Part 1: Baal HaSulam. The Last Generation.

Reader: Hello, we are reading from the “Writings of Baal HaSulam" The “Writings of the Last Generation,” starting with the title, A Regime Cannot Exist on Spears Forever. You can find the study material on kabbalahgroup.info and in the Arvut system, you can ask your questions there, and selected questions will be asked during the lesson here in the study hall. Anyone who wants to ask, to stand up, hold the mic close to his mouth and speak loudly and clearly before we start reading.

Reader: (00:35) We want to say to all the friends around the world, before we are entering the study of The Last Generation. There was a question: If we should continue to study it or not, there were all kinds of complaints. We want to first raise the importance for learning from the writings of a Kabbalist, Baal HaSulam, he chose to write this way, he chose to use these words. And we have the privilege of studying this with our teacher, to go over texts that we haven't gone through in, maybe 20 years. To delve into them. Not to apply them and realize these words tomorrow and build a commune, a Kibbutz, or Kolkhoz in Russian. Rather, our goal is to study the gap between where we are and the description of the Last Generation by Baal HaSulam theoretically, emotionally, see where we are relative to that. And not to carry out any action. But to ask and scrutinize and deepen our exploration into the heart and the mind of the Kabbalists. And maybe also to ask you Rav, how do you relate to these texts?

M. Laitman: I am familiar with these writings for decades now. When I came to Rabash, I didn't hear about it, and no one heard, and knew that there are such writings. Later on, when Rabash passed away, a little before that also, but mostly after Rabash passed away, and I came to his archive. Then I saw how Baal HaSulam invested in that, in what is the society, what is the world? The connection between people that has to prevail in the future and so forth.

And so, when I saw that, when I read that, I basically started asking Rabash. It's a great asset that we have because we are always looking forward to where we are headed. Where is humanity headed, what does humanity understand? And we see some are starting a war and others want something else, and everyone is in some development. And what is that development that should be desired, and what is not desired as development in our time? Therefore, we started studying the writings of the Last Generation. Studying is, at least, to go through it, we don't really understand it. But like in school, where there's, say, history or geography or other things, that we don't need to actually practice the same day. But we learn it in order to have a background and what was prepared for us, in that case, is people who may not understand so much. But here, there is a Kabbalist who sees the nature of the world and how human nature agrees with it or not. I received a lot from reading these writings for the first time. Therefore, we're also in a time where the whole world is in kind of like a pot that is on the fire and what's in it is simmering. We see how from day to day there are so many great changes in the world. And so, I think we have to review this once, go through it and that something will be left in us in terms of some impression, some inspiration in our mind and heart from these writings; that's what I think. Rabash talked about it rarely, very rarely. In those times, there weren't any indications of things that are changing. Everything was very sort of stable and hadn’t heard or read from any media outlet, like what's happening today where history is on the news, in the media. So, it's worthwhile for us to see where it's all headed and perhaps we're not going to see this now. But the trajectory is certain, the direction is certainly moving in this general direction of development that Baal HaSulam describes.

To a Kabbalist it seems as if, obvious what is happening, and therefore when we become incorporated with what he writes. We think that it is going to materialize in our time, some disagree, some yes, some don't see any development in our time that matches what Baal HaSulam says. So, on that, we have to still be ready to discuss and be ready for it because the wise is the one who sees the future outcome, one who can see the sprouts, so to speak. As the Zohar writes, that begins from that, that the sprouts have been seen in the land. Meaning that everything begins from something new that emerges, that's it. So, we have to do this, I understand that perhaps we are somewhat sick of it maybe, or somewhat we can't see how this is happening today. Or we can't identify what is happening in front of us today, but let's feel that through all these texts, we receive contact with Baal HaSulam that is filled with knowledge and force, and it's worthwhile. It's worthwhile for us, what he writes is after all very pertinent, and we can see from day to day how everything could take on a new direction in our development; therefore, let's study it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (10:28) The word Communism is a key word in this text. On the other hand, it's also a highly charged word these days because it's associated with the past times. How to interpret communism correctly according to Baal HaSulam?

M. Laitman: We read, and we perhaps can really take on the form of that society, that regime that we call communism. It says that a generation must arise, that that will be the name of it, I don't think that the names will be changed or something. People will realize that this is where we're headed, this is what we're going for and it's called communism. Now, how is that Communism connected to what we think of Communism, or what we refer to as communism, I don't think that's going to be similar to it whatsoever.

Reader: There are suggestions from friends, maybe, to change this word, rewrite it?

M. Laitman: We have to study what we have and here we also have to learn why these words were chosen, why we keep them. We don't understand what is this true form of regime that will take place in the future. But I think that there's no choice, the world takes on all kinds of forms and that happens through pressures, inside and out. And we will see how we change through these pressures and what form we take on and then we'll see why it's so, there are many reasons to that. And what's most important is to include that, to study that, see that future form that whether we want it or not it's becoming realized. And Rabash also talked about it, but rarely, just here and there in short sentences. Back then, that was very non-existent, not, unnatural. Today, however, you can say that humanity will at some point detach from all of the, seemingly, forms of Communism that it built before. All kinds of those cooperative forms and then we'll start moving to a state of a commune that is as one man in one heart through connection and love, and that will become realistic at some point. So, we should nevertheless study it so that it's placed within us to some extent. And that we'll have some connection to what Baal HaSulam wrote. And we don't want to try to turn that into something that we realize, no, God forbid. Because we have to try and understand how this could be, and when. That’s it, it's certainly not, that doesn't mean that we're going to go into some Kibbutz or some specific regime or some sort of a cooperative thing of some form, no. We're just studying the future of the world in a way that is not making us commit to it in anything, but we just realize that this is the direction of where things are headed. And then we'll better understand how things unfold and what is actually happening to all of us. Perhaps we don't see it yet because it has to appear after several years of development; and in that development, whenever something appears, it appears in a way that's opposite to what should have been before, and ultimately we'll see it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (16:29) It may be worth mentioning that all the examples of Communism that you saw thus far are negative examples, or in other words, how it should not be done. And Baal HaSulam describes what's mine is mine, what's yours is yours. If we build this state, it creates true communism that demands the correction of a man.

M. Laitman: We don't build it based on our understanding, it cannot be built. Rather it has to become revealed from above by the upper force, and we just have to be ready for all developments in that direction. From the perspective of the modern society and the society that will arise in the future, that's what we need to know. Therefore, try to understand what's going to happen, what are we aiming ourselves towards? It is said, the wise sees the future outcome, meaning, that we will see what has to be born out of our vessel.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (18:18) Following these things, I feel a great debt to thank you from the bottom of my heart. That you are opening this up again and teaching us the “Writings of the Last Generation” again. Personally, that's what saved my life and brought me to this holy society. Any friend that doubts anything, it's a prophetic text and it's important that we read it and understand it. Thank you Rav, it's a prophecy.

M. Laitman: Yes, it's not politics, it's not psychology or any of that, it's literal Kabbalah. Meaning, a person who is in spiritual development, a few steps ahead of all humanity, he explains to us. And, in such a way, that he also leaves us room in the study so that we will know where we're headed.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (19:27) You touched on a very important point, I think. When you said that through these texts, we will discover our roots. Which roots will we discover because it's felt that simply we're losing something along the way, the whole people, the nation, that state we were in where we forgot where we came from, who we are. So, from these scrutinies, I feel like yesterday everything we felt, it was a great lesson yesterday, the scrutiny was amazing. And I'm saying, how through drawing the light by scrutinizing these texts of Baal HaSulam, what should we discover? What roots are we supposed to discover?

M. Laitman: We have to discover the roots of the forces that work upon us, and guide us, lead us, toward a state where we unite with the Creator. Altogether, it is as it says, return all the way up to God, this is our path, and that's what we're realizing.

Student: Meaning everything that has to guide us is with the Creator, it has to be between us, each and every moment.

M. Laitman: Of course, of course, all of our study is how to understand the changes that the Creator does within us. So, let's begin, I just wanted to say these few words, so that we know that what we're reading is, after all, Baal HaSulam’s attainment of human development.

Reader: (21:31) The “Writings of the Last Generation,” as part of the “Writings of Baal HaSulam,” we're in part one, subheading: A Regime Cannot Exist on Spears Forever, item 12.

Reading: (21:45) A Regime Cannot Exist on Spears Forever. Item 12.

Communism does not exist over an anti-communist society because a regime supported on bayonets and spears is unsustainable. Eventually, the majority in society will prevail and overthrow that government. Hence, an altruistic communist majority must be established first, and the government will be supported on will.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (22:28) What desire is he speaking of?

M. Laitman: The desire of society.

Student: What desire do we aspire to arrive, the desire of common deficiency but that's following what we said earlier. What the Creator has given us, all these changes along the way, is that the desire we need to feel each time?

M. Laitman: We need to change to the point of the desire that he describes, which is a society where everyone feels the others as connected to them. And one is willing to work and provide them with everything they need. Such a society is, essentially, a kind of commune where everyone holds each other and the Creator dwells among them. And then all of their spiritual life will be felt through their corporeal life.

Student: So, the desire for connection where we will be as one; each one realizes the Arvut between us?

M. Laitman: Yes, that's especially the connection between everyone, and in that connection we'll discover our root, who we are, and connection with the Creator and adhesion with the upper force, and so forth. Also, we have to understand that Baal HaSulam wrote this in a very succinct way, and he had no other choice. He didn't want to go into explanations, on the one hand; and on the other hand, he wanted to clarify these points to us.

Reading: (24:36) The Habit of Waves of Hatred and Envy Will Later Turn Against the Stragglers. Item 13.

Communism that is built on waves of hatred and envy will only succeed in overthrowing the bourgeois, but not in benefiting the stragglers. On the contrary, the same ones that have grown accustomed to hatred and envy will turn the arrows of hatred against the stragglers once the bourgeois are gone.

M. Laitman: Again.

Re-Reading: The Habit of Waves of Hatred and Envy Will Later Turn Against the Stragglers.

M. Laitman: That's understood.

Reading: (26:00) Egoistic Communism Will Always Be at War with the Public. Item 14.

By its very nature, the communist regime will be compelled to always be at war with the anti-communists. This is because each person naturally tends to be possessive. People naturally tend to take the cream and leave the meager whey for others.

Nature does not change by education or public opinion. It is unimaginable that one will ever willingly agree to just division, and army bayonets cannot invert nature, much less education and public opinion.

Naturally born idealists are few. If you should say that theft and robbery are well guarded in the capitalist regime, I shall tell you that it is because the law permits legal competition. It is comparable to a person who gathers a society where the majority is murderers and robbers, and he wants to rule over them and compel them to keep the law. But regarding the annulment of property, everyone is a robber.

M. Laitman: In short, we're all thieves.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (27:54) How will this war happen, what he speaks about here? He calls it anti-Communists, what is this war?

M. Laitman: Meaning that there will be forces in favor and against in society, and they will all sustain each other through war. And thus, a generation will arise which is called egoistic Communism.

Student: Altruistic?

M. Laitman: Egoistic Communism, and the public will realize that in such a way they can be only in an inner struggle, a war between each other inside society. So, all together, they'll feel what needs to be the right result, how to come out of that. And thus, egoistic Communism will carry itself out, for a while, and then it will fall, and then it will fall. We don't need to think that this is far away from us, all in all, we just have to understand what's going on today. And see that all of the socialist countries, they are essentially those who have to examine the path.

Student: Here in this paragraph if I heard correctly, he says that altruistic Communism has to be in a constant state of war. He explains that this tendency to give up one's possessions is something that the ego will never agree to. There will be an inner war, constantly. How will this internal war take place, who will manage it? The regime, the reforming light, what is this war?

M. Laitman: That we'll have to read. But certainly, the regime will manage the war in influencing all of the public to reach new qualities, new form. And then they'll be at an inner war with themselves.

Student: It will be an internal war that's not simply going to be in the regime, or between countries. But each one within himself and the forces that pull him outside?

M. Laitman: Yes, we start there.

Student: And how do you see, if at all the connection, even though it's not about materializing it. But if you see the state of Israel today, you see that there's a war about the connection between people: those who wish to separate and tear apart, and those who somehow are trying to hold on to what unites us and connects us. There's also a sense of struggle, here.

M. Laitman: If we come to a point where the public wants to clean themselves from their inclinations to something that's unrealistic. Then we will quickly understand and shorten the path to see what form we need to get closer to. If we clean ourselves from all sorts of perceptions that no longer have a place in our life, then we'll quickly discover that there's no choice. And we have to make some serious steps forward, and openly, towards the connection, the general connection. To move towards the general connection.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (33:42) He writes, nature doesn't change as a result of education or public opinion; why?

M. Laitman: Because that's like they wanted to build Socialism, Communism, all kinds of things, some wanted this, some wanted that. It can't be based on public opinion, it can only come from knowing how nature works, what is the law of development embedded in society by nature itself.

Student: Will the change of man's nature happen thanks to propaganda or work with the public?

M. Laitman: Yes, the generation will be closer to nature, in that they will want to realize the laws of nature internally. And take on a form that is in accord with nature and then they'll feel how much there's still a difference between them and nature. And they'll come to a state where each time they'll want to better understand what lies in the depth of nature and what they need to adapt themselves to.

Student: I see that the generation is moving further away from nature. What does it mean that the generation will be closer to nature?

M. Laitman: The inner laws of nature: If nature ultimately moves towards connection, towards becoming connected, everyone in a single system. And not that we scatter, as if through an explosion, in all directions. So, we'll also want to understand it and do it.

Student: So, what then will be special about education or changing of public opinion?

M. Laitman: According to that we will wish to learn, to know, what needs to change within us, and we'll change.

Student: If the generation approaches nature, gradually, it's as if nature is educating humanity, so what is education here? This form of intervention called education that change the perception of a person or his behavior?

M. Laitman: That we accept the laws of nature, we discover them, and we organize human society, accordingly.

Student: But nature does it, nature educates us.

M. Laitman: Yes. Well, what is nature? People who understand, who study and see, and can help us change, accordingly.

Student: If this intervention will not take place using education and public opinion, where will nature take us to bring us closer to Him, to It?

M. Laitman: If we don't change, nature will show us that it's hostile to us, and then we'll feel ourselves in a worse situation. And we'll understand that we have to adapt ourselves to nature, and we'll change, accordingly.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (38:17) I wanted to ask, is the social structure between egoistic and altruistic Communism the same, the external structure of society?

M. Laitman: That's not something we're studying right now, I don't know. We'll see when we read about it, then ask about it.

Student: Because when you say egoistic Communism, what we have seen thus far is not the egoistic Communism that Baal HaSulam writes?

M. Laitman: It never, it never took place.

Student: And also, why does he write that it's competition, because they added competition as a legally permissible thing, and it canceled the theft, can you explain that?

M. Laitman: Say it again?

Student: He writes, “if you should say that theft and robbery are well guarded in the capitalist regime, I shall tell you that it is because the law permits legal competition”.

M. Laitman: Wait. “If you say that theft and robbery are kept well in the possessive regime, I'll tell you that it's because the law permits the person to compete”, so?

Student: What's the meaning?

M. Laitman: So, it's this kind of possessive, possession-based regime that allows people to cult clash between them.

Student: Meaning, if competition is legally allowed, it lowers the theft in a non-capitalist regime when competition is forbidden. Then there's more theft, is that what he's saying here?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: I didn't understand, can you explain it?

M. Laitman: I don't understand it, that well, the more I read it.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (41:00) I thought he's saying that the capitalist regime allows thieves to continue to steal, legally. We see how, in the Communist regime, they're trying to stop this tendency and it goes against nature.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Like the example in the next paragraph, if there's a society where everyone is murderers and robbers, then in the capitalist regime, they can continue to steal. And if Communism is trying to coerce them to stop, it can't work.

M. Laitman: That's true, that's correct.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (41:48) I heard you say earlier about the regime, that it's something that you can't build according to our understanding.

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: Rather, it's revealed from above by an upper force. We just need to be ready, as you said, a wise man sees the future.

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: So, what does it mean that the upper force reveals a regime?

M. Laitman: The upper force reveals the human level that must be in accord with the level of development of the generation; and so, these fall and those rise and so forth. Starting from small groups, to countries, to the whole world.

Student: In every given moment in reality, the upper force is revealing a regime on us?

M. Laitman: It's not that much, every moment, but yes, we aren't so aware of how much we change. It's like being on the surface of planet Earth and not feeling like you're spinning. Same way, you're in human society and it's changing but you don't feel that much. That things are changing around you from day to day.

Student: So, what does it mean that the wise man sees the future? What do you expect to see?

M. Laitman: This is what we learn in the “Writings of the Last Generation,” we want to have a better grip on yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Understand where we're at, where we're headed, where we're moving towards, what nature is setting up for us.

Student: Yesterday and today, let's say, that the person knows how to grasp. How can he figure out where to go tomorrow, what is he expecting for tomorrow?

M. Laitman: First of all, that's what we're studying, we're studying the general direction of human society. And therefore, our study has to lead us to understand and know society, know nature.

Student: I heard you say that the upper force reveals the regime according to society's readiness. So, what does it mean that society is ready to reveal a regime from above? In what is it ready that it can be upgraded and updated?

M. Laitman: What does it mean, the right society?

Student: Not simply correct but is ready for the changes of the regime by the upper force.

M. Laitman: That they understand they're in the hands of the upper force and He is Good that does Good, and we have to get closer to that force, coming from our opposite nature, nature that is opposite to the upper force. And therefore, we have to make efforts here, and come to get closer to the upper law and its sublime goal. And see how we can assist it in that and try to accept the stages of development and the final state every day, more and more.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (46:12) Following the excerpt we read, it looks like there are two stages that are fairly clear: One is the stage of regarding property, where it says that everybody knows that everyone is a robber, and they make this competition. And whoever wins, wins, and if not, they leave the way for the rest of the people, it's clear, like today. The other thing is the idealist Communism, where it's a corrected state, where the society has gone through a process, it's matured, and it wants to be in giving and bestowing upon another. But the egoistic Communism is not clear at all, this transition, it looks like a stage that cannot even be stable, it cannot exist.

M. Laitman: It's unstable, because it happens against the desire and we take it upon ourselves, forcefully, that we just don't have a choice. And that's how we're willing to exist in order to make one step forward.

Student: Who's we? Those who are leading this transition or humanity?

M. Laitman: We, along with humanity, as much as we can include them.

Student: It seems like it's easier for us because we have the reforming light and we have the text, we have a method, we have Tens. We have an entire structure that allows us to work against the desire.

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: What is in humanity, this state of egoistic Communism, which is like a transition stage of sorts. How can that exist in humanity?

M. Laitman: From understanding that without it, it's impossible to approach bestowal and distribution. And it's impossible that each and every one will feel opposite to what the Communist society demands of them.

Student: The coercion that he speaks of in this stage, is not some external coercion, someone coming from the outside and coercing another?

M. Laitman: No.

Student: But people will feel that their nature is coercing them.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: It's a very special, important distinction.

M. Laitman: It's that nature or the world cannot exist if not according to the laws of bestowal and connection.

Student: So, out of all the bad that will be revealed to humanity, what will be the good? You always say that a medicine that's revealed, if it's bitter, has to be wrapped in chocolate.

M. Laitman: Of course, it is bitter because it's opposite to what the generation is at. But bit by bit, we get close, specifically, to things that are opposite.

Student: I'm looking at people, today, there are studies, people are running away to opioids, to drugs, just not to be in reality. They feel so bad, so helpless, just not to be in it, so they just run away from it. But here it speaks of an important stage where we realize that our nature is impossible, it coerces us, forces us to move to a new degree. So, will we keep people inside the process and not let them run away?

M. Laitman: I think they won't have the option to escape, and they won't have where to run, no. We are moving towards a general development that the whole world, all the countries, all the nations are beginning to realize that only this way we can survive. Otherwise, we'll just destroy everything and kill each other; meaning there is a necessity coming from nature here.

Student: So, beyond this bad feeling in the current state, there will also be this cool planning of how to transform humanity?

M. Laitman: From this end, all the way to the other end, yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (51:53) It sounds like he's saying that before human nature changes, we won't be able to be in altruism. Also, in the other excerpts, he says that we need to have an altruistic majority. Meaning before the Creator brings down this force that can change our hearts, humanity won't be ready, a society like that. About this material society and all that, it looks like it's also part of the Creator's plan. We learn about it here in Bnei Baruch, in the wisdom of Kabbalah, that we're on the path that grows the desire, the desire to receive, in order for us to be able to enjoy all the pleasure. And this track of spirituality grows one's desire until it reaches a place where you can transform it to love. We can see in reality that Communist societies did not develop like capitalist societies because those who exploit the we, the stragglers, also advance all of society, even materially. So, in this way we grow the abundance in the world until we reach the desired measure, and then the Creator will change the states, change our hearts.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Ashkelon 2): (53:35) I heard more than once that you said that the countries who established a communal structure called, Communism. But it's not communism. It's not egoistic Communism. I wanted to ask, why is Rav saying that it's not egoistic Communism, they exploited everything for their own benefit, after all.

M. Laitman: What happened happened, I don't know, it's difficult to define each and every thing that exists in some form, some cooperative form or other. I don't know, it's not so important to me to try to delve into that. We have a problem here: On the one hand, we understand these things, they're seemingly close to us. On the other hand, we have to transcend them and refrain from them, and raise them to a level of, so to speak, academic study that is unrelated to our life. Therefore, it's a place of confusion.

Student: Can I ask another question?

M. Laitman: Quickly.

Student: Regarding the concepts, these terms, Communism, egoistic Communism, altruistic Communism, as an example, if we would agree to change these concepts to, if it's egoistic, it's not Lishma, if it's altruistic, Lishma, inside the book, would that be okay?

M. Laitman: It wouldn't be okay because we don't know what Lishma is, here.

Student: Can I also ask?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: The work to reach Lishma, what's mine is yours and what's yours is yours. Is that work with the Creator or is that also mutual work with the Ten?

M. Laitman: It's mutual work inside the Ten, and even more than the Ten, which we do on the way. We have to do that to the extent that we will incorporate in a single society as one man in one heart and so on. Accordingly, we will advance towards a corrected state.

Question (ITA 3): (56:37) It looks like our children are more prepared for this kind of society. I think they want the stability of this regime. How to incorporate this new reality?

M. Laitman: Okay, there's something to it.

Question (Hadera 1): (57:24) As far as the upper one, if I understand correctly, the abundance belongs to the upper one. And everything a person received from the upper one, he received because the upper one gave him such conditions that would allow him to acquire a certain possession. But in reality, it doesn't belong to him, meaning, we need to change our attitude to property, so we'll have an attitude toward feeling more than toward property and possessions. And only through religion you can reach it, you can't explain the state of the upper one, if not for religion. So, reaching true altruism, pure altruism is possible only when there's an upper one and you accept the upper one as having all the property and all the concessions are made relative to Him. Is this correct?

M. Laitman: Partially, we'll talk about that more.

Question (Holland): (58:36) In a society like this, what we're talking about, what sort of leadership development do we need to develop?

M. Laitman: People who already reached the goal that society should reach, and they will be leading society and connecting it to the upper forces.

Student: And in what way do you see that, that we can develop such a leadership between us?

M. Laitman: We have to read through a few more pages of the “Writings of the Last Generation,” what Baal HaSulam wrote. And then we'll understand what's our true impression.

Reading: (01:00:28) Israel Is Qualified to Set an Example to All the Nations. Item 15.

Altruistic communism is seldom found in the human spirit. Hence, the nobler nation must take upon itself to set an example for the entire world.

M. Laitman: Yes, he felt that as his obligation.

Reading: (01:01:00) The Country Is at Risk. Altruistic Communism Will Assist With the Ingathering of the Exiles. Item 16.

The nation is at risk since before the economy is stabilized, each will flee to a different place, for not every person can endure the test while there is a way to live comfortably.

In the altruistic communism, the ideal will shine upon all people, giving them satisfaction that will make the suffering worthwhile. Moreover, it will draw the ingathering of the exiles from all the countries because the worries and survival wars everyone experiences overseas will motivate them to return to their land and live in peace and justice.

M. Laitman: Yes, this is what we'll still have to see.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:02:22)  Since Baal HaSulam wrote it, humanity has been through a lot. And back then there was Russian Communism, went to Socialism, and they went back to Socialist-based Capitalism. Most of the Communist countries have this Social Capitalism: People pay fifty percent of their salary in taxes in order to maintain social conditions for everyone. It cares for a house, for kind of financial support and people are accustomed to live well, just like in Israel, also. Why would people want to change this good state to something that's unclear or something that was not good, like Communism? Because for decades it's been going on and it's good, no one says it's not good in the country.

M. Laitman: Meaning, the bourgeois laws are working to benefit the citizen.

Student: It's called Social Communism: 50-60 percent goes to taxes so everyone can exist in a relatively good standard of living.

M. Laitman: I don't have anything to say against you.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:04:00) Also, that, in theory, it might be nice but in reality, specifically, in the last four or five years, all the regimes are falling apart. Seemingly stable, seemingly Socialist, Communist, where people care about each other seemingly everything is falling apart. Everywhere we look every country that's trying to go in this direction where it's going to take care of its citizens. It's discovering that man's ego is simply growing, and it won't be able to stop this volcano.

M. Laitman: Yes?

Student: In these days, we are in a time where people see that America, Israel, Europe, all the countries in the world are simply falling apart. Maybe, continuing with what the doctor is saying, we are going into a crumbling of the current method, this is clear to everyone.

M. Laitman: It also was clear that there will be a disintegration because the greater the ego is, the more it grows, it feels separate from others and against others. And so, it's natural.

Student: And then the question is how, looking at this turbid wave of the ego that's coming crashing down on us and letting the public hold itself? What would overturn this movement? Where will stability begin to meet this total deconstruction of what's happening in reality?

M. Laitman: In the knowledge that we must become connected.

Student: It seems like there's no way to share this understanding with people except through a lot of suffering. Only suffering will give people this insight that we're going to a bad place.

M. Laitman: You're right because, by that, you advance the feeling in the will to receive opposite the will to bestow; and then you have to bring people the future.

Student: Can I ask about what's happening in Israel right now or it's not relevant right now?

M. Laitman: No, Israel is a completely different thing.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:07:03) What is that ideal, as he writes, that will draw people in? In religion, there's an ideal: What's happening after death, there's very beautiful paintings. And that's why people are drawn to it and they're willing to do a lot of things, seemingly against their nature, to suffer even. Certainly, through religion, they suffer in order to reach this ideal. What is the ideal that Baal HaSulam is describing that people would agree to suffer for it? How can you describe the state where I would want to get to? Even Communists portray this beautiful life, beautiful pictures where people suffered for years, with the hope that this would happen; they truly believed in it. So, what's the ideal that we can depict before people, that they can be drawn to it, attracted to it?

M. Laitman: We learn that the generation rises to such a height, that there's no other choice. People don't want to accept something that doesn't belong to their level of development. That already requires connection and mutual development with everyone. It's simply what grows within man's heart, and he doesn't agree with anything less.

Student: I'm just trying to paint this picture, a vision, even a near-term vision, 10, 15, 20 years ahead. So, a person can look to the vision of Bnei Baruch and say, well, this group knows what to do, I should be connected to this idea. Without studying at night or all kinds of things, just to be connected to the idea. The question is how to depict this picture, it has to be simple.

M. Laitman: It is simple, it's just what's missing for its realization is that the hearts will be connected.

Student: I don’t understand, it's just not attractive. Connected hearts, it's hard to describe it, it's also not that attractive.

M. Laitman: That what's important for everyone will be important to you.

Student: We just need some, this mutual brain here, to think about this picture.

M. Laitman: Yes, yes, mutual brain as well, yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:10:13) Suffering, do sufferings draw light?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: I don’t fully understand it, what is it in a person that when he feels suffering, it causes the attraction of the reforming light?

M. Laitman: Because in a different form he is willing, opposite the suffering, to hold on to the sublime upper ideas.

Student: Is it because suffering humiliates a person, they force him to look outside of himself, that sort of thing?

M. Laitman: Let's say so.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:11:00) Just to add in addition to what Baal HaSulam is writing: Israel has to be an example to the nations. You find it in the additional commentary when he speaks of Israel.

M. Laitman: Yes.

Question (Petah Tikva Center): (01:11:22) I heard this innovation, I want to see that I got it. There's going to be a stage in humanity where people will despair of the possessive regime. And they'll start moving towards Communism or something cooperative, they'll say, we want just division. Can such a thing exist in our society?

 M. Laitman: This always exists, there are always big groups who demand that.

Student: Could it be such a global trend, local trend?

M. Laitman: Possibly.

Student: Meaning, it's a necessary condition, so we'll be able to realize what Baal HaSulam is writing?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: In other words, it will be a kind of a sign for us, that it's time to speak to people?

M. Laitman: It is signs of despair in all our forms of development, that we are in a form that we can't come out of. That is, we can't get through it to the illuminated world.

Student: So, when those signs of despair start with humanity, and they'll want to reach just distribution. And they'll be tired of the current form, and they'll try to reach just division, and discover that?

M. Laitman: That it's impossible because they don't have the forces for it. And then they'll discover the upper force, turn to Him, receive the strength from Him, which will bind them together. And in that connection, in that force that will hold between them, they can advance.

Student: Okay, if I can zoom in for a second onto the stage where humanity without any connection to us is starting to want some just division of resources. It has nothing to do with us it's simply despair from the current state. The pressures on the world will make people demand it more and more. And this movement will start, where people will start demanding just division and people will start to come closer to it, and they'll discover they're unable to do it. What is this revelation where from the action there will be an inner understanding, recognition of evil, as we say.

M. Laitman: Recognition of evil, yes.

Student: How will it look?

M. Laitman: It will look in a way that only man's nature stands in the way.

Student: Suddenly, they'll reach an understanding that this is against our nature, we're unable to do just a division of resources. It would be ideal to have it, but we can't do it. So, what are we doing at this time, we're looking at this process from the side.

M. Laitman: We raise our prayers to the heavens and awaken the upper force.

Student: Meaning, in the first stage, when humanity is despaired, and it wants just division. Even if we come and say, I have it, until they discover that they don't have the ability to get to just division, no one will listen?

M. Laitman: No, maybe they'll hear, here and there, there'll be all kinds of organizations and groups. But it won't be serious because they will have some upper form in place of the Creator.

Student: That is the regime of fair distribution without the Creator, without anything. Fair distribution and then we understand that it's impossible to reach that. What will be new in this stage? How will we identify that there is this mass, that we can identify that we cannot reach fair distribution without the Creator?

M. Laitman: That you won't be able to move them from their state, from their perception, in any possible way.

Student: I won't be able to move them?

M. Laitman: Anyone.

Student: Meaning, they'll position themselves on that opinion?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: So, if I stand by that opinion, so then I won't be able to recognize it?

M. Laitman: I didn’t get that.

Student: That stage where people try to reach fair distribution and fail, in that. How does it appear that there's enough recognition of evil so that you can come? And that the opinion of this fair distribution will be accepted through the Creator, with the help of the Creator?

M. Laitman: How will they discover that it's possible with the help of the Creator?

Student: How will our words be heard?

M. Laitman: From suffering, from the point of pain.

Student: What will be new about suffering where the experience to reach fair distribution, what will be new, there?

M. Laitman: What will be new is the discovery that without the presence of the Creator between us, we cannot discover Him; we cannot reach an upper degree.

Student: This addition, suddenly, that the Creator comes into the picture as the solution. That without that we cannot reach fair distribution and in general we cannot reach an upper degree, how does that arrive? People want to reach fair distribution, they fail. And then they suddenly understand that without the Creator they cannot do that?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: How does that happen?

M. Laitman: Due to a lack of strength, of forces.

Student: A lack of strength, a lack of forces, then what?

M. Laitman: And then what can they do if the Creator is not between us?

Student: The understanding will suddenly come to them that the Creator is lacking?

M. Laitman: Yes.

Student: Why would they suddenly get that understanding?

M. Laitman: Because it's inside that success that they've attained.

Student: What do we do in that stage, when humanity already starts getting to know that it is impossible to reach fair distribution? What do we do here?

M. Laitman: We hasten the development.

Student: How?

M. Laitman: By wanting to reach something that's similar to this, more and more.

Student: In the stage where we try to reach fair distribution without the Creator, what do we need to tell humanity in that stage? That they still haven't reached recognition of evil but they're just trying for the time being?

M. Laitman: Well?

Student: In the current state they're trying to reach fair distribution without the Creator, so what is our message in that stage?

M. Laitman: To come to a correct distribution without the Creator.

Student: We flow with that direction, right? We don't tell them that without friends, without the Creator, you cannot reach for a distribution.

M. Laitman: I don't understand what you're saying. Leave it.

Question (Women Turkiye 8): (01:20:02) Is altruistic Communism, does it exist in a corrected society where bestowal dwells? Or does altruistic Communism let us attain spirituality?

M. Laitman: Altruistic Communism is the attainment of spirituality on the highest level.

Question (Israel): (01:20:37) Is egoistic Communism, would that be received coercively in the first stage? And then in the second stage altruistic Communism will be accepted not coercively?

M. Laitman: Probably, probably, here we need to open these concepts.

Student: Is egoistic Communism, would it be accepted, coercively? Would people suffer from that coercive acceptance of it?

M. Laitman: It depends on the development, it could be that they will accept it and implement it on one hand. And on the other hand, they will be not satisfied and ready for altruistic Communism in every possible way.

Student: We read that not everyone can stand on this experience to suffer without being able, and in egoistic Communism there will be this ideal where people will be able to tolerate the thing. So, what will people be able to tolerate?

M. Laitman: To tolerate or suffer from injustice that is apparent to him

Question (Kyiv 1): (01:22:24) We read in the last paragraph that people will get sick of other forms of government and there will be an ingathering of the exiles. Does Baal HaSulam mean that Israel will be the first one that will accept this new government?

M. Laitman: Yes, correct.

Student: So, in principle, altruistic Communism doesn't necessarily need to encourage the revelation of the Creator; meaning, the Creator needs to be present there, and it's not just some social structure?

M. Laitman: The social regime will be connected to the Creator in a direct manner. Where the Creator will be revealed in the society in a manner that you cannot separate between them. Where the Creator will be immersed in all the connections between the members of the society and will all be connected and dependent on one another.

Student: In ancient Israel, before the destruction of the Temple, there was a revelation of the Creator, there. Is that something similar to what Baal HaSulam depicts here? Or would that take place in a different stage?

M. Laitman: That was on a different level, that's why we don't learn about it to not get confused. At one point, we'll talk about that, too.

Student: We speak about that in which, first and foremost, egoistic Communism needs to develop, and afterward, altruistic Communism will come about to replace it. In this nation, let's say, in Israel as you say, does the left need to rise to prominence in government and then we will learn that way? Does that need to develop?

M. Laitman: That we didn't talk about, yet. We did not talk about anything like that. Okay, enough of the last generation for now, let's come back to our times. What do we have?
