Reading Item 11 “ Now we have found a way to examine the purpose of creation..” twice
1. S. (04:11) How could it be that something can happen to us that doesn't exist in our root or it’s just a matter of feeling?
R. Again, I did not understand.
S. He writes here in the second item second paragraph that what happens to us but doesn't exist in our root is intolerable. How can something happen to us which is not in our root?
R. It's not a question. Our root is the opposite of us. You can even ask differently, how is it possible that if our root is entirely to receive, to bestow, sorry that our root is entirely to bestow and we are reception so we are opposite of the root, so we need to be entirely in oppositeness of form to the root, it's constant ongoing terrible pain. So why don't we feel ourselves that way if we are opposite of the Creator? That's what you should ask about.
S. Why don't we feel opposite to the Creator? We'd rather feel that we're kind of where we’re misaligned but we don't feel it like that.
R. That's where the Creator goes to give us the opportunity to exist in concealment and to slowly slowly discover to what extent we're opposite of Him, and to the extent that we need to change in order to be similar to Him and then to come to that same perfection that He is in.
S. The issue is opposite, the being opposite to the root, but it exists in the root. He's asking where Baal HaSulam writes here that what happens to us but doesn't exist in our root, that's the question, how can that be?
R. In our root there is no will to receive that’s the problem. That is why we feel ourselves in the will to receive in a bad negative way. That is all, and to the extent that we get rid of the will to receive, we begin to feel the nature of our root of the light and then we begin to feel the state called goodness. Is that clear? If it's not clear it will be soon.
2. S. (08:00) I cannot feel that our only hope is equivalence of form with the Creator. Who actually feels that the person who gets forward in the study?
R. Yes, when we discover that our root is the Creator and only in connecting to Him we'll have the forces of bestowal these forces of salvation and then by that we begin to be attracted to the root.
3. S. (08:54) Is there only one root or there are different kinds of roots?
R. No. One root that’s the will to bestow to the Creator from which He brings us down in the opposite way but within us together with this birth there is a seed, what we call the point in the heart, that we can evolve and reach the same state as the Creator Himself.
4. S. (09:45) Are we supposed to be drawn more toward the Creator or the group?
R. We need to be drawn to the group in order to reach the Creator, that is called from love of others to love of the Creator.
5. S. (10:20) The question is this, I have basically two questions, maybe I can ask them first. When you answer the questions of our friends you answer very concretely, the way it's asked that's how you answer, and also you don't go into the matter that possibly when the friend is asking the question he is looking at things from his own qualities. So to what extent is the answer correct that way?
R. I don't know.
S. Let's say a friend asks you, I think that something is so and so and so and then the answer is yes, that's what needs to happen but the thing is that he sees things this way and then it comes out as some sort of a distortion, like the answer is not aligned with the truth.
R. Why do you suppose?
S. A concrete question, what is criticism? In the ten if a friend expresses his view on something and other friends are calling it criticism, left line, you're not supportive, you're not saying “way to go,” so what is criticism, is it a useful quality?
R. Depends when and where.
S. Yesterday my friend asked you in the group chat we have, I wrote that I disagree that some of the friends express themselves against our guidelines. I asked the managers to fix it and they told me you're criticizing, so what am I supposed to keep quiet? If I see that we are going against what we've decided, and we're moving towards the goal, we have guidelines we've decided on them we've agreed upon them, and if I see if I see someone breaking a rule is that criticism?
R. That is talking without any purpose, we cannot determine anything here. Each one finds in the same words, different interpretation and therefore we will not reach any scrutiny. The main thing is that each one will scrutinize for himself the conditions of Baal HaSulam to reach the truth, the truth is one, it is the Creator the relation of the Creator to people when we reach that then there will no longer be all kinds of disagreements and we'll see that we are all in one truth. Until we reach that, constantly having terrible wars and nothing good will come out of these scrutinies. So let's engage in corrections and corrections with good spirits and mutual support, even if something is not to my liking, still with mutual support otherwise we will bring ourselves to a state that we will just simply disappear.
6. S. (14:25) In item one of item 11 it says the pleasure is only at the equivalence of form with the maker. When we equalize in every conduct with our root we sense delight. The question is to what extent can we experience this delight corporeally in our ten when in Dvekut with the root? To what extent can we experience this delight corporeally in the ten when in Dvekut with the root? Is this a measure of our Dvekut?
R. Yes, to the extent of our adhesion we reach the feeling of the root, the feeling of pleasure, and if we reach the complete adhesion between us, then we reach the opening of our Kli completely without any limit and receiving pleasure in our entire Kli.
7. S. (15:40) It's also clear we learned that the Creator created the will to receive and not the will to bestow, so why is the will to bestow our root?
R. Because it is the quality of the Creator in which we were born and the quality of reception created in us artificially, so that from the opposite quality we will be able to receive to feel the quality of bestowal from which we were created.
S. What's the difference between light and Keter?
R. Keter is the Kli and the light is the force that comes from the Keter.
8. S. (17:02) We've learned that our nature is completely a will to receive and in an order to invert that will to receive our work is with the intention. In this article we've just read, what is the process in order to come back to our root, meaning what are we supposed to work on?
R. We need to work on the essence of our action that what I do will always be for the benefit of the others and that either I receive or I bestow it doesn't matter, all in all I have two directions which I can act in either I am giving or I am receiving, so with these two I need to have the intention to bestow upon the others. Either I bestow by receiving or I bestow by giving.
9. S. (18:30) Our root comes from the soul of Adam HaRashon or the Creator Himself?
R. Our root is the soul of Adam HaRishon.
S. Suffering and pleasure comes from the way in which we relate to this point of attraction to the root?
R. Yes.
10. S. (19:05) During the study of Kabbalah hobbies and old pleasures they lose their meaning and disappear but you still don't feel the connection to your root and then there's a vacuum. Is that a natural state? Should you fill it with something or just be in it?
R. You need to try and fulfill this vacuum with warm attitude towards the friends, that is the safest possible action for attaining the goal.
11. S. (19:56) I've been asking you the same question for the last 20 years and you’re not answering or it’s hard for me to accept it but I’ll ask again. He said regarding the matters that are not in our root this concept becomes intolerable, disgusting, or consider very painful to us, as is necessitated by that concept. I always asked you why on the path, even though it's good and does good and all that, why do we suffer so much? Why is it the need to suffer so much? What is it about?
R. In order for you to understand what true goodness is.
S. Suffering, it's not clear.
R. You are not suffering. The Creator gave us conditions to change our vessels from reception to bestowal and then we won't have to go through the actual states, that we will need to suffer, but instead He gives us only the understanding that receiving is bad and bestowing is good. That is what we study.
S. Okay, but it tells you that our very hope depends on the extent of our equivalence of form with our root.
R. Yes, that is what we learned. To equalize ourselves to the Creator is good and to be opposite of Him is bad.
S. Why do we need to suffer in a way that we don't have equivalence of form? We see how difficult it is 20, 30 years we cannot achieve it and we suffer on the path. I don't understand why do we need to suffer so much? There’s no equivalence of form.
R. Because you don't want to do what He's telling you to do. What you hear from Baal HaSulam you don't do it so what do you want from me?
S. What am I not doing? I come to the lesson everyday, we sit and study all of us with you, zoom meetings, whatever you want we do it.
R. That is called that he who flaws does it through his own flaws.
S. I'm guessing it's all on myself or what?
R. You need to at least try to do what the Kabbalists tell you.
S. What actually is the title? What do we actually need to do to achieve that?
R. To try and be in bestowal towards the others towards the friends.
S. So why is it so hard to do it?
R. It’s not. You're just not trying correctly.
S. So tell me, what am I not trying? Can you define it? What am I not trying properly, maybe just once and for all.
R. Let's say you come to some workplace and you’re told in this workplace we are going to connect. You have ten people like you workers and they came to work and the reward that you'll get will be in connection, that's all. Go ahead, start connecting.
S. So the problem is in me and not blaming anyone I'm the only one to blame.
R. You and also each and every one of them they all need to exert in order to connect.
S. To nullify which is the most difficult, you always have to nullify.
R. Well, what can you do, that’s the work. You came to a certain factory and that is to work, you're told this is your ten your group and you need with them together to connect.
S. So why is it so difficult for me to nullify toward this? It's not normal, why is it so difficult for me to nullify if it's so simple what is my problem?
R. Because you are not going to your shift manager and asking for strength for work from Him, strength for connection.
S. So basicallyI have to ask the Creator to help me, that’s the light that reforms.
R. Yes.
S. Now I understood, I’m serious now I understood.
R. Now you understood and tomorrow you'll say differently, that is what is needed.
12. S. (25:14) Baal HaSulam says here in the beginning to cling on to Him. Can you open it up a little bit?
R. To cling onto Him means that I want to adhere to the Creator to receive from Him all his qualities, as much as possible, which they're all qualities of love and bestowal and that is called to adhere to Him.
S. He continues and says that we need to resemble our root, and in item nine he says that we have roots that we like the rest because we resemble the root which is in complete rest. The thing is, how do I know when I need to act and when I need to not do anything? How to examine the roots?
R. If you're capable of doing the act of bestowal do it and if you're not capable then then don't do anything, stop yourself, and under no circumstances don't go towards reception only towards bestowal.
S. How do I know to go in the direction of reception if it's somewhere in my root?
R. In your root but you don't want to be in it because in the connection with your friends you're trying to be above from doing the actions of reception and that is how you help one another.
13. S. (27:10) What does it mean to do for the benefit of others with the intention to the Creator?
R. Towards the others with the intention for the Creator is that everything that I want to do for the Creator I have no way, no ability to do it directly to the Creator, he doesn't have any deficiency, but I can do all of the goodness that I can to all of His created beings, and the created beings are His, and if I do good to them it's like I'm doing good to the Creator. Let’a say a mother and her child, so whatever I do to her young child it’s as if I'm doing goodness to the mother.
S. But a mother and her child is within nature, no?
R. No, that doesn't matter, but I'm outside of nature. I do goodness to the mother and her child and the Creator because the well-being of the mother and the child, it's not in my nature, so then I can do something that doesn't belong to my nature but that it belongs to the upper nature.
S. So I'm asking what's the difference between doing for the sake of others, which is within nature, and doing for the sake of others which is above nature?
R. Doing for the others within nature is that I understand and see that if I will do this it will be good for the child, good for the mother, and she'll treat me good. To do for the others above nature is that I don't see the direct connection between my action and the others and my action to the mother in general toward all of humanity, I don't necessarily see it, but I still expect of doing goodness to the mother.
S. So where's the intention here for the Creator?
R. That behind the mother is the Creator, behind all of the created beings and if I do go to them that I'm doing good to the Creator.
14. S. (30:04) The friend wants to make it really clear, what does it mean to do nothing if I cannot bestow?
R. If I cannot bestow then I have nothing to do. I stop myself, I enter Tzimtzum until I’ll have the strength to bestow and until then I'm under restriction.
S. Yes, not to incorporate with the ten?
R. No, I have to be included with the ten and I don't want to exit the ten ever, I never want to do it, but to the extent that I connect to them I search by what relations to them I will be able to bestow upon the Creator through them.
S. But if in that state a person is integrated can he harm the ten? Can he see they're angry and say something negative?
R. But still he wants to connect with them, he's fighting himself and even with a Creator with everyone, but he doesn't see that he's in such a state he doesn't see the way of how to connect with everyone, it's a special state.
15. S. (32:13) We talked about the rejection that we feel towards things that don't come from the root. Is shame the means the Creator uses to help us come to the opposite form to an independent desire?
R. Yes you could say that.
16. S. (32:53) What does it mean outside of nature outside the ten?
R. Outside of nature and outside of the ten is outside of the ten because it's outside of connection between the created beings that want according to the law of creation to be aimed at the connection between you and that the Creator will be revealed in the center of connection.
17. S. (33:35) In my nature it's very hard for me to connect with people I see it on the outside and even helping that's impossible. My question is in my study as I advance this will change?
R. Yes, of course everything changes as a result of the study, but you need patience another day another day can be a few years, but still influences a person. There's no such thing that the upper light doesn't influence, it influences a person and then he will come out towards the quality of bestowal and he'll start feeling that there is such a thing as the quality of bestowal.
S. How will it look like that I will be more active towards the outside or more in thought?
R. I don't think there's really such a big difference here between action and the thought because every thought is also an action but it doesn't matter.
S. So it will be both?
R. Yes.
