Baal HaSulam. The Wisdom of Kabbalah and Philosophy: How Can a Spirit Beget a Corporeal? 

Reading: “It is seemingly difficult to understand how the spiritual…” (00:11)

49. R. (02:34) What he does here, he is placing questions here that basically philosophy answers and there is no argument with them here for us because we do not even see these questions. I am talking about the wisdom of Kabbalah; the body is not a result of our soul and that is why we do not relate to our body, our physiological body, nothing that relates to spirituality, to eternity, to wholeness and also about the body being an upshot of the soul. I think we should read again because we do not have any contact, connection with our friends.

50. R. (04:06) Why? Because what we are saying is that there is no connection at all between the two worlds corporeal and spirituality. Spiritual is spiritual and that is what we receive in our qualities above reason in order to bestow and corporeal means when we are in our senses and our order to receive, and everything is called an imaginary world it does not exist. Only in our imagination does it exist. That is why there is no such thing as one begets another. Moreover being connected to the spiritual world being connected to the corporeal world something cascading from the upper world to our lower world. These are things that are completely imaginary, and Kabbalists are against that.

51. S. (07:10) He writes that in his opinion the spiritual and corporal are equalized like two drops in a pond.

R. As the philosophers they think that spirituality begets corporeality, and that corporeality is the true result of spirituality and that is not what Kabbalists think. They say that this whole world is imaginary because it seems to us in our egoistic will to receive that truly only exist for us to locate it as being bad and trying to escape it and rise to the only existing degree which is spiritual.

S. It just sounds from what we read that the Kabbalists think similarly. 

R. What?

S. I will read, "It is the view of the sages of Kabbalah that this is not difficult at all for their terms are completely opposite from those of philosophers. They maintain that spiritual quality equalizes with the corporal quality like two drops in a pond."  It sounded to me that the Kabbalists thought this way.

R. No, the spiritual world and the corporeal world exist and not that the corporeal world is only imaginary, it only seems to us this way in our egoistic will to receive that it is only a replica of something. According to the Kabbalists, this world is imaginary, it only exists in the world to receive.

S. It has no connection with the spiritual world?

R. There is no connection with the spiritual world.

S. Even though it was a result of It?

R. We say that it cascades from the spiritual world so that we can rise above reason and enter the spiritual world, which is why we have imagination, a feeling we exist in some reality show called the lower world, the corporeal world, the imaginary world.

52. S. (09:48) What does it say in these writings that in spirituality there are complex beings? What does it mean?

R. He means that if we are talking about Kabbalists, Kabbalists talk about forces. The force of bestowal. If we are talking about people who are not Kabbalists, there is a whole party there of figures, demons, spirits, etc., about all sorts.

R. I need to do exercises on my will to receive on the intention to receive, in order to prepare myself for the attainment with the upper world, the spiritual world.

S. Meaning in corporeality, you need this world, right?

R. Yes.

R. Yes, of course he does. You do not understand what is going on here. There is no corporeality, it does not exist. This world does not exist, it is an imagination, and we are in it. It is called an imaginary world

55. R. (14:50) Meaning there was a transition here from philosophy to psychology and from psychology to the wisdom of Kabbalah, it was born of that. The wisdom of Kabbalah is much more ancient but by materialistic psychology, they could disconnect from philosophy and from all the forms it built out of the fruit of the intellect of the philosophers. That is why this materialistic psychology came in and cleansed, seemingly cleansed, the mind and emotion of human beings so that now they can go into the wisdom of Kabbalah.

56. R. (15:48) Today, psychology is kind of on the horse compared to psychology. Is it also standing against Kabbalah or is it in parallel?

R.  The same sensation psychology describes. Psychology goes according to what we have in this world, as we say, 'that the judge has not what his eyes see'. Just like science, it is not a science because a lot of things are missing there from proper checking. verification, cross verification but it is talking about matters that are closer to reality than philosophy. Philosophy is entirely escaped science tools. Philosophers were from the ancient Greeks, two thousand years ago and more. From the days of the coming of Israel from Egypt from exile to the land of Israel there was a thousand years before Christ. Meaning three thousand years ago. Many people came to them to study and that is where science started. From this science, philosophy developed because they could not. Many of these people could not perceive what Kabbalists were saying. They took the fundamentals of Kabbalah and turned them into something that you can feel. that you can understand and work within your egoistic vessels and from that philosophy was born. After a while, thousands of years have passed, and philosophy was truly in control and the wisdom of Kabbalah existed quietly and then philosophy started revealing itself. Everyone was engaging in it but not seeing the right result and they started saying that of all the philosophy, come all the wisdoms. Today, PhD, with the word philosophy in it and we are talking about a scientist with a PhD. Why do we call it philosophy? Because from this philosophy, from this approach to reality it used to be from the wisdom of Kabbalah that was the foundation for all the knowledge. Then it vanished because they did not have a grip, or attainment in spirituality. That is why what is going on instead of philosophy being the source of all science it became just blabbering, talking about it no more than that. This is until today if anyone is looking at philosophy at all.

S. Regarding psychology that is developing today it will also ultimately end or is it not bothering it?

R. Psychology if it is based on realistic research then it is part of the wisdom of Kabbalah. Ultimately, it explains to us what the will to receive of ours is and it will connect with time. materialistic psychology will connect with the wisdom of Kabbalah and will help all human beings to reach spiritual attainment.

Ultimately it will start revealing to us that we were with five vessels, sight, sound, touch, smell and how we work with these five senses, how we can rise above the feeling of reality not to be related and dependent on these senses but rather to see reality in an independent way. Independent of my will to receive. As a researcher I have to rise above my ego and to be independent and then I can be a researcher. Then this psychological approach helps us to rise above the corporeal human to reach a state of a spiritual human.

S. Are there psychological methods that Kabbalah could also use?

R. No, we do not need that. Only psychology brings a person to something, to a certain extent to the wisdom of Kabbalah. Materialistic psychology that speaks about what we feel about in our matter. This is what we learn in the wisdom of Kabbalah, but the main part of the study is on us and ourselves.

57. R. (23:43) He said that I am Solomon, I am King Solomon.

58. R. (24:33) Meaning here Baal HaSulam wants to show us in a real and abbreviated way, can you identify Kabbalists or not? Can you identify a real sage or not? Where you can learn wisdom from and not be mistaken. Who knows? After some time, maybe after thousands of years, just like humanity is starting to discover that it is a dead-end, is there an exit from that place or are we all reaching a stage where who knows what is going on with us? Here we are going to learn these things more.

59. R. (27:10) Meaning there are a lot of things you can exchange the truth with a lot of things that you can put in his place. What can you do? It is not an ordinary person, but it is rather King Solomon who is known throughout the whole world who was the wisest of all but for this they need to be wise but if we are talking in our times than in our times there are no Kabbalists there are no people at the degree of prophets. We have no opportunity to appear before the audience and say that yes, we are in connection with the upper wisdom and yes, we are studying something that can bring humanity the light of redemption from all of our ego, from our will to receive. So what to do? There are no wise ones, no sages in our times that can link and bring the wisdom of Kabbalah to develop in the lanes of the nation.

R.  All the rewards are perceived in the human beings in us. We reveal ourselves that we exist in some reality. This reality is comprised of the still, vegetative, animate, and is speaking and many forces, the stars, many things. This reality appears within us, only within us. We cannot see what exists outside of us. You can only say that something awakens within us some sensation that we exist in some reality. That is it. We live, we exist in some reality. What do we do? How do we reach the truth? The sages of Kabbalah say that if you want to reveal the truth, you must exit yourself. Exit yourself and begin to reveal the reality in an independent manner from your vessels. Your vessels are the will to receive. First of all in order to investigate reality which is above you, which is outside of you. You must perform a restriction on the will to receive and rise above it please. So please do so, if you will do it then you will succeed to reveal the true reality. What you would reveal in the true reality is called the wisdom of Kabbalah. How to exit your reality? How to begin to feel the upper reality? Upper meaning above our corporal senses and how we can then rise to the investigation of the true reality. True means that it is not dependent on us, that we exit our will to receive, then we can investigate what is outside of the will to receive, that is called that it is not dependent on us. In this manner we can reach our new perception.

63. S. (29:20) Can a person identify what true wisdom is, or who is a true teacher or is it only from a new awakening from above and without the awakening from above we will be confused. Can a person identify a true person and a true teacher or is it only from above?

R. Of course it is only in the beginning from above. First of all, you need to reveal that we are entirely dependent on the awakening from above. That there is an upper force that forms us and everything 100%. And that we are not capable of doing anything on their own. Rather only to reveal that we are entirely dependent on the upper force and that we need to request then we can get some independence from him from the will to receive, from the Creator, it is not important that we can be independent. To the extent that we begin to feel ourselves independent, to this extent we want to determine ourselves that we are in the same quality as the Creator. We want to be in the same quality of bestowal like the Creator. This is how we advance.

64. S. (41:08) How does the strength of materialistic psychology strike this below on philosophy?

R.  Materialistic psychology is a science, maybe not because it is still psychology, but it is based on facts, on experimentation and testing. It is more respectable in the eyes of humanity that in the meantime has advanced two thousand years, maybe more. When did materialistic psychology begin? Maybe 200 to 300 years ago? Beforehand there was philosophy that was completely dominating so humanity advanced our will to receive and developed from generation to generation. Over thousands of years, the will to receive developed to a state that other than the fact that within the will to receive, we are not receiving anything. Thus, here is the end to all of these. let us say religious forms and all the variety. Materialistic psychology came and began to take the place of all these approaches of religions and faiths. This began approximately 150 years ago. Then people began to, more and more distance themselves from religion and philosophy to this day. This is how it goes; it is a slow gradual process like that occurs in the entire expanse of humanity. 

65. R. (44:15) I understand that the article is short, and it is really not explaining anything here to the depth but rather gives us a few points and this is what he wants to tell us. Intentionally he does not want to do more, and not to make any troubles for Kabbalah or hardships, rather just a bit for whoever can understand it and can feel how these points are key points. If people do not understand it, they will just go over it as something that is just for reading.

66. S. (45:00) What is the revelation of the Creator to the created beings in this world, if spirituality is attained outside of it?

R. Spirituality is attained above the ego. We need a time when we are here in this world and some state that we are here to reach attainment of spirituality. Simply, let us say like that. "That the world you shall see in your life." This is what we need to do and not more.

67. S. (46:15) Today psychology also loses its value and what replaces it is the science of the brain. It becomes much more materialistic basically. Is this another stage to the advancement to the advancement that Kabbalah is the truth?

R. No, In the meantime I do not place any hopes on advancing the truth. Because it is a technical matter only. I think in this we will get deeper on how the electrical systems build in us all sorts of forms in the brain. In this we will depict the truth ourselves. We can maybe later take from this some simple facts for dissemination for something to try to explain or convince. But not that we will be able to find the Kabbalistic approach on it. Because in any case we are talking about something that is accepted within reason and not above reason. Thus it will not help us. 

S. What does Baal HaSulam mean when he says that only the nothingness of philosophy will be revealed then the wisdom of truth will be revealed. Here we understand that no one's values philosophy but still the wisdom of Kabbalah is not revealed.

R. We are still on the path. These are historical periods and sometimes for hundreds of years they do not occur in speed. Rather they demand that they get into the hearts and minds of the masses of the people and these people would greatly change, greatly change in their approach. In short, it demands time. I do not think it will be day-to-day. In any case the spiritual revolution needs to be in this that we will reveal that unity and the connection between us, and this world will be the group that will be the carrier of the vessels of the spiritual force. This is what I expect to be.

68. S. (49:32) How will it affect us or how will it be, how will it affect the world if we are the group that can reach the spiritual force if there is no one to connect and to feel that?

R. I do not understand you. We need to reach the connection between us that the connection between this will be tied to prayer, and  that by the mutual prayer between us we will obligate the Creator, “My sons have won me over” and He will connect between us, and correct us, and fill us with His spirit, with His light, and then we will be the carries, the connectors between humanity that we will be incorporated in humanity that we will come to the humanity as the vessel capable of illuminating to all humanity the method of Kabbalah, the method of revelation of the Creator to the created being in this world.

S. But what will prevent a different method to come and to claim in a new way?

R. First of all, I am not responsible for what will happen, I know what we are supposed to do, and that we need to do it, and if there will come additional obstacles, then they will come. By this as what happened with King Solomon in the story, by this, the wisdom of Kabbalah also received a great push, and a great drive of dissemination, because there accumulated a great force that was not corrected called Ashmadai, and the egoistic will to receive that is very deep from the broken vessels of the Adam HaRishon, very great truly heavy layer, and they corrected it. It is a great attainment.

S. Regarding humanity, we see that, yes, philosophy has received a blow, and psychology is now leading us to new places, but we see in the world this phenomenon that whatever is based on facts or experiments have think this way, and have think that way, and there is not even a false true that everyone is agreed about, everything is completely split.

R. So what. Humanity in the state that no one knows who is right.

S. How will humanity advance not to indifference but to rather to ...?

R. Apathy is a temporary thing. The will to receive all the time grows in each and every one and all of us together, it will not leave us apathetic, it will not. We will need in any case, so the will to receive will not let us come down, it advances in any case, there are periods where it advances us more, some periods where it advances us less, like each person and every person and all of humanity in its entirety, there are periods where we want to go forward, we are ready for everything, and there are periods that we are not capable of anything, and really withering. That is how it is.

S. We are as worldwide Bnei Baruch should we be like King Salomon saying I am Solomon?

R. We need any case to present ourselves that we are a unique center for study, for dissemination, and realization of the wisdom of Kabbalah in humanity, among humanity. We are ready to accept everyone and bring everyone closer to this wisdom. That is it, and what is besides this? Whatever we are capable of, we will do.

S. Regarding all the methods that are stopping or replacing the wisdom of Kabbalah, should they disappear for us to have it easier or what?

R. No, I am not responsible for anything besides what I can help in disseminating the wisdom of Kabbalah between everyone. Because we are ready in the generation of the Messiah of general correction and we see all humanity, and we are in a state that we already need to disseminate between everyone, accept everyone, whoever wants to listen, and accordingly advance, that is it, more than this I do not see. If we will be able to attain high degrees, and understanding, dissemination, and connection between us and the Creator, even great, that is, that is what we need, we need to yearn for everything, and then we will see what happens. Get used to these times, there are times for good, there are times for bad, there are times where we calm down when we have no much spirit, we do not warm up so much and there are other periods where we will need to look at ourselves all the time from the side, and to be philosophical about it. Meaning that everything passes, and we need from good times, and from bad times, from everything, we take what we need for correction.

69. S (56:45) I heard from you that today in our days, in our generation there are no prophets or Kabbalists, meaning, what we have is the teachings of Baal HaSulam and Rabash, but for the ones who study the wisdom of Kabbalah much of the material is not understood, there's all this confusion without this confusion, what can we present to humanity so that they will come to us? Nonetheless, besides our connection as a group that is not so big, what can we give them?

R.  I'm in my time long ago already, I have stopped writing, but before that, I wrote a few books, and we have a very big archive, and we have all the lessons there, lectures, videos, drawings, there is everything there, go in there and see how much we have, and prove to us that what there is not enough, or that maybe it is enough but not understood, and that we need to arrange it differently, I'm ready to hear it, but you also need to see yourselves as active participants in near the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah. This is the main thing that we need. In what way are you expressing your attitude towards humanity, and to the Creator, that you are disseminating to everyone the wisdom of the Creator.

70. S (58:52) If we live in the corporeal imaginary world, why should we believe in materialistic psychology?

R.  We do not believe in materialistic psychology, which is respected, because it takes people out of all sorts of religions and faiths, from all sorts of confusions, and places that corporeally yes, not spiritually, corporeally that the judge has not, but what its eyes see. It establishes us, scientifically, towards our sensations, towards our mind that we have science and besides this we have materialistic psychology, and what we can investigate reality, and only in this we believe, if we can say, we accept it as our perception. Therefore, materialistic psychology has greatly helped us to exits all sorts of religions and faiths, and methods. and whatnot. To accept a healthy approach to all of reality.

71. S (01:00:45) Is it supposed to be revealed in the way that instead of philosophy, we are supposed to come to the wisdom of Kabbalah?

R. Yes, ultimately all the wisdoms, as Baal HaSulam says and I also wrote this in my books, that all the wisdoms are incorporated in the wisdom of Kabbalah, and ultimately besides the wisdom of Kabbalah we will not need not need anything else. But we will need to add, to the writing of the Kabbalists, more writing, and there will come a moment where we will begin to get into it, in a more spread manner.
