Daily Morning Lesson: July 11, 2025

Part 1: Recorded lesson – Oct 16, 2021. Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

Reader: Hello friends, in the first part of the lesson we will start with an article from “Shamati” from a lesson with Rav from October 16, 2021. This is the article “Torah Lishma”, “Shamati”, 22. You can find it in kabbalahmedia.info. Let's watch.

Reading: (00:06) Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

Torah is called Lishma [for Her sake] primarily when one learns in order to know with utter certainty, within reason, without any doubts of the clarity of the truth, that there is a judge and there is judgment.

M. Laitman: Meaning, this is what we want to know, to attain—that there is a judge and there is a judgment. We want to get to know the upper force—judges and corrects and directs—He does everything in nature. We have to get to know Him.

Reading: Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

There is a judgment means that one sees reality as it appears to our eyes. This means that when we work in faith and bestowal, we see that we are growing and climbing daily, since we always see a change for the better.

And it is likewise to the contrary: When we work in a form of reception and knowledge, we see that we are declining every day down to the ultimate lowliness in reality.

Reading: (01:43) Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

When examining these two states, we see that there is judgment and there is a judge, since while we do not follow the laws of the Torah of truth,

M. Laitman: Meaning, according to bestowal.

Reading: (02:03) Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

We are punished instantly. In that state, we see that there is just judgment. In other words, we see that this is precisely the best way, which is fit and can achieve the truth.

M. Laitman: Meaning, we learn and we do all kinds of actions. After a few years, we begin to feel that if I will continue this way, I am aimed at the force of bestowal. If I go, if I walk differently, I am not going to get to the force of bestowal.

Reading: Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

to understand within reason, with complete and absolute understanding of which there is no higher, that only by way of faith and bestowal can we achieve the purpose.

Reader: (03:25) If we see all this within reason, we don't have choice anymore. What does it mean?

M. Laitman: What do you mean? Each time we need to increase the acts of bestowal, actions that we don't want to do. But in order to reach Lishma, we invest our energy in bestowal.

Student: There's a clear purpose in front of our eyes, that we want to reach Lishma?

M. Laitman: Go ahead, write it down, I'll give you this recipe or prescription: If you do it towards the group, towards the general Bnei Baruch, and towards the world. If you do acts of bestowal then it's certain that you will reach Lishma. What is the secret here?

Student: But if the state is constant, we're done; it becomes most important and the rest is less.

M. Laitman: That becomes the line of life and if you follow it, you are rewarded with everything.

Question (ITA 1): (04:54) How can I recognize correctly without the distortions of the ego? Do I need the judge to trust myself or the Ten?

M. Laitman: I need to see life, how in the middle there's life from here to Ein Sof, there's one clear line. If I'm following bestowal, giving, connection, I certainly awaken the good forces on me. As much as I can do it without a desire, it means I'm walking above reason. If I do it with a desire, then within reason, I need to try constantly to be in the force of bestowal. I have a group that I first have to think about—how I bestow to the group, my good bestowal, my good influence. What are you asking about it?

Question (PT 20): (06:47) What does it mean that there is judgment and there is a judge in the Ten?

M. Laitman: No, no, in the Ten, there isn't, we're speaking about the Creator. There is a judge, there is a judgment, that's the Creator who is above the world.

Question (W Latin 1): (07:40) We have a doubt about the punishment that is written in the text. What does it mean regarding punishment?

M. Laitman: Punishment is when a person is pushing the goal away from him, that he is stopping on the way. He's not arriving according to the right speed to the goal, that's the punishment. And an even greater punishment is that he feels the Creator less, he feels spirituality less, he feels the group less. This is the great punishment, indeed.

Question (W Argentina 1): (08:54) In our Ten, we work together to reach Lishma as a group but sometimes we have individual states of disconnection. Is there something that's called, pain, in spirituality?

M. Laitman: Of course and how? There are many pains in spirituality and many states of pleasure, a billion times greater than in our world. Why are you asking?

Student: Because sometimes the descents that we're experiencing are creating pain because they want to reach and it's a constant conversation in the Ten. How to reach something stronger in the connection.

M. Laitman: If you wish to reach stronger connection and you can't and you feel repulsion, pain, it's very good. You have to attach the tendency for connection and the pain that you cannot reach connection – for the time being – and this, together, makes for a strong prayer.

Question (W PT 5): (10:39) This is a question about dissemination: In the past, there was a feeling that really we can tip the balance of the world when we disseminate. And today there's a doubt, can we really save the world, can we really prevent the disasters? Can we really—what we're going to do now will help or, no matter what—the world—we need to go through this big crisis? It's raising a lot of doubt and fear. What do we do with this?

M. Laitman: On that, it says – please write it down – it says, it's not on you to finish the job, but you're not free to be rid of it; rather, you have to keep going – dot, dot, dot. That's it. We don't want to set conditions before the Creator, where is the reward that I deserve, the payment? Rather, we should do what's required of us like an ox to the burden and a donkey to the load, I only care about the load and the burden. It should be either an ox or a donkey and, more than that, whatever the landlord decides, I should do.

Question (Hadera 1): (12:22) Can we say, in other words, that this inversion from Lo Lishma to Lishma takes place when my ego starts to support acts of bestowal?

M. Laitman: Ego that supports acts of bestowal? No, no, it might seem this way for the time being, in the first degree. Because, seemingly, when everything is working out, everything seems logical and clear, more than before when things were all confused. Then you take it as if your ego is helping you along the way. Great, soon, you'll see that you are mistaken.

Question (KabU 4): (13:28) My question is a bit complex to formulate because I understand, now, the feeling of the ego and how to—I wouldn't say completely restrict it but at least recognize it, so I put it all on one side. Now, the problem is the border between, what is the ego and his influence on me towards the bestowing onto the friends and the acknowledgment of getting the Creator into our Ten and working with us all together? I'm unable to figure out the bestowing part right after I restrict my ego. Can you help me with this please?

M. Laitman: You haven't restricted your ego even once so don't mislead yourself. What you need to do for the time being, as much as you can, you need to subjugate yourself before the group. And truly serve them and help them in any way possible, then you'll begin to feel where you are.

Question (Moscow 5): (14:55) Talking about donkey to the load, is there any sign from the Creator that a Ten is moving in the right direction?

M. Laitman: You will never get anything that can fit in your vessels of reception and for you to understand that you are advancing correctly. You can receive proof of your correct advancement if each time you get these contradictions, deviations, failures in spiritual work. Only in this way, the Creator is advancing you.

Question (San Francisco): (16:09) How do I accustom myself to working in bestowal?

M. Laitman: Only with the group, work together with the group—we learn, we read twice a day an article. Once every few days, the Sundays, we have our meal in the evening and that's how we advance, that's it.

Question (MAK 20): (16:50) If the Creator is a force, how could we ask force from a force? How to build the prayer to operate on forces of nature?

M. Laitman: Very simple, using your simple words, your own simple words, start to write those words with a pen and paper or on a computer. You'll begin to see what you get out of it, it helps tremendously.

Question (India): (17:32) How to ask correctly for the group if there are only two active friends in the group and all the rest don't even come or participate. Should we ask for the additional friend or for the whole group in general?

M. Laitman: I don't know what to do if there are only two friends. That, too, is possible but—the smallest collective is two – but it's very sad to hear. In your place, I would join another group. Our groups today are, after all, virtual so what's the problem? Look where we are: We cover everywhere from Europe to Russia, Baltics, Latin America, Toronto, Germany, Argentina, everywhere. There's no point being in a group with one more person, you need to enter such groups where you have even up to ten people, eight. And this way, you'll enter good, strong force.

Question (PT 6): (19:05) I wanted to ask a different direction question: What's that state where we've entered where men and women are studying together?

M. Laitman: No, on Shabbat, that's what we've done. On weekdays, we let women ask questions three times, three times. And I'm interested in that because I see women as a big, inseparable part of our spiritual vessel. I see them as an important, very important, potential spiritual force and I see great seriousness. There are such women who are with us 10, 15 years, already, and I highly respect them. The fact that I sometimes seem like, that I get mad sometimes, have a short fuse, doesn't mean that I don't have a very warm, heartfelt attitude towards them. I see a great force in them, I would say that the women force is our insurance that we would not fall but actually advance on the path. As it says, a woman protects her husband, so our women and all of our women group will look after us. I'm telling you, men, so you understand just how much we need them, even more than they need us.

Student: That's really my question, how should men relate to this situation, this new state?

M. Laitman: That is good, good. We have more friends in our power together, we don't pay attention to the differences in gender. Rather, what's important to us is that there are more friends—men, women friends—who are loyal, helpful in everything. That's why I'm very happy that we have such a great force. More than half of the friends in BB are women so let's continue and keep on growing.

Student: How do you see this intermingled participation right now? Are you satisfied with the way it is? Would you like it differently, better?

M. Laitman: No, I see a good, beautiful thing for the time being. I can't say yet what kind of states we're going to get in the future, I don't know but—because what we're doing is something new. Never before, been practiced in the wisdom of Kabbalah and the learning of Kabbalah, where there are two huge groups in the thousands, on the men's side and on the women's side. I hope that, by that, we are opening a new stage in the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah to all of humanity.

Student: Could you hint at least about what you see as the future states in this situation?

M. Laitman: The important thing for us is to understand, attain the matter of Lishma. Anyone who's with us, even though it seems to be very far from it—he doesn't want, he's in conflict with it. He should keep going because we will make it to Lishma, that's it. That's the main thing for us, what we're studying daily each morning and the wisdom of Kabbalah, there's nothing more than that, there really isn't. The entire wisdom of Kabbalah is how to reach Lishma—to in order to bestow, to bestow—connection. Whereas all the rest, all the other parts of the study of the Torah, they speak about things that belong to this world, corporeal things. They don't speak about connection, about concessions, all those things, they don't talk about Lishma.

Question (W Latin): (25:12) This state that talks about the text describes to understand that there is a judgment or a judge in the work inside the reason. How do we increase the weight of the work in order to feel the heart that's turning to the Creator? Or this judgment is to show us that something is wrong, that something is missing in the group.

M. Laitman: If I aim myself in the direction of the correction of the world, the correction of the group. And I work towards it, and I awaken my friends as much as I can to bestow the connection, I bring myself closer to Lishma, that's it. And then in a few months, I begin to understand what is Lishma. I begin to feel where it needs to be clarified more and more. We will take care of it, but for the time being, we should do all the possible actions between us towards connection and in the direction of the Creator. That's it.

Question (W Europe 1): (26:52) Can I bestow the friends only while I'm together with them in lessons and dissemination?

M. Laitman: Of course, you can bestow, who else can bestow? All of you who are in your group. She has to think about it day and night as much as possible, as much as possible all hours of the day. As much as possible to be in the thought that I am influencing, I'm bestowing to my group and through the group to all of Bnei Baruch. And through Bnei Baruch to all of humanity, and together all three levels to the Creator. And then in a short time, you feel how much you're aiming yourself in that direction and accordingly you're approaching Lishma.

Question (Hungarian-Polish): (28:23) How to keep connection with the friends all the time because I'm afraid to let go, I'm afraid that I will go again to the state of the wicked.

M. Laitman: I would write here on my hand, Lishma, and here, group, I would kind of inscribe it on my fingers like that so I wouldn't forget and when I'm in some place and I look at my hands then I return to the correct state, that’s it. Rabash would laugh when he saw that but, correct, but on the other hand he had nothing to say about it. It really reminded me, I was worried, I was concerned about it.

Question (W Rus 6): (29:33) I have a question about the judge and judgment. The judge is the Creator. The Creator is the quality of bestowal, meaning the quality of bestowal is judging my ego. And somehow deleting the borders so that we can enter Lishma, is that right?

M. Laitman: I'm not answering you, because you'll get confused. You're going to be too smart, do what I tell everyone to do. We've been friends for a long time.

Question (Woman PT 18): (30:20) First of all, about reminding ourselves of the work every day, so I already did it. And I would like to say that our path is my life, there's nothing in my life that's more important. And for that I live.

M. Laitman: I know you maybe more than 20 years, of course.

Student: The problem is that probably I have, my ego is too big and I'm drawn more to dissemination and less to the work in the Ten. The work in the Ten sometimes is really repulsing me and I'm very busy in dissemination. And from that I grow and I teach and everything, but the work in the Ten is very hard for me. The question is, are there women who have a bigger tendency to dissemination and less to the work in the Ten?

M. Laitman: Correct. There are people that are more drawn to dissemination and there are those that are more to teaching and more and more, all kinds of attractions for different people. You need to work where you can bring the best maximal benefit, that's it.

Student: Meaning, if every day I disseminate and all day I'm busy with this and I can only connect, let's say, one time a day to the Ten, is that also okay?

M. Laitman: It's plenty, yes.

Question (W ITA 8): (32:44) The article says that the judgment is the best way to reach the truth. Is judgment, including also Hassidim, graces, is it good judgment or not?

M. Laitman: I don't answer questions like that, they're too smart. You're being too smart. The main thing is to continue forward in the direction of bestowal towards the Ten. Care for the Ten like a mother cares for her baby, that's all you need, we don't need to have too much of an intelligence for that. Especially women can understand this much deeper than men can.

Reading: (33:50) Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

Thus, if one studies for this purpose, to understand that there is judgment and there is a judge, this is called Torah Lishma

M. Laitman:  Meaning if we were to think to discover what judgments are and what the judge is, meaning what laws stand before us to reach bestowal, then we will reach the Torah Lishma.

Reading: (34:18) Baal HaSulam, Shamati #22. Torah Lishma

This is also the meaning of what our sages said, “Great is the learning that leads to action.”

It seems that it should have said, “that brings to actions,” meaning to be able to do many actions, in the plural form, and not in singular form. However, the thing is that, as mentioned above, the learning should bring one only faith, and faith is called one Mitzva [commandment], which sentences the whole world to merit.

Faith is called “doing” because normally when one does something, there must first be a reason that makes him do within reason. It is like the correlation between the mind and the action.

However, when something is above reason, when the reason does not let him do that thing, but to the contrary, we must say that there is no reason in this act, but only an act. This is the meaning of “If one performs one Mitzva, happy is he for he has sentenced himself, etc., to the side of merit.” This is the meaning of “Great is the learning that leads to action,” meaning an act without reason, called “above reason.”

M. Laitman: Meaning, to bestow as much as possible to the Ten, to the general group of BB, and to the whole world. Understand, don't understand – truly perform such actions – the main thing is in the Ten. And then hold on to the Ten strong because you will receive forces against them, against those forces of bestowal, and overcome even more in bestowal. And there will be even more counter-forces, and the Creator will arrange, eventually, a state where we will be balanced in these two forces, and we will have to each time grow and keep that middle line.
