Daily Morning Lesson: April 11, 2026

Part 2: Baal HaSulam. Study of the Ten Sefirot. Vol 2, Part 5.

Reader: We will now study from a TES lesson with Rabash. We will read from the Study of the Ten Sefirot, second volume, part five. In Hebrew it's page 426, Inner Light, item 40. You need to remember, meaning since the vessel of Hochma was born from the inversion of the face, first we will read item 40, Inner Light.

Reading: (00:41) 40. Afterwards, the light returns to being Matei in Keter, and then both HB ascend there because of the desire they have. Then you find that there is a great distance between the sons and the light of GAR, for there are two distances between them, Bina and Hochma, in which there is no light. Hence, at that time, the light of Hesed rises to Bina and is called not Matei in Hesed. In that state, the vessel of Hesed turns its anterior and gives the six lights below in Gevura.

RABASH : (01:32) I see Bina in the vessel of Hochma, but which light shines there? The two inclusive lights are only Hochma, and the property of Hassadim is considered at its level as posterior. In the first stage, we learned that phase two, that there was a coupling in the vessel of Hochma on two Bet’s, and gave the level that emerged to Bina, which the ARI calls a great illumination alone, it had not yet given phase one to her. The question arises, what did it give her? Was there a turning of the interior here or not? What is the turning of the interior? First, there was a turning of the interior from the vessel of Hochma. The vessel of Hochma had phase three. When it had phase three, it could not bestow to the vessel of Bina. The vessel of Bina does not have phase three, only phase two. Therefore, we learned that first there was a refinement from phase three of Hitlabshut in the vessel of Hochma, and it became two Bet’s. And afterwards, it gave Bina its light. Now the question arises, what light did it give to Bina? Still the light of Hochma or not? There's a reason to say that there is still Hochma. Why? Hochma has not yet been refined from phase two to phase one, and its main level is phase two. On the other hand, we learn he does not clarify. He only says the level that it received is VAK. He gives one reason why it's called VAK. The level that emerged between the upper and the lower is called VAK. Why? I don't know. Why? What is difficult for me? We always speak about the upper making a coupling for the sake of the lower. Who says it gives VAK? The coupling for the sake of the lower, it gives the entire degree for the sake of the lower. Why does it give VAK? Indeed, this is what he says. Do you remember here on page 326, the passage beginning with, "You must know," so he says,

Student: "You must remember that the light of Hassadim…

RABASH (Source Text/Commentary): (04:11) I got confused. The passage beginning, "You must remember." So, the phase two that Hochma gives to Bina is considered VAK of Hochma. Why? So, he says, since he is born through the turning of the interior of the vessel of Hochma. He does not explain to us what this is, the turning of the interior of the vessel of Hochma. Here, the simple meaning is the turning of the interior of the vessel of Hochma. Previously, it was phase three, now phase two. But the question arises, is there still Hochma in phase two? Hochma or not? Certainly, yes. Phase two has not yet been refined. If so, the question arises, what does it mean that it turned its interior? It's to say it turned its interior because it gave Hassadim, or shall we say it desired Hesed? Therefore, the Hassadim. Let's see further.

You should also know that this is the root of Israel's Sabbath in all the Partzufim in the world of Atzilut. There is yet another second light there, which is the record of the vessel of Bina, which is there from the time of the first expansion. So, he says, that record is the phase of the female that exists in the vessel of Bina. So, he says, know that she is the root of all the phases of Tvuna in all the Partzufim. However, the light Hesed that Hochma now bestowed upon Bina is considered a son, an offspring.

This belonged to further. Keep in mind the relationship between the ZON in the vessel of Hochma with the ZON in the vessel of Bina. Now he returns to the beginning, since in the truth they are now, they are a light of the same level of Bina, that is, that two Bet’s emerged. However, the Reshimo of Bina relates to the Reshimo of Hochma, as YESHSUT relates to Upper AVI. The YESHSUT are only the VAK of Upper AVI themselves, although both are considered discerned as one level of coarseness of phase two. That is, this level that emerged, emerged on two Bet’s. From this you understand that the primary division of AVI and YESHSUT into two parts of Partzuf, it should be, GAR and VAK, is only to engender the Katnut of the seven lower Sefirot. What's written here? This is because it is impossible for the vessel of Hochma to bestow the light of Hesed, which is the phase of VAK without GAR, if not through the posterior of Hochma. Hence, it turns its interior backwards, and this inversion divides the vessel of Hochma into two parts of Partzuf. Parts of GAR, where the interior remains in its place — that is, one can explain, as we explained then, that the meaning is that phase two remains in its place and it has Hochma, and parts of VAK of Hochma, which turn its interior backwards, giving light of VAK without GAR. That is, although it has Hochma, since phase two has not yet been refined, it nevertheless bestows Hassadim for the sake of Bina, desires Hassadim.

RABASH (Source Text/Commentary): (08:47) So we have already learned where Bina has Hassadim from before it has phase one. Do not forget, and afterwards we learn, that phase two is also refined to phase one, and then even Hochma has no Hochma. If I learn it this way, it can be explained thus, and what is difficult? That it itself has phase two, only to bestow to whom? To Bina. It turns its anterior, it turns out accordingly, that I will learn turning of the interior, not necessarily from phase three to phase two. One explanation is from phase two, three to phase two, a second is Hassadim, that it has Hochma, and the text does not imply this, only today it compels us reading. It is an interpretation, not explicitly written. However, in order to engender Gadlut of ZA, that is, it was to engender VAK, to engender the Gadlut of ZA. Here it's difficult. We learned Katnut, Gadlut, that this was specifically after the second restriction. Before the second restriction, the matter of Katnut and Gadlut didn't exist. He gives here the root, how it comes. We do not learn which two qualities, only the world of Atzilut. However, in order to engender Gadlut of ZA, meaning the GAR that belonged to those five Hassadim, the vessel of Hochma must return its anterior upward once more, as in the beginning. What is the meaning? Then it's considered that ZON of Bina and ZON of Hochma, which were divided into GAR and VAK due to the inversion of the anterior of Hochma, now that Hochma revoked that inversion of the anterior of Hassadim, there is no longer the bestowal of GAR and the discernment of VAK in the vessel of Hochma. What is the meaning there is no longer bestowal of GAR and bestowal of VAK in the vessel of Hochma? There are two qualities. When are there to bestow I'm asking? In Katnut. It turns out that he learns that Hochma remained in GAR

RABASH (Source Text/Commentary): and gave Hassadim in the bestowal of VAK, and now this is not so, only what? Hochma. So they return and rise to ZON. Who? Bina. And again, Hochma and Bina become one Partzuf once more. Know that this matter applies also in Partzufim of Atzilut. This is simple here. This is difficult. If so, what do we need to learn here? Look further down at the passage beginning "what has been explained." And all that has been explained, you will thoroughly understand the order of the birth of the light of Hesed its Gadlut. Only what happened. It returned to being not expanding in Keter, and then expanding in Hochma. That the light of Hochma that was in Keter descended to Hochma, and then the seven children that are in Bina are great. Why?

Student: There is Hochma.

RABASH (Source Text/Commentary): (12:38) Then Bina rises to Hochma. Why? Because the yearning she had to cleave with her, and the seven lights descend and are given to Hesed. This is also complicated. So he explains. Here it implies two things. One, when Hochma was refined from phase two to phase one, and gave phase one to the vessel of Bina, then I understand that Hochma has no Hochma. So at the time it gave phase one, this is Hassadim, but who compelled it to say that at the time it gave the level of phase two to Bina, there was also a turning of the interior from Hochma to Hassadim. From phase three to phase two, one must say he explicitly acknowledges this, that it gave Hassadim. He says it explicitly. He says VAK, but what causes there to be turning of the anterior? From here it implies that he says there are two qualities in the passage beginning with "however." Now Hochma revoked that inversion of the anterior. There is no longer bestowal of GAR and bestowal of VAK in the vessel of Hochma. What does it mean? About which state is it said? Bestowal of GAR and the bestowal of VAK in the vessel of Hochma. Bestowal of GAR, I learned, when do I bestow VAK in the vessel of Hochma? When it gave from phase two to phase one, or am I saying when it gave the two phase twos? There is no correct answer here. He also means to say that the two Bet’s also gave Hassadim, meaning the turning of the interior that gave the illumination alone. Phase two has not been refined yet. We also learned that what did we not receive? Only VAK.

Inner Light, not expanding in Keter, and then it is expanding in Hochma. What is the meaning not expanding in Keter? Since the male and female of the light of Keter were refined, phase four over three to phase three over two. Then the posterior were canceled. The Keter which bestows only Hassadim was already canceled. Phase four of Hitlabshut shines now, meaning that the light of Keter that it has belongs to phase four, which would weaken it. So, necessarily, and they bestowed the light of Bina to the vessel of Hochma. The level of Bina, but there is Hochma there, and they are expanding in Hochma, and the anterior of Hochma returned to its place, as in the beginning. It is also expanding in Bina. When there is expanding in Hochma, it is also expanding in Bina. Why? Because of the Hesed there. The meaning that Hochma turned her anterior downward, gave the male and female of Bina to the vessel of Bina, is expanding in Bina. He explains the reason, because of the Hesed there. In order to correct Hesed, and lower it to its vessel. If so, what does he explain as Hesed, like what we learned? Phase one, to say it in order. But he explains there. It's difficult, we'll see that later.

RABASH (Source Text/Commentary): (17:52) Then expanding in Hesed, where then Hesed already has Gadlut, and was also refined. Bina descends to its place, when it is further refined. Here we need to learn two things. One, the turning of the interior was for the sake of the Hesed, and also descended to its place, in order to be refined from phase two to phase one, for the sake of Hesed. So it's two things, expanding in Hesed, for then Hesed descends to its place, through the refinement of phase two. In the vessel of phase one, this is the phase of light of the five Hassadim that belong to VAK. At that time, the light of Hesed descends to its vessel. It's expanding in the Hesed, and the interior returns to its place. And then not expanding in Gevura, why? Because Gevura ascends with Hesed. The meaning is, the whole light of Gevura is the posterior and the VAK of the light of Hesed. When there is no GAR in the degree, the VAK rises in its place. Since the interior of Hesed returned to its place, the posterior that was in Gevura was canceled, and was incorporated once more in the interior of the light of Hesed. In that state, the vessel of Gevura turns its interior downward once more. Why? Just as it rose upward and received Hesed as anterior, likewise, what remained of it was also interior, also Hochma, and gives the light of Tifferet in the illumination of GAR, in the illumination of Hochma, to Tifferet as above. And this is what he says here. And it is expanding in Tifferet. Why? Why not expanding in Netzach? For the same reason. He divides Zeir Anpin into Rosh, Toch, Sof, and he says, they are divided in the Rosh into interior and posterior. Hesed is called Hochma, and Gevura is called posterior. And when there is interior, there is Hochma. Gevura connects to Hesed. But when there is no Hochma, no GAR, then Gevura rises in its place. And likewise, in the Toch, it is also divided, and it is called Tifferet and Netzach. Tifferet and interior of GAR of Hochma, Netzach is Hassadim, and Gevura. And when there is Tifferet and Hochma, Netzach does not rise in its place and connects with Tifferet. And likewise, the Sof has Hod and Yesod, also interior and posterior. When Hod has interior, Yesod rises.
