didn't find what I can contribute to society, so what's happening? I want to be dead in everything, it's disgusting. If there is no, I just want to attain a prayer, I don't need wisdom or anything. I just want to attain a prayer that the friends and the whole world, and the Creator, will all enjoy, that there will be one system. But again and again, I was asleep, I fell asleep, I want Him to awaken me.
M. Laitman: No, no, on the contrary, He is putting you to sleep.
Student: Right, He's putting me to sleep. Right.
M. Laitman: He is. No.
Student: Okay, it's enough. it's enough, just wake me up. Wake up the whole, put the system together as one, permanently. Let it be a single vessel for His contentment already, I mean, let there be this desire to bestow over the desire to receive. Why is it, like again, again, again? It's enough, right? That's enough for me to decide, obviously.
M. Laitman: This guy is doing all our work, he is speaking for all of us. Very good. Are there a lot more people like you in America?
Student: In America, I hope so. There are friends in the States. My desire before this Ten, the other Tens, the group of Petah Tikva, my desire came from the friends from America.
M. Laitman: Clear.
Student: Finally, when will the result happen? This desire came from Russia, this desire came from Australia, Africa, from the whole world. The whole world is in my desire but I'm only corrupted again and again, and the corruptions are still coming,
M. Laitman: Yes, maybe in another twenty years, something will be corrected.
Student: Twenty? Isn't there like a year or another year, another day, another day, but the Creator can correct everything if He wants, and I want Him to do it. The whole world is in me, so why isn't there peace around the world? Why do I hate everything outside of me, it's enough.
M. Laitman: Go to a lawyer and sue Him.
Student: Sue the lawyer,? Oh, sue the Creator?
M. Laitman: What is the problem?
Student: You can't win. He's the judge, it's corrupt, the judge and the jury. How to win a chess game if the source of all my thoughts, it's impossible. My sons have defeated Me, I want Him to win, how to participate in it?
M. Laitman: We will search together. No, it really burns in him but I have nothing to answer. All in all, what we need is to submit ourselves, surrender before the Creator, to bow our heads, and to accept the higher Governance, that is it. We are still living in a very good time. Since the time of the first ones to the time of the last ones, living well, not suffering blows. There is, our life is more or less organized, but it is not, it is not simple. I understand you. Why are you looking at me? What am I, I, too, cannot do anything, no one can. But what we need to do is to agree and be thankful.
Student: (30:52)To continue the corruptions that are revealed, we heard in the convention that each one who's sitting here is incorporated with billions. Also, in humanity there are a lot of very unpleasant states and blows. Now, humanity are the billions that are getting the blows, and the only ones who can somehow make the situation better is a small group that is here studying in the morning, here in the world.
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: How do those little movements in the Ten, let's say something is revealed between us and we overcome it. We somehow cover it with love and prayer, how does that affect what's happening in those billions in that big mass of humanity? What's the connection between these things?
M. Laitman: Not a problem. What are you connecting these billions to our groups?
Student: Let's say now there are very difficult blows, also the people of Israel are receiving very strong blows. Let's say now in the Ten, two friends were able to cover some abyss of hate that was revealed between them and they succeeded somehow to overcome it, to hold strong and overcome. How will that help that big mass of humanity or our nation that is getting the blows, how will it make the state better?
M. Laitman: It will make the situation better.
Student: How? Why?
M. Laitman: To the extent that we overcome above our egos and want to connect. By this, we influence the whole world to, also, slightly change its attitude toward connection, and in this way we gradually approach correction.
Student: So every little movement here between us continues onward?
M. Laitman: Very much so, yes.
Student: Another small question from a friend: How to protect friends, that a friend won't be able to leave the ten too easily?
M. Laitman: I do not know, I will tell you only what I saw with Rabash. He was so against, so objected, to anyone who wanted to leave, that he would think what he can do to help change his approach. He, because a person simply stops, ends his spiritual development, He does not know that even we, who feel ourselves as so small and corrupted and dirty and all that. We cannot even appreciate how, even by this, we are still high and good.
Student: Can we say that towards, let's say, a friend that wants to leave. Everything is possible to do on him in order to bring him back?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: No matter what we do, as long as he comes back? Yes.
Student: (34:48) You said to a friend, that if a Ten connects it affects the whole world on the outside.
M. Laitman: Yes?
Student: If a friend suddenly shows a corruption to everyone, is there something that every friend in the Ten needs to correct inside him, too?
M. Laitman: He needs to feel within him how much it is also in him, that quality, and he should correct it as much as he can, and likewise everyone. And then he will be able to thank that friend for representing the general corruption in them.
Student: You said that on the degree of Nefesh, it's like an apathetic sort of connection. Like, anything but leave sustained from above. Let's say there's a strong convention and afterwards each one feels himself again as something, like, open.
M. Laitman: Well, that is not natural.
Student: So, this everything but leave and spiritual advancement?
M. Laitman: Yes.
Student: How can the Ten put a no-exit sign? Everything is clarified inside and even if the friends feel they want to kill each other, they don't leave. They search for a way.
M. Laitman: To get stronger.
Student: Is there a way?
M. Laitman: Yes, there is, you simply understand that this is how it needs to be. That this is the result of the ascent and descent, and it has to be this way in every situation, and we respect it.
Student: Is there some form that the Creator is teaching us? That we have to learn it because every next state will also be conducted in such a way, otherwise, we won't ascend?
M. Laitman: You will see how he will be inspired by these ascents and descents. Inspired. It is like a playground, ups and downs, ups and downs, yes.
Question (Women Rehovot): (37:39) How can a person awaken a deficiency for the importance to pray to the Creator throughout the whole day?
M. Laitman: I do not know. I think that we have to aim ourselves toward Him, toward the Creator and then see how only this puts order in us, elevates us, brings us closer. This is how we advance. I am actually happy about such lessons and how we're going through them. We need only to, each one needs to dig within himself and bring out as much trash as possible, and this is how we will advance.
