Part 2:

Baal HaSulam. From My Flesh I Shall See God

"Qualification for the Nurturing of the Soul " (00:21)

1. R. (01:45) Meaning nothing depends on the person but on those who gave birth to him, those who gave birth to him and his parents.

Continues: (01:55) The second is when a person has grown and acquired some knowledge.

2. R. (02:50) So far clear, right? It's like in our life there's an age called the age of infancy until let's say about two years old, maybe three, depends where and how a person cannot exist except through the force of the one who accompanies him, who is close to him. Then age 2 to about twelve, thirteen years old when we can exist without the help of his parents together with him, he already can sustain himself can serve himself to some extent but it's still mostly under the influence of the parents and then beyond the age of 12 yrs. or 13 yrs. when he can conduct himself by himself.

Continues: (03:57) “Likewise, concerning the soul, a person reincarnates….”

3. S. (06:17) What allows the soul to grow?

R. The will to receive that is corrected in the will to bestow when a person arranges it . That is called the soul of a person very simple. It's called the divine part from above why because the will to receive if he received from the Creator qualities of bestowal desires to bestow he learns how to perform acts of bestowal and by that he becomes similar to the Creator that's why it's called divine parts from above

S. Is there any experience or knowledge that accumulates here?

R. Of course from degree to degree as a person climbs up the ladder he gets the greater will to receive and again he corrects it and greater ego that's how he climbs, that's how he climbs the ladder until he corrects he acquires all of the broken desires from the shattering of the soul, and he brings them back to the corrected form.

S. It says here in the beginning of the article about two levels of smallness and greatness what does that mean?

R. The first greatness end the first smallness infancy he's unable to do anything he's like a new born a baby you know that form it's like a piece of meat you can cry and that's it it's nothing more than that all the other actions his parents perform they wash him feed him they do everything the parents until he begins to a small extent by himself to move around move about what's a from age 2 on age 3 age 3 From age 3 to age 12 or 13 it's the maturing and he becomes a grown-up when he's 13 or 14 to 15 depending on the conditions in our worlds and after that he's already grown up.

4. S. (06:13) What allows the soul to grow?

R. The will to receive that's corrected in order to bestow. A person arranges it that is called the soul of a person. Very simple. It is called the divine part from above. Why? because the will to receive. if it receives from the Creator, qualities of bestowal, desires to bestow, he learns how to perform acts of bestowal and by that he becomes similar to the Creator. That is why it is called the divine parts from above.

S. Is there any experience or knowledge that accumulates here?

R. Of course, from degree to degree as a person climbs up the spiritual degrees, he has a greater desire to receive, egoistic desire, and corrects it and again he desires, and again he corrects it and this way left right, left right that is how he climbs the ladder until he corrects and acquires all the broken desires from the shattering of the soul, and he brings it back to the corrected form.

S. It says here in the beginning of the article about two levels of Katnut and one of Gadlut. What does that mean?

R. Katnut Aleph, its first, infancy. He is not able to do anything like a newborn. You know a baby is like a piece of meat. He can cry and that's it. It is nothing more than that. All the other actions his parents perform. They wash him, they feed him, they do everything, the parents. Until he begins to a small extent by himself move around, move about from age 2 and up to age 3. From age 3 to age 12-13 that's the age of maturing he becomes a grownup 13, 14 or 15 depending on the conditions in our world. Next to that he is already a grown-up

5. S. (09:27) What is the educational and study program that a person needs to get in order for the soul, in a corporeal school if I need to study methods clearly but in our study?

R. What are you doing here ? Why are you here with us?

S. I understand that I am going through studying and education but is it something that is definable?

R. You are here in order to reach a correction from your egoistic desires so all those corrections that you apply to your will to receive the egoistic desires that awaken in you this means that you're correcting your broken soul.

S. I understand what you're saying. I'm asking if let's say now 10,000 people come to study. Do we need to have some study programs in order or are there these things the teacher leads and guides? I'm asking pedagogically.

R. We have programs, we have a great deal of material, we have all kinds of circles and activities, and we are in this process for a long time now, we are ready for it, except there isn't much awakening in the audience and the general public. Let's hope that this will change in the near future. Right now they're not coming in mass. Let's hope that this will change in the near future and all of us, yourself included will have to teach more and more people.

S. But is it correct that this study needs to be pedagogical?

R. According to the material of Baal HaSulam and according to the experience that a person acquires he knows more or less how to teach others, not everyone but if he's serious, yes.

6. S. (12:01) Hello friends. Every person came in his time to the ten. How can we understand and determine our common age in the ten?

R. There is no such thing. In spirituality we accept a person from zero until he discovers his will to receive, and he begins to correct it, through restriction, screen, reflected light. He begins to overcome his will to receive and accordingly he enters spirituality and then in his spirituality he has to learn about these degrees that are days, weeks, years until he comes to age two or three. We will learn about it, this is all in TES Part 9, I think that's where everything is.

S. So there's no such thing, the collective age of the ten? Each one is separate in the ten?

R. Yes.

7. S. (13:31) He says two interesting things here that first the soul will not grow before it comes to the spiritual knowledge and now we learn that it's the light that reforms. The soul needs to know something?

R. When the reforming light works on it, and it acquires the screen and the reflected light it enters into mutual bestowal with the light and that's how it grows throughout all the degrees. This way it understands where it is in the spiritual realm.

S. And then he says like in the soul the person reincarnate until one attains the wisdom of truth in full. So everyone's asking what does it mean that he reincarnates until he attains the wisdom of truth?

R. He goes through various states of ascents and descents.

S. In one lifecycle?

R. He goes through all kinds of states until he understands more and more and that's how he grows up.

8. S. (14:59) I only have three years of Kabbalah studies. Do I have a soul right now or still not, still an embryo?

R. You don't have, and you have to discover it by yourself, and it doesn’t depend on the years of this world, it does not depend on it. It just gives us examples like in this world a child grows zero, one, two, three years old, similarly we grow in a parallel process. It’s not parallel to this world, rather this is also how we grow up in the spiritual world. From the restriction onward you begin to grow.

Continues reading: (15:57) “Everybody is impatient and ill-tempered ...”

R. Meaning we go through ascents and descents, changing states, for the good for the worse, than back to the good in all kinds of things. When it gets emptied and where it gets filled, through all those states, we go through all those states. Is this a law?

Continues reading ...

9. R. These are our states, our feelings on the path as we develop.

Continues reading: (17:07) “And this comes because ...”

10. R. (17:36) It's clear here, I just recommend you read it again during the day.

Continues Reading: (17:48) “The connection between the body and the soul ...”

Continues reading: (18:11) “The spiritual work ...

11. R. (19:02) Meaning before we can feel the reality around us, before we can correctly sort ourselves out, connect ourselves correctly with the friends in order to build a vessel, we won't feel any spiritual phenomenon in it. On the one hand it's very good because it's certain that we will not fail because we come prepared for it. On the other hand it just says that this is a serious matter, if you fit the degree you enter the spiritual degree if not you don't enter it.

12. S. (20:14) In the first part we read, the second to last paragraph can you explain that, what's the relationship between knowledge and incidents?

R. Where does he read? Where is it? Finding the reading... “However the growth ...”

S. So I'm asking what is the order or the relationship between good deeds and knowledge and attainment of the wisdom of truth, what leads to what?

R. You can say that sometimes this comes before and sometimes the other comes first, meaning attaining the knowledge and then the good deeds. So sometimes the good deeds come and then attaining the wisdom of truth, and sometimes a person attains a little bit of wisdom of truth and because of that he's drawn to good deeds. But typically it’s the attaining of the good deeds, meaning in order to bestow, and later according to these deeds he attains the wisdom of truth.

S. I'm asking because in the first part of the lesson we talked about coercion, that you just need to get used to doing what we call good deeds, connection, and effort.

R. This is corporeally, it's not in order to bestow. It's a connection in the ten.

S. So where's the issue of knowledge here, that knowledge is the result of these things?

R. The knowledge is the result of the correct spiritual actions that we will do.

13. S. (22:45) What does that mean that each complete soul attains all the souls? Is there a need for that, why do I need to attain all the souls?

R. In our correction we connect to the general soul of Adam HaRishon. He includes in it all the souls and this entire soul is called the created being and the Creator fills it, the upper light fills it. Why is it called Creator? Because we can't discover anything outside of this vessel, only what's inside the vessel. That’s what is called Creator, BoReh, come and see what fills the vessel of Adam HaRishon and this is what we have to come to. When we connect together and we discover the Creator in full, the Creator that exists in us. That is why we build the vessel in order to discover Him and that is why we say you have made me, because Creator is from the word BoReh, from the word come and see.

14. S. (24:02) It seems from here that connection and incorporation are a condition for attainment. Is that so?

R. Connection and incorporation are conditions for attainment, for revelation, of course. There's no other way here to attain the Creator except through incorporation and connection between us. We have to build a vessel for His revelation.

S. What’s the big advantage of Katnut

R. To learn what I can do in spiritual Katnut. In corporeal Katnut I depend on my parents, in spiritual Katnut I depend on spiritual forces where I can do all kinds of actions that were given to me, that I was allowed to do, and I cannot make any mistakes there because I'm limited in different forms. Even if I perform different actions that seem like mistakes, like little kids, it's not considered that I'm doing it by my desire, my intention. Those are mistakes, the results of the study.

Continues (25:25)

15. R. (26:52) What is he trying to give us here? What is he trying to explain to us, Baal HaSulam?

Continues reading ...

16. R. (27:36) I just want to say he doesn't speak of the days in our world and the weeks, nights and months in Shabbat, nothing. He only speaks only about spiritual discernments.

Continues reading ...

17. S. (30:24) Can we say that actually real work is on the day of rest? Real work is on the concealment not in the revelation?

R. The day of rest is not our day of Sabbath here, it's after we correct the Sefirot in the Partzuf which is Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, then Malchut is the seventh, the Sabbath, Shabbat, you don't have to do anything because these six actions, proceeding actions Chased, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod that we did, it's enough for those Sefirot to combine, to connect and to arrange the Malchut, establish the Malchut, that's what we need to do.

S. But it says, “the correction of the work days is concluded on the seventh day, in Malchut”?

R. Yes, that's why we have this seventh day where we do nothing, rather on the seventh day all the work of the six days of the week accumulates and they show the results on the seventh day. That's why the seventh day is time off we're not allowed to do anything, we're talking about spirituality, the way it’s written.

S. So the Partzuf is completed in that part?

R. Yes, then the Partzuf is whole, after six actions in Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, in order to bestow, all these actions then concentrate in Malchut and that's the end of the process.

18. S. (32:49) Every lesson it's a new kind of joy, how to share correctly with the group this joy and does it, is it bestowal towards the group?

R. Talk about it, it's better if you read again what we just read, this will tie you to it. You don't have to talk much, you have to let the light that is in the text work on us, that's why it's recommended to read again, that's my recommendation to you.

19. S. (33:42) What kind of rest do we receive on the seventh day in terms of the size of the structure of the Sefirot?

R. If we are in a degree of the Sefirot then after working with the Sefira of Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod we will have prepared ourselves for such a state where all these Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod will connect together and give us the result called Malchut, that's it.

Continues reading: (34:43 - 35:14) “It is likewise in attaining the spiritual form ...”

20. R. Meaning we have these two discernments in spiritual attainment: one that it will not be imaginary, that it'll be tangible, practical, felt clearly, not imaginary whatsoever and then it comes to a state where a person feels complete satisfaction in it.

Continues: (35:36 - 37:53) The title spiritual indicates ...”

21. R. (37:55) In short, spiritual attainment depends on effort and how we develop our desire.

22. S. (38:05) What does it mean that spiritual attainment needs to be as something that is that cannot be described?

R. How can you check your corporeal attainment?

S. Through contact with others, those who can see.

R. It’s all imaginary, Kabbalists say that our world is an imaginary world. It says when we return after the end of Correction to the true awareness, to true consciousness, we say that we were as dreamers, we were in a dream. How can we determine if this is the truth, or this is a dream? How can you prove to me that you are not dreaming right now or I'm not dreaming with you that we are actually here and talking and not dreaming?

S. What does Baal HaSulam mean and how to understand what he says?

R. When we come to the spiritual awareness, consciousness, we see that it cannot be any other way, why? Because we position ourselves, we stand, we place ourselves above the nature of reception and the nature of bestowal, we are seemingly incorporated in two forms of nature. That's why our attainment is not in one of them or the other but in between the two and that's why it is the truth. We are not angels who have only a desire to bestow, we're not creatures of this world who have only the will to receive, we are made of both, that's why our attainment is truthful.

S. You said ten minutes ago that a person attains Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet and then they connected in Malchut. How when he attains it, he understands that it is not some illusions that he feels right now but it's something realistic?

R. I can't explain this to you because this is attainment, you'll feel it and you'll see that this is so. He is aware of this problem, Baal HaSulam, but he writes to us that at least we'll have something, but you see how he writes, he can't say more than that.

23. S. (41:07) Every day of working in the ten there is a sense of joy and fulfillment from the meeting. So is spiritual attainment something that increases with every workday or spiritual attainment comes after a certain quota of work, is it gradual?

R. Both, it's both after a lot of work in attainment and also activities, states, and efforts we get spiritual attainment both in the heart and in the brain. Meaning both in the feeling and in the understanding and it fills the person.

24. S. (42:15) All of the wholeness that becomes revealed basically at the end of the work is when the deficiency becomes revealed?

R. The deficiency is revealed to attain wholeness.

S. But the deficiency itself, the yearning, is that the wholeness?

R. It's not wholeness, it's a deficiency except it’s revealed in us in order for us to reveal wholeness.

S. What is then wholeness?

R. Wholeness is the wholeness, completeness of attainment inside our will to receive where previously the deficiency was felt and now the deficiency is filled, it doesn't demand anything for the time being.

25. S. (43:15) Before that paragraph, I think I thought I understood what spiritual attainment is but now after Baal HaSulam gives these conditions I'm not quite sure what spiritual attainment is. Can you please explain?

R. No, I cannot explain, no, spiritual attainment is what takes place in one's brain and heart when he wants to be above his nature and in order to bestow. That's the only thing I can say, all the rest we will be able to feel and to understand after we try to connect between us and with the Creator to some extent. At least to some extent, the smallest measure possible.

26. S. (44:19) What does it mean Baal HaSulam when he says that “from the corporeal we can understand the spiritual”. What does it mean from the corporeal to understand the spiritual?

R. He's given us examples of how it goes in our world so we could somehow imagine to some extent how it's happening in spirituality. That our life is divided from this point to the end of correction into three stages: smallness or an infant, youth, and a grown-up, let's say. And more there's attainment in the brain and attainment in the heart the way it is in corporeality and also the way that it is a spirituality, in brain and in heart.

S. So our corporeal work, let's say in the ten, that brings us to the spiritual, otherwise how will we get there?

R. This is preparation for spirituality as a result of our work in the group we can build inside of us the preparation for spirituality.

S. So it means that in our mind is what he talks about?

R. In our mind, in our intellect, we have to discover.

27. S. (46:05) How can we have more yearning for the correction that is the fuel?

R. From one another: “envy, lust and honor take a person out of this world”. From his current degree he can rise to a higher degree through envy, lust, and honor.

28. S. (46:46) What does it mean ‘to attain all the souls’ that he writes in the article?

R. ‘To attain all the souls’ meaning to attain all the parts that dwindled from the soul of Adam HaRishon since all of them need to connect together, back again into that same structure, except this structure will be 620 times bigger than it was in Adam HaRishon before the sin.

29. S. (47:43) The formative years are most important. How does it happen in spiritual development, what are those initial formative years?

R. The first formative years are difficult for a person although he doesn't understand that he's protected more and more by the upper forces. So he needs to advance the way he is, just to add effort. More force and less brains, that's what we need in the first formative years, the power to connect, the power of connection and to participate as much as possible. Later we will need to work with our feelings and our minds to sort them out more; yes with these, no with those, in what way. How do we perform a restriction, a screen, reflected light, sort out the qualities in direct light and reflected light inside a Partzuf, these are different kinds of work, more internal.

30. S. (47:30) In corporeality the formative years are most important. How does it happen in spiritual development yet is like under the protection of the Creator like parents protect their children?

R. Yes, correct.

31. S. (48:30) Baal HaSulam compares he says you can't really exist without these two ...?

R. That's how it is in spirituality what can you do this corresponds to the light of Hassadim, and the light of Hochma against the desire to receive and the desire to bestow they have to be connected and work together to attain the Creator to be suitable to the Creator to resemble the Creator.

32. S. (49:50) What knowledge does the soul need to acquire in order to have a right to exist in the next world?

R. It acquires it on the way to the end of correction degree by degree. It has to go through all the degrees until it reaches completion, wholeness. Meaning it knows, understands, and feels how much it has be incorporated in all the souls, in order to make room for the Creator to fill them and to enjoy them.

33. S. (50:35) Do we always need to discover the dangerous and harmful things in spirituality by ourselves?

R. Yes. We need to discover and reveal everything so we can be exactly like masters of our vessel and carry out the role of the Creator in his place. This is the meaning of return all the way to the Lord your God.

34. S. (51:13) Can you say this article describes the awakening from below upwards?

R. No, these articles Baal HaSulam wrote for himself in order to later make them into something more substantial, but he didn't get it to it. Or maybe he thought that this was enough because to open up and share too much, typically a Kabbalist doesn't want to do that, it can only serve to confuse people.

35. S. (51:56) What specific innovation in our spiritual work in the ten is required for us to advance today?

R. I can't say it a thousand times already, we have to connect between us, create all kinds of connections between us. To study together but mainly to awaken one another towards connection that leads to the Creator. The Creator will make corrections in every state as long as we are worthy of the state of connection this is the meaning of asking him to put us in the right order connect us properly so you'll be able to clothing us and will be able to reveal you inside of us that's it doesn't depend on how much we understand it doesn't depend on being a man or a woman it's simply have to carry out this demand. the paragraph His, connect us properly so you will be able to clothe in us and for us to reveal you inside of us. It doesn’t depend on how much we understand, whether we’re a man or a woman, we simply have to carry out this demand.
