Part 1:
The Ruin as an Opportunity for Correction - Selected Excerpts from the Sources
1. Rav’s Introduction: We exist in a unique reality called this world, let's say a fragment of a states we have to go through are this world. So what can we learn from the entire process that we go through? That what we go through comes to us from spirituality, from a higher world, from something that precedes us like we say about the upper force that created heaven and earth and everything. So there is nothing new under the sun and everything unfolds from the beginning to the end of creation and in that process what we receive is some small portion of creation into our emotions and by that we can change our attitude and our place in this whole creation so as to join this creation. Not as just creatures that this creation develops and brings from the beginning to the end, but what we receive in a unique way, into our hands, into our feeling, into our ability, we can change our attitude to whatever happens to us and accept it in a purposeful way and understand and feel it in a certain way.
So this means we can change our relation not just to whatever we observe as happening to us so that we better feel and better understand and be present in it. No, the main thing we need is through our relation to what is happening we can attain the upper force that projects this creation into us, within us more accurately. To focus our vision on the upper force so we can understand Him, feel Him, and even change. Because all of creation that appears to us and unfolds before us is only for us to understand what is that stream that is taking us with it and how can we influence it? How can we by so doing begin clarifying Him, directing ourselves to flow with Him, understand that flow and reach the source from where it originates, the Creator; and merge with it so much that we can change the way we understand this flow, this stream and the quality of this flow in a way that in our feelings it will be something that is truly whole, that is one. We will discover the Creator is not breaking anything or doing anything here rather everything exists in the complete upper light, infinite light as it says I am HaVaYaH, I do not change, nothing changes besides our desires our Reshimot, the records.
As we begin to aim them correctly which means to agree with the flow and relate ourselves, attribute ourselves to the flow itself, by that we can come to a state where as we feel that something flows through us and changes us we are changing, and everything that is happening to us on the outside as if begins to gradually stop. Because we see that everything is good that does good, everything works to our advantage, it’s for us to understand and feel how it works, that it’s a force that is purely good that does good and so we come to a state where everything seems to stand still. The system is static, it is not flowing anywhere except for our inner desires. That if we correct them in the right way we also advance and move closer to that whole, perfect, one state. If it's not one it is not whole and vice versa, it is incomplete, it keeps changing until it is complete and one. That is what we learn.
Now in order to come to a state where we are like the Creator in complete rest, we have to go through these states and the first state we have to discover is our own state, meaning where we are, what is going on with us and so everything begins from the shattering from discovering the shattering, the sense of the shattering, the feeling of the broken vessels. The shattering preceded us, it is what we call the sin of Adam HaRishon, and we are called Bnei Adam the children of Adam and like descendants of Adam we begin to feel ourselves as outcomes of that broken vessel. So each and every one should see himself as comprised of the broken egoistic desire that only wants to correct itself in feeling good and pleasant and filled with whatever it feels lacking according to its records, and other than that nothing is of interest to it. So our whole path which is a path of correcting the shattering begins from recognizing the shattering and so we reveal the shattering gradually, we cannot correct it all at once, it is something vast and huge.
So like with little babies the same thing is how the Creator gradually reveals to us the forces of nature, our qualities, and the extent to which we are broken, separated and in discovering the separation and that inner separation between us, we have to see it as the main and only real malfunction. Our whole work needs to be in wanting to connect, as it says love thy friend as thyself is the great rule of the Torah, meaning holds everything in it and that is how we will advance. So there is one corruption which is that the created beings shattered and moved apart and there is one correction, that we have to connect between us. This is basically the introduction.
2. S. (10:13) I want to ask about this flow that you have described: what is that flow, that stream?
R. We learn from the wisdom of Kabbalah that the Creator created one single desire and in order to allow this desire to know itself and its essence, that it is a desire to enjoy, to receive, the Creator shattered it into pieces. All these pieces can then discover themselves, who they are what they are, what they are for and so on and they can attempt to connect between them, they won't be able to do it on their own but they will discover that by the upper force which we call the upper light, that light can reform them, meaning bring them back to the state in which they existed before the shattering. So the Creator designed this whole state, this broken state and that the parts, the pieces can attain their broken state, feel it as bad, and that they can achieve a good state on the condition that they connect. To the extent that there is connection between the broken pieces they discover the Creator in their connection, the good and that is how creation has to correct itself and reveal the Creator, that’s it.
S. This flow you described, it's something we discover in the connection between us?
R. That flow is felt in that we try, we long for connection and when we enter that stream of connection, why stream? Because we reveal there more and more advanced records, from light to heavy. So we connect more and more and more until we come to the complete, perfect connection called final correction. So we go back to the system of Adam HaRishon, that structure but we did it in contrast to the evil inclination, against the ego that pushes us away from each other and only directs us to use each other for our self-interest. So when we work against it through our efforts we turn to the Creator, we ask Him for strength and this strength comes to us as light and so we collect these lights and advance by them. And so we transform the will to receive to a will to bestow. That’s how we build our vessels, vessels that are receiving in order to bestow. First there is bestowing in order to bestow and then there is receiving in order to bestow. That’s the whole path until we accumulate within us all of the broken vessels that we have from the beginning of creation.
From the shattering of Adam HaRishon, from that system until we conclude all the corrections, put all the pieces together and discover in them, in one great whole we discover the upper light, meaning the revelation of Creator within the corrected vessels. Then we discover the Creator not like right now, a point that is barely felt, barely understood, and only pushing us forward like a northern star. Rather we will discover according to our vessels more and more of the Creator, that He will appear in the created beings. The more the created beings become one the more the Creator is revealed in that creation as one. Till we come to a state where it is called on that day Him and His name are one. Him is the Creator and His name refers to the vessels when they all connect in order to bestow. So that on the creature’s part, the created being’s part, it's the will to receive in order to bestow and then the Creator's part is the desire to bestow the way it is.
3. S. (15:50) You said that we should reveal the shattering, discover it as I understood, this is our main work, but we also learn that we should not work with a negative. The work in revealing the shattering how do we do that? How do we reveal the shattering alongside the fact that we can’t do any work with the revelation of the shattering?
R. Why do we need to learn a shattering, we need to learn the correction. We have to long for correction even though we don't know exactly what was broken, what exactly is broken, we have too long to be connected. It's not up to us to learn the shattering, we have to connect as much as we can in a tighter, faster, stronger fashion.
S. How did we discover the shattering?
R. I don't need to discover the shattering, I mostly need to discover the correction. And then the shattering as much as needed will appear on the way but too long for it I don't need to, only for correction, only for connection.
It says where a person's thoughts are is where he is. So we only have to yearn for connection and that's what all our thoughts and desires should be focused on from dawn to dust and from dusk to dawn. That in my mind I won't be focused on how I’m broken but how I’m connecting and also not exactly how I'm connecting because it doesn't matter to me, that’s the Creator's work, rather how I awaken myself and my friends towards connection and then when we ask the Creator to do the job, does the work. It says about that the Creator shall finish the work for me.
S. I wrote down your words, that our work begins with the revelation of the shattering.
R. We have to discover that we are shattered, that we have no power to make any correction happen. That's why we have to turn and ask for the correction to happen to us from above, that’s it. It's not that we need to pick into what exactly was broken and how. We will feel some of that a little bit on the way according to our corrections.
S. What should be the most correct action to discover that we’re shattered?
R. Too long for correction.
S. To correction of what, the shattering? If the shattering hasn’t been revealed what’s the starting point?
R. The starting point is that we are here, in this world, this earthly matter, not connected, with this very little ego, but look how much it separates us. And we have to yearn for connecting and look what is happening in this world. All the time each and every moment of our lives in the family unit, in the country, between countries we are only discovering how opposite to each other we are and that's where we need correction. Now you say we have to study the shattering. You can’t study the shattering; you are not going to see the shattering. It exists throughout all of the depth of the human and between humans and different groups and in all directions, you can’t do it. You will discover the true form of the shattering only in the final correction, this against that, one opposite the other, but now you have no way to attain it, to digest it.
S. How do we discover that we are separate?
R. Go outside and talk to people and see, where do you live? It's like you fell here from some planet. Try connecting with the friends in the group and you will see how broken you are.
S. How is this shattering expressed? I feel like we’re all together, eight friends connected around the lesson, we have one goal, we’ve had a good preparation for the lesson, we feel as one whole.
R. So you need to do some reading of the Rabash articles, just read and then you will see how bit by bit it becomes clearer.
4. S. (22:33) To agree that everything is by the power of the good who does good, you said that everything stopped, and the system is static. What does it mean?
R. That is the final correction, where we come to a state where everything is good that does good, and the system is static. Which means there was never ever a shattering, and nothing ever happened, everything exists the way the Creator created it to begin with. The system that is completely good that does good, the Creator fills all of the reality and this is called the form of the revealed Shechina. But in order for us to reveal it and feel it in all its depth we have to go through all these preparations, through the shattering and bit by bit towards the correction.
Reading Item # 1 (23:42) “The breaking of the vessels.”
5. R. (26:10) Why do we feel it is broken? Only in order to feel the intensity the Creator created. Because as created beings we cannot attain wholeness if not from an imperfect state. So towards us that is how the shattering appears and we discover bit by bit from light to heavy, the light excels from darkness. And without that ability to attain things we would just be completely devoid of any feeling, perception, or sensation. So this corruption so to speak the Creator made, it’s like what we do with children, when we break something apart in order for them to better understand what it means that it is whole. But the truth is there is no corruption, no correction, it is only the learning process I would say or education for the created beings so they can feel and understand, attain the Creator.
6. S. (27:41) How do I make my transformation towards friends in the shattered phase? Where does the change begin?
R. In understanding that you are all in the state of shattering and you have to learn from the shattered state in what state you need to be in and the difference between these two states, broken and whole, is that you come together and connect to one. I don't know how focus works in today's cameras but how does it work, it is the two images that are crossed, no. In my time it was such that you would look towards the object that you want to take a picture of and then you would see two images until you shift the focus, and you change the aperture until they merge to one. And that means that you capture exactly what you want to take a picture of in a clear way on the film, it used to be on film. Anyway, that’s the kind of thing we should do. What was the question?
S. My transformation towards friends in the shattered phase, where does the change begin?
R. In the shattering you see yourselves apart from each other, separate. And the more you try to come closer to each other, do everything for the sake of each other than in the group you become what we call as one man in one heart. Accordingly you also come closer to the Creator. When you discover this connection in the initial, first, complete degree you begin to feel the first degree called Nefesh of Nefesh. All in all there’s 125 degrees NRNHY, and in each degree there’s another five and then another five. So that gives you five * 5, 125. So Nefesh of Nefesh of Nefesh is the very first degree and that is what we are facing.
7. S. (30:54) The complete unchanging one state, we feel it upon the broken state, but the broken reality is still before us, doesn't get corrected and appears as more and more shattered. How can we determine if we corrected something if the shattered reality still stands and grows even stronger?
R. We reveal, we are being revealed, being shown where we are and feeling ourselves far from each other, reluctant to connect, it’s hard for us to even think about it. I don't feel like it at all, I look for all kinds of other engagements and things to do besides thinking about connecting between me and the group. I'm tired of hearing this, I've heard of it for a few years already and I'm waiting for something to finally change, and it doesn't. Why doesn't it change? Because that is basically the correction. You could say it in different words, but the essence of the correction is not going to change. That is what we need.
S. He writes that the shattering itself is a great correction.
R. The shattering itself is a great correction on the Creator's part in terms of what he designed for us.
S. I see the flow of shattering. Is this correction on my behalf? I just don't feel good in the world of the Creator because I constantly feel under a constant stream of the shattering, not only with the friends but also at home. It's like a stream that keeps showing you the shattering.
R. Excellent! Be grateful that you feel this pressure that you can't stand this shattering and truly want to correct it and correcting it you already know how, by connecting with the friends and turning to the Creator.
S. How can we feel comfortable and good in this process?
R. If you agree with the goal that you are now moving towards then you will be in high spirits, agree with the path and everything will be fine.
8. S. (33:43) It's written in the writings of Rabash and Baal HaSulam whatever is in your part to do you should do and I am first and I am last. What is written in the writings of Rabash and Baal HaSulam, they ask a person to do everything that's within his part for the correction to do. How do you reconcile it with I am first and I am last, with everything that is happening?
R. I am first and I am last, says the Creator, in the sense that I started creation and determine the end of creation and you have to do everything in the middle in order to come from the initial point to the end point, that's it.
9. S. (35:13) You said we will discover the shattering only in the end of correction. And now we don't have a way of attaining it and digesting it, processing it.
R. No, that’s incorrect. We discover the shattering on each and every level. Otherwise what are we correcting?
S. So what kind of shattering are we discovering in each and every degree? What are we capable of discovering?
R. We discover the shattering on every level, each one in a personal way.
S. Do we need to understand the correction, how it works on us?
R. The correction is simple, only connection. The different manners of connection that are characteristic of each and every one individually.
S. So it's individual shattering and individual correction?
R. Of course because everyone is a unique part of the complete Kli.
S. OK. How not to run away from the feeling of the shattering?
R. Hold on to the friends.
10. S. (36:24) We know that the morning lesson is very intense state, very focused. How is it recommended to use the lesson as a means for correction, meaning what do I have to bring to the lesson in order to correct this?
R. I take the text and I read it. I try to add some commas and punctuation marks that make it easier for me to understand what it’s built from. That is how I feel the author more, better, Baal HaSulam or Rabash. I add some commas and periods and dashes or question marks and that is how I feel the text more. I read it a few times, a single quote. I read as if I want to forget about it and after a few minutes I approach another quote. I don't read all the quotes one after the other in progression, even though they might all belong to the same topic but they all still each have their own character. I come to learn the quotes and through that I feel Rabash and Baal HaSulam and that is how I prepare myself for a lesson and that is how I read it after the lesson. All these things stay in my archives and then once in a while I go back there, and I read.
S. That feeling you come to so it would start to be correction, what kind of feeling do I have to come to throughout this work?
R. I am reading whenever I have time, not according to my desire, whatever I have time. And then either I start from far away and then I gradually get warmed up more, and then I want it more and then I go deeper into the excerpt, or I don't find any desire, but I still read and learn it against my desire. I have learned from Rabash that it is a very important thing. Because specifically in this way when they don't want to, but I push myself and try to get interested despite my desire. By that I'm making even greater correction on my desire. So to patiently read the quote a few times, try to break it apart to pieces and add some punctuation marks wherever you think and in such a way, in such a gradual way connect with each and every quote.
S. You describe how important it is to prepare for the lesson in order to come ready. And now during the lesson what is our work in order to correct?
R. To connect with the friends, together with the friends, that is the purpose of the lesson. Not to know the quotes but to make contact with the friends.
S. I have a tendency to write to a friend, something small to remind him of things. Is it a disturbance, is there a problem?
R. Typically it's a disturbance. The fact that you want it doesn't necessarily mean that he wants it. I would avoid it.
S. If he does want it he expresses interest?
R. I don't know, I don't think it's worthwhile doing. While you are studying, when you're still in the lesson it’s not great to disturb each other, it’s the ego at work.
11. S. (41:33) How is the shattering expressed practically in the ten? I feel that there are things that are unrelated.
R. The shattering is expressed in the ten in that it doesn't let us too easily come closer, to connect to each other. That is the shattering. That we feel that we are not one, we cannot even imagine what it means to be one.
12. S. (42:22) From the plan of creation the point of the created being with the Creator cascaded down below and here after the shattering…. So how after the correction of the evil inclination of the desires of the created being when he returns to adhesion with a Creator and is 620 times bigger, with all the souls…
How the created being returns to the purpose of creation with all the evil inclination he corrected all of his discernments? What is the expression where he’s adhered to the Creator and seemingly disappears and is connected with all the souls? Seemingly it’s the same point but 620 times greater. What is he supposed to do?
What is the expression of the created being when it returns from the shattering to the complete correction? What is the expression?
R. Expression, that it becomes whole again after the correction. That it's already connected to all the rest of the created beings and can reveal the Creator inside him in a complete way.
S. What is his unique point at that time?
R. That on his part he did it and that’s relevant to each and every one of the created beings and these points that made a correction, each one made a complete correction from its perspective. Then all these points come together and that becomes one whole Kli.
S. Incorporating with all the souls from below up, how does that influence this uniqueness?
R. That is his vessel, that is what he created, the created being not the Creator. The created being you can say at least established this complete Kli from below upwards and the same goes for each and every one of the created beings. Each one collected this sphere from his own Reshimot. And then all these spheres merge into a single sphere which is the corrected Adam HaRishon.
13. S. (45:37) Will we feel the breaking so much that we come to hate each other? How do we agree?
R. But you still don't want to kill each other, there will come a time where you will. That's how we advance towards the revelation of the ego, the cruel will to receive in an increasingly revealed manner and on top of that we need to correct it, to invert it in order to bestow.
14. S. (46:26) A few minutes ago you said that we can't even imagine the complete whole state, so we feel it's a problem that we don't know what the corrected state is, what we have to connect to in order to be corrected. Without it is difficult to advance. How is that complete whole state revealed?
You said that because of the shattering we can't even imagine the complete state. So without this revelation, without this picture of the complete state, the nearest degree how can we nevertheless exert in some unknown direction?
R. Yes, I like your questions they’re good. How can we without seeing the complete state, how can we long for it and pray for it and so on? Erect it without understanding what it is? Can we from our broken state learn about the whole state and can we even understand the shattered state itself without seeing the whole state opposite that, one opposite the other? That is a big question and it’s not a simple one. But what we are doing is through annulment, through nullifying towards the perfect state, which is the Creator that resides in the group, that is how we nullify ourselves. From there shines the light on us from a higher degree. And then by that light that shines on us from a higher degree, even just the light of Ruach towards the level of Nefesh, then we can get closer and ascend. That is good, it’s a good question.
15. S. (49:11) Can you repeat what you said that you sit down, and you read every sentence slowly even if you don't want it, you work against the desire as you learned from Rabash. I didn't understand how to do it.
R. You repeat the lesson and then you will understand what I said. If not then ask again.
16. S. (49:38) In the excerpt it writes “would not have come to the world…” Can you explain what does it mean?
R. It says, so that the Creator seemingly has no choice but to create the world from corruption. And only through corruption the created beings can go through these corruptions in a gradual way, from easier, lighter to heavier. By that they will obtain the wholeness of creation as they want to receive the light that reforms, the light that brings them closer, connects them, corrects them, fulfills them. This way by the light that shines through the darkness they can come to the final correction, there is no other choice. So the corruption is not a corruption, we call it that way but in fact, in the eyes of the created beings who are already climbing up the degrees it’s a means for correction, for understanding.
Like when we get at school all kinds of exercises to solve. Is that a corruption? It's not a corruption. I each time have to learn in such a way how we overcome another problem and another problem, and that is how we advance. We don't see it as corruption. To write these books with exercises for people to solve requires unique people who know how to do it, not everyone knows how to do that. But for the Creator it was seemingly easier. He's in wholeness, shattered that wholeness and that is our world. But it is not so simple. Try. Try to put together some exercises for children or for people to gradually use them to rise in their understanding, in their feeling. That requires knowledge of the internality of the human in a very clear way.
17. S. (52:30) I just want to scrutinize how the shattering appears in the ten. Let's say I see the friends are tired, they don’t have the energy to connect, they’re impatient, all kinds of things. Does that mean I'm revealing the shattering?
R. Well yes, let's say so.
S. And then you answered the friend that I have to cancel, annul myself. What does it mean?
R. When you go towards correction you don't delve into what’s broken and why and how, you accept it as correct and you’re going to correct it. Correct what? Only connection between you is missing until the Creator is revealed.
S. What does annulment add to my correction?
R. So the shattering has only one solution to bring you to connection.
S. Correction in my eyes?
R. Connection between all of you, between the friends. Where do you find the shattering? It's not on the street, it’s not in the clouds, it's not anywhere. You discover it in the friends that you can't be connected as one great spherical vessel. As much as you tried, enough, we see it doesn't work out for us. Let’s start turning to the Creator, start turning to Him in such a way that each one is doing that. And then you see that too doesn't work but rather all of us together. So how do we connect in order to turn to the Creator? Then when you’re together and you want to connect to the Creator that together state has validity.
S. Let's say only I am discovering what is bothering me?
R. You have to awaken friends' hearts as Rabash writes.
S. How do I do it?
R. Turn to them, turn to them or in the lesson when we discuss it. Look now, a few people are looking at you. Many other people are looking at you. Start awakening them even without words from your heart, you just want them to be inspired.
S. So I understand what you’re saying but I can’t understand how do I bring it to the ten if only I discover it right now?
R. This I don't know. Try to find a way to your friends' hearts. Try. I would happily open up our center for connection but even so we can’t all go there and connect so we can only do it in our feeling, in our mutual feeling which has no space beside the feeling and no distance. So try to influence the friends that way.
S. So what kind of feeling should anyone in that state have?
R. You want to feel what’s in the friend's heart, and you want the friend to feel what's in your heart. And that it doesn't matter that there is a lot more garbage there in each one's heart, it doesn't matter. You want to feel each and every one's heart. Then by connecting between you as much as there is some inclination in each one towards cleanliness, towards connection you ask the Creator to clean your hearts and connect them.
18. S. (57:08) To see the world as whole all the time does that depend on the person or on the Creator?
R. It depends on the person. If he longs for that, if he wants to justify the Creator then he tries to see the whole world and be at peace with the whole Creator.
S. What efforts does he need to put in?
R. We said to try to open one's heart towards the friends, we're not talking about the world yet. So open your heart towards the friends and you want the friend’s hearts to also be ready for you. And so everyone, as much as they can be connected through each and every one’s good part of the heart. By connecting they will be able to begin cleaning up all of the hearts, that’s already the work of Arvut and gradually you will come to a state where all the hearts are completed into a single whole heart. Try, try to pick into your heart and each and every one's desires and the collective desire and see how that works. It's like working with your hands, something we can actually do.
19. S. (59:00) If I want to be in love and bestow and I am asking the Creator to give me that power and it turns out that I become the Creator’s partner in the dissemination of this power; and if I play as this goal relative to me so I am able to disseminate this power and able to give and love friends, this is already called Lishma, for the Creator, for our dissemination?
R. Yes, correct.
20. S. (59:57) We discover a new shattering at every degree. Is there any restriction to rise above shattering at all levels?
R. I don't know what he means by restriction here; restriction means that it's not for my own benefit, so certainly in each and every state I have to undergo a restriction.
21. S. (01:00:39) What does it mean to concentrate our view on the upper force and to understand it?
R. I don't have more to say here, that is what you need to do.
S. When I believe, above reason that ‘behind every friend stands the Creator’, is this my connection to the Creator, behind the friends?
R. Yes.
22. S. (01:01:08) We hear many times the expression’ together’, ‘turn together’, ‘annul together' and so on and so forth. Is there a constraint of time or space for this ‘together’ they have to be in the same place physically or same time to turn together?
R. No, it doesn't have to do with time or place,’ together’ has to do with the desire, that this desire within us we feel that it is working in everyone. That we all want to connect to each other, and we want to bring these individual desires together into one and if we connect in that one desire, there we should be feeling the Creator.
Reading Item # 2 (01:02:08 - 01:04:44) Twice
23. S. (01:04:47) He writes something interesting here that, “if a thought of the will to receive enters then the abundance pours out to the Sitra Achra, the other side”?
R. That our broken desire, if it is not connected to other desires and not thinking about the correction so by that it increases the corruption. The desires connect between them either in the good way or in the bad way, you’re interconnected. So you see what happens in the world from day-to-day, the bad, the Klipa, rises and intensifies.
S. If I don't think about the friends right now then I seemingly assist the abundance to be poured out?
R. Of course, of course, there is no such thing that nothing is happening either towards the Klipa or the Kedusha, one of the two, so every moment is important.
S. So it turns out that most of my time is in the side of the Klipa?
R. So start correcting yourself and thus correct the world. Yes, but that’s just with regards to us, you're not going to get any strength from yourself, from within, only by connecting with others, same with me. It says, “from all my students did I learn”, so I learn a lot from the friends or the students. It says, “from all my students”, this is something the Sages wrote hundreds of years ago, “from all my students'' meaning from all the students I am learning says the teacher, one who is a great teacher. It also says, it says “I have learned a lot from my ancestors, even more from my friends, and even more from my students”, and there are other statements like that. Meaning you can learn from each and every person on the network, that's in that network it doesn't matter how great that person is, you can learn a lot from him.
24. S. (01:07:48) He writes, “if the vessel has a thought to receive for itself then the abundance pours out to the external ones outside of Holiness”. The question is: why is it if only one thought enters all the abundance leaves?
R. The corruption can be just one and then the Kli is no longer complete, it’s like there's a hole already in and abundance goes outwards.
S. So it doesn't matter how big is the vessel, one corruption can do great harm?
R. Yes because spirituality is perfection.
25. S. (01:08:38) Generally speaking in the relationships with what wants to be expressed, is the pride, that part that gets hurt, that wants to be righteous, how to extract the good part in him, how to bring it out?
R. By adhesion between one friend and the other you clarify your common goal, you discuss your common goal and how to get closer to it, specifically by being together. And you look for how can that togetherness brings you further and further progress, and that is how you advance. When the group begins to examine itself: how can we be closer to the goal, closer to connection between them towards the goal, they can attain and succeed quickly and big time.
26. S. (01:09:50) Before we were able to receive abundance from the Creator, what is the preliminary stage in the ten, what do we have to generate between us?
R. Connection, don’t you know?
S. Why does each one need to commit to not receiving for himself?
R. Each one has to commit to being connected with the others as much as he can. Don't think about not receiving, think about it in a positive direction: we have to connect between us in order to advance towards the Creator, that is it, in the positive way. This way is not so obviously against the ego and when you help each other, ‘one shall help his friend’, you complete each other, it will work to help you rise above the will to receive, we will learn about that more.
27. S. (01:10:52) Many times we hear that if we try to connect truthfully, purposefully, we will later feel the shattering. If, for example, we had a physical gathering and it was fun, raised L’Chaim and the next morning we came to the lesson and didn't feel any rejection, any shattering, does it mean we didn't do the right work in the meeting?
R. Don't look for discovering the shattering, why do you need that? Look for discovering connection and the Creator inside that connection, your approach is really not good.
S. But again if we try and want to connect?
R. So connect and ask, the Creator will be with you, that’s it.
S. That’s it, how do we detect the shattering because that’s the goal?
R. Why detect the shattering, why?
S. So we can just detect connection?
R. Yes, always increasing connection.
S. That’s it?
R. That's it yes, yes, yes, I don’t even want to hear more than that, you don't need more, only connection, connection, more and more increasing, that’s it. And don’t worry, wherever you need to discover the shattering and corrections of all kinds, it will all fall into place.
Reading Item # 3 (01:12:35 - 01:13:16)
28. R. (01:13:19) Yes, so there was a will to receive before the shattering and after the shattering it connected with the source of light that filled it before the shattering and received from there the light in order to receive. It entered it and the will to receive became Klipa, the shell. What is the will to receive? The same will to receive it was before however now it has felt what it means to receive in order to receive, and now that gives it a longing for that state, the Reshimot for that state that is in order to receive, and that is called Klipa. And this is what attracts us and doesn't let us go, it holds our legs. We want to rise; we want to ascend but those Reshimot that received the upper lights in order to receive shackle us and keep us from rising out of the depth of the Klipot. They became Klipot, the same will to receive that was broken and besides being broken, it received an impression from the upper light that it wants to enjoy, that it can enjoy it. That became the Klipa.
Reading item 4 (01:15:01 - 01:16:07)
29. S. (01:16:09) Meaning that by the shattering of the vessels, the light enters the vessel and the vessel ceased receiving light but meanwhile it felt what that light that’s filling it is and those records, those Reshimot that the light received from the desire to receive, those are called Klipot, the shells and the will to receive with those records, with those Reshimot, yearns for that light, wants to bring it back and enjoy it in order to receive but it is impossible. Why did the Creator make it that way? So that we will feel ourselves existing between good and bad, between in order to receive and in order to bestow, and for us to make efforts to come closer in order to bestow contradictory to the Klipa that attracts us, confuses us, and makes things difficult for us.
This is called that “he swallowed it and regurgitated”, meaning by battling against the Klipa, by that we are rewarded instead of this small light that we had, we gain light 620 times greater, this is called “light and adhesion of the end of correction.” Whereupon all of those bad forces of separation which truly pull us by our feet back to this world, we raise ourselves and connect to the Creator adhere to Him 620 times with a great force; and in this way we take advantage of the evil inclination of the ego, we beat it. Why did the Creator do this? As it is written, “the advantage of light out of darkness”, that we the created beings can feel the phenomena only this compared to that, the advantage of light from darkness. Therefore He had to create the system of corruption so that upon it we will do the system of Correction and between those two systems we will exist. But in the end of Correction those two systems connect, both the bad and the good, and everything becomes double good. That is called “620 times” (Hebrew for 620x?).
30. S. (01:19:06) To continue a previous question, he said that “we don't have the vision of that good that is waiting for us”, but according to this article the Klipa is built upon something that already had that good state, is that true?
R. We have no records from the good states, in truth we also do not have any records from the Klipa. What do we have from the Klipa, altogether, the smallest of records, and all of the rest of the Reshimot, of the records, we will receive when we go up the degrees of the ladder, both from this and from that. We are organized in such a way that between the bad and between the good we will have always our part in the middle, we must have that so that we will have free choice.
S. So the Klipa is built like left and right, like the will to bestow is built?
R. The Klipa is not the will to bestow.
S. No. against it.
R. Yes, against, we can say so. Therefore we have the Klipot and the Reshimot, in order to receive, all along the ladder, every bit of the ladder because the vessel that went through the shattering went to attempt the end of Correction, the final Correction. It performed the highest level of a Zivug, a coupling, that is why it broke. We did not have vessels that exist in reality, altogether that are not broken, everything was broken. Therefore, especially against this, we need to rise on the right line, and we have where to take from; specifically by the Klipa we grow. Therefore this is called that the Klipa precedes the fruit where first we receive all kinds of awakenings and lights from the Klipa and then we correct it. If it weren’t for the Klipa we would not be drawn towards Holiness and the Creator. The Klipa is that which awakens all the time like this and takes us out of this calm.
Without the Klipa we would surely be laying down with zero pleasures, we would enjoy the only rest. “I do not want anything”, it’s called dead, “I do not need anything”. That is without the Klipa and the Klipa is what evokes in us “let's earn”, “let's succeed”, “let's be against the others”, “bigger than this and that, do, do”, that’s the Klipa. Therefore, the Klipa protects the fruit, the shell protects the fruit, the will to receive, and stimulates it to grow more and more. And then we through this, we grow and after some time we begin to be ready to sort where I need it from, why I need it. The Klipa also helps us understand that it is not capable of giving us what we will want, connection with the Creator, upper light. That the Klipa does not give, it cannot, it doesn’t have a connection.
It can pass only to us the small lights to receive, that can be felt in order to receive. This is why we also have to respect the Klipot, there are also those signs for that: like the water that is given after a few drops, like a few drops that is given after wine, etc. We have to somewhat respect the Klipa for the Creator created it in order to drive the will to receive from zero and to move it to something that will begin to search: “what is there here, what is there here”. That is all that will to receive by the small lights awakens that way and then already it begins to sort: this is for the good, this is for the bad, this is the Creator, this is against and so on. But this takes time, also now we are managed by the Klipa, yes, and we need to recover, to awaken from that.
31. S. (01:24:29) In the third excerpt, he writes about ABYA of Klipot and in the fourth, he writes about the worlds, ABYA of separation.
R. No, no, no it’s not the same thing, there’s ABYA of sanctity and against it, the Beria of impurity, this we need to learn. We don’t learn this in The Study of the Ten Sefirot, this is learned in The Tree of Life of the ARI, we will learn it at one point, don’t worry. I learned it with Rabash, he didn’t learn it with anyone, but I will learn it with you. It’s something very interesting, it’s a very interesting matter.
S. Just in order to be precise, what’s written is that as a result of the shattering of the vessels and their fall to the era of separation, so also the sparks of bestow fell into the shells. So they’re two different things?
R. Yes.
S. So we learn it in the result of the shattering of the vessels and the thought of separation so also the Sparks of this toll for the shelves so there are two different things?
R. Yes.
S. So something of it, can we, it’s something from these worlds, it’s something with which we can work?
R. At any given moment to your receive small discernments from ABYA impurity and ABYA of Holiness we’re between those two worlds, we’re between those two systems, ABYA of impurity and ABYA of Holiness, and if we want to rise we want to connect with the group in the middle and with a Creator who shines upon us to the group and how much we will receive of the Klipa and from Kedusha only depends on the extent to which we establish between us this complete, this whole vessel, that is actually our work. We don't need to know the structure of the Klipa and the structure of the Kedusha, which lights come through, which filters they come, we cannot now learn that. We will know that from the act, from the action, itself. Believe me you will feel and understand just like we discover in this world. We're living in this world, we discover it, we see this happens this way and this operates that way, that’s it, that’s how we will also discover spirituality, you cannot discover it any other way, In just starting about it, we won’t learn it, this needs to be actual, practical study from actual experience, that is where it will be clarified.
S. I thought we can work with it and somewhat if not, okay; so last question: the desires of the Klipot are corrected and they become desires of holiness. Can we compare it to those sesames that we put on the scales of merit?
R. Yes.
S. So I don't know if I'm saying it right, but let's say, I have a shattered desire on the degree of Assiya, if we correct it and add that sesame to the scale of merit. So that corrected sesame remains with me?
R. Yes, of course.
31. S. (01:28:37) Can one annul before his friends and open his heart without a state of a Klipa?
R. There is no such a thing as without the state of the Klipa, there’s always the Klipa, whether we identify it or not, that's the question, But to annul means that I am nullifying towards the connection with the friends and I already, by that, triumph over the Klipa.
32. S. (01:29:19) Is there a difference between the sensation of the shattering in a personal way and the sensation of shattering in the ten? Is my question even right?
R. Not correct, there is no such thing as a personal shattering, there was only shattering in the ten. You can talk about shattering only within the vessel that you're not capable of collecting, gathering, uniting together, that is actually what the shattering is. Where you’re depicting to yourself what the ten is and you can see how we're not collected, not gathered and the sorrow from that is the shattering.
S. Because alone I'm nothing, meaning eventually I am a shattered part but when it comes to the ten, I am able to do good work so is that the matter? That when I start connecting the vessels, is it right?
R. Yes, but we will nevertheless learn this onwards.
